Let's talk about LOST! Sundown.
An L.A. cabbie tells Sayid the meter doesn't stop until he gets out. Sayid has been sitting in the yellow cab outside of a lovely suburban home.
Sayid pays the man, "Keep the change."{Keep the change!}
Sayid brings yellow roses to the door, takes a deep breath and rings the bell. {Sayid's reflection.}
Nadia answers the door and is very happy to see him. She is married with two children; a boy and a girl. The children are happy to see that their Uncle Sayid is here.
The boy- "Where were you Uncle Sayid?"
Sayid shares he was in Sydney and when the girl asks "Where's Sydney?" a man replies that it's in Australia. The man remarks with intimidation about Sayid bringing flowers for his wife, but it was in fun as this is Sayid's brother, Omar.
Nadia pours tea and the little girl asks what he brought them from Australia. Sayid sends the children to look in his bag on the couch. Nadia feels it's good Sayid showed up, the children missed him.
Omar- "We're lucky he even showed up. The world traveler off on his exotic business trips."
Sayid- "Translating contracts for an oil company is hardly exotic...and it's painfully dull."
Omar mentions there's little adventure in the world of dry cleaning. Nadia feels Omar is being modest as he's just opened up a new store. Sayid congratulates him. Omar's cell rings and Nadia reminds him that they spoke about cell phones at the dinner table. Omar looks at the caller ID with wide eyes and determines dinner is over, "This is business."
Nadia asks Sayid if he received her letters. He did.
Nadia- "You never wrote back?"
Sayid doesn't answer. The kids run in excited over the awesome gift Uncle Sayid brought them back... a Boomerang. {Really?! It comes back around.}
The little girl tells her mommy they found a picture of her in Uncle Sayid's bag.
Omar hangs up the cell and looks over at Sayid and the family at the dinner table. Sayid sits "thinking."
{Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
Sayid walks through the passageway and barges into Dogen's room. "I want to talk to you. I want some answers."
Dogen is reading a book, "Answers to what?"
"Let's start with that machine. You hooked me up to this thing. You stuck needles in me. And you called it a test."
Dogen- "For every man there is a scale. On one side of the scale there is good. {holds up right hand} On the other side, evil. {holds up left black gloved hand} This machine tells us how the scale is balanced. And yours tipped the wrong way." {Which way?}
Sayid- "And that's why you tried to poison me."
Dogen confirms and thinks it would be best if Sayid was dead. {He says that with great hatred.}
Sayid-"You think you know me but you don't. I'm a good man. So if you're trying to kill me..."
Dogen attacks him and they fight! Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting! They tear up the place until Dogen is about to plunge an artist's paint brush into his throat and the baseball rolls and off the table. {The ball doesn't really bounce like it should. It hits the ground in 4 perfect tiny hops in the same spot and stops dead on the rug.}
This triggers Dogen to stop his attack.
He tells Sayid, "Go. Leave this place. Never come back."
{Dogen picks up the baseball from the floor not off the rug, and with his left black gloved hand -evil-}
Locke asks Claire if she's ready. They are standing just beyond the reflecting pool of the temple. {Apparently they were able to get that close without upsetting the people in the temple.}
Claire- "Why does it have to be me? You can send Sawyer or Jin...or you do it yourself."
If Locke could do it himself he wouldn't be asking Claire.
If Claire goes in there she wants to be sure he will do what he said he would do; She wants her son back.
Locke- "I always do what I say." {That's true.}
Apparently that's good enough for her because she starts to head out. Claire asks him if he's gonna hurt them.
Locke-"Only the ones who won't listen." And that's good enough for Claire too so she heads in.
Omar approaches sleeping Sayid on the couch and Sayid bolts awake with a defensive maneuver. {Just like Kate did when she pulled the gun on Jack in Lighthouse.} It's 2:30 in the morning. {Sayid is wearing a blue tank top. Did he just favor his left shoulder?}
Omar confesses he's in trouble with the man he borrowed money from to open the second store. {Didn't borrow it from a bank}
Omar paid the loan back but the man says Omar still owes interest every month, "For as long as I own my business."
Sayid offers to lend Omar money if that's what he needs. What Omar needs is for Sayid to convenience these people to leave him alone.
Sayid- "Convince them?"
Omar doesn't want Sayid to forget who he's talking to; he knows what Sayid did in the war. "You were an interrogator for the Republican Guard. I know what kind of man you are."
Sayid- "If you think I'm going to hurt someone just because you made a bad business decision..."
Omar claims it's not about him; his life savings are gone and they could lose their home. He knows Sayid cares about Nadia and plays off that angle, "If you care about us, about her...you will do this Sayid."
Sayid apologizes, "I'm sorry. I'm not that man anymore." Omar is annoyed.
{Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
Tank top wearing Sayid walks through the courtyard and picks up a back pack to prepare for his "leaving."
He explains to curious Miles, "I've been banished."
Miles-"Banished? For what?"
Sayid- "Apparently I'm evil. These people say I'm better off dead." He finds that surprising considering they were the ones who saved his life.
Miles corrects him saying they tried to save him but "You were dead, man. For two hours."
When Sayid sat up "they" were just as surprised as the rest of them. "So whatever brought you back...it wasn't them."
Just like that Claire barges into the courtyard with her hands held high in surrender mode. Lennon tells the armed shoe-less Others not to shoot her and asks her, "What are you doing here?"
Claire informs Dogen, "He wants to see you." {No one is freaking out that the crazy haired woman from the jungle is there. The one who they tortured.}
Dogen says something to Lennon the translator, but Claire just tells him to speak English. {So she knows he can speak English too. Then what's the fucking point of having a translator when everyone can hear you speak English?!}
Dogen- "Who wants to see me?"
Claire smirks, "You know who."
Dogen- "If he wants to see me...then tell him to come in."
Claire- "No...He wants you to go to him. He's waiting outside beyond the outer wall."
Dogen isn't a fool, knowing if he steps outside the temple he'll kill him.
Claire suggests he send someone he won't kill and she walks away, but Dogen has her stopped. In Japanese Dogen instructs Lennon to put the girl in the hole until this is resolved and then bring Shephard and Reyes to his room immediately. Lennon explains that will be difficult because they can't find them. Dogen yells in Japanese, "Look harder!"
Sayid and Miles watch as Claire is escorted away. Dogen says to Sayid, "Come with me."
Sayid thought he wanted him to leave. Dogen looks frustrated and tells Sayid that things have changed. So Sayid follows him.
In Dogen room, Dogen digs in the dirt of a large boxed planter to unearth a rectangle carved wooden box. {Box within a box.}
Dogen asks Sayid if he knows where his friends Shephard and Reyes went. Sayid does not know but asks what Claire is doing there and what was she talking about. Dogen dusts off the earth from the box by using a small paint brush.
Dogen- "She's a confused girl... under the influence of an angry man. {Sayid asks what man} For years he has been trapped... but now Jacobs' gone... he's free. This man will not stop until he has destroyed every living thing on this island. He is evil incarnate." Dogen doesn't want Sayid to speak to him; he wants him to kill him. "He will come to you as someone you know, someone who has died. As soon as you see him... plunge this {special dagger} deep into his chest. If you allow him to speak it is already too late."
Sayid- "Since I've been here I've been drowned, beaten and tortured all at your hands. Why would I ever do anything for you?"
Dogen- "You said there was still good in your soul- then prove it."
Uncle Sayid lovingly puts his niece and nephew on the yellow school bus. Nadia runs out of the house upset over something.
Sayid and Nadia enter through the double doors at the hospital. Dr. Jack walks right by them. {File in his hands} They are wheeling Omar into surgery. He suffered a punctured lung and internal bleeding. The EMTs think Omar was mugged.
Sayid is motivated and tells Nadia to stay with Omar. Upset Nadia realizes it wasn't a mugging and pleads with him, "Whatever you're thinking of doing...don't do it. I don't want you to, please...Just go home. Wait for the kids...make them feel safe, Sayid. Will you do that, Sayid?"
Sayid hugs her; rubbing her head.
{Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
Sayid walks through the jungle and Kate appears, "Hello, Sayid?" {Sayid knows Kate; did she die and come back?}
Sayid says hello. Kate asks him if he's leaving but he's not exactly sure.
Kate- "What'd I miss?"
Sayid tells her to ask Miles and he walks on.
Kate enters the courtyard of the temple. {I thought she wasn't going back to the temple.}
Miles sits alone playing solitaire and seems happily surprised to see that Sawyer sent her packing. Miles thought about going after him too but knew Sawyer would end up berating him until he turned around and came back. That's pretty much what happened with Kate. Miles welcomes her back to the circus and informs her the Australian chick came back. "The blond, the one who had the baby. She just strolled in here a couple of hours ago acting all weird, still hot though." {Is he blind? The chick needs a makeover! lol}
Kate looks confused and concerned and asks where Claire is.
Sayid walks through the jungle sporting his backpack and the Dogen issued "special dagger."
He stops to take a drink and cool down. Wind and growls rustle the trees around him. The sounds of the monster clicks are heard so he readies himself with his "special dagger." John Locke steps out of the trees and says, "Hello Sayid."
Sayid plunges the dagger into Locke's chest but we see the blade had no effect on him at all. Locke pulls the long blade out of his chest and asks, "Now why'd you go and do that?" {Gray shirt. No blood. I love the ash on the back of Locke's head!}
Locke offers the dagger back to Sayid, "Take it. I won't bite."
Sayid-" What are you?"
Locke feels Sayid seems to have some idea about that considering he stabbed Locke in the chest without even saying hello. "What did they tell you?"
Sayid- "They said you were evil incarnate."
Locke-"Feel sorry for you."
Sayid-"Why?"
Locke- "Dogen, the man who sent you out here... knew that you had no chance of killing me. And he believed that I would kill you if you tried. {he smiles} And this wasn't the first time that he tried to get someone else to do it for him, was it?"
{Is this Jacob, Locke or Sayid talking?}
Sayid knowing the answer to that question says "No."
Locke- "Then shame on you... for being talked into it so easily."
Sayid wonders what Locke is trying to talk him into as he hasn't killed him. Clearly there's something he wants.
Locke only wants him to deliver a message, that's all.
Sayid asks why he didn't have Claire deliver the message.
Locke feels it would mean a lot more coming from Sayid.
Locke- "Sayid, if you'll do this for me...{he is thinking and then says with sincerity} What if I told you that you could have anything you wanted? What if I said you can have anything in the entire world?"
Sensitive and hurting Sayid replies, "I would tell you that the only thing I ever wanted... died in my arms. And I'll never see it again."
Locke- "What if you could?"
He smiles as Sayid stares at him hopeful and hypnotized.
{Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
Sayid is repairing a broken carved vase/vessel with an eye dropper/glue. He shows Nadia the result of an unfortunate incident involving a Boomerang.
Nadia asks what time the kids went to bed and Sayid tells her about two hours ago.
Sayid lets her know the only information he shared with the kids was that "Daddy had an accident and that he's going to be fine."
Nadia shares he's still recovering from surgery but, "He's awake now." She goes on to say that the loan issue is Omar's responsibility, "He brought this on himself."
Nadia asks Sayid why he didn't want to be with her. Sayid carries her picture around and he cares about her but she wonders why he pushed her towards his brother. They hold hands.
Sayid- "For the last 12 years I've been trying to wash my hands of all the horrible things I've done. I can't be with you. Because I don't deserve you."
{Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
Sayid walks through the jungle.
He comes upon Dogen by the water; it is raining.
Dogen asks him what happened but Sayid walks up to the Others and announces "There's a man in the jungle... about a mile south of us, by the outer wall. He sent me back here to give you a message. He wants you to know that Jacob is dead. And because he's gone... none of you have to stay here any longer, you're free. The man that I met... is leaving the island forever. And those of you who want to go with him should leave the temple and join him. You have until sundown to decide."
Cindy- "What happens at sundown if we stay?"
Sayid-"You die." {Like the pregnant women?}
Dogen, who remains quiet, shows concern.
Kate is hurrying through the Temple hall when she is stopped by Lennon, asking when she got back. "Are Ford and Kwon with you?"
Kate-"Where's Claire?"
He wants answers first but Kate pushes him up against the wall demanding to know where Claire is.
Lennon gives in, "You should let go of me, okay?" He leads Kate to a deep hole/pit in the ground that is holding Claire; he gives her two minutes.
Claire is singing "Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket never let it fade away. Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket save it for a rainy day. Oh love may come and tap you on the shoulder one star...
Kate- "Claire. It's me."
She asks Claire if she's okay, and happy surprised Claire can't believe she's here. "Did they capture you too?"
Kate- "No. No. Why did they put you down here? What happened?"
{Kate is/was not captured}
Claire goes on about how the Others took and have Aaron. Kate explains to Claire that they don't have Aaron, "I took him....I took him off the island. You were gone and we couldn't find you so...I raised him. And he is the most beautiful amazing little boy. But I came back here to rescue you so that you could be with him. So that you guys could be together again." Pissed off Claire who switches to a smile tells her, "I'm not the one who needs to be rescued, Kate."
Lennon tells Kate time's up and drags her away. "You wanted to see her. So Let's go!"
From the bottom of her isolation hole Claire tells Kate, "He's coming and they can't stop him."
In the courtyard some Other's are leaving the temple while Lennon is trying to get people to hold on and calm down.
He tells Sayid he created a panic here.
Sayid was asked to deliver a message and he did, "What your people do now is up to them." {Free will.}
Lennon tries to talk Cindy into her staying by telling her they're all safe here, "As long as we stay in the temple he can't touch us."
Cindy- "You heard him. Jacob's dead. And if it isn't safe here anymore...We can't take that risk." She leaves with the kids in a Temple exodus.
Lennon tries to get them to listen; this is a bluff, "He can't come in!"
Miles asks Sayid what happened out there, "One minute you're banished the next you're telling everyone they're gonna die."
Sayid confirms that's the sum of it. They're not getting out of there yet. Sayid takes out the dagger and claims he has to return it.
{
Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
Sayid is approached by men in a black SUV. The bald man asks if he's going to pick up the kids. He wants Sayid to get in the car and when he doesn't the man speaks Iraqi, saying they'll go pick up the kids together.
Sayid is led to the back kitchen of a restaurant where he is met by a man in a suit who is proud of his egg making abilities.
{Sayid always ends up in a kitchen.}
The happy man offers to make him fired eggs, even poached eggs.
Martin Keamy already knows Sayid Jarrah. Keamy asks how Sayid's brother is doing; while he's eating his eggs. Keamy even mentions in a mock concern about him getting mugged in front of his own store; at least this way he's still around to take care of his own family. "You do wanna take care of his family, don't you?" Sayid nods yes.
Keamy, who can see that Sayid is a direct kind of guy, explains that Sayid's brother borrowed money from him and like anyone who borrows money or has a loan has to make payments. Sayid shares that his brother said he paid everything he owes but Keamy still wants more.
Keamy-"Sayid, that's a lie. Your brother does owe me and somebody is gonna pay me that money."
Sayid- "Did you put my brother in the hospital?"
Keamy eats and wonders that Sayid thinks it was him and claims it wasn't. He feels it's a dangerous world, after all Sayid knows that as he's from Iraq.
Sayid hits the thug behind him, uses him as a shield when the other thug fires the gun, killing his thug friend. Sayid has the gun and shoots the other thug and holds the gun on Keamy. Nervous Keamy tells Sayid "It's done. Your brother doesn't owe me anything, the debt's forgiven. Alright? Good? Kay? Just relax and forget about it."
Sayid- "I can't" and shoots Keamy in the chest. Just then there is banging coming from the freezer.
It's Jin tied up, his mouth covered with Duct tape/electrical tape. Sayid removed the tape and Jin speaks in Korean.
Sayid- "Who are you?"
Jin- "No English."
Dogen sits on the steps of the spring holding the baseball. Sayid enters and Dogen speaks, "You let him talk to you."
Sayid explains he stabbed him in the chest like you told me to. Then I let him talk to me.{drops the dagger on the ground} That's twice you've tried to have someone else kill me. You had the opportunity to do it yourself... why didn't you?"
Dogen- "I was a business man once, in Osak. I worked at a bank. I was good at my job. Very successful. And one Friday I was promoted. My associates took me out to celebrate. I had too much to drink. Every Friday I picked my son up from baseball, he was 12. The accident was very bad. I survived.... but my son...and then... in the hospital... a man came to me... a man I had never met. And he told me that he could save my sons life but I'll have to come here to this island... where I'd have a new job... and I could never see my boy again."
Compassionate Sayid asks, "Who was this man?"
Dogen- "His name was Jacob."
Sayid feels Jacob drives a hard bargain. Dogen wonders if the man outside offered Sayid a similar bargain; and he did.
Dogen- "It is sundown. Will you choose to stay or go?"
Sayid would like to stay and this surprises Dogen.
Sayid grabs Dogen and pulls him into the spring, holding him under the water. Dogen appears to die; finally releasing the baseball from his hand.
Lennon runs in asking Sayid what he did and pulls Dogen from the spring. Lennon asks Sayid if he realizes what he just did, "He was the only thing keeping it out! Idiot. You just let it in!"
Sayid picks up the dagger and slits Lennon's throat. Sayid knows what he did.
The smoke monster sounds are heard. Miles hears it. The sound of trees snapping, metal and machine sounds are getting louder. Kate grabs Miles tells him to run. The smoke monster clicks and cranks its way, grabbing and tossing people in its path. Kate runs to get Claire while Miles seeks shelter in a room.
With his back against the door something starts pushing at it. It's Ilana, Frank and Ben. Ilana asks where Shephard, Reyes and Ford are. Miles says they're gone; they're all gone and he's the only one that's left, he and Kate got separated. Miles doesn't know Ilana. Frank tells Miles they can play catch up later, if he wants to live he better move his ass. Ilana asks about Jarrah and Miles informs her he was headed to the pool room. Ben leaves to get him before Ilana could stop him.
Kate runs into the room with the deep hole/pit holding Claire. She kicks a rolled up ladder into the hole and tells Claire they have to get out of there now. Claire is very content where she is and shares with Kate she'll be much safer here. With the approaching smoke monster, Kate dives into the hole, holding on to the ladder and watches the monster barrel overhead, passing over the hole. The smoke seems to contain the screams of people.
As it passes over Claire smiles and Kate looks at the smoke with a sort of peaceful wonder. {Did she see something beautiful too?! Just like Locke did.}
Ben arrives at the spring to find floating Lennon {Dogen} and Sayid now sitting on the steps with blood dripping off the dagger. Ben tells Sayid he knows a way out of there, "There's still time."
Sayid smiles telling Ben, "Not for me."
Ben backs away seemingly afraid, and then runs.
As they run down the temple hallway Miles ask Sun where her husband is; he took off yesterday.
Excited and surprised Sun says, "What? Jin was here? He's alive?"
Miles- "The last I saw of him, yeah."
Ilana is looking over the hieroglyphs on the wall. The monster is nearby. Nervous Frank wonders if she has a plan or is she gonna keep staring at the wall. Ilana pushes the glyph with the circle and it opens a hidden doorway and she gets everybody inside. The smoke monster rushes right past their escape route.
Sayid, Kate and Claire walks in slow motion to the tune of Catch a Falling Star. The scene is very dream-like. Kate automatically picks up a rifle. They walk out to meet up with Locke and the residents who decided to join him.
Locke shares a "mission accomplished" look with Sayid and Claire, but gives a strange look to Kate, who seems puzzled to see Locke. Locke leads his flock.
The "Island" has its very own Willy Wonka "Veruca Salt" Eggdicator to determine if residents are a good egg or a bad egg. Besides that, Keamy scared the shit out of me with his whole Christopher Walken delivery of the "eggstravaganza"!
Are these glances of events “if” Oceanic didn't crash or just a peek down into the rabbit hole with Alice? But then we still need to ask if the "Island" exists and Oceanic didn't crash would Jacob still have visited and marked his replacements or would all that be moot?
Let's explore a couple of things...
Are there deals being made with the devil on one side? Does the possibility exist that one side is trying to guide with the hope of finally bidding good riddance to the past and also finding what is lost?
Jacob: He left the island and marked his potential replacements {Including Locke}. He went out of his way to recruit these people, and for Dogen in his weakest moment, promised him something but he had to sacrifice his "freedom" and go to the “Island”. Was that so he could protect Jacob on the "Island"?
Locke: Claims to be "freeing" people and their being bound to Jacob. At this point this seems to be his purpose. I love that Locke is invulnerable. But if he is invulnerable Jacob must be too. How else would they have been able to exist all these years. lol And shouldn't Locke be aware that Jacob isn't really "dead." He must know he really isn't dead and just using this temporary loss of Jacob to better his strategy.
Things to note...Questions to ask...
* Boomerang. Loop. Do over. Circle.
* Temple. Head. Mind. Brain. Wired.
* Machine. Being hooked up to a machine.Wires.
* Needles. Surgery. Hospital. Doctors.
* Accident. Incident.
* Games. Cards. Risk. Pool.
* Time. Late.
* Sayid with yellow roses. In The Long Con Sawyer refers to Sun as Tokyo Rose.
* Yellow. Blue.
* Kids.
* Two brothers.
* "This Place" a place to go to find yourself or to torture yourself?
* I believe drunk/druggie/broken Jack flew every Friday in his "Flashes" hoping to get back to the island.
* A few of the Castaways have been shown with children in their "Flashes" but Kate was only around Aaron in utero.
* Baseball. As much as I always come back to Christian and Jack with this reference, baseball was one of the "Island" references presented to young John Locke on the table.
* Deals. Business. Bargain. Loan. Debt.
* Bank.
* School. Learn. Tests. Challenges.
* War. Guard. Soldier.
* Sayid is to deliver a message. Jin delivered messages for Paik.
* According to Locke he tells Sayid Dogen "knew that you had no chance of killing me. And he believed that I would kill you if you tried". But Claire suggested sending someone out that "he" wouldn't kill and Dogen sent out Sayid. So he knew Sayid wouldn't be killed.
* I feel like when Sayid asks Locke "What are you?" he is really questioning himself.
* I sometimes feel like "Jacob" and Locke are the same being and at time switch places. I know that sounds confusing and weird, but...
* "Someone you know, someone who has died." Well, Sayid was dead for 2 hours.
* If Sayid is evil then why would Dogen ask if he will choose to stay or go. Wouldn't he want him gone no matter what?
* Killed Dogen in the "Spring". Will he come back to life as well?
* Where is Sawyer going to fit in all of this? How is his role going to play out? Maybe the "Island" needs a sheriff.
* Eggs.
* Catch a Falling Star was sung by Christian. A lullaby/to sooth a baby. The end scene with this was very dream-like. Not only dream-like but a bit nut house/sanitarium-like, delusional/hallucination.
* Sayid- "I would tell you that the only thing I ever wanted died in my arms. And I'll never see it again."Sayid does not say it's a person at all, only says "thing/it". If it is a person Shannon and Nadia died in Sayid's arms.
* Why is there is no mention about having to contain any electromagnetism at all, or any references to those issues anymore? Are they no longer important? Were they ever important?
* Wouldn't it be kinda cool if we discover when all this is over that the real names of the Castaways' are Jacob, David, Omar, etc..
* This episode connects to One of Them from season 2.
* Is someone finally being "awakened"?
* Is this Locke's way of bringing the family back together?
Vocabulary and Research...
* The Brain is located in the head, protected by the skull and close to the primary sensory apparatus of vision, hearing, balance, taste and smell.It controls sleep, actions, motor skills, sensory, neurotransmitter system, language,cognition/thought and so much more.
The electrical activity of the brain can be described with spikes and waves.
* In medicine, sundowning, aka sundown syndrome, occurs in patients with certain forms of dementia and psychosis.
* Boomerang: a curved piece of wood used as a weapon and for sport. They come in many shapes and sizes depending on their geographic or tribal origins and intended function. Most recognizable type is the returning boomerang, which is a throwing stick that travels in an elliptical path and returns to its point of origin when thrown correctly. Returning boomerangs were also used as decoy birds of prey, thrown above long grass in order to frighten game birds into flight and into waiting nets.
-Boomerang (programming language), for bidirectional transformations of text.
* Solitaire, aka Patience, often refers to single-player card game involving a layout of cards with a goal of sorting them. It is possible to play the same games competitively (often a head to head race) . The term solitaire is also used for single-player games of concentration and skill using a set layout of tiles, pegs or stones rather than cards.
The game typically involve dealing cards from a shuffled deck into a prescribed arrangement on a tabletop, from which the player attempts to reorder the deck by suit and rank through a series of moves transferring cards from one place to another under prescribed restrictions.
Variations of Solitaire are: Above-Below, Apollo, Beehive, Black Hole, Brigade, Caesar, Casket, Clock Patience/Clock Solitaire, Chessboard, Concentration, Courtyard, Compass, Falling Star, Fly, Following, Fortress, Gate, Golf, Grandfather, Great wheel, Knaves, Labyrinth, Memory, Mirror, Parallels, Peek, Wish, Zodiac.
I hope we are finally getting to the core of Sun and Jin's role in the whole truth regarding the "Island".
The moral of this episode is balance. As I've touched on in the past we all are made of good and bad, yes, even us good guys. Every day we are faced with simple and hard choices and decisions that our "scale" plays a part in. The battle for balance lives within all of us.
This brings me back to times when we've seen Ben visit Widmore and he is literally half in the dark and the light. Locke uses the same imagery.
There's no denying the "Island" is on the cusp of the war for balance. I wonder which side will win.
This episode was filled with action and it was dark. I also feel this was a set up episode for the information yet to come.
Balance: Every man has a scale, and here with the off "Island" events Sayid was being tempted by both sides of the scale. But I believe this is also reflected in the on "Island" events too. Sayid is a torturer or better yet a soldier. His brother Omar made it clear he was relieved Sayid showed up because he needed his skills to help battle an opponent but Nadia didn't want him to act upon the side to which she knew he would lean toward. On the "Island" Sayid skills seem to be needed by both sides. Can Sayid the sensitive soldier ever find true balance?
Light, dark and balance = Two halves of a whole.
Love to all who are "LOST"™
Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right! The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either! You all know I hate spoilers! And I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me off my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode, we all know what they are. Understood? Good! Let the fun begin! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance! It will get very exciting as we progress into the story.

The Hunting Party.
Let's talk about LOST! The Hunting Party.
(Click the pics!)

Christian and Jack are analyzing/diagnosing an MRI.
Christian is whispering his findings to Jack. {About where it’s rooting.}
Mr. Busoni says in Italian, "You don't need to talk in whispers" as Jack and Christian talk about his case.
He has a spinal tumor and knows he doesn’t have a chance.

Christian tells Mr. Busoni via Gabriella translating, that he is not a candidate for surgery. Christian, who is doing all the talking at this point, won't even try. He feels Mr. Busoni isn’t looking for a surgical procedure; he’s looking for a miracle.
Mr. Busoni says he "didn't come all this way for you sir, I came for him", speaking of Jack.
Gabriella, his daughter, had consulted many medical journals before going there to see Jack. She knows he is the one who fixed a woman with a crushed spinal column and now she walks; a miracle. That was a very different case, under very different circumstances.
Gabriella asks Jack to try.
Jack looks over the MRI very intensely. And then as if he found a way through the maze he turns to Gabriella to say although he agrees with Christian’s assessment of the risks he will try. Jack will have to admit her father in the next couple of weeks and run some tests. Then we get another beautiful close up of the MRI. {Jack's determination and excitement in his eyes when looking at the MRI, He's done this kind/type of surgery before…Ben.} The family is happy, Christian, not so much.
{Flash Whoosh}
At the hatch a noise jolts Jack awake. He was on the bottom bunk. Jack calls out for Locke who isn’t in the computer room. Jack finds John knocked out in the armory. Michael has a gun, he's going after Waaaaaalt and no one is going to stop him. “That is my right. That is a fathers right!”
Michael demands Jack stay in there with unconscious Locke and he {looks back a few times} threatens to "shoot your damn computer".
He is getting worked up and he tells Jack, "That thing is not what you think it is anyway. You don't understand, man. You don't have any idea!" {Oh really! What is it?!}
Jack offers to do this together.
Michael says no and that he has to do it now, “I have to do it alone."
Michael closes the door on them. {Note Jack wearing the key around his neck.}
Locke wakes up in the armory. Jack does a quick exam of Locke's eyes/head, asking if Locke feels sick or nauseated. {When Jack tests Locke "eyes" Locke doesn't follow his finger.} Jack informs him Michael knocked him out. Locke says he’s OK.
Jack looks for a way out and asks Locke for a boost up; but they can't get out from the overhead air vent.
Locke-"It's no use. I bolted it shut from the inside…No point changing the combination if you can get in through the air vent.”
Jack-(sarcastically) "That's really good thinking John." {Locke gives him a weird look like, do you really think it was a good idea? Or was he not even looking at Jack but at something else?}
Locke let Michael in because he wanted a gun for shooting practice. Locke is concerned about the button. Jack claims Locke was knocked out for about 20 minutes. {Did Jack time it while he was still sleeping?}
Locke and John are on shift for the next four hours; there’s nobody going down there. {On shift together!}
Jack-"Better hope Sawyer shows up to get his band aid changed.”
Sawyer is sleeping in his airplane seat on the beach. Kate tosses a banana on him to wake him up.
Kate-“Morning.”
She jokes she couldn’t find any rocks to throw at him. Sawyer tells Freckles there’s a nicer way to wake a man up. Kate lets him know it’s time to get his bandages changed. She can’t do it because she isn’t Sawyer’s nurse and Jack’s got the bandages. {Well, whose nurse is she?} Kate gives him a hand up and they share a moment of closeness.
Kate and Sawyer enter the hatch.
Sawyer- “This place still creeps me out." {Libby said a similar line about Nathan.}
Kate -"You'll get used to it." {You'll get used to it!?!}
They realize no one is there. The locked in duo call out for them. The beeping starts on the countdown clock for the computer.
The guys behind the door yell, “In here! In the armory!” and “Michael locked us in here!” yet when Sawyer asks what he said Kate says “I got it” as if someone mentioned the button, and automatically heads in to reset the computer.
Sawyer hopes Doc has the combo. Locke is the one who calls out the combination "Right two times to 25- Left two times to 29- Right once to 40. "
Kate resets the timer.
Sawyer opens the door, “Howdy, boys.”
Jack has a gun; they’re going after him. {Sing the following words to the Monty Python tune of Spam! Guns, Guns, Guns, Guns. Lol!}
Locke reluctantly takes the handgun from Jack. Sawyer is troubled by Michael going after Walt so he grabs a gun and is going with them.
Jack’s concerned because Sawyer’s still on antibiotics. Sawyer feels it’s a good thing he’s traveling with his doctor then.
{Flash Whoosh}
Mr. Busoni is sleeping in his hospital bed. Jack is looking in on him; checking the monitors and chart. Gabriella comes in with her coffee.
She lets Jack know her home is a hotel room, “I like it more here.”
Jack thinks she needs to find a better hotel. Gabriella wants to know how her father’s doing. Jack informs Gabriella that “His counts aren’t where I’d like them to be. "
Thorough Jack has been running tests on him for a month. Beautiful Gabriella confesses that she doesn't believe in miracles. Jack isn't too sure of them either. Gabriella bets his wife feels differently. She knows that the woman he fixed was his wife; she’s thorough too. “She must be a very special person to let you work until 4:30 in the morning.”
Jack looks at his watch, “I completely lost track.”
Before he rushes off Gabriella thanks him.
Jack enters his bedroom; removes his tie. Sarah isn’t sleeping.
Jack- "Sorry to wake you." {The Big Ben clock shows 5:15} Jack gives her an update about his patient. “About the same.”
He kind of apologizes for…{For what?}
Sarah feels, "That's the price of being a miracle worker."
Sarah gets up because she's going to the gym and then she has to grade some papers. She also tells him she was late so she "got a pregnancy test, not to worry it's negative."
Jack asks if she wants to talk about it but apparently there's nothing to talk about. Jack lies down. {They are distant from each other at this point.}
{Flash Whoosh}
In the jungle Locke is looking at a boot print track that may belong to Michael. Kate points out another one a little farther away. Locke thinks that sounds like a trail. Kate wonders if Jack has a gun for her. Jack {Key around neck} tells her she’s not going; she’s stay behind to take care of the button. Kate doesn’t want to stay behind; after all, she can track and carry a gun.
Jack forcefully tells her, “You’re not coming! You’re staying. Alright?”
Sawyer quietly notes the exchange with them.
On their trek to find Michael, Sawyer asks Jack “What did she do?”
Apparently she didn’t do anything.
Sawyer sarcastically feels Jack yelling at her “really makes a lot of sense.”
Jack-“Why don’t you go back and see if I hurt her feelings.”
Sawyer’s just sayin'…
Jack- "Yeah. I know… you love her."
Sawyer - "What’d you say?" surprised at that comment.
Locke asks Sawyer if any of this looks familiar from when he was coming back and also asks him “When you were coming across the island, what side was the ocean on?”
Sawyer, who remarks "How can I forget this place", determines a direction and points to it.

Locke-“You came from the East. Michael’s headed North.” {In season 3, Locke is given direction to head North too}
Evidently Michael is not going back to where he came from; he's heading somewhere else.
At the beach aggravated Kate is having a chat with Hurley about the Walt situation.
Sun wants Jin to wear a hat because the sun’s very strong today. He feels he doesn’t need one. He’s been paying attention to the chat between Kate and Hurley. Sun puts the hat on him anyway.
Jin tells Sun in Korean, “I think something’s wrong.”
Hurley walks over, compliments Jin on his cool hat and informs Sun and Jin that Michael took off, stole some guns and he “went all commando. Said he was going after Walt.”
This concerns Jin. Hurley has delivered the info and heads off for the hatch.
Jin is packing up his backpack, if he hurries he can catch up with them.
Sun doesn't want Jin to go and help find Michael and Walt. She shares her feelings about how worried she was about him when he was on the raft. She didn’t know if he was dead or alive, “I was out of my head.” She won’t go through that again. Jin is concerned for his friend, Michael.
Sun-“I am your wife.” {Wife trumps friend!} Jin puts his backpack down.
In the jungle Sawyer asks the Doc if they can slow down and take a break a minute; yet Locke is the one in the lead. Jack asks Locke if he thinks Michael's heading north and does he think he’s lost. Locke says that Michael's trail is as straight as the interstate, "The path of a man who knows where he's going."
Locke- "Where are you going, Jack?"
Jack- "What?"
Locke- "Let’s say we catch up with him, Michael, what are you going to do?"
Jack- "I'm going to bring him back"
Locke- "What if he doesn't come back?"
Jack- "I'll talk him into coming back"
Locke explains that this is the second time he's gone after Walt; he suggests that Jack let him go.
Jack asks -"You think we should just let him go, write him off?"
Locke-"Who are we, to tell anyone what they can or can't do?" {Locke is open to Michael's free will here; Jack wants him back. Why does Jack feel the need to bring him back? Or not let him go?}
{Flash Whoosh}
Jack has paperwork for Gabriella to sign. Jack explains to her that it's not too late to go back; the tumor’s aggressive, “but your father can lead a normal life for at least another year.”
Gabrielle- "Go back? Go back where? Home? Have you changed your mind Jack?”
Jack has not changed his mind. Gabrielle signs the paper. She tells Jack that even if you don't succeed, you’re giving us a chance. She leaves as Christian walks in to tell Jack ITR reports need to be signed by Jack, as chief resident. Jack senses Christian has something on his mind.
Christian-"Careful. There's a line, son. You know it's there. And pretending it's not...that would be a mistake."
Jack- "I guess you would know." {Yes Jack, Christian has crossed many lines}
Christian feels that may be okay for some people, but not for Jack.
{Flash Whoosh}
In the jungle Locke, Sawyer and Jack actually have to climb up a vine rope to get to the top of a huge hill. Sawyer asks Locke if he's sure Mike went this way.
Locke-"Why do you ask?"
Sawyer tells Mr. Clean that he'd probably would have gone around Mount Vesuvius.
At the top Locke nonchalantly asks Sawyer, "Why'd you pick that name?"
Sawyer-"Ain’t it obvious? All you need's an earring and a mop!"
Locke- "NO. Your name. Why did you pick Sawyer?'
Sawyer- "What do you man ‘pick’?"
Locke- "After the census, Hurley gave me the flight manifest... your name is James, right? James Ford."
Sawyer-"What's it to you?"
Locke-"Just an interesting name to choose, is all. Who'd you get it from?"
Sawyer-"Who says I got it from anybody?"
Seven shots ring out and Jack calls out for Michael and takes off running. Locke calls out after him.
{Important! That whole conversation between Sawyer and Locke takes place right in front of Jack, and not even once does he interject into that conversation with surprise that Sawyer's name isn't Sawyer or anything! It's almost like he is absent.}

The three men go running through the jungle until Locke happens to see a tree has a "score" mark on it.
Jack feels "He's close."
Jack confirms with Sawyer that "These people are two day across the Island."
Sawyer-"Yeah, and they took Cindy less than a mile from our camp."
Locke points out three shell casings. {One for each of you!}
Blood hound Locke sniffs the casing and declares its Michael's.
Sawyer wonders if the boys are deaf, "I heard at least seven shots. {asks Locke}You heard it, Daniel Boone, what's your count?"
Locke-"Yeah, seven sounds about right."
It's getting dark and Sawyer wants to know which way Mike went. Locke checks out the ground and trail.
Jack asks Sawyer if he's out there for Michael or...is this payback for gettin shot."
Sawyer-"Why are you out here, Doc? You got your reasons and I got mine."
{Flash Whoosh}
Frustrated Jack bangs on the lockers! Christian tries to calm him down with reason, "He was a sick old man on a table for seven and half hours. His heart gave out. It's nobody's fault."

Jack has to go tell "her" but Christian already did. "Lest you forget, I am still chief of Surgery."
Jack is annoyed and wonders where she is.
Christian-"Maybe you should go home."
Pissed Jack-"Where is she?"
Christian-"She's gone. Jack, go home."
Gabriella catches up with Jack as he's about to get in his car to leave for the night. Jack seems relived to see her. Gabriella thanks him for "trying".
She cries, Jack hugs her and them she kisses him. {Kate kisses Jack; he isn't much of a kiss initiator! LOL} Jack backs off!
{Flash Whoosh}
It's night for the three men out in the jungle. Jack lights a few torches.
Sawyer asks Locke, "What do you mean you lost it?"
Locke-"He's a man, not a boar. The sign's more subtle. I need light to follow ."
So Jack presents him with light!
Locke does seem to have a different attitude and suggests they head back as he's lost the trail. Jack feels you don't just lose a trail; Locke just doesn't want to find him.
Locke-"Yeah, that's right, Jack. I've been running in the jungle toward the sound of gunfire because I don't care about Michael." He starts to walk away.
Jack-"Don't turn around on me, John."
Locke-"You're not going to get him to come back and you know it."
Jack-"You know what happens if we just turn around and go back? We're never going to see him again. And that's going to be on us... on you... and on me." {Why would that be?}
A voice replies; a man standing in the dark, just a shadow-"You're exactly right, Jack. But if I were you, I'd listen to Mr. Locke."
This is Mr. Friendly.
Armed Jack asks-"Who are you?"
Sawyer knows him as the son of a bitch who shot him on the raft. The three caballeros point their gun at the man in the shadow and he wants them to point the gun down. A shot is fired and it grazes Sawyer's ear.
Mr. Friendly-"It'd probably be best if we just keep our hands at our sides, gentlemen."
Jack asks where Michael is.
Mr Friendly-"Don't worry about Michael. He's not going to find us."
Jack-"What do you want?"
Mr. Friendly suggests John build them a fire because it's time they all had a talk. {Hmmm. He's knows John.}
Down in the hatch Hurley and Charlie are going through some record albums. They come across an album by Geronimo Jackson. Shocking as it may be, Charlie, who considers himself an expert on all things musical, never heard of them.
Hurley gives him different to play, "Let's give her a rip."
Charlie puts the needle on the record.
Hurley wonders what the story is with that Libby chick. Hurley finds her kinda cute in a "I've been terrorized by the Others for 40 days" kind of way. He thinks he has a chance with her as it's the classic desert island scenario, "If I ever had a shot, this is it."
Charlie is really only thinking about Claire and wonders, "You think Claire's missed me yet?"
Hurley remarks that it's only been a day.

Sayid walks in on the boys and listens for a second and says, "This music is quite depressing."
Hurley-"We can change it, dude! Have you ever heard of Geronimo Jackson?"
Sayid has not, he wonders where Jack and Locke are. The boys inform Sayid that everyone's gone after Michael who ran after Waaaaaaalt.
Sayid-"Who's everyone?"
In the dark jungle the Lostie's hang out by the fire with Mr. Friendly. {The following is very important so bear with me.}
Mr. Friendly-"Just sit down, Jack. Nobody's going to hurt you. I come in peace."
Locke-"How do you know our names?"
Friendly smirks. {So now we know that these people know who they are.}
Jack-"You took Walt."
Mr. Friendly-"Walt's fine. He's a very special boy."
Jack-"Look, you said you wanted to talk...Talk."
Mr. Friendly-"Let me ask you something. How long you been here on the island?"
Jack-"50 days."
Mr Friendly-"Oh, 50 days. That's what, almost two whole months, huh? Tell me, you go over a man's house for the first time, do you take off your shoes? Do you put your feet up on his coffee table? Do you walk in the kitchen, eat food that doesn't belong to you? {He looks at Locke.} Open the door to rooms you got no business opening? You know, somebody a whole lot smarter than anybody here once said, 'Since the dawn of our species man's been blessed with curiosity.' You know the other one about curiosity don't you, Jack? This is not your island. This is our island. And the only reason you're living on it is because we let you live on it.
Jack smiles-"I don't believe you.
Mr Friendly-"You don't believe what?"
Jack-"I think you've got one guy up there with a gun. I think there's more of us than there are of you. I think if you had any real strength, you wouldn't have had to send a spy. Ethan." {Exactly! Jack doesn't realize who Ethan really was.}
Mr Friendly-"That's an interesting theory. Light 'em up!"
Torches are lit all around them.
Mr Friendly-"We've got a misunderstanding, Jack, your people, my people. So listen carefully. Right here, there's a line. You cross that line, we go from misunderstanding to something else. Now, give me your weapons, turn around, go home.
Jack-"No."
Locke-"Jack, maybe..."
Jack-"No!"
Mr Friendly-"I hoped it wouldn't come to this. {yells} Bring her out, Alex!"
Kate is brought out, hands tied, a bag over her head and mouth gagged. {black gag}
Mr Friendly-"She was following you. Like I said... curiosity."
He pulls the bag off her head. Jack is pissed and Sawyer makes and aggressive move toward Mr. Friendly but he in turn puts s gun against Kate's neck/throat.
Mr Friendly-"Don't! Jack, the decision you gotta make right now is this...can you live with the fact that I shot this woman right in front of you when you could have saved her life by giving up and going home? Or are you going to give me your guns, turn around and walk away. It's your call, Jack."
Sawyer-"You touch a hair on her head, I'll..."
Mr Friendly-"Shut up! I'm going to count to 3. 1, 2..."
Jack-"Stop." and throws his weapons down. Mr. Friendly wants all of their weapons.
Sawyer warns Mr. Friendly, "You and me ain't done, Zeke."
Mr. Friendly gathers up the guns and shoves Kate at Sawyer and he holds her. The torches go out at the same time and Mr. Friendly backs away into the dark jungle.
Locke curiously looks around.

Sawyer unties Kate.
Kate tries to explain her being there to Jack but he doesn't want to hear it.
Jin sits alone watching, looking at the ocean. Sun comes over to talk. Jin mentions he couldn't sleep.
Sun-"Are they back?"
Jin-"Not yet."
He shares with "Honey" that he doesn't like being told what to do. Sun in turn shares with him that was her life for four years and she didn't like it either.
Jin-"Right." {Touche!}
He knows she didn't like it. He moves in closer to her as it seems they are "getting closer".
Locke, Sawyer, Jack and Kate make their way back to camp. Kate tries to explain to Jack that he told her not to go she just...{What? Doesn't like being told what to do?!}...made a mistake. Jack doesn't respond to her; she just wants him to talk to her for a second.
Kate-"I'm sorry."
Jack-"Yeah. I'm sorry too." and he walks away from her.
{Flash Whoosh}
Jack comes home to Sarah cleaning up dishes off the table. Sarah asked him how it went and Jack informs her, "He died."
Sarah-"I'm sorry."
Jack-"Yeah, me too."
Sarah's mom was over playing a bridge game; apparently is on a streak. Jack shares he didn't eat because it's late and walks over to help Sarah do the dirty dishes. Sarah feels he doesn't have to do that.
Jack-"It's therapeutic...cheaper than a shrink."
Sarah inquires how the daughter took it, "What's her name, Gabriella?"
Sarah is distant.
Jack-"She kissed me. Yeah, she...she kissed me and I kissed her back. {He starts tearing up. Who is he talking about here, Gabriella or Kate?} I, I don't know. I don't know how it happened. I made a mistake. I made a mistake and this is my fault. It's my fault that you and me... I haven't been here. {Jack wasn't there…Emotionally or Physically? Both? Hmmm?!} Sarah, I mean, we don't even talk anymore. I hate what's happening to us and I promise you that things are going to be different. I'm going to, I'm going to work less. I'm going to be here for you. Okay? I'm going to fix this. We're going to go back to the way things were. I'm going to fix this. I'm going to fix this.
Jack hugs Sarah but doesn't hug him back.
Crying Sarah is leaving him and Jack is shocked.
Sarah-"I was already leaving you. That's why my mother was here. She was helping me pack. I've been seeing someone... someone else. I have to... I can't stay."
Jack tries to talk.
Sarah-"You, you will always need something to fix. Goodbye."
Hurt Jack is left alone and crying.
{Flash Whoosh}
The "Michael Mission Team" arrives back at camp and although Kate tries to reach out to Jack he's not interested. {He's hurt}
Locke tells James he'll see him later.
Sawyer sees that Kate feels rejected by Jack and tells her, "Don't beat yourself up, Freckles. If he'd told me to stay behind, I'd have done the same damn thing."
Charlie sees Locke walk over to Claire and the baby; this bothers Charlie. {Why does he have such a problem with Locke and those two?}
Locke says to Aaron in a playful manor, " What's the matter? What's the matter with your little foot? Hi. Hi."
Claire-{to Aaron}-"Who's that?" The baby fusses
Locke-"Uh oh...you don't like old Uncle Johnny.
Vincent is bothering Ana Lucia who tries to get rid of the dog because she only has enough fruit/food for herself. {Dog has no collar} Jack comments about her finding a new friend.
Ana-"Progress. I hear you were out looking for Michael."
Jack confirms.
Ana-"He ran off looking for his kid again? {Jack nods} Not much you can do about that then."
Jack-"Is it true that you killed one of them?"
Ana-"One of who?"
Jack-"Them. Sayid tells me that you're a cop."
Ana-"I was a cop."
Jack-"Can I ask you something?"
An-"Shoot." {Brilliant choice of words.lol}
Jack-"How long do you think it would take to train an army?" {Who's going all commando now?}
The Hunting Party is a GREAT episode!
There is so much to take in with this episode.
First we have to deal with the MRI date. We have heard rumor that it was a possible production error and I could live with that if the rest of the clues from following episodes didn't show me that time line fits into situations that include the MRI date. You will see upcoming clues I present tell us that there is "life" for Jack off/after "that Island" or at least another go around of all experience/events on "Island" and off "Island" or "Flashes".
What does this all mean? It means that I may need a friggin straight jacket at some point, that's what it means! Do we ignore a time line that can work? Do we believe everything else we see except for that MRI date? Are we to figure out how all the puzzle pieces fit into this story but omit the MRI date? That everything else can work except for that one clue that actually gives us a date?!
Now, if I'm not correct and I just over thought things and made a clue fit in where it wasn't supposed to go, or I fell victim to the writers trickery, then I am wrong and I'll admit that. If I am correct, what could it mean? It could mean that we see more "flashes"- forward/backwards, out of order and other "go-arounds" than the writers and producers want us to realize.
Things to note...Questions to ask...
✈ Choices. Decisions.
✈ Time. Timer. Countdown. Dates.
✈ They are telling us to look at the MRI not once, but twice. The date on the MRI is 11/16/05. Prop error? I call fucking shenanigans! "Flash" of "life" after/off "that Island", different level, or another go-around?
✈ Locke was knocked out for about 20 minutes. OK let’s break it down: Jack heard the noise and it woke him up, he has dialogue with Michael, and that took how long? Jack didn't try to wake up Locke right away? Why did 20 minutes pass? Jack let him stay knocked out for that long? Did Jack feel Locke needed a nap?
✈ What does Michael know about the computer? What is it that he understands that Jack or Locke doesn't understand about "that thing"?
✈ Jack uses the word Shrink, as does Ana Lucia.
✈ Depressing. Hurt. Mental state.
✈ Remember. Forget. Amnesia.
✈ Eyes. Eye color.
✈ Tests. Exam. Grade.
✈ Game. {Bridge game} Bet. Chance. Beat. Score.
✈ Military. Army. Commando.
✈ Two sides.
✈ Computer. Button. Monitors. Rip. Record.
✈ Reset.Reboot.
✈ Sleep. Unconscious. Wake up
✈ Head. Hat. Headed. Head injury.
✈ Manifest.
✈ A straight line = The path of a man who knows where he’s going.
✈ Languages. Communication. Translate.
✈ Story. Written out. Scripted. Scenario.
✈ In Whatever the Case May Be, Sayid asks Shannon "Could you at least try?"
✈ MRI. Image. Negative.
✈ Gone doesn't mean "dead".
✈ What is real and what is not?
✈ Are the hints to "root" and "spine" steering us to "Chakras"?
✈ I feel like I want to say that Jack's "Flashes" concern "one" of the "Lostie's" actual health condition.
✈ These Others know everything the Castaway's have done, where they go, do, eat, etc.
✈ Apparently Jin and Sun aren't the only ones who don't like being told what to do- neither does Kate.
✈ This episode is an example of when I feel Jack and John are two halves of a whole and/or when one of them speaks to each other they're speaking to themselves. I know it sounds weird but it's a vibe I get. There are also times I feel like all the Lostie's are reflected aspects of only one person.
✈ Being told to go "Home". Where/what is "Home"?

Before I continue…I have paid very close attention to things in this story almost to a fault. I am guilty of over analyzing things, I do admit to that. But there are clues and situations that are so obvious that they stand out front and center.
The following time line is directly from one of my older notes. I always keep clues of time issues, time/events out of order, time on the "Island" etc., in the back of my mind.
I felt this episode is a look at "life" either after this "Island's" events or simply another go-around in the game. Besides that I more often than not feel like "Island" events and "Flashes" are blurred together. Call me crazy!
***TIME LINE***
This works only if I'm correct with the dates. We still don't know anything about "time" on the "Island" being different or anything like that. There is a possibility that "time" does run different on this “Island” and that would change things yet again. We do know Ben references the proper amount of days the Lostie’s have been on that “Island” in one of the episodes.
Okay, here we go...PLANE CRASH 9/22/04. The call to the boat appears to have been made about four months or so after the crash. The newspaper Jack has in the finale is dated 4/5/07. If they do go “home” after the call Jack makes to the freighter that would get them there early 2005. That would give Jack approximately two years to "fall apart". That would also include the Hunting Party episode and the desperate Jack we see in A Tale of Two Cities. OK, I know you want to say, but Karen, Christian is alive and he's still married to Sarah. I'll just say...yes.
Even though I'm noting "time" here I must ask with time issues running ramped through the layers of the story... is "time" even really relevant?
Next issue: Locke knows Sawyer’s name is really James Ford. When he mentions how he knows this Locke says he got the info off the manifest from Hurley. It’s amazing to me that out of all the people that supposedly were on that plane, including some that died, he knows which name belongs to Sawyer! WOW!
Locke knows Hurley's name is really Hugo; he calls him that all the time. Why now, after we're going to talk about real names, does he not refer to Hurley as Hugo when talking to Sawyer? Does he not want Sawyer to know Hurley's real name or want Sawyer to know that he knows it? How come Jack doesn't care either way? How much does Jack know about the "Island"?
Why are they on that "Island"? Surely it’s not a coincidence.
Then we have the hunt: Who is hunting who? Is Michael hunting Walt and only Walt? Is Jack hunting Michael and only Michael? Who the hell is Kate hunting? Are they hunting for or survival or strictly for sport?
But I must ask who the hunters are and who is the prey?
What is this episode really about? It's about looking for something…for someone...and to go home.
Love to all who are "LOST"™

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right. The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either. You all know I hate spoilers and I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me of f my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode, we all know what they are. Understood? Good. Let the fun begin! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance. It will get very exciting as we progress into the story.

Christian and Jack are analyzing/diagnosing an MRI.
Christian is whispering his findings to Jack. {About where it’s rooting.}

{Flash Whoosh}
He is getting worked up and he tells Jack, "That thing is not what you think it is anyway. You don't understand, man. You don't have any idea!" {Oh really! What is it?!}
Jack offers to do this together.
Michael says no and that he has to do it now, “I have to do it alone."
Michael closes the door on them. {Note Jack wearing the key around his neck.}
Jack-(sarcastically) "That's really good thinking John." {Locke gives him a weird look like, do you really think it was a good idea? Or was he not even looking at Jack but at something else?}
Locke let Michael in because he wanted a gun for shooting practice. Locke is concerned about the button. Jack claims Locke was knocked out for about 20 minutes. {Did Jack time it while he was still sleeping?}
Locke and John are on shift for the next four hours; there’s nobody going down there. {On shift together!}
Sawyer- “This place still creeps me out." {Libby said a similar line about Nathan.}
Kate -"You'll get used to it." {You'll get used to it!?!}
They realize no one is there.
Jack has a gun; they’re going after him. {Sing the following words to the Monty Python tune of Spam! Guns, Guns, Guns, Guns. Lol!}
{Flash Whoosh}
He kind of apologizes for…{For what?}
Sarah feels, "That's the price of being a miracle worker."
Sarah gets up because she's going to the gym and then she has to grade some papers. She also tells him she was late so she "got a pregnancy test, not to worry it's negative."
Jack asks if she wants to talk about it but apparently there's nothing to talk about. Jack lies down. {They are distant from each other at this point.}
{Flash Whoosh}
Locke-“You came from the East. Michael’s headed North.” {In season 3, Locke is given direction to head North too}
Evidently Michael is not going back to where he came from; he's heading somewhere else.
Locke-"Who are we, to tell anyone what they can or can't do?" {Locke is open to Michael's free will here; Jack wants him back. Why does Jack feel the need to bring him back? Or not let him go?}
{Flash Whoosh}
Jack- "I guess you would know." {Yes Jack, Christian has crossed many lines}
Christian feels that may be okay for some people, but not for Jack.
{Flash Whoosh}
{Important! That whole conversation between Sawyer and Locke takes place right in front of Jack, and not even once does he interject into that conversation with surprise that Sawyer's name isn't Sawyer or anything! It's almost like he is absent.}
The three men go running through the jungle until Locke happens to see a tree has a "score" mark on it.
Jack feels "He's close."
Jack confirms with Sawyer that "These people are two day across the Island."
Sawyer-"Yeah, and they took Cindy less than a mile from our camp."
Locke points out three shell casings. {One for each of you!}
Blood hound Locke sniffs the casing and declares its Michael's.
{Flash Whoosh}
{Flash Whoosh}
Jack-"You know what happens if we just turn around and go back? We're never going to see him again. And that's going to be on us... on you... and on me." {Why would that be?}
A voice replies; a man standing in the dark, just a shadow-"You're exactly right, Jack.
Mr. Friendly suggests John build them a fire because it's time they all had a talk. {Hmmm. He's knows John.}

In the dark jungle the Lostie's hang out by the fire with Mr. Friendly. {The following is very important so bear with me.}
Mr. Friendly-"Just sit down, Jack. Nobody's going to hurt you. I come in peace."
Locke-"How do you know our names?"
Friendly smirks. {So now we know that these people know who they are.}
Jack-"You took Walt."
Jack-"I think you've got one guy up there with a gun. I think there's more of us than there are of you. I think if you had any real strength, you wouldn't have had to send a spy. Ethan." {Exactly! Jack doesn't realize who Ethan really was.}
Mr Friendly-"That's an interesting theory.
Kate is brought out, hands tied, a bag over her head and mouth gagged. {black gag}
Jin-"Right." {Touche!}
{Flash Whoosh}
{Flash Whoosh}
The "Michael Mission Team" arrives back at camp and although Kate tries to reach out to Jack he's not interested. {He's hurt}
Locke tells James he'll see him later.
Sawyer sees that Kate feels rejected by Jack and tells her, "Don't beat yourself up, Freckles. If he'd told me to stay behind, I'd have done the same damn thing."
Charlie sees Locke walk over to Claire and the baby; this bothers Charlie. {Why does he have such a problem with Locke and those two?}
Locke says to Aaron in a playful manor, " What's the matter?
An-"Shoot." {Brilliant choice of words.lol}
Jack-"How long do you think it would take to train an army?" {Who's going all commando now?}
The Hunting Party is a GREAT episode!
