3 1 6.

Let's talk about LOST! 3 1 6.
Jack's eye opens. He wakes up in the bamboo forest; holding a torn section of paper with “I wish” on it.
In the distance you can hear Hurley calling for help. Jack drops the paper.
Jack runs to the edge of a waterfallBelow is Hurley holding on to a guitar case.  Jack dives in and rescues him. They get to a point in the water where Jack tells Hurley “We can stand.”

They both look around, “It really happened.”
Yep, they’re back! Jack sees Kate lying on rocks. Jack wakes her up. He confirms to her that they’re back.
Kate- “What happened?”

46 Hours Earlier:
Mrs. Hawking lights her white candles in the church. {Doubting Thomas painting.} She questions Ben, “I thought I said all of them.”

Ben replies this was all he could get on short notice.
Eloise guesses it will have to dofor now. All right, let's get started.”

She leads the group to the back of the church then down the spiral staircase. {Caution sign warns high voltage.}

Down in a dark lower level she opens a door; {Much like a door/hatch on a ship/freighter.} this is the Lamp Post station. She lights up the room.
A giant pendulum swings across a map floor. There are old computers and a board that shows longitude-latitude numbers, yet looks more like an old departure board in an airport. There is a blackboard with equations and variables and a U.S. Army Op 264 TOP SECRET military photo of an island {Dated 9/23/54- EYES ONLY} Eloise tells the group this place was called The Lamp Post by the Dharma Initiative, “This is how they found the island.”
Jack asks Ben if he knew about this place
Ben- “No. No I didn’t.”
Jack asks Eloise if he’s telling the truth
Eloise-“Probably not.”
Jack walks over to look at the military photo to take a closer look. Eloise has a blue flight book; she apologizes to the group if this is confusing but she turns to Jack and wants him to pay attention.  She goes on to explain the room they are standing in was constructed years ago over a unique pocket of electromagnetic energy.  That energy connects to similar pockets all over the world. And the people who built this room however were only interested in one.”
Sun- “The Island.”
Eloise- “Yes. The Island.  They gathered proof that it existed. They knew it was out there somewhere {Over the fucking rainbow!} but they just couldn’t… {Desmond bends down to take a closer look at the map on the floor.} ...Then a very clever fellow built this pendulum on the theoretical notion that they should stop looking for where the Island was supposed to be, and start looking for where it was going to be. {What good pupils they are! She continues on}  This fellow presumed and correctly as it turned out, that the Island was always moving, “Why do you think you were never rescued?”     While the movements of the island seem random, this man and his team created a series of equations, which tell them with a high degree of probability where it is going to be at a certain point in time.  {Jack looks at the blackboard filled with variables.}  Windows, as it were, that while open, provide a route back. Unfortunately these windows don’t stay open for very long. {Desmond is annoyed.} “Yours closes in 36 hours."
Eloise hands the blue flight plan binder to Jack
Desmond asks in disbelief, “Am I really hearing this? That’s what this is about? You’re all going back to the Island, willingly?”
Sun confirms they are, “Why are you here, Desmond?”
Desmond tells them he came there to deliver a message.
He tells Eloise, “Daniel Faraday. Your son… sent me here. He wanted me to tell you that he and all the people on the Island need your help.  He said that only you can help him. He didn’t say Jack, he didn’t say Sun, he didn’t say Ben, he said you.”
Eloise replies in a very caring granny manner, “But I am helping, dear.“
Desmond considers the message delivered
Eloise is sorry to tell this to Desmond, “But the Island isn’t done with you yet.”
Desmond freaks; says this woman cost him four years of his life. Four years he’ll never get back, “Because you told me that I was supposed to go the Island. That it was my bloody purpose!”
She nods her head “yes.”
Desmond says to Jack, “You listen to me brotha, and you listen carefully. These people here are just using us. They’re playing some kind of a game, we are just the pieces. What ever she tells you to do, ignore it.”
He tells Eloise he’s done with the Island

Eloise informs Jack, “The binder in your hands shows all the air routes that fly over the coordinates where I believe the Island will be in little more than a day from now.   There’s a commercial airliner flying from L.A. to Guam that’s going to go right through our window.    Ajira Airways flight 3 1 6.   If you have any hope of the Island bringing you back, it must be that plane. You all need to be on it. It must be that flight.”
Ben watches Eloise work. She continues to tell them if they want to return "you need to recreate as best you can the circumstances that brought you there in the first place. That means as many of the same people as you are able to bring with you." {She talks directly at Jack.}
Jack-“What if we can’t get anyone else to come with us? What if we’re it?”
Eloise-“All I can tell you is the result will be unpredictable.”
Jack-“So that’s it? We just get on that flight and we just hope that it works. That‘s all.”
No, that’s not all; at least not for him.
Happy Eloise brings Jack to her church lady office.  {Virgin Mary statues
Jack wonders- “Ben, Sun.“
Eloise says they heard what they needed to hear; this doesn’t concern them. She rummages through her very disorganized and cluttered desk looking for something.   She pulls out a crinkled envelope from under a bunch of papers and tells Jack it’s John Locke’s suicide note {Addressed to Jack.}
Jack didn’t know. Eloise tells him obituaries don’t see fit to mention when people hang themselves. {Hanging Charlie.}
Troubled Jack asks, “Why would he kill himself?”
Eloise-“There are many reasons. I’m sure. But the only one that matters is this…he is going to help you get back. John is going to be a proxy. A substitute.”
“For who?” Jack wonders.

She reminds him again that he needs to best recreate the conditions of the original flight. “Which is why you need to give John something of your fathers.” {Check out Jack’s shadowy shadow on the wall. Lol} That’s what Jack has to do.
Upset Jack tells her, “My father is gone. My father has been dead for three years. You want me to…and to give it to Locke, he’s in a coffin!”
Eloise nods her famous “yes” nod.

Jack- This is ridiculous!
She tells him to stop thinking about how ridiculous it is and start asking himself whether or not he believes it’s going to work, “That’s why it’s called a leap of faith, Jack.

Ben appears to be kneeling in prayer/meditation in a pew.    Jack puts the envelope in his jacket pocket. Ben tells Jack that Sun left, and a friend is looking after “it”- Locke’s body/the coffin. He’ll pick it up on his way to the airport.
Ben walks over to light a white candle and asks what she said to him.  Jack now in the prayer/meditation position in the pew, “Nothing that matters. Who is she? Why is she helping us? How does she know all this?”
Ben- “Thomas the Apostle.”
Ben tells the story of Jesus, Judea and Thomas.  Thomas was not remembered for his bravery.  He claim to fame came later, doubting/refused to acknowledge the resurrection. “He just couldn’t wrap his mind around it.”   The story goes that he needed to touch Jesus’ wounds to be convinced.”

Jack- “So was he?”     {Jack never heard this story before?
Ben- “Of course he was. We’re all convinced sooner or later, Jack.”
Ben has to leave as he made a promise to an old friend; just a loose end that needs tying up. “See you at the airport, Jack.”
Jack looks up and then over to the painting of Thomas touching the open wound.

Jack sits in a colorful bar staring at his drink
His cell rings, “Hello. Yeah. This is him. He did what?”

Jack talks a man at an “Retirement/old folks home.”   The man explains to Jack this is the 4th time he’s left, “He has to follow the rules or he’ll have to move to our fully assisted facility.

Jack understands.
They enter a common room where a special magic show is being performed for the residents. The magician introduces his “Fraidy-cat” rabbit." {This things eyes are scary!} Jack says hey to Ray, his grandfather.  The magician is doing a card trick with a woman.   Jack asks Ray why he "took off" this time.

Jack- “At least tell me where the bus was headed.”
Ray tells him “It doesn’t matter, anywhere I go is somewhere better than here.”

Inside Ray’s self sufficient room, Jack sees Ray packed a bag. {But didn’t pack his meds.

Ray mentions, “One of these times I’m actually gonna get away. They won‘t ever find me either.”
Jack explains if he takes off again they’re gonna throw him outta there.
Ray- “But what will I do without my magic shows?”
Jack helps granddad unpack.
Ray asks Jack, “So how are you, kiddo? Are you seeing anyone special?“     Ray asks Jack about the girl he brought by with him that time; the pretty one with all freckles, “What was her name?”
Jack reveals he and Kate are not together anymore.
Ray looks at the bright side; more time for Jack to come visit him. Jack tells granddad he’d love to, but he’s going away
Ray-“Where’s away exactly?”
Jack- ”Somewhere better than here.”
Ray- “Touché.
Jack finds a pair of handsome dark shoes under Ray’s plaid shirt.
Jack- “Are these yours granddad?“
Ray tells him those shoes belong to Jack’s father. His mom sent Ray a box of his stuff after he died, “Must have gotten mixed in when I packed for a quick getaway.”
Jack- “These shoes…can I take them?”
Ray-“Be my guest.” {Be his guest!}

Jack enters his dark apartment. He looks in the fridge and cupboards then pours drink. He hears a door close. In the dark he makes his way to the bedroom where he discovers Kate lying on the bed. She looks distraught, “Are you still going back to the island?”
Yep, he thinks he is. Kate is going with him. Jack asks what happened.
Kate tells Jack if he wants Kate to go with him, he is never to ask questions, never ask about Aaron again. Jack understands. They kiss and…

Morning.

Jack prepares the breakfast of champions, orange juice {2} and coffee. Jack seems happy and content. Kate seems disconnected.
Jack removes the black shoes from the table.

Kate refers to the shoes, “Those don’t much sense for the island. You might consider hiking boots”
They giggle.
Jack explains they were his fathers. {A chief of staff without nice shoes. Go figure.} “When I went to pick up his body in Sydney my dad didn’t have any nice shoes. My mother wanted to have the funeral as soon as I landed back in L.A., but I thought, who the hell is gonna see his feet? {Watch Kate this whole time} And so I had these old white tennis shoes and I just said use these. Put these on him. Cause he wasn‘t worth a nice pair of shoes to me, or the time it would take to go out and get um.”
Kate asks why he doesn't get rid of em, “Why hold on to something that makes you feel sad?”

The phone rings. {Saved by the bell} Kate tells him to go ahead; she’ll see him at the airport.
Jack answers the phone;  it’s Ben. “Hello Jack. Are you there?”

Yep. Ben is calling from a pay phone at the marina. He also appears to have been beaten up although Ben calls it sidetracked.  He needs Jack to pick up Locke’s body and take it to the airport. “The coffin is at Simon’s Butcher Shop. Corner of Grand and Hayes.
Jack- “What’s happened to you?”
Ben wants him to just do it.

Jack arrives at Simon's in his dark suit and back pack. {Smoking Prohibited by Law on the door} It’s locked up. He looks in the window and bangs on the door.{5x}   Butcher Jill comes out and lets Jack in. Jack tells her Ben sent him.

Jill reveals “I know who you are Dr. Shephard.”   She leads him to the back with hanging meat, “What’s in the bag?”   I think she realizes it was out of place to ask.
Jill- “Ben said to give you the van. I gotta pull it around back. Give me about five minutes.” She leaves through the creaky door. Jack heads over to see Locke.
Jack opens the top half of the coffin  revealing Locke.  Then opens the lower half, revealing Locke wearing black loafers   Jack removes them and replaces them with handsome black lace up shoes. {Right foot first.} “Wherever you are John, You must be laughing your ass off that I’m actually doing this. {He ties shoe} Because this, this is even crazier than you are.”
Jack puts John’s envelope in John’s left side of his jacket. “And here. You can have that back. I‘ve already heard everything you had to say, John. You wanted me to go back, I’m going back.”
Jack closes the coffin and tells him to “Rest in peace.”

Jack talks to the agent at the Ajira counter. {color- Red} Jack is asked the reason he’s transporting Mr. Bentham to Guam.

Jack- “These are his wishes. He wanted to be buried there.”
The agent asks who will be the recipient of the deceased upon arrival, is there a funeral home or…?
Jack- “Me. I’ll be escorting the body.”
Jack claims his relation to the deceased, “He was a friend.”
The agent informs Jack, due to the increased security measures they are required to open the casket and perform a screening. He assures Jack it’s all done with the care. Jack understands.
Jack sees Kate walk by. He has feelings for her. Jack signs a form and is given his boarding pass. A man on the Ajira line gives Jack his condolences, “I’m sorry you lost your friend.”
Passengers are asked to remove their jackets, sweaters,  jewelry and footwear to pass security. {Jewelry?!} Remove laptops and electronic devices from their cases… Jack watches the people at the security scanners. {Looking for Kate, perhaps.}

Sun arrives and Jack is happy to see her. Jack thought she might change her mind, but here she is. Sun tells him if there is any chance Jin is still alive, “I have to be on that plane.”
They see {Oceanic sign} Sayid is being escorted by a woman. He is in custody.
They board Ajira.

The preliminary boarding call for flight 3-1-6. {Honolulu and Guam} departing from gate 15. {sounds like eight fifteen

The Agent also announces for anyone on the standby list that they’ll have plenty of seats available.
Hurley reads the Spanish version of Y: The Last Man. He runs up to the counter to tell the agent “There are no standbys.”

She sees there are 78 seats open
Hugo Reyes admits to buying those 78 seats, “They’re not open, they’re mine. Check and see.”
The agent asks why he doesn’t want the travelers to get to their destinations. Hugo looks at the waiting travelers and tells the agent, “It doesn’t matter why. They can take the next plane.”
Jack meets up with Hurley, “What are you doing here? How did you know about the…”
Hurley tells him all that matters is that, “I’m here, right?”

Jack is glad that he’s there. Hurley looks troubled, “OK then. Let's do this. After you.”

Jack leads the way.

He boards. {Row 8 on his left.} Jack and Sayid see each other.   It seems that Sayid wants to talk to Jack, but he can’t.   Sun is in her seat looking at her wedding ring on her hand.   Jack sees Kate, wearing her incognito sunglasses; she made it.   Jack finds his seat. Hurley boards with a guitar case; he puts the case at the seat to his left.
The staff, assuming “that should be everybody“; Ben runs up, arm in a sling, “Hold up! Wait please. Thank you for not closing it.”

Ben boards; he makes eye contact with Sayid. Upset Hurley jumps up, “Wait! What’s he doing here?…No, No! He can‘t come!”
Jack tells Hurley if he wants to get back this is how it has to be.
Hugo- “No one told me he was gonna be here.”
Ben-“Who told you to be here, Hugo?”
The stewardess asks if every thing’s OK.   Jack assures everything is fine.   Hurley will be fine, although he is visibly concerned.  The stewardess give Jack, seat 8C and envelope found by security while screening his cargo.  She informs them to take their seats; they will be pushing back for takeoff.

Ben asks Jack what that is {envelope}.

Nothing.
Ben and Jack take their seats, separated by the isle.  Jack looks back to the passengers sitting in the section behind them and asks Ben, “And the other people that are on this plane, what’s gonna happen to them?”
Ben- “Who cares?”

Ajira takes off.
They fly through the air. {Note the faces of our Castaways; Mixed emotions.} Jack sits next to sad Kate, “It’s pretty crazy, huh?”
Kate-“Which part?”
Jack- “Hurley, Sayid, being… on the same plane. How did they end up here?
Kate says they bought a ticket.
Jack- “You don’t think that it means something. That somehow, we’re all back together?
Kate-“We’re on the same plane, Jack. Doesn’t mean we’re together.” {WOW!! That is a VERY important statement.}
The pilot welcomes the passengers via the p.a.. The pilot is Frank J. Lapidus.   Jack is shocked. Lapidus tells the passengers to relax, sit back and enjoy the in flight movie.
Jack tells the stewardess he needs to talk to the pilot, his old friend; know he’s on board. She will but tells him to sit down because he can’t be near the cockpit door when it’s open.
Jack understands. The stewardess phones Lapidus with the request.

Clean shaven Frank comes out of the cockpit, “Well, hello Doc. Small world. What are you doing going to Guam?”

Jack- “What are you doing here, Frank?”
Frank tells him he picked this gig up about eight months ago, “I fly this route all the time. Sometimes I take the big birds to New Delhi.”
Frank notices Sayid, Hurley and Kate, “Wait a second. We’re not going to Guam, are we?”

Night:

The plane is still en route.  Ben sits reading Ulysses.   Anxious Jack asks Ben, “How can you read?”
Ben- “My mother taught me.”
Ben smiles and tells Jack he can read because it beats what he’s doing. Jack is “waiting” for something to happen.
Jack- “And what is gonna happen?”

Ben- “You tell me Jack. You’re the one who got to stay after school with Miss Hawking.”
Jack asks Ben if he knew that Locke killed himself.     Ben of course says he did not know. {LMFAO!! Perhaps Locke isn‘t "dead", wink, wink
Jack takes out the envelope, “They found this stuffed in his pocket. I‘ve been trying to get rid of it, but it‘s like it‘s following me. I know this sounds crazy but, it feels like John needs me to read it.”
Ben- “Why don’t ya then?….Is it because you‘re afraid.”
Jack- “Afraid of what?”

Ben-  “Afraid that he blames you? That it’s your fault he killed himself?”
Jack says it wasn’t his fault
Ben-  “No, Jack, it wasn’t your fault.”
Ben gives him some privacy.
Jack opens the letter by tearing one end open.
The loose leaf letter reads…
Jack,
I wish you had be lie ved me.
JL.
The plane starts to shake and rumble, waking Kate and Sayid. {Metal sounds.} Hurley came prepared with eye shades; he tells the man sitting next to him to fasten his seatbelt. Hurley puts on his eye shades

They all fasten their seat belts. Metal sounds, beeping, buzzing, alarm, bright light!
Woosh!…
Jack wakes up on the ground in the bamboo forest.   He gets up and looks at the torn piece of the letter {I wish}

Hurley calls out for help. Jack runs to him in the waterfall. Hurley holds onto the guitar case.
Jack wakes up Kate on the rocks.

Kate- “The plane. Where’s the plane?”
Jack doesn’t know, after that light he woke up in the jungle.
Kate- “So, this is it? It’s just us?”
Jack isn’t sure, “Do either of you remember crashing?”

Hurley- “Crashing. No. One second being tossed around, the next thing I know I’m in the lagoon.”
Kate-“Where’s Sun and Sayid? Where‘s Ben?”

Jack tells them to spread out and search the jungle, “If we come across anybody from the plane we’ll….” They hear an engine {music-Yeah your kisses, feel so right….you had another man….last night.} A Dharma van pulls up {Shiny and clean} An armed man gets out. {Sheriff star on jumpsuit
It’s Jin! He seems to grin at the three in the water.

316 is a GREAT episode!  Something that jumped out at me as soon as I heard it was the line spoken by Eloise to "student" Jack...“Which is why you need to give John something of your fathers.”   This brings me back to House of the Rising Sun,  when John told guitar-less Charlie that "The island might give you what you’re looking for, but you have to give the Island something"...and John is the one who holds out his hand (as the representative of the Island or the Island itself).   Since the beginning I have felt and connected John to the "Island" and the "monster".    Ask yourself this question, is John the literal connection to the "Island" or just the proxy/substitute?    I know what I feel and think about it.

Things to note…Questions to ask…
Grandpa Ray. Mom. Dad. Lineage
316 is tied to Locke and Eko. Guitar case- Charlie
Magic tricks, games, cons.
"Fraidy-Cat Rabbit"= Jack
Exercises, Tests, School, Learning, Equations and Variables.  Student.
Recreate the circumstances. I call Fucking Shenanigans! Different airline. Jack puts the black shoes on Locke, not white tennis shoes, Sayid was the prisoner, Hurley reads graphic novel instead of comic book. Jack has a letter. Sawyer had a letter on Oceanic. And so many more things.
How many times has Jack had to recreate the original flight?  Jack is starting from the same starting position we've seen him in before.
Locke’s suicide note wasn’t much of a suicide note.
But I noted the word believed me was written be lie ved.
✈ Bentham is noted as the deceased not John Locke.
Jack wakes up in Bamboo forest.  Hurley's in the water, Kate on a rock. Is this how it was last time?
The Lamp Post…Can you say Narnia?
Who built the pendulum?
Who is the co-pilot?
Resurrection.  {Come alive again-rebirth}
Jack asks Ben how can he read? Ben says his mother taught him. His mother died in childbirth.
The butcher shop, not across the street from the funeral parlor????
Jack living in a different apartment/home.
Jack calls his grandfather "Ray", and didn’t pursue the issue of knowing Aaron’s whereabouts. For so much family connections, there is too much of a “family” disconnection going on.
Ray describes Kate with freckles. They both like to be on the move/run. Kate stayed with “Ray” in Australia. Granddad Ray calls Jack “Kiddo, a word Christian uses.
Hurley says Ben can’t come!!!
Funny, the word “gig” is a common word used by us musicians.
Hurley puts eye shades when the turbulence starts. He knew what to expect.
Follow the rules…Widmore.
WINDOWS.

This was such a great episode. For me it had a Wizard of Oz feeling to it. It’s time for me to start bringing philosopher Immanuel Kant into the John Locke layer of the LOST story. We will get more into him, his work and purpose over the next few weeks. Immanuel Kant was an 18th-century German philosopher. He is regarded as one of the most influential thinkers of modern Europe and of the late Enlightenment. His most important work is the Critique of Pure Reason, an investigation into the limitations and security of reason itself.

You know, whenever I hear the smoke monster pull someone it sounds like something being cranked, gears, chains.  I sometimes visualize it as an anchor being pulled up/lowered, or sometimes giant gates being opened or closed. {lol}  Taking some of the things I keep in mind about what "may" be going on in the story, I wanted to test something out. I gave my son a word association type test the other day. I wanted to see if he, without being a LOST viewer, perceived the same "visual" as I did. I only gave him certain clue words that are used in direct association with the "island". Then I asked him what I described. Keep in mind, this tiny experiment was only for me to question one single layer of the story, nothing more.
The words I gave him were: Cabin-Wheel-Hatches-Medical Station-Kitchen-Church/chapel-Armory-Brig-Anchor-Deck-Dock.
My son’s answer was…a military ship or aircraft carrier.
Maybe it’s time to revisit The Helgus Antonius. The container/hospital ship operated by the Hanso Foundation.

I am compelled to dig deeper into Kate’s comment “We’re on the same plane, Jack. It doesn’t mean we’re together.”    I find this line very important, giving us a huge bit of information.

Love to all who are “LOST”™

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right! The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either! You all know I hate spoilers! And I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me off my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode, we all know what they are. Understood? Let the fun begin! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance.

DSA Week 6. Fashion Faux Pas & Frequent Flyer Miles.

Hi Losties!
In this week's DSA Damon and Carlton's email wishes all us "Dharma Folk" a happy new year. They also gave us a bit of info on what they have been up to during the holiday break. They have been spending time with family {always a great thing!}, reading, writing, and catching up on "Top Chef".

We are artfully asked if we know anything about the airline. Ajira Airways
Their sign off is sweet with well wishes for a Happy New Year, and we're told to ring in the New Year safely..."No DUI's, okay?" {That's interesting to close with a comment about DUI's. lol}

Dark suit, white shoes?
This week's "Post Christmas, Pre-New Year" video clip, complete with edits and beeps, starts off with the boys revealing this is "Take 2" of the filming of this clip. Apparently someone goofed and they had to start over.
Damon looks as if he’s “somewhere else” for a moment. lol. But then he tells Carlton, “Don’t blow it.”
They “act” as if they celebrated the holidays, and got everything they wanted. But in reality this segment was filmed the first week December.

They tackle more “fan” questions from all over the world. WooooHooo! Good Times!!

One fan from New York asked a rockin' question, wondering if Geronimo Jackson will have a reunion to record a follow up album to Magna Carta.  The boys tell us Eddy Kitsis is a Geronimo Jackson historian, and has researched the band extensively Several of the band members, including Keith Strutter apparently are…{Guess…)... Missing. {Is that the same as in “Hiding”? lol}
A reunion probably isn’t in the cards, but, they have unearthed a recording from the mid 70’s.

Another fan asks why Jack’s dad is wearing white shoes with a dark suit on the island. Who would bury someone dressed in this fashion faux pas? It is not a screw up from their costume department. We will find out more about this bold fashion statement this season. That's great because I have many sleepless nights thinking about this. Really, who wears white shoes with a dark suit, red shoes with a dark suit, black and white vans? The "Worst Dressed List" goes on and on!!

Another great question asked, if there will be a lovin' for Ben. And fan Steve Downer, who Damon has a bit of fun with his name says, “Did you go to Downer’s surprise party? What a blast.” Anyway, Mr. Downers asks if we’ll see the Four Toed Statue again.

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right! Things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either. I hate spoilers! I stand clear of reading certain sites, as to not take me off my own research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode, we all know what they are. Good! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues in bold.

DSA WEEK 3. Muahahaha

DSA Week 3 is very interesting.

A free "NAMASTE" ringtone! Love that!!

Ok, this is just a thought, but..the first thoughts I had after reading the email and then watching the video was “comics”. You’re all going to think I really went off the deep end with this one, but bear with me.
Could it be that Darlton is giving hints via the comics?
I know, you’re asking, “But Karen, WTF does that mean?”
What the hell do I know? Maybe it’s on the idea of putting a call out for help, think Batman. When someone was in trouble they’d make a call on the Bat phone and/or light the Bat signal to call for help.
Let me go on…
The email goes on to tell us to expect something in episodes 501, 502, 503. They tell us that the writers suffer from a disease called Onomatopoeia. This is a form of linguistics. Onomatopoeia- Greek, (onoma, = "name") and (poieō, = "I make" or "I create") means "name creation.”
Created words that imitates the sound it is describing, such as "boom", "zoom", "click", "bunk", "clang", "buzz", or "bang".
Damon and Carlton call upon their friend Gregg Nations to present some of these special words.
A place we find such uses of these words is the world of Comic Books. {And the famous Batman show from the late 60’s. lol}

Are you a bookworm? I am!
Damon and Carlton show us a few books; including Harry Potter.
Darlton introduce two new very intense books to be hinted to in season 5 (507).

Damon reads a short passage from book Ulysses by James Joyce, page 316 to be exact. The book/passage is about Irish Nationalism, a game and mentions the name Hurley.

Stephen King’s book THE STAND is an AWESOME tale of the end of the world, with a bunch of chosen survivors on their trek to Vegas and partake in a gigantic battle of good vs. evil. The end of the world, two sides, Good vs. Evil….sound familiar?
Page 316 of this book mentions the word echo a few times.

Then the newest Dharma Logo is introduced.  Here’s proof of another station yet to be uncovered. Is the logo of a lamp post? It appears to be a beacon of some kind. A lighthouse perhaps, but a beacon nonetheless. {Light}

We have had many references to distress beacons in the show before. Henry Gale mentions it. Also "beacon" is mentioned in the episode The Economist. We also have the blinking red beacons on those who parachute, food drops, etc.

Things to note…Questions to ask…
* Comic Books? {The Flash-Green Lantern in Faster Friends shows two halves of a whole}
* Onomatopoeia is also a DC Comics super villain who faced the Green Arrow and Batman.
* Beacon- is used to guide navigators. A lighthouse is used for the same reason, but at sea.
* Beacon, New York.
* Beacon, Australia
-There are variations on the name in Canada and England.
* 316- Could it be the connection of 3:16 on Eko’s stick? Further Instructions for John to follow.
- The Western Jin Dynasty ends. The Jin Dynasty,
one of the 6 dynasties, followed the 3 Kingdoms period and preceded the Southern and Northern Dynasties in China.
- A new flight number?
* Two Sides.
* Huge battle.
* Hurley
* Will we see Eko again?
* How is Penelope Widmore playing into all this?
* Jacob.

There is no doubt that this literary show gives us hints to things about two sides, a huge battle, starting over, and so much more.
But in this case,with this email, are any of the literary clues coming from comic books?

Is the newest Dharma Station logo a hint to a lamp post or lighthouse, lighting the way to guide people into port, guide them home? Or is it a station to go to and put a call out for help?
Either way, I want in!
So….RRRINING! RRRINING! CALL ME!

Further Instructions

Let's talk about LOST! FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS.
Eye opens...John Locke; looking up at the trees. {Just as Jack did in the pilot episode} Locke hears the sounds of birds, nature and footsteps running through the jungle.  John tries to vocalize but nothing comes out.   Naked Desmond is running past looking around as if confused/lost.   Locke sits up; the right side of his head is bloody. He stands up, he looks strong. {Like Super Mario.} Eko's Jesus stick falls out of the tree and falls upon Locke. The scripture reads: HAB 1:3, LIFT UP YOUR EYES AND LOOK NORTH. John 3:05, GEN 13:14, ACTS 4:12, 4:8:15:16,     ROM 6:21.
Focused John approaches his beach camp tent. {with a hammock}
Claire and Charlie are hanging out and observe John disassemble his tent.  Claire wonders "When did John get back? What's he doing? Well, where's he been? Where is everyone else? Don't you think you should go find out?"
Limping Locke starts to take apart his tent. {removes the silver tarp}  This confuses Claire yet Charlie looks amused. {Charlie's shirt symbol 'a cross'.)  Claire wants Charlie to find out about Locke.

Locke is at Eko's church structure. He is building something within the structure.
Charlie–"So you're gone for a whole day after a massive hatch detonation. You don't call. You don't write."
Charlie asks him if he's interrupting something as Locke isn't paying attention to Charlie's small talk.
John can't speak.
Sarcastic Charlie mocks Locke a bit, asking if he's a mute. "I am sorry about that."  He also asks about Eko and Desmond, "Are they off being mute and building structures as well?"
Frustrated Locke tries to pantomime to Charlie that he needs to speak to the "Island".   John acts out his intentions and Charlie tries to interpret his actions: I.E. John needs to speak to church, the sky, sand, the trees "Yeah, I've heard they're wonderful conversationalists".   With his knife John draws a circle in the sand and Charlie guesses "Island".
Charlie-"You need to speak to the island."

Later, Charlie is working on the beach/Dharma food pantry/kitchen. Limping Locke gets a note pad and writes a note to Charlie with a sharpie permanent marker. {Cap in his mouth}
The note says "I need your help". {Charlie is standing on the table under the parachute roof}
Charlie-"Since when do you need my help?" {he says with an attitude}
Locke flips the page and writes 'I need u 2 stand guard'.
Charlie reads this aloud. He also tells John that he detests him. He reminds John of repeatedly punching him in the face and accused him of using heroine when he was not.
John writes another note '@ the sweat lodge'.
Charlie-"What the sodding hell is a sweat lodge?"
John prompts Charlie to follow him.
Flash Whoosh
Locke is driving a (blue) pickup truck. {Plate # 5Q49938. Road sign California 36.} Thunder is heard and it starts to rain. Locke picks up a young guy hitchhiking. {The guy wearing a Geronimo Jackson tee-shirt and an army jacket. Locke wearing a plaid shirt} The guy is headed to Eureka but Locke can get him as far as Bridgeville.   The hitchhiker hops in and tosses a large duffle bag into the bed of the truck and keeps his sling back-backpack with him.
This is Eddie.
Friendly Locke asks Eddie "What's in Eureka?"
He's shares that he's headed to Eureka for some work, cutting timber. John-"Is that what you do?"
Eddie doesn't know if that's what he does, "I just know I had to get out of where I came from; Mom's dead, Dad's a drunk." {Watch the look Locke gives here.}
The rain passes and stops.
A police officer pulls Locke over.
Eddie asks Locke, "What'd you rob a bank?"
Locke says seriously-"Afraid so."
The officer asks for his license and registration.
John-"Was I speeding Officer?"
The cop {Williams} informs Locke his taillight is out.
Officer Williams-"Will you both please step out of the vehicle."
They do. Williams asks what John has back here; referring to the back of the pickup truck.
Locke admits the groceries and guns are his; the transactions and paperwork for the guns are all in the RED notebook in the duffle. {Log books} {Important Note: Williams pulls back a silver tarp to reveal the guns}
The paper shows JOHNATHAN LOCKE. San Francisco USA Ca 94099. 5'10" 175 male D/O/B 11/15/1946 and it's 5/30/56 on his California drivers license..
Locke asks if they are free to go.  Williams threatens he could still take him in for picking up a hitch hiker.

Eddie lies and says Locke is his uncle, "I called him and he picked me up."
Locke is surprised.   Williams tells them to "get outta here".

Eddie-"So what is with all the guns? Uncle."
Locke just smiles.
Flash Whoosh
In the "Locke built" sweat lodge mixing up a batch of his magic paste. He takes a taste.
Charlie is inspecting the silver tarp made sweat lodge (and palm leaves) and comments that he likes the indoor fireplace, "very snazzy".
Charlie, still with the attitude, sees John taste the mixture and wonders, "What's that? You're not taking drugs, are you John? I only ask because of the strict zero tolerance policy you've enacted. And I wouldn't want you to have start punching yourself in the face."
Locke shows Charlie the note with "I need u 2 stand guard" note again. {NOTE the writing is different; words spelled different}
Charlie says he understands and he'll stand guard "out here" while Locke goes into his magic hut in case he devolves into a monkey.
Locke writes "Don't come in".   He wants Charlie to be clear on that rule and Charlie says he gets it.

{Charlie stands guard outside the sweat lodge/hut, but inside the church structure.}

Inside the sweat lodge Locke eats some of the magic paste while sitting (legs crossed) in front of the fire. He pours water on the fire and stares...waiting.
There is Boone. {His hair is longer than when he "died".} He touches John on his right shoulder and says "Hi John. It's good to see you again."
Locke tries to apologize for him-dying.
Boone-"What's that John?"
Locke mouths "I'm sorry."
Boone-"Oh. You're sorry. That's okay. But I was the sacrifice the island demanded" {How would Boone have heard Locke say that statement?}
John shakes his head no; tries to talk.
Boone-"Don't worry. You'll speak when you have something worth saying. I'm here to help you find your way again. So you can bring the family back together. {What family? Who?} Come on. I want to show you something."
Locke can't move his legs.
Boone shows Locke a  wheelchair on its side with a squeaking turning wheel, "John. You're gonna need that."
John looks puzzled. The wheelchair stands upright on its own.

We see the airport. International Departure Gates sign. Plane flying upward. Boone is wheeling Locke in the wheelchair. {We see the girl soccer team with the numbers on their backs.}
Boone- "John someone in this airport's in serious danger. You are the only one who can save them".
{We see Charlie, Claire and the baby, looking very happy-very family. Charlie is wearing a black tux jacket and rings on fingers. A cross ring on right pinky. Claire is wearing a ring on her left ring finger.}
Locke points at the little family.
Boone-"Not them. They'll be fine. For a while".
Then we see Jin, Sun and Sayid on (que) line. They are bordered by Red queue line.  Sun has tickets in her hand. The little passport booklets are RED. She also has a RED paper bag and gives it to Jin in anger. {Speaks Korean} Sayid prompts them to move forward.
Boone- "I think Sayid's got it."
Hurley is behind the Oceanic ticket counter. {In charge of tickets} He is wearing a uniform with a name tag says Hugo. "Next Please"   Hugo says with a smile.   He is entering the numbers into the 'old-Swan' computer. You can hear the computer reset.
Charlie is the next person we see immediately after Hurley says 'next please'.
Boone-"Not Hurley. {Hurley doesn't need saving}
We see Desmond dressed as a pilot descend the escalator with three women. The first woman is wearing Pearl earrings. His Pilot jacket has three stripes on the sleeve. {He is laughing; enjoying himself. I can't hear what he says}
Boone-"Forget it. He's helping himself."
Then we see Kate and Sawyer on line on the other side of a glass partition. She takes a bin and hands it to Sawyer. You can hear him say "Wipe the stars out of your eyes, Sweetheart." {Beeping} Sawyer takes a ticket or something out of her back pocket. He's holding a phone or walki talki.
Then we see Jack take off his watch, put it in the  bin and push it forward. Ben scans/wands him. Ben's patch has stars on it and his name tag says Henry Gale. Locke tries to wave his arms franticly as if to get their attention.
Boone-"There's nothing you can do for them. Not yet. First you have to clean up your own mess." {This line repeats over and over. We can see Kate push her bin forward.} Boone squats down to look at John. {Almost as if to say- 'Do you know what I'm saying?'}
Locke is troubled.
Locke has more blood on his head now. Boone is not there. Locke looks around for him. {There are 3 escalators.}
Boone calls out, "Come up here, John."
Boone is on the upper level waving him up...{You can hear the metal gear sounds we heard when John was getting pulled by "the monster".}
Locke who is unable to walk lays on the escalator and rides the steps up; ascending to the next level. There he crawls, puts his left hand in blood on the ground. {We see the number 2 behind him} There is the scripture stick with blood on it. Locke touches it with his right hand.
Boone-"Clean it up John. They've got him. You don't have much time"
{Boone bloody with ripped shirt. Who has who?}
Locke wakes up! He gets up to leave the sweat lodge but we see the brief image of a snarling animal.
Locke falls out of the sweat lodge. {It scared him.}

Charlie asked him what happened. Locke walks over and takes out his big knife.
Charlie-"What are you doing?
Locke speaks, "I'm going to save Mr. Eko's life."

Locke walks through the jungle with Charlie. Locke finds Eko's cross on the cord on a blade of grass and states that he/Eko was 'dragged' this way by the polar bear. Charlie recalls that "Sawyer killed the Polar Bear."
Locke-"Sawyer killed 'A' polar bear." {Conformation of more bears}
Locke discovers blood on the ground. He tells Charlie he's going to go on alone; Charlie should go back to Claire. Charlie says he'll take his chances.
Locke insists, "You don't want to go with me, Charlie. Bad things happen to people who hang around with me."
Flash Whoosh
John's truck gets let into a gate in a beautiful area with lots of trees. A child {Bobby} opens the gate for them and John gives the child jelly beans. {The gate has 2 animal skulls on it} The people working there all seems happy. They wave at John.
Inside we see a sweat lodge {with lite white smoke coming out of the top} and Eddie asks about the sweat lodge.
John explains it's for anybody who wants to go in there, light a fire and get it nice and hot and meditate; and then you're supposed to figure out what do with your life, what direction to take.  He tells Eddie "Go on in there and figure out if you're a farmer or a hunter.
Eddie-"So which are you John?"
John doesn't answer him; he just smiles.

The two guys walk over to a very large table where people are gathered for supper. Eddie is introduced to Mike and Jan. {Lots of ugly plaid shirts abound.} John tells them that Eddie is looking for logging work. The nice people welcome Eddie.
Mike mentions "John's a very special guy."
Jan tells Eddie to grab a spot. Mike comments on Eddie's interest of the band Geronimo Jackson. We also learn it's one of Eddie's Dad's old shirts. Mike says his dad has excellent taste.  Mike introduces the guest John brought to supper to everyone.   The group says "Grace" before eating. This includes John's speech of how he's thankful for the food,  friends and for the rain today so that Adam will stop grumbling about the droughts, "And for me. Thank You for helping me stop being so angry.  And for helping me find a real familyUh, because they're a hell of a lot better than the one I used to have so, let's eat. Amen."
Locke offers Eddie potatoes. They dig in.  Eddie thanks John.
Locke and Charlie continue through the jungle and they come upon the imploded hatch.
Charlie-"Is that the hatch?"
John-"What's left of it."
Charlie-"What happened?"  {WTF? Was he NOT fucking there? Charlie was there with Eko!}
Sad Locke says it looks like it imploded.

They come across an active kill where he also finds a tuft of white Polar Bear fur; deciding that whatever was eating the animal was a polar bear. With that they hear angry growls! They run and It is chases them! They stop and Locke throws his knife at 'It'.
That 'it' ends up being Hurley.
Locke's knife was stopped by Hurley's canteen.  {Where the fuck "It" go? Hmm...}
Hurley tells Locke about his adventures with the Others; that the Other's kept Sawyer, Jack and Kate, but they send him back to tell everyone else that "We can't ever go over there."  He also tells him that Henry is there and is like their "leader".
Locke stops and looks around.
Hurley-"So. What do we do?"
Locke is focused on his task at hand. He tells Hurley to do what they told him to do; Go back to camp and tell the others.
Hurley-"You're not gonna do anything?"
Locke-"I am doing something. Go back to the beach Hugo."
Hurley-"Wait, where are you guys going?".
Charlie explains that the "Island" told Locke that he has to save Eko. {Apparently a bear got him; he's just made an active kill. {Is this all an assumption?}
This concerns Hurley. "What bear?!"
Locke and Charlie move on.

They find more white fur. Locke directs them where to go. Charlie tells Locke about when he used to get high he watched nature programs on the B'b... Polar bears are meant to be quite clever. They're like the Einstein's of the bear community. {hehehe!} {Charlie's eye color change?}
They stop at a black rock; there is a cave.
Flash Whoosh
John and Eddie comment about a hot young girl walking by carrying flowers/plant in a basket.  Locke comments that "She's like half my age."
But Lizzy's too granola for Eddie. What she really wants is a daddy, like everyone else here. {WTF, Eddie? Was that a question asked on purpose to get a reaction?}
John doesn't find that funny. Eddie says he was joking. They grab their baskets and head out.
As they pass the table of peaches Eddie pursues the Daddy question with John. He wants to know how come he doesn't talk about him. John feels it's nothing worth talking about.
Eddie looks over his shoulder and asks "What's going on in that greenhouse over there?"     He offers to go over there and help them with the fertilizer.
John says No; they have Orchard Duty.
{The greenhouse door is silver/gray}

Later Eddie asks John, "What's the big secret,John?"   He wants to know about the greenhouse; what are they hiding
Eddie's been there for 6 weeks. John tells him he's still a guest there and these things take time, but Eddie wants info.
Eddie's not blind, "Did you forget that you had a duffle bag full of guns when you brought me here?"
He goes on to say "Mike and Jan fold their hands every night before chow and talk about how we're family. Your family has too many secrets. Now I see the fertilizer going into that greenhouse. I know what's going on. I want in."
He wants in on whatever you guys are trying to blow up.
Amused John laughs and tells him that he'll talk to Mike and Jan.

Back at the cave Locke prepares for his trip into the cave. He tells Charlie he's not to go in. Locke will do this alone. {It is AMAZING that Locke happens to bring ALL the right stuff in his backpack for a search and rescue into a Polar Bear cave. Including fucking hairspray.}
Charlie's annoyed, "You don't get to tell me what I can't do. If I want to go in there, I'll go in there."
Locke feels there's no reason for Charlie to go in there. He tells Charlie to go back. Locke's going in there because he's supposed to go in there.
Charlie-"If it all goes to plan, then we probably won't even see the bear, will we?"
Locke-"Hopefully he won't smell us."
Locke's all camo'd, hairspray in pocket, shares a smile with Charlie, lights his torch and heads in.

Hurley, still on his trek back to camp hears noises and thinks "bear".
He's afraid- "Bear... is that you? Who's there?"
A voice says, "Are you alone brother?"
Hurley says yeah.
Naked Desmond is revealed.
Surprised Hurley says, "Dude, I'm not alone" and shields his eyes. He asks Hurley for some clothes. Hurley asks what happened to his.
Desmond- "I woke up in the jungle like this."
Hurley surmises the hatch blew off his underwear. {Did Locke tell Hurley about the implosion? Locke looked kind of preoccupied before. Charlie was surprised by the implosion.} Hurley gives him a funky smelly tie dye shirt. {With a nice spiral pattern}

Locke walks in the dark cave lit only by his torch, kicks an old metal Tonka dump truck. {They haven't been made for years.}
Flash Whoosh
Whistling John (twirling a long stick) walks over to the greenhouse. He is told by the person standing guard {Kim} that Mike and Jan were looking for him. John feels then its "Good timing ."
Kim opens the door and lets him in.
Mike and Jan are running around frantic.  {Inside note the silver ductwork}
Mike wants to know where the cash is. Jan tells him it's in the bag with the money in it. {haha} He asks about bank records. Shouldn't they sort out what they can trace?
Jan tells him there's no time!
There are files and file boxes everywhere.
Inside this greenhouse is lots of weed. John asks what's going on. They are hurriedly packing everything up; they're leaving.
Mike tells idiot John that he screwed up big time, but John doesn't understand. "You're leaving?"
To show him why, Jan slams a file into his chest and reveals that Eddie is a cop.
Humboldt County Sheriff. Edward F. Colburn. Rank-Officer. Employee number-84023.
Mike-"Do you know how much jail time we would get for this much weed?"
Jan-"Nice picture, huh? Got him fresh out of the academy."
John is very confused as he feels Eddie was just hitchhiking. Jan says that he was there waiting for him! Eddie has been there for 6 weeks gathering evidence "because you brought him here!"
John finds this impossible.
Mike says that he "played you for a sucker. Now it's over."
John tells them to wait; stop! He knows that Eddie hasn't been in the greenhouse so he must still be gathering evidence, etc.. It's not too late to protect all of us. It's not too late to fix this.
John-"I can fix this."
Mike asks him how.
Flash Whoosh
In the bear cave John finds bones, human and animal skulls and canvas/bag with the Pearl station logo on it. There is injured Eko. They see each other. {Eko still seems responsive here.} Just then we see a bear grab Eko! Locke and the bear literally have a tug of war with Eko in the middle.   John takes out his trusty hair spray can and fires at the bear! The bear backs off.
John helps Eko out of the cave to where Charlie is. They both pick up Eko and head back.

Hurley and Desmond on their walk back to camp are discussing what happened with the hatch.
Hurley inquires, "When you say turned a key, do you mean a key, key?"
Desmond-"It was a failsafe key."
Hurley-"That seems kind of convenient...I'm just sayin' if you had this magic key the whole time, why didn't you like... use it?"
Desmond-"I didn't know what would happen."
Hurley-"So what did happen?"
Desmond-"The fail safe key must have detonated the Electromagnetic anomaly. Made the hatch implode."
Hurley-"And you didn't implode?" {Nope. Desmond was at ground zero and he didn't implode! That is very convenient and suspicious.}
Desmond- "No."
Hurley- "You're not going to turn into the Hulk or something?"
Des scoffs.
Hurley- "So is that what made the blender noise and the sky turn purple?"
Desmond's afraid he missed that. Hurley sarcastically mentions the fail safe-ing.
Hurley-"FYI, The whole island vibrated. And Kate and Jack and Sawyer saw it too right before they had bags pulled over their heads."
Desmond tells him not to worry, "Locke's gonna go after them. He said so in his speech."
Hurley wants to know what speech because all Locke said was that he was gonna save Eko and kill bears.   Desmond has a realization that maybe that part {didn't really happen yet}, and chalks it up to being shook up.

Charlie and Locke carry Eko. Locke comments about burning the bear pretty good.
Charlie-"Now that we've survived this suicide mission, do you want to tell me what you saw?...In the spirit tent."
Locke tells him he saw Boone and that Boone told him to clean up his own mess.
Charlie-"As dead as he may be. I agree with Boone. If you would have kept pressing that button like Eko told you too..."
Locke-"We wouldn't have had to save Eko in the first place. Yeah. Charlie, that's what cleaning up your own mess means."
Charlie-"Spoken like someone whose had few too many messes to clean."
Flash Whoosh
John and Eddie are in the woods deer hunting.
Eddie asks him if he's spoken to Mike and Jan yet.
Locke says yes and that he should bring him by the greenhouse tonight after supper and they would explain everything. Eddie thinks that great.
John acts like he spotted a deer over Eddies shoulder. {Both the rifles have scopes on them.} John has the gun pointed at Eddie.
John- "Did you know it would be me? In the truck? Did you know it would be me driving? Did they choose me?"
Eddie- "They? John. I have no idea what you're talking about."
John informs him that his rifle isn't loaded.
Eddie admits "Yeah, They chose you, John...Because you hadn't been here long, didn't have a criminal record and psych profile said you would be amenable for coercion."
Eddie demands he lower the gun.
John is confused/hurt by all this.
Eddie tells him it isn't personal, he starts to back away and John orders him to stop.
Eddie isn't worried because John won't shoot him, "You're not a murderer. You're a good man. You're a farmer."
John-"Nope. Not a farmer. I was a hunter. I'm a hunter." {WAS?}
Eddie tells him is going to walk away. John cries with the gun still pointed at Eddie back. It appears that he lowers the gun.
Flash Whoosh
Locke and Charlie stop to rest with Eko under a tree. They hear a stream. They need water for Eko. Charlie offers to go fill up the water bottle.
John apologizes to Eko {Who appears unconscious.} "I'm sorry.  Sorry I ever doubted ya. Sorry... I gave up on my faith in the Island. I messed up. Now our people are captured and... if I'd just listened to you, if I just let you...keep pushing the button. I could've gone with 'em. Protected 'em. I could have saved 'em."
Eko speaks, "You can still protect them. {Eko's eyes open but he doesn't move} You can still save them".
Locke- "I don't, I don't even know where they are."
Eko-"You will find them. After all... you are a hunter, John."
Charlie returns and John informs him Eko's awake, but he is not!   John tries to give him water.
Charlie-"Maybe we should just...get him back, John."

At the beach Claire is washing things.
Paulo is sleeping against the tree with a water bottle.
John, Charlie and Eko arrive. Paulo, Nikki run over; Hurley is there. They gather around them. They wonder if he's alive.   Nikki says they need Jack.
Hurley informs them "Jacks not coming back. They've got him."
They are confused that "Jack's gone."
Nikki- "When were you planning on telling us this Hurley?"
Paulo- "Who's they?"
John -"They are the Others. And yes, they've taken Jack and Kate and Sawyer…I'm gonna find our friends. I don't know how yet, but I will.  We're gonna find them, all of them.  And then we're gonna bring them home. But first things first...We gotta look after Mr. Eko. Paulo, Nikki, bring towels and water...Claire we gotta clean him up so bring the first aid supplies you can find."
Desmond is shown in Hurley's tye die shirt, throwing rocks into the water
Hurley realizes this is the speech that Desmond mentioned.
How did Desmond know ahead of time this would happen? Hurley says to Charlie that he just got hit with Deja vu... {FRIGGIN YES!!!}
Charlie-"Okay, Well, when that wears off can you get bandages from the kitchen?"
Hurley looks impressed.
Desmond is throwing rocks into the water.

Further Instructions is a GREAT EPISODE! And one with lots of information and ties to other episodes.
I have been talking about the clues/answers with the Locke vision since the day it aired.  When are John's "Flashes"  from?  How long is he with the commune?  Was a hunter? Is a hunter...Hmm?

There is another reference to something being built on the "Island".
Why would the implosion make John mute?

It is clear to me that this experience or at least parts of it, is happening while they are in an altered state/dream state, etc.  It is shown to us all over this episode.
Another very important bit of info given to us is that John Locke's role on the "Island" is very important and his purpose there is for the overall greater good.

THIS IS MAJOR IMPORTANT:
- Locke's D/O/B is 11/15/1946 in this episode and it's 5/30/56 on his California drivers license. In Deus ex Machina is mother Emily's D/O/B is 10/15/40... Was she 6 years old when she had him? 106? Maybe she's not his birth mother. Maybe more of our Losties are adopted or is "Locke's" whole life a lie?
Also from that episode, Deus Ex Machina, Locke has the vision with a bloody Boone and his mother. Locke is in the wheelchair.
With the scripture on the stick that falls upon Locke, although that is scripture, I can't help but note how it's chapters are written out.  They look more like time on a digital clock.

*Cutting timber- Sayid's friends in the apartment were 'tree cutters' too. We also know now that Horace was cutting trees in season 4 dream.
* The cop's uniform only has his Name-Williams, County Police. No other details.
* Locke eats the magic paste. When he made it for Boone it was put on open wound on his head.
* Hurley mentions the Hulk. Comic book character. A young man who was exposed by Gamma rays/Radiation, giving him the ability to become The Hulk.
* Is this the last we ever see of Eddie?
* Something/What is being grown, nurtured, harvested? WHAT? The Orchid Station.
* Who is in Geronimo Jackson?
* Structure within a structure.

VISION NOTES:
All these notes are original notes from 10/2006 with the added elements in red, of some things we know now (as of S4).   Go back and look at things I highlighted in the episode part of these notes.   The following are just extra things I wanted to point out.
* Locke's self induced hallucination/vision.
* Boone, a "dead" person is here to help John find his way. To bring what family back together? Who is family here? Who is related? We know now that Jack and Claire are related.
* Locke needs a wheelchair. Why? When?
* Boone- "John someone in this airport is in serious danger. You are the only one who can save them." EKO WAS NOT IN THE AIRPORT. John's next step is to find Eko and get instructions from him/stick. John does not save Eko.   Eko is not meant to be saved; he "dies" anyway.   It's info from the stick and "something" Eko tells him that must be part of John's "Further Instructions."   This is a 'means'/clue to get further instructions to John. Eko even used this term with John in '?'.
* NO WHERE IN THE VISION IS EKO MENTIONED AND TOLD TO BE SAVED.  Isn't it possible that John fucked up the interpretation of the vision. This episode is about John screwing up.
* Eko had vision/dream of Yemi/Locke wheelchair. There are ties with both.
* Signs in the airport. "Departure". Who is departing? Departure to where?
* Charlie and Claire will be alright-literally for a while. That was true.
* Charlie is next to die. And Charlie does indeed perish in the Looking Glass.
* Could Claire also be at risk for something? What about Aaron? We now see Claire with Christian at the end of season 4. And Aaron is with Kate.
* Hurley doesn't need help. He seems to be in charge of something. He has a role of importance here. He is working the check in counter/numbers. He is not a passenger.   Does he leave the "Island"?  Uh...I'm not sure. He may be more important to the "Island".   Does he get to decide who does leave?
* Jin and Sun conflict/baggage. Sayid moves them ahead. Are they VIP's, as it can be interpreted that they are in the First Class line.   Plus are they going to be able to leave the Island? I think may be the case. So yes.
* Desmond is wearing a Pilot uniform. What is he the pilot of?  The 3 girls...Does that represent his supposed 3 years on the "Island"?   One girl has Pearl Earrings. The Pearl station. Does he have ties to the Pearl Station? Hmmm?!!   Is Desmond's turn over?   Desmond is helping himself!  How? Will he use people to get what he wants?  Most likely. I feel and noted in my posts that Desmond used Charlie in season 3 to get to Penny.   He also is not a passenger. He's the pilot. Maybe more on the pilot thing is yet to be revealed.
* Desmond Descending-Locke Ascending.
* Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Ben on the other side of the glass. They are in line for departure. Just as Sun, Jin and Sayid are in line. {Ben's badge says Henry Gale} Jack gets' scanned by Ben, passes security. Just as Christian got scanned by Ana Lucia.
* Jack puts his watch in bin and moves it forward/through. Jack goes "home"!   Watch/Time and the "Island".
* How many are going "home"?   Jack. Kate. Sayid. Sun. Jin. I'm not 100 % sure about Sawyer because we see him take something out of Kate's back pocket. What could that represent? Maybe he 'takes' her ticket, so to speak. Maybe he saves her life. NOTE: We do know now Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sun, Sayid and Aaron leave the "Island".   So, besides seeing who leaves, we then have to find out who stays behind on the "Island", and who "dies."
* Locke's mother wears pearl earrings in season 4 Flash.
* John ascending the escalator the number 2Is that the next level?
* John doesn't have much time. Time. Does John not have enough time on the "Island"? Does time run different on the "Island"? Does time run slower on the "Island". If time runs slower, could that be clue to something about infamous time/space? How about the other extreme? What if the "Island" was hidden by water?
* A clue to two sides? And 2...
* Missing from this vision is original Castaway Rose who is still alive. I wonder why?
* John has to clean up his own mess. That is what has to happen first!
* I note that the first part of There's No Place Like Home should have been called Further Instructions part 2.
***Boone tells Locke in the vision "They've got him" and Hurley tells the camp "They've got him" talking about Jack!

It's important to note events and revelations of the Locke/Boone vision that has come to pass (such as Charlie dying, the Oceanic 6 go home, etc.) did NOT happen immediately after this episode. So couldn't there be other things mentioned by Boone, that weren't meant for the "immediate", maybe they were for events yet to happen. Events that are coming up now and may include the episodes Cabin Fever and There's No Place Like Home...and beyond.

Love to all who are "LOST"™

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right! Things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either. I hate spoilers! I stand clear of reading certain sites, as to not take me off my own research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode, we all know what they are. Good! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues in bold.
