Another installment of "The Mysteries of the Universe"

Hi Losties,

Here's another installment of "The Mysteries of the Universe" with more insight to The Dharma Initiative. What is the Dharma Initiative up to?
Apparently we need to keep a list with additional questions we want answered. What do you think?

ENJOY!!!!

Narrator: "We now return to 'Mysteries Of The Universe, The DHARMA Initiative'...
Outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, 1978.  A University of Las Vegas college student purchases a jumpsuit for a costume party at a local thrift store.  He attends the party dressed as a janitor.  During the course of the evening he is photographed for the college newspaper.  Three weeks later a mysterious knock sounds at the door of his fraternity house.  Two men begin to ask a series of detailed questions to the student in regard to the origin of his costume.   The men eventually leave after learning all they can, leaving the befuddled youth in a cloud of unanswered questions of his own.  The only distinguishing feature of this garment is this logo, a curiously shaped octagon with the word 'DHARMA' in the middle. What was once an innocent Halloween costume is now the impetus for the much larger investigation at hand. What or who is The DHARMA Initiative?
Aliens. Flying saucers. Abductions.
Nevada has long been known for an area of considerable importance to other-worldly creatures.  Some claim that the area is a veritable hotbed of extra-terrestrial activity known as Area 51.  Could the proximity of this incident in relation to Area 51 be a link to an answer?  It is suspected that workers at the infamous military base are known to wear color-coded jumpsuits, much like the one found in the thrift store, that designate their rank and occupation.  Those that work there, or claim to work there, are said to vanish for long periods of time.   If the government or someone claiming to be from the government is concerned about a missing article of clothing, then why are they not concerned about a person gone missing?  In the following interview, we speak with someone who claims that his neighbor vanished after completing a job interview with a mysterious group that was looking to fill an open position."

The Man with Eyeglasses: "My neighbor Phil was looking for a job. He said he was on round five of an interview for this group out in Michigan. Five interviews is a lot of interviews, especially for a security guard position. Phil said they had him take all sort of weird head exams, ink blots ... just kind of random exams like that."

Female Interviewer: "So tell me when was the last time you saw Phil?"

The Man with Eyeglasses: "Huh, last time I saw Phil... uh, he said something about going back for the last interview, and then I never saw the guy again.  Someone came, sold his house, took his car. Even took his dog. His girlfriend didn't even know.  I called the police, they said they would investigate. It was a year ago, the guy's gone." {The film segment shows edits within it}

Narrator: "Cases like this are not unique. The United States is riddled with stories of people disappearing after participating in questionable job interviews.   There are four common traits of the job postings. This graphic watermark {DHARMA logo}.  The quantity of similar job openings. Strange tests.  And the large number of interviews.  And almost without fail, after accepting the position, the applicant disappears.  A large number of interviews for occupations such as physicist and engineer are standard.   But why would a job opening for a car mechanic require five interviews? Why does a janitor position involve psychological testing? Why do these people leave without explanation
Portland, Oregon. Our investigation of similar disappearances led us to this woman: a grade school teacher named Olivia. Her family and friends said she applied for a teaching position, interviewed heavily for the job and then left without a trace.  Her apartment was subleased for three years, with no explanation of her absence. Her parents were recently interviewed:

Father: "She just left one day. Disappeared. And I haven't heard from her since."

Female Interviewer: "Do you think she left for a job, or... ?"

Father: "Huh, a job?! She had a job. {Edit} I mean she's gone."

Narrator: "Note the graphic seal on the upper-right corner of this preliminary job application, supplied to us by Olivia's parents.   It matches the one on the jumpsuit and job postingSecret societies are known to use special identifying symbols to assist members in identification of official documents and property. Often used in these interviews is the Rorschach test. This test is used with the psychiatric community to assist in determining a person's mental state.  It is also often used on the criminally insane
Here is a list of questions we found for an interview.
Why should a veterinarian be profiled in the same manner as a psychotic killer?
Intense interviews. Psychological tests. Disappearances. Secrecy. If someone or some group is putting this much effort into interviews then exactly what type of organization is this? All the puzzle pieces are there, but the more we try to put them together the more pieces are added to the table. An ever expanding table, and the place setting is serving up... mystery."

We get a big clue to the criminally insane and the psychiatric community.  Do some residents of the "Island" come from prisons, jails and mental facilities?
We also get a big hint to numerous "interviews".
I am also sure to note when someone is referenced as "gone", not only here but on the "Island" as well. Pay attention to what that means.

Hi Losties,

Our lesson is always about keeping our eyes and ears open. So watch this!

Where are we going with this?

"ABC" jingle plays.

Narrator: "They look like us. They talk like us. They walk among us. Yet, they are not us.  Ever since the dawn of civilization, secret societies have existedWhat do they know that we don't? And why do they exist?  Some exist as a benign social group in a small town, but others span the breath of the entire planet, infiltrating ever corner of our society. An assembly that spreads in our ignorance, working silently to accomplish its unwritten mission. The scope of their power is unbeknownst to even the most intelligent minds of our time.
Are these groups here to protect us, allowing man to live under their silent watch? Or do they have evil intentions {Glitch} far beyond our darkest nightmares?  Mind control, secret weapons, conspiracy to overthrow the government, intelligence sharing with other worldly beings, and clandestine eavesdropping of our most intimate communicationsOrganizations like the Freemasons and the Skull and Bones existed in complete secrecy for many years. However we now know of their existence and we believe their mission to be purely humanitarian. But perhaps there is another organization. One that has yet to be classified.  One that exists only under the dark veil of secrecy. It appears to be a peaceful organization, but wary to show itself to the public. The recent manifestation of clues and evidence has prompted interest from truth seekers around the world.  You may have seen an octagonal seal or crest with the word "DHARMA" in the center. The word itself, an Indian spiritual term; this is their mark. Why do they exist and what are they here for? Any clandestine organization of significant stature cannot exist in complete secrecy foreverDocuments, stories, records; telling items that eventually float their way to the top of our collective consciousness. Theory and assumptions quickly inch closer from fiction to fact. It is perhaps by piecing these minuscule clues together one-by-one that we start to solve the puzzle.
Join us in this 'Mysteries of the Universe: The DHARMA Initiative'.

The small print on the bottom of the last card seems to read: "This program contains information based in part on theory and conjecture. The producers' purpose is to suggest some possible explanation, but not the only explanation, to the mystery we(?) examine.

Namaste.

Let's talk about LOST! Namaste.

Night on the Ajira flight that is in route to the “Island”.

Kate, Sun, Jack, Sayid {Sleeping Ilana}, Hurley, Caesar and Ben wait for the “event” that will "deliver" them to the "Island".
The co-pilot {Drinking coffee} asks Frank, “Wanna hear something crazy? Did you see the big guy, when we got on in L.A., sitting in 1st class, curly hair, guitar case?...He’s one of the Oceanic 6. The guy’s got nerves of steel, man. He survives a full on commercial airliner crash and now he’s back flying over the same South Pacific.”
Frank- “Maybe he doesn’t believe that lightening will strike twice in the same place.”
Turbulence shakes the drowsy passengers, getting their attention. Hurley, who is prepared with eye shades, looks up.
The co-pilot asks Frank if he’s all right.
Frank’s just fine. There's another big “shake”.
The co-pilot turns on fasten seatbelt/no smoking sign.
Jack looks a little excited.
Hurley suggests to Caesar, “You might wanna fasten your seatbelt”, and then he puts on his eye shades, holds on to the guitar case and relaxes his head back.
Concerned Frank says, “Oh no.”
The plane starts to shake, jump and makes noise.
In the cabin things are falling out of the overhead storage and passengers are getting tossed around. The co-pilot turns off “Auto Pilot” while Frank has the controls. A bright light is seen in the cabin. The plane seems to pitch and roll.

Now it's daylight and Frank says, "We’ve lost power!”
The system's/automated woman’s voice says- “Stall.”
The co-pilot affirms, “Restarting 1. Restarting 2. Altimeter reading 650.”
The plane is flying through clouds....
...The clouds clear to reveal the green mountains of the “Island.”
Frank pulls on the joystick and says, “Give me more power, I can pull us out of this!”
The co-pilot feels he’s gonna rip them apart.   Frank, holding on to the joystick  tells him to just do it! They see a convenient runway ahead and attempt a landing.   They have instrument failure, “We’re putting her down.”
The co-pilot of Ajira flight 3 1 6, “Mayday. Mayday.”
{You can hear …8 15 16…}
The nervous co-pilot feels Frank's coming in too steep.
Frank brings her in, “Reverse thrusters!”
They’re running out of runway.
Frank- “Hold on. Brace for impact.”
They’re sliding into home plate and hit the jungle greens.
Frank comes to; he’s bloody and his head hurts, right arm hurt, but he’s OK . The co-pilot isn’t so lucky; a tree speared him through the chest.   Frank exits the cockpit with a flashlight.
Caesar wakes up Ilana and in her haze she says to him, “Sarah/Jarrah.”
No, his name is Caesar. Ilana sees her prisoner is gone.
Frank stumbles into first class. Ilana is off balance too.
Sun calls out to Frank and asks, “What happened?” {Really?!}
Frank doesn’t know but he notices people are missing. “Where’s everyone else? Jack, Kate and Hurley. Where’d they go?” {Doesn’t wonder about Sayid.}
Ben announces from behind him, “They’re gone.”
Frank shines the light on Ben’s chest, even though there’s enough light in the cabin.
Frank-“Gone. Gone where?”
Ben-“How would I know.”

Thirty Years Earlier:
At the blue Dharma van  Jack, Hugo, guitar case, and Kate meet up with LaFleur on the day of their return. Jack smiles, seems happy to see the glasses wearing LaFleur.
Jack realizes LaFleur and Kate are seeing each other after a long absence.  Hugo drops the guitar case, walks over to La Fleur and says, “You’re alive.”
He's very happy and gives LaFleur a tight ape hug.
LaFleur is happy too, “Easy on the ribs there, Kong.”
Hugo actually missed the nicknames he used to be called by him.
LaFleur- “Missed you too, Hugo.”
Doc shakes Sawyer’s hand.
Kate and Sawyer hug, “It’s good to see you, Kate.”
Kate-“You too, James.”
LaFleur- “You’re really here. The son of a bitch actually did it! Locke said he was gonna bring you back. But...Where is he?”
Jack tells him John’s dead.
LaFleur is surprised, “Dead. How?
Jack- “It doesn’t matter. He’s gone.” {It doesn't matter?! Why?}
No time for grieving, Hugo asks, “So, what’s up with you guys in the ol Dharma jumpsuits?”
Jin didn’t tell the ol gang about it. Jin, in great English, “No. I was waiting for you.”
LaFleur reveals, “We’re in the Dharma Initiative.”
Jack- “They came back to the Island?
No, Jackass!
LaFleur-“No. We came back.And so did you. It’s 1977”
They are silent for a second, then…
Hugo-“Oh…What?”
Jack tries to wrap his mind around this reveal, “You’re telling me you’ve been here living here with the Dharma Initiative for the past three years.”
LaFleur- “That’s right. How longs it been for you since the chopper?”
Kate- “Three years.” {Same time elapsed.}
A voice is heard over Jin’s radio, “Hey Jin. This is Miles. Where are you? Over.”
Jin tells LaFleur if he doesn’t report in soon, they’ll send out a patrol. “What should we do with them?”
Hugo- “Dude. You’re English is awesome.”
LaFleur says they’ll bring them back into the barracks in Dharmaville. They can’t be wandering around the jungle with the Hostiles.
Kate-”The Hostiles?”
LaFleur-“The Others.”
Hugo asks about everyone else from the plane; they could still be out there.
Jin- “What do you mean everyone else?”
Jack reveals they didn’t come back alone. “Sayid was on the plane, Lapidus, and Sun.”
Jin jumps in the Dharma jeep and speeds off to see Radzinski. After all, if a plane landed on the Island, he would know.
LaFleur yells for Jin to hold up, “We gotta think about this!”
But Jin speeds off.
La Fleur tells them to stay put. “Don’t go nowhere. Don’t do nothing until I can figure out how the hell to explain where you came from.”
Kate asks him besides him and Jin, “Who else is still here?”

Juliet, in her blue Motor Pool jumpsuit, runs down the stairs to see Miles at the security station. She asks if he’s seen James. She looks in on the monitors. Miles hasn’t heard from him, “And he isn’t answering his walkie either.”
Juliet takes the cup of coffee off the desk and tells Miles about Jin calling James this morning and he just ran off without telling her what was going on.
Miles- “Well. Let's see what we’ve got.”
He bangs on a screen. {static} Now with a clearer picture, “There he is.”

LaFleur is rummaging through his closet gathering Dharma jumpsuits and extra clothes. Juliet comes in.
He asks her if she’s seen his baggy sweatshirt, the one with the bulldog on it. It’s in the laundry. She asks James what’s going on.
He tells her they’re back.
Who?
LaFleur-“Jack, Hurley, Kate.”
Juliet- “What?” {Open your friggin ears!}
LaFleur whispers, “They came back, Juliet.”
He tells her they are here now, at the North Point, “Waitin' for me to tell em what to do.”
She seems stunned, “How did they…?”
He’s not sure, they said they were on a plane. “I don’t understand it anymore than you do. But they’re here. And I gotta find a way to bring em in before somebody else finds em and they screw up everything we got here.”
Juliet tells him a sub is coming in this afternoon.

Jin pulls up at the Flame Station. Radzinski is building a model of the Swan Hatch. {Blue prints, diagrams.} Jin storms in.
Radzinski- “Hey. You understand the concept of knocking?”
Jin checks out black and white TV monitors, presses buttons.{Muppets, News, Alka seltzer commercial}
Radzinski scolds Jin when he grabs the computer printout. “Thought you learned English.”
“Hands off! No body handles any of the gear in this station except me! Understand?”
Jin needs to check the radar logs to see if a plane landed on the Island.
Radzinski- “If a plane landed, here? What? So you think if a plane landed on our Island I’d be over there just building my model. That I wouldn’t have called any one? That I wouldn’t have put out an alert?
Jin- “May be you missed it. Can you check with the other stations?
Annoyed Radzinski just told him...
Jin grabs him and throws him against the wall, “Just check with the other stations.”
Radzinski sits at the control board sends out a bulletin via microphone announcement.
“Attention all stations this is a system wide broadcast from Radzinski at the Flame. Checking in to see if anyone’s seen a airplane over the Island. No one else has seen a airplane. But if you have could you call in to me please? Over.”
He asks Kwon what he’s all hot and bothered about. “Why is this plane so damn important?”
Jin-“It just is.”

Sun opens her hand revealing Jin’s wedding ring. She is standing on the beach with the rest of the Ajira passengers. {Shot of the landed intact plane.}
Ilana notices Sun looking around and asks her if she lost someone.
Sun tells her no, she was traveling alone. Frank yells out a call to the passengers, “Can I get everybody’s attention?”
Frank has them listen up, “Here’s where we’re at. The radio’s dead. So I haven’t been able to call in our situation, but that’s all right. Soon as they figure out we’re not where we’re supposed to be they’ll come looking for us. So the best thing we could do right now is stick together. Stick together, hunker down and just wait till help gets here.”
Caesar-“Where is here? What is this place?”
Frank doesn’t know where here is because this Island isn’t in his charts. Really. Caesar announces to the people, “Because there are some buildings over there and animal cages. Down the beach you can see a big Island across the water. So maybe you should get some new charts.”
Ben sits quietly listening to Caesar’s announcement and then heads out.
Right now Frank is trying to keep everyone there safe. He wants them to gather firewood.
Sun follows Ben into the jungle.
Caesar’s fired up! He tells the people if Frank wants to wait, let him! He says they should search the buildings, maybe they have a radio or food, “Who wants to help me?”
Frank follows Sun following Ben.

Sun follows sling arm Ben through the jungle; She’s lost him.
Ben, standing in the trees asks, “Why are you following me?”
Sun wonders where he’s going.
Ben tells her back to their Island of course, “You wanna come?”

Juliet quietly walks over to sleeping non Dharma jumpsuit wearing Amy. {Blue bassinet} She’s sleeping in a hammock. Juliet inadvertently wakes Amy while gingerly lifting the clipboard with the sub manifest.  She didn’t mean to wake her.   Juliet doesn’t want Amy to be working today.
Juliet- “Full load?”
Almost.
Amy tells her two of the recruits dropped out in the 11th hour. “They didn’t want to take the sedative for the trip. Can you tell Pierre for me?”
Juliet picks up the infant. Amy reveals that she and Horace decided to name the baby Ethan. Juliet gives the baby to his mama. Amy asks when Juliet and Jim are “gonna have one of these?” {1 of these?!}
Juliet doesn’t know, “The times gotta be right.”
She smiles and leaves with the manifest.

Jack taps the face of his watch 3x {No sense of time now.} as they wait for LaFleur to return.
Hugo sits alone.
Kate asks Jack if the woman who told him how to come back mentioned it would be 30 years ago. Jack tells her no, “She left that part out.
Kate asks what their supposed to do now. Jack’s not sure yet.
Hurley announces, “Sawyer’s back!” {Indeed he is.}
Sawyer gives the three blind mice clothes, “All right. Listen. You’re all gonna be the second batch of recruits coming in off the sub pulling into port right about now so we ain't got much time.”
Sawyer notes the Doc’s suit isn’t exactly Island wear and gives him something to try instead. Jack questions how is saying they came in off the sub’s gonna work. Sawyer explains that everyone gets knocked out before the trip so no one meets each other until they process them. Jack says they need to find the rest of the people from the plane.
Sawyer- “If there was a plane, Jin will find it. So we got about 10 minutes to intake or you’re all gonna be camping in the jungle for a long time. There ain't another batch of recruits due in for six months.”
Jack asks Kate, “What do you think?”
Kate thinks they should listen to Sawyer. Hurley votes for not camping.
Sawyer removes his spectacles, “Trust me. Do what I say and you’ll be fine.”
Jacks nods “OK.”
Sawyer- “Let's move.”
They begin their change.

Jin watches the monitors {The Puppet, uh I mean Muppet show is on amongst other interesting shows.} Radzinsky just heard from the Looking Glass, they were the last to check in. They got nothing but an incoming sub. He suggests Jin go home and he’ll call him if something happens. Beeping starts. {Red light}
Radzinski hurries to the monitors, pushes Jin out of the way, “Move. Move. Outta my way.” Checking out incoming info, “Those bastards!”
Jin- “What do you see?
Radzinski- “Grid 3 2 5. The motion sensor alarm was tripped. We got a Hostile inside the perimeter.”
Jin grabs the rifle and runs out. {Water tower 4} Radzinski comes out with his rifle, looking around.
Running through the jungle Jin comes upon someone. “Stop right there!"
It’s Sayid.
They are happy to see each other. Sayid doesn’t know where Sun is. Radzinksi pops up behind Jin and Jin goes into security mode; acting as if Sayid is a Hostile. Jin makes Sayid get down on his knees, “Say another word and your dead.

In the passenger seat of the Dharma Van Hugo chats with Sawyer, “OK. So it’s 1977…And you guys are all members of the Dharma Initiative.”
Yep.
Hugo- “You do realize those dudes get wiped out, right?”
Sawyer gives him a look.
Hurley tells him he saw the pit where all the bodies got dumped. “Aren’t you gonna warn them? Aren’t ya gonna stop it from happening?”
Sawyer’s not there to play Nostradamus to these people, “Besides, Faraday’s got some interesting theories on what we can and can’t do here.”
Jack seems excited at the mention of Faraday, “He’s here?”
Sawyer-“Not anymore.”

Ride Captain Ride, Upon Your Mystery Ship" by the band Blues Image. By the way, the band was formed TAMPA. Music plays at the Dharmaville celebration for the arrival of the new recruits. They even have Dharma balloons! A big blue banner welcomes recruits.
Sawyer pulls up with his three new recruits. He welcomes them with leis of shells and flowers. He shares a smile with Kate. Sawyer quietly tells them to listen up, Juliet has it worked out so their names are on the list, “So when you get in there just watch the little meet and greet video, wait for em to call your name. When they do, smile, step up take your jumpsuits and work assignments.”
Sawyer’s got their work assignments covered. He tells them to remember to act a little doped up cause they “just woke up from the sub.”
Nervous Hugo’s concerned if they start asking them questions they can’t answer “like, who’s President in 1977.” {WTF? He doesn’t know this answer?!}
Sawyer-“It’s not a damn game show, Hugo. Besides I’m gonna be in there to get your backs. All right?”
All Right. “Let's move.”
They head in to the PROCESSING CENTER.
Miles pulls up in a Dharma van asks LaFleur, "Where you been? I’ve been trying to reach you on the walki?”
He sees familiar faces and quietly mumbles, ”What the hell are they doing here?”
They’re new inductees.
Sawyer tells Miles to stop staring, he’ll explain everything later, “Tell me what your damn problem is.”
Miles tells him it’s Jin, “There’s a 14J at the Flame.”
Sawyer talks on the walkie like it’s a phone. "
Jin. You there?”
Jin-“James we have a problem. We found a Hostile.”
He was wandering in the jungle. Radzinski puts Sayid in the food pantry. LaFleur asks what’s he’s doing in our territory, it’s a violation of the truce. Jin steps outside and quietly tells LaFleur it’s Sayid. Sawyer quietly, “Son of a bitch!...Was anyone else with him?”
Jin-“No. He was alone.”

Ben and Sun continue their trek. Ben’s moving very quickly and she’s trying to keep up.
Sun-“Wait!
Ben’s sorry, but waiting doesn’t interest him much right now. “There are three outriggers near here. I’m gonna take one. So you can come alone and help me row…” {He removes his sling. He is fine!}…”Or you can stay here.
Frankly it makes no difference to me.”
Sun- “Why are you leaving?”
Ben-“Why are you staying?”
She asks if Jin is on the main Island.
Ben-“Honestly, I don’t know. But that’s where I’d start looking.” {Honestly. Ha!} Frank still holding his flashlight calls out for Sun. Ben says hello to Frank. Frank asks Sun if she’s ok; he got worried when he could find her. {WTF? Lies! He’s been following her since the beach.} Sun’s fine, by the way.
Frank-“I saw him leaving. What are you doing out here?”
Sun reveals that Ben knows where there’s a boat and their going back to the main Island.
Frank-“You don’t think you can really trust this guy, do you?”
Ben looks deep in to her eyes. She says she has to trust him. Ben is pleased and moves on. {Watch Sun here. She seems proud of what she just pulled off.}
Ben “on a mission” seems strong. He uncovers an outrigger.
Sun’s ready.
Frank wants her to think about this, “This guy is dangerous.” He goes on to remind her the boat he “came here on was filled with commandos whose only mission was to get him.”
Ben-“And how’d that work out for everyone?”
No answer.
Frank just tells Sun not to do it. Sun asks Frank to come with them. Frank declines because he has a group of people he’s gotta look after.
Ben walks up to Frank, “That’s right Frank, a captain’s first responsibility is to his passengers. But I have people I have to take care of too. There’s a small dock about a half a mile due south across the water that leads directly to a town where I used to live. There are resources there. So if anyone can help you and the rest of the plane get out of here safely then…”
Sun knocks out Ben with an oar!
Frank-“I thought you trusted this guy.”
Sun-“I lied.”

A Dharma dude on a bike, the good Dr. {Swan logo} instructs the new Island residents to remain inside the confines of their new living quarters. The barracks are surrounded by high frequency sonar fence. Jack and Kate are watching the welcome orientation video in the processing room. Kate looks uncomfortable. The video goes on to say “You are now a member of the Dharma Initiative.”
Kate asks Jack how are they gonna do this. Phil calls out for “Jack Shephard.”
Jack takes a seat at the uniforms table.

Pierre Cheng, looking through papers, “Of course it isn’t here.”
Jacks file.
Annoyed Cheng- “How can they be any more disorganized on the other side {Of what? The glass?} Cheng apologizes and shakes Jack’s hand, “Namaste.”
Introduces himself and welcomes him to the Dharma Initiative. He asks Jack how his ride in was, and who was his shuttle driver {from the sub}.
Jack-“That was, uh, uh, ummm, it was LaFleur.”
Cheng mentions LaFleur is a good man and runs a very tight operation. Cheng also apologizes for all the disorganization. “The woman who was supposed to be processing you in had a baby last night, I get pulled out of my lab…”
He pulls out Jack’s card from the card file and gives him his job assignment/uniform. Cheng tells Jack according to his aptitude test he’ll be working in the shed. Janitorial work. This amuses Jack.
{For a second, it looks like Kate is going to walk out the door, but doesn’t}
Phil says hello to her. They haven’t called her name yet. He looks through his list of names for Kate Austen, and notices she’s not on the list or the sub manifest either.
Phil-"Who’s your recruiter?” {Uncomfortable Kate is keeping her on Jack} As Kate tried to “think”, Juliet comes in just in time with the new list for Phil.
Phil-“All righty then. She’s all yours.”
The ladies smile and Juliet apologizes for the mix up. “I’m Juliet.”
Kate introduces herself, they shake hands.
Juliet-“Hi Kate. Welcome to the Island.”

At the Flame, Jin waits for LaFluer’s arrival. Jin tells LaFleur that Sayid just came walking out of the jungle in handcuffs, alone and he didn’t say anything about the plane because he couldn’t talk to him. Radzinski thinks he’s a Hostile and he won’t leave Jin and Sayid alone. LaFleur tells Jin, “I got this.”
Inside LaFleur asks Radzinski, “Where is he?”
Radzinski locked him the storage room {food storage.} LaFleur wants the key.
Radzinski- “You need to know, LaFleur, he saw the model of the Swan. And he could’ve seen the survey of where we’re building it.”
Radzinski feels he’s a spy, “This whole thing is an act and we either play into it or we don’t. We can end this right now.”
Radzinski suggests- “We shoot him.”
LaFleur appreciates Quick Draws input but he wants to talk to him first, “Give me the damn keys.”
Jin brings Sayid out from the pantry.
Sayid’s surprised to see Sawyer. “My name’s LaFleur. I’m head of security. I want you to listen to real carefully to what I’ve got to say. And if you do that, you’ll be fine. Understand?”
Sayid nods yes.
LaFleur starts simple, “Identify yourself as a Hostile. The terms of the truce say you gotta identify yourself as a Hostile or we got the right to shoot you.”
Sayid understands where he’s going with this, “We do not refer to ourselves as Hostile but yes, I am one of them.”
Radzinski is thrilled. Good, they can proceed like a couple of gentlemen. LaFleur is taking him in to the barracks. LaFleur and Jin take Sayid. Radzinski wants to go with them, “This is a horrible mistake. I’m gonna talk directly to Horace about this.”
LaFleur-“Fine! Talk away.”

Two Islands in the moonlight:
Frank and Sun pull up to the dock. Frank wants Sun to remind him why the hell they’re doing this. Sun tells him that Ben said if her husband was on the Island, “The best place to start looking for him his here.
Frank-“Oh I see. That’s some advice you took before you whacked him in the head."
Sun, Frank and his flashlight head on their journey. The dock has lamp posts knocked over, things are rusted and old. They hear a noise. Trees rustle and snap; the clicking noises of the smoke monster. Sun isn’t really scared.
Frank-“Tell me you saw that.”
Sun-“Probably just an animal.”
They move on.
They come upon Dharmaville. It’s old, a mess and boarded up. You can hear the swinging Processing Center sign move in the breeze. Frank is sorry to say but he “Doesn’t think we’ll find your husband here. Maybe we autta head back.”
They hear whispers and a light goes on in one of the houses. The front door with Dharma sign on it opens. There stands Christian, “Hello.”
Frank- “Who the hell are you?”
My name’s Christian.”
Sun tells him she’s looking for her husband, “His name is Jin Kwon. Do you know where he is?”
Christian- “Follow me.”
The door opens, the light of the flashlight and Christian guide them in to the Processing Center. Sun- “What is this place?
Christian shines the light on photos hanging on the wall, “72. 76. 78. Ah, here we go. 77.”
He takes the class {recruits} picture off the wall and tells Sun her husband is with her friends.
Sun-“What are you talking about? What friends?”
He just smiles. The door creaks open and a smoky mist enters. Christian shows her the photo. {Hugo looks so sad}
Christian-“I’m sorry but you have a bit of a journey ahead of you.” {It looks like there is a person hiding in the corner}

(click to enlarge)
“Ok. Are you ready? Everybody say, Namaste.”   The photographer snaps the New Dharma Recruits class photo.
Hugo asks Kate, “Nam-a-what?
Dharma Lady tune plays in the background.
Phil tells them they "have the day off to get acquainted with their security protocol handbooks waiting in their new digs. Some of it may seem a little scary, but he assures them they “are perfectly safe here.”
Phil tells them to make themselves at home. They have hamburgers and punch. LaFleur radios Phil to tell him he’s coming in with a 14J.
Phil- “Roger that, Mr. La Fleur.”
Jack watches Phil and the situation. Phil gets the party crowd to “hold back. We have a minor security situation. They escort Sayid. Overzealous Radzinski shoves Sayid, “Move!”
Kate looks nervous.
Hugo- “I guess we found Sayid.”

Heading down stairs bathed in red-orange color, Sayid is led through the security monitor room, through double doors into a cell.
LaFleur tells Sayid he gets to hang out there until they can figure out what to do with him.
Phil asks-“What are we gonna do with him?”
LaFleur-“Bring the man some damn food. We’re not savages.”
LaFleur shuts the cell door, and gives Sayid the “eyes”, {Letting him know it will be OK/I got his back.}
Sayid doesn’t say a word.

Night:
Jack stops Phil outside the barracks and asks where he “James LaFleur lives.”
Phil points out his house but advises Jack not to call him James; he hates it. {Did Phil pick up on something here?}
Jack knocks on the door 4x and Juliet answers. Jack’s a bit stunned. They hug hello. He wanted to say hello to her earlier when he saw her helping Kate.
Juliet-“We’re not supposed to know each other.”
Jack-“I was looking for Sawyer. I guess I came to the wrong house.”
Nope, it's the right house.
Sawyer is reading a book, “Evening Doc.
Jack smiles; he seems a bit amazed at it all. Juliet gives them time to talk. Sawyer tells Jack to take a load off and offers him a beer but Jack declines the beer.
Sawyer-“What can I do for ya, Jack?”
Jack doesn’t know where to start, “How bout Sayid.”
Sawyer-“I had no choice. He was running around the jungle, got caught by my people. Seein' as how he can’t tell the truth about how he got here I had to improvise.”
Jack-“Improvise.”
Yep.
Sawyer tells him for now Sayid is safe, which is all that matters. Sawyer sips his beer.
Jack wonders, “So where do we go from here?
Sawyer’s working on it.
Jack-“Really. Cause it looked to me like you were reading a book.” {Silly Jack!}
Sawyer tells Jack he heard once how Winston Churchill read a book every night, even during the Blitz, “Said it made him think better. That’s how I like to run things. I think. I’m sure that doesn’t mean that much to you cause back when you were callin' the shots you pretty much just reacted. See, you didn’t think, Jack. And as I recall a lot of people ended up dead.”
Cocky Jack replies, “I got us off the Island.”
Sawyer-“But here you are, right back where you started. {Literally! Jack started over in the same starting position as the other time.} So I’m gonna go back to readin' my book, and I'm gonna think. Cause that’s how I saved your ass today and that’s how I’m gonna save Sayid’s tomorrow. All you gotta do is go home and get a good night's rest. Let me do what I do.”
Sawyer leads him to the door, opens it and Jack steps outside.
Sawyer-"Now ain’t that a relief?”
Jack-”Yeah.”
Pissed off in control Sawyer practically burns a whole into Jack with his eyes. He follows Jack out the door. Sawyer sees Kate {Half in her Dharma jumpsuit-half out of it} gives her a little wave. He feels for her. She gives a little wave back.

At the dark security station a young boy tells Phil he’d just gonna go in there “and deliver him a sandwich.”
The young boy in glasses enters the cell area and closes the door. He says hello to Sayid. {Sayid was laying down. Eyes closed} The kid holds the bag through the bars, “I brought you a sandwich.”
Cuffed Sayid takes the bag. The kid didn’t put mustard on it, “But if you’d like some, I could get some.”
Sayid-“This will be fine. Thank you.”
The kid asks, “Are you a Hostile?”
Sayid-“Do you think I am?”  {Does he?}
The kid-“What’s your name?” {The red light from camera blinks behind him}
Sayid-“Sayid. What’s yours?”
The kid-“I’m Ben.”
Sayid-“It’s nice to meet you Ben.”

* Lyrics- “Ride Captain Ride”
Seventy-three men sailed up from the San Francisco Bay
Rolled off of their ship, and here's what they had to say
We're callin' everyone to ride along to another shore
We can laugh our lives away and be free once more
But no one heard them callin', no one came at all
Cause they were too busy watchin' those old raindrops fall
As a storm was blowin' out on the peaceful sea
Seventy-three men sailed off to history
Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip
Ride captain ride upon your mystery ship
On your way to a world that others might have missed
Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip.

Metaphorically, in all this chaos we still seeing people on a journey of self discovery; finding yourself and finding and feeling unconditional love.  With this layer of the story {of which there are many} we still have hints to thinking, learning, growth, journey, moving forward, testing, etc.. And we also see people having to start back from where they started from.   Here we know Jack has had to go back to the same starting position at least twice.   Kind of like when you play a video game and you have to start a level all over again.

So, let's stick to the episode at hand. A little reminder of the teachings of human growth and enlightenment.
Aids to thinking:
1. Use of models, symbols, diagrams and pictures.
2. Use of abstraction to simplify the effort of thinking.
3. Use of metasyntactic variables to simplify the effort of naming.
4. Use of iteration and recursion to converge on a concept.
5. Limitation of attention to aid concentration and focus on a concept. Use of peace and quiet to aid concentration.
6. Goal setting and goal revision. Simply letting the concept percolate in the subconscious, and waiting for the concept to re-surface.
7. Talking with like-minded people. Resorting to communication with others.
8. Working backward from the goal.
9. Desire for learning.
Pitfalls: 1. Prejudice can lead to flawed thinking 2. Self-delusions: inability to confront relevant issues {roadblocks}.

Dharma or Concepts. Four Noble Truths. Noble Eightfold Path. Three marks of existence. Dependent Origination. Samsara. Nirvana. Skandha. Cosmology. Karma. Rebirth.

I still feel a major war game element here.  How is it tying into the other elements I note?  Are things done with computers, programming and drugs, while they are sleeping or unconscious, in an altered state?  It's possible things are affecting their brainwaves or consciousness.  Is what we are seeing strictly a game or is it a journey of growth and enlightenment experienced under the guise of a game or some other experiments or exercise?

A little flashback to share with you is the video that Sayid watches with Inman in “One of Them”.  On the top of the screen it says EYES ONLY-TOP SECRET, then it has property of DIA...Then, REEL 23108-42.

Just as I’ve suggested in the past...Always been part of Dharma and Dharma part of them...at least here on this "Island".
If “Time Travel” is happening, then it was always happening. And if what ever happened, happened, then this already happened.  The new recruits in the photo would mean they were there. But really...what the hell do I know?

Keep this in mind...Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid literally Enter 7 7.   Remember Locke is the one that enters the 7 7 command in the computer.

Love to all who are “LOST” ™

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right! The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either! You all know I hate spoilers! And I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me off my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode; we all know what they are. Understood? Let the fun begin! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance.

LaFleur.

Let's talk about LOST! LaFleur.

Sawyer turns his eyes away from the bright light coming up from the well. He’s still holding the rope that lowered John down into the well.
Miles tells Sawyer, “I think you can let go of that now.”
The rope is completely covered by earth.
Sawyer freaks out that John is down there and he wants to get John out.
Juliet- “James. Stop. We can’t help him. Wherever John went, he’s gone. And wherever we are is before that well was ever built.”
Miles-“Yeah. Way before.”
Jin in GREAT English asks Miles, “What make you?...”
They all see the backside of what appears to be an Egyptian statue looking out over the water. At the same time...

...John is calling out for James’ help from inside the well. John makes his way, limping to the “Stuckwheel.
He pulls it back.    Sawyer and the group start grabbing their heads, experiencing the bright light and hummm. FLASH...

The group is on the ground, having felt the effects of severe pain in their heads.
Juliet- “What the hell was that?”
This time the “bright light” experience was different, more like an earthquake.
Sawyer looks up to see the well has returned!  There are also other ruins around them.   He runs to jump into it to go after Locke but the well seems to have been closed up with rocks and earth.  They all discover their headaches are gone and their noses aren’t bleeding anymore.
Juliet thinks, “It’s over. I think John did it.”
Jin, in great English asks, “Now what?”
Sawyer- ”Now we wait for him to come back.”
For how long, you ask...
Bearded Sawyer-”As long as it takes.”

3 Years Later.

A Reel-to-Reel tape loaded up for play.  The song Candida plays. {The stars won’t come out, if they know that you’re around.}
Jerry/Dharma Security and Rosie dance to the tune. {Geronimo Jackson shirt/ red white and blue} They are in a security station with eight monitors.
Phil enters and asks the couple, “Are you kidding me? I’m gone 10 minutes and you’re having a hootenanny.”
Jerry tells him he should be thanking Rosie for dropping off some brownies. Phil tells Jerry she shouldn’t be there, “We’re on the clock, man.”
Jerry wants him to “Mellow out, man. What’s gonna happen… the polar bears are gonna figure a way out of their cages?”
Phil argues that’s not the point, if LaFleur finds out what he’s doing… Rosie sees something on a monitor.
Phil wonders, “Is that a hostile?”
Nope. It’s Horace. He’s at the pylons, drunk and playing with dynamite. He lights a stick and throws it beyond the pylons at a tree. Phil freaks and yells for Rosie to get out of there now!
Phil told Jerry “not to bring her here.”
The situation is bad. It’s three in the morning and they’ll have to wake up LaFleur. The guys reconsider that for a second, maybe they can handle it themselves, but…What if Horace blows himself up and LaFleur kills them for not waking him!
Phil- “We gotta go, NOW!”

They run through the dark to the Dharma Initiative village. Neither has the nerve to knock on the door to get LaFleur. Finally Phil knocks and the porch light goes on.   Phil apologizes for bothering Mr. LaFleur but they have a situation out at the pylons.  The door opens, they tell La Fleur that Horace has dynamite and he’s blowing up trees LaFleur, Head of Security is revealed to be Sawyer.

A horn honks; signaling Miles/Security he needs to hurry. Relax, he’s coming. He is also Dharma security.
Miles gets in the VW bus/van, says “Hi boss” to LaFleur {Wearing glasses.}
LaFleur-“Evening Enos. Got your zapper with ya?”
They’re gonna need it because “Our fearless leader is out blowing up trees.”    He’s doing that because he’s loaded.
Miles-“Since when does Horace drink?”
LaFleur tells him he doesn’t, “So we’re gonna keep this on the down low.”

A small fire burns, Miles and LaFleur come upon a sleeping/passed out Horace; still holding his bottle. Miles is instructed to put out that fire and pack up this dynamite, La Fleur will take him home. Miles wants to know why those chores can’t be the other way around.
La Fleur-“You wanna tell Amy where we found him?”
I guess not.
Miles helps him pick up Horace.

Three knocks on the door.  LaFleur carries Horace.   Pregnant Amy answers the door, “OMG. Is he OK?”
LaFleur-“You tell me.”
Amy tells him to put Horace on the couch. {Owl} She can smell his breath.
Amy- “Where’d you find him?”
She’s told, “by The Flame blowing up trees with dynamite.”
Apparently the reason for this behavior is because Horace and Amy had a doozy of a fight.
Amy-“Please, Jim. It’s personal.”
Jim- “Personal? You think this isn’t gonna get out? It’ll be on the coconut telegraph by breakfast.”
Amy admits the fight was about Paul. Amy just happens to go into labor.

3 Years Earlier.

Sawyer, Juliet, Jin and Miles come upon a distraught Dan, crying and mumblingI won’t tell her…don’t even tell her.”
Sawyer whispers to Juliet, “Where’s Red?”
Dan, still mumbling, “No. I won’t do it... I won’t...I won’ tell her.
Juliet asks him if he’s okay.
Dan, crying, tells her, “I’m not gonna do it. I’m not gonna tell her.
Dan looks like he’s somewhere else.  Juliet asks him where Charlotte is.
Dan-“She’s not here. Sh, She’s gone.”
He explains to Juliet she was dead, there was another Flash and then she was gone… ”her body just…disappeared. She moved on and we stayed.”
Sawyer questions Dan, “We stayed? We’re not traveling through time anymore?  You sayin its over?”
Dan replies to him as if he asked a ridiculous question, “Of course its over. Wherever we are now, Whenever we are now, We’re here for good.
Juliet kind nods her head.
Dan repeats again, “I won’t do it. I won’t. I’m, I’m not gonna…
Sawyer tells Juliet, “OK. Swell. Until Dan checks back in I say he head back to the beach. When Locke gets back with everybody that’s where they’ll be looking for us.”
Miles thinks the beach is a stupid idea, “What? You didn’t get enough flaming arrows shot at you? And your camp is gone. Why bother?”
Juliet smirks and tells Miles Sawyer’s right, they should go back to the beach, “We survived there before, we can do it again.”
Annoyed Miles remarks about “maybe” Sawyer wanting to go to the Orchid again after getting to the beach, then when that gets boring they can head back to the beach again, “It’s the only two plans you people have.”
Sawyer tells him to “Zip it.” He’s heading back to the beach. If their stuff’s there great, if not they’ll build new stuff, “You don’t like the plan, Good luck.”
Miles asks Juliet, “Who put him in charge?

Miles plays with a stick. Jin gives an interesting look at Dan. Sawyer thanks Juliet for getting his back with the whole beach issue. She says he should thank her, it was a stupid idea. {WTF?!} Bur she feels any plan is better than no plan.
Beside if she hadn’t agreed with him they’d still be arguing about where to go next, “I just hope you figure out something better before we get there.”
Sawyer’s open to suggestions.  He doesn’t see the smile on her face.  All of a sudden two shots ring out!  Sawyer and Juliet aim their rifles. The very faintly they hear voices/cries. They see a woman crying, begging the two men not to hurt him, “No. Please. We didn’t know! We’re sorry we didn’t mean/need anything.”   They were just touring the park.   A man lies on the ground in a Dharma jumpsuit; its Paul.   It looks like one man picks up a gun from near Paul on the ground. They put a bag over her head.
Juliet asks Sawyer who he thinks they are.
Miles doesn’t care who they are; they don’t even know “when” they are.
Miles turns to Dan, who is sitting quiet and distant, “Hey, Dan, we don’t’ get involved, right? That’s what you said.”     {When did he say that?}
Dan, speaking normal, tells him it doesn’t matter what they do, whatever happened, happened.
Sawyer- “Thanks anyway, Plato.”
Sawyer’s going over there; he makes sure Juliet still has his back.
Sawyer goes in.
The bagged woman is begging for Paul to talk to her.   There is a picnic set up.
Juliet shoots the short haired guy. Sawyer shoots the long haired guy. {Note the colorful flowers around the immediate area.}
Juliet and Sawyer take the guns from the ground. Sawyer removes the bag from the woman’s head and tells her it’s all right. “It’s Okay. You’re safe. It’s over.”
She’s asks who he is. {Watch the three of them from when the bag gets pulled off.}

Amy cries over Paul’s body {She’s sitting very weird.}
Dan watches her.  Juliet touches {searches} the body of one of men shooters and comments that Amy’s “friend’s wearing a Dharma jumpsuit. That puts us in the 70’s, 80’s.”
Sawyer asks her if the guys with the bags, “Others?
Juliet- “Beats me.”
Sawyer- “What? Ya’ll don’t know each other?”
Juliet- “Before my time.”
Jin tosses Sawyer a walkie that from one of the shooters.  Juliet looks very annoyed and says they need to go. There’s static on the walkie.    Sawyer tells Sweetheart Amy they need to get moving now.
She asks, “Who are you people?”
Sawyer tells her their ship wrecked on the way to Tahiti, but that ain’t important right now. He’s concerned that whoever is on the other side of the walkie might have given them a call before they saved her.   {These "Hostiles" have walkies?!}
Amy tells him they have to bury the bodies.  They ain’t got time to bury nobody!   Amy insists they bury the bodies, “The truce...”   She is very upset and crying. She also wants to bring Paul’s body home.    Amy begs, so Jin offers to carry him.
Sawyer okay’s the “putting these guys in the ground and carry your friend back.”
But they better do it fast. Amy admits “he” wasn’t her friend, “he” was her husband. {How did they bury two bodies fast without shovels? I’m just asking!}

Amy leads the way to Dharma village.
Jin carries Paul
.
Sawyer tells the group when they get there there will be a lot of questions. He wants to do all the talking. {Just like Jack did with the Oceanic 6.}
Miles sarcastically questions if Sawyer can really convince them they were in a boat wreck.
Sawyer-“I’m a professional. I used to lie for a living.”  {Look how far he’s come.}
Juliet screams for Dan to “STOP!”
They arrive at the pylons.  Juliet tells Amy to turn it off.
Amy plays stupid, “Turn what off?”
Juliet- “Whatever it is. It looks like some sort of sonic fence or something.”
Concerned Amy- “Where did you say your ship was going?”
Sawyer’s not taking that crap from her, “Listen sister, we’re the ones who just saved your life and hid those bodies. So how bout you trust us and turn that damn thing off?
Amy enters a code on the keypad; she also takes something out from behind the keypad panel that lifts up. {Hiding place.}
Sawyer whispers to Juliet, “Sonic fence? Didn’t I say I’d do all the talking?”
Juliet- “One more step and Dan would have fried his brain.”
Sawyer-“His brain’s already fried.” {It sure is!!}
Amy tells them it’s off. Sawyer wants her to go through it first and she does. You can hear a high pitch buzz when she walks through. She’s fine.
Sawyer’s pleased, “...going forward, we should all do a better job of trusting...” The high pitch buzz of the fence takes them all down. They convulse on the ground.
The buzz only lasts a few seconds. Amy reveals she had earplugs in to protect her from the buzz.

3 Years Later.

Amy’s in labor; she screams in pain.
The doctor asks LaFleur if her husband knows she’s in labor. He’s unavailable. The doctor’s concerned because the baby’s breech, that means upside down. She needs a Caesarian. Sawyer doesn’t want to be told about it, instructs the Dr. to just do it. Unfortunately this Doctor is an internist not an obstetrician.
The Dr. informs La Fleur “Our women always deliver on the mainland. {Oh really?!} The sub was supposed to be here on Tuesday. The baby’s two weeks early.”
La Fleur asks the Dr. if he can deliver this baby or not. The doctor doesn’t know.

LaFleur heads down to the Dharma "motor pool” to retrieve Juliet. She is hard at work underneath a VW Van/Bus. Juliet, from below, asks LaFleur “What’s up?”
He whispers to her Amy is having her baby and she’s in trouble. LaFleur pulls her up so they can talk. He tells her the Doc said Amy needs a caesarian and he never “done one”.
LaFleur guesses Juliet has. Upset Juliet wants to stick with their agreement. After all, every time she tries to help a woman on “this” island give birth, it hasn’t worked. {Maybe she’s a better mechanic.”}
He suggests that maybe what ever made that happen hasn’t happened yet. She’s gotta try and help her, “You’re the only one that can.”
Angrily, Juliet concedes.

Juliet feels Amy’s belly, questions the Dr., “The baby’s breech?” {She can’t tell? Lol} She then asks, “Did you try an external cephalic version?"
No he didn’t; it’s probably too late. Juliet runs down a list of supplies she’s going to need. {No one asks how a mechanic knows these terms or knows how to deliver a baby?}
Dr.-“You’re gonna need? Where’s Horace?”
Sawyer speaks on Horace’s behalf; Juliet’s delivering this baby.
The Dr. doesn’t think it’s a good idea, but Amy wants her to do it. Sawyer gives Juliet a pep talk, telling her she’ll do great.
Juliet gets into Dr. mode, tells Amy to “Shhhh”, puts on her stethoscope for a listen.

Sawyer paces like a daddy in waiting outside the infirmary. A woman exits door 6.
Jin, in perfect English asks La Fleur if everything’s okay. He knows Amy’s in labor.
LaFleur fills him in on there being a problem. Jin/Security is concerned Juliet is in there. LaFleur pulled her out of retirement. {Literally}
He asks Jin, “Any luck?”
Jin tells him they finished grid 1 3 3 today, “No sign of our people. No one.”
Well, it’s on to 1 3 4 then.
Jin- ”How long do we look, James?”
James-“As long as it takes.”
Emotional Juliet comes out, dressed in white scrubs, announcing, “It’s a boy.”
Everyone’s okay!
James is happy and proud.

Sawyer wakes up on the couch in the game room.
{NOTE! We did not get any “3 years earlier” notice here!}
Horace asks, “How’s your head?
It hurts.
Sawyer-“Where are my people?”
Horace tells him they’re fine. Amy told him what happened in the jungle and he appreciates what he did. He also explains they have a certain defense protocol. “There are hostile indigenous people on this island and we don’t get along with them. So why don’t you tell me who the hell you are.”
Sawyer- “My name's James La Fleur.”
Horace can call him Jim. Horace asks Jim how he got to the island.
James- “If my friends are safe, why are you asking me all the questions?”
Horace says his friends said he needed to talk to him, “That you’re the boat captain.”
Jim says they got caught in a storm, “our ship wrecked. Must have hit the reef. Thankfully we washed up on shore.”
Jim takes a glass of milk. Horace asks him what kind of ship.
Jim-“A salvage vessel searching for a famous lost wreck. It’s an old slaver out of Portsmouth, England called the Black Rock. Ever heard of her?”
Horace can’t say that he has. “So, once you got washed up on shore, why were you then wandering around in the jungle.
Jim explains they were looking for some missing crew and stumbled upon his girl instead. Horace tells him if his crew shows up, “we’ll send them along with ya.”
Horace reveals there’s a submarine that leaves “this” island first thing in the morning. Jim and his friends are gonna get on it, it will drop them off in Tahiti. “You can find your way home from there.”
Jim- “Hold on a minute Chief. We just saved that woman’s life, doesn’t that earn us a week or two to find the rest of our people?”
Nope.
Horace tells Jim the only people who are allowed to stay on this compound are members of The Dharma Initiative. He doesn’t want Jim to take this the wrong way but “You are not Dharma material.”
Red haired Horace walks away.

Warm night; the residents of Dharma village go about their business.
Sitting around a table are Miles, Jin, Dan and Juliet.
Miles comments, “We’re screwed. He’s probably trying to explain time travel by now.”    Juliet feels Sawyer will be fine. Miles asks what she’s looking at. Juliet tells them she lived there for over three years, “That was my house over there.” {Glasses of milk on the table}
Miles- “You were in the Dharma Initiative?”
No. The Other's took over the barracks and wiped out most of the people living in them. “They brought me here on a sub a long time after that.”
Miles- Well. Welcome home.”
Jin asks Daniel, “No more Flash?”
Dan, sadly, “No. No more Flash. The record is spinning again. We’re just not on the song we want to be on.
A little red haired girl, “Where’s dad?” {Woman with her has a British accent} She waves.
Dan whispers, happily, “Charlotte.”

Horace tells the foursome somebody will be along shortly to show them to their rooms. In the meantime Mr. La Fleur will fill them in on the situation.
Sawyer tells Miles, LaFleur is Creole; he improvised. {lol! Improvised on the script.}
Sawyer tells him Horace believed his story but, they are getting punted. “The bastard’s putting us on the sub tomorrow and shipping us off to Tahiti.”
Miles doesn’t see that as bad news. A loud alarm sounds and floodlights go on. The residents scramble to get inside for safety.
Phil/Security tells them to get inside, “Move!”
He moves them to a house where Heather, with a gun, can keep an eye on them. They all look out windows to see the action. There is Richard with his torch. Juliet closes her eyes when she sees Richard.
Sawyer- “Uh oh!”

Richard stands outside waiting for Horace. They say hello’s using formal names.
Horace-“I wish you would have told me you were coming, I would have turned the fence off for you.”
Richard-“That fence may keep other things out, but not us. The only thing that does keep us out is our truce. Which you have now broken.”
Horace plays stupid and says he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Richard-“Where are my two men?”
From the window, Miles can see the men’s conversation getting heated. He thinks getting on the sub is starting to sound like a great idea. “What do you say? Sub. Anyone?”
Sawyer tells Bonsai to hold his horses. No one’s getting on a sub.
Horace storms in asks La Fleur “How well did you bury those bodies?”
Jim-“That depends on how hard he looks.”
Horace tells Phil to call The Arrow, tell them we’re at condition 1. “Take the heavy ordnance and make sure the fence is at maximum.”
Jim wants to talk to Horace’s buddy out there with the eyeliner.
Horace informs him they had a truce with these people.
Jim understands, “I’m the one who killed his men. And I’m the one who’s gonna go out there and tell them why I did it.”
Horace can’t let him do that. Well, Jim aint asking permission.
Juliet stops him at the door, “James. Are you sure you know what you’re doing?”
Not yet, but he’ll figure something out.

Richard sits waiting on the park bench.“Hello, Richard.”
Scruffy Richard asks if they know each other.
James- “I’m the guy that killed your men.”
He goes on to tell Richard those events. How one of the men took a shot at him, he defended himself. That’s so.
Richard-“You’re people know that you’re telling me this?”
James-“Aint my people, Hoss. So if you’ve got some kind of a truce with them, it aint been broken.”
Richard asks if he’s not a member of the Dharma Initiative then, “what are you?”
Sawyer sits next to Richard, asks if he buried the hydrogen bomb with Jughead written on the side. “Did you bury it?”
Yep, Sawyer knows about it. He also knows that “20 years ago some bald fella limped into your camp and fed you some mumbo jumbo about being your leader. And then poof, he went and disappeared right in front of ya. Any of this ringing a bell?...That man’s name is John Locke.  And I’m waiting for him to come back.”
Richard looks as if he can’t believe what he’s hearing.
Sawyer- “So, do you still think I’m a member of the damn Dharma Initiative?
Richard-“No. I guess I don’t. But no matter who you are, two of my men are dead, and my people need some kind of justice. What are we gonna do about that?”

Paul, still in his Dharma jumpsuit, lies on the bed.   Amy watches over him. Horace comes in with LaFleur, asks how she’s doing.    She asks if Alpert’s gone.  Horace tells her no, he’s not gone.    He tells Amy they told Richard where the bodies were; they had to. It was the only way to maintain the truce. Jim worked it out with him, but he wants something from them in return. “He needs to take Paul’s body back with him.”
She cries.
Horace shares with her they’ve been friends a long time, this is completely her choice. “If you don’t wanna give him to them, then we will suffer the consequences.”
Amy- “They can take him. He would wanna keep us safe.”
She asks for a minute. She cries, and takes the Ankh on the dark cord from his neck and puts it to her lips. She walks by LaFleur; he says he’s sorry. James offers Horace help, but Horace got it.
Horace tells Jim the sub's leaving tomorrow, it returns in two weeks. Until then they can stay “and look for the rest of your crew.”
Jim thanks him.

Juliet sits on the dock where the sub is docked.
Sawyer- “Bought us 2 weeks.”    He tells her Horace said we could wait for the next sub, “With any luck, Locke will be back by then.”
Then what?
Juliet- "Locke said he was leaving to save us. The Flashes have stopped. They’re over. No more bloody noses. We’re already saved.” {huh?!} She tells him that sub behind him brought her there. She’s, “been trying to get off this island for more than 3 years, and now I’ve got my chance. I’m going to leave.”
He looks troubled, asks if she realizes it’s 1974. Whatever it is she thinks she’s going back to don’t exist yet. {WTF?}
Juliet- “It’s not a reason not to go.”
But what about him?!
James- “You’re really gonna leave me here with the Mad Scientist and Mr. 'I speak to dead people'? And Jin, who’s a hell of a nice guy, but not exactly the greatest conversationalist.”
He wants to know who’s gonna get his back. {Well, wasn’t that just fucking sweet?} He asks her for two weeks.
They both smile. All right, she’ll give him two weeks.

Three Years Later.

A Chess game is being played.
LaFleur picks a pretty flower; he even smells it!
There are flowers in a vase on a table set and ready for eats! Salad, tomato, Dharma wine. LaFleur enters the house, “Something smells good.” {What’s with all the vegetables? Vegetarians}
Juliet cooked.  He gives her the flower; after all, she was amazing today. They hug.
Juliet-“Thank you for believing in me.”
More kissing.
Juliet- “I love you.”
He loves her too. {OMFG!}

LaFleur, in glasses, reads a {blue} book {no title}, “Wake up, Boss.”
Horace wakes up.
LaFleur-“How’s your head?”
It hurts.
LaFleur got good news and bad news.
Horace wants the good news first.
He’s a daddy. The bad news is he missed it.
LaFleur smiles proudly, “It’s a boy.”
He asks Horace why he was busy drinking and blowing up trees to see him be born.
Horace shares he was looking for a pair of socks, {Red socks?!} all of his were dirty so he grabbed a pair of Amy’s.  He found Paul’s Ankh in the back of the drawer.
Jim is surprised he got upset over a necklace.   Horace also shares that it’s only been three years since Paul’s gone, “Is that really long enough to get over someone?”
It is LaFleur’s turn to share. He had a thing for a girl once. Although he had a shot at her, he didn’t take it. While he laid in bed every night, he wondered if that was a mistake, “Wonder if I’d ever stop thinking about her.” Now he can barely remember what she looks like. “And her face...She’s just, gone. And she aint never coming back.”
He feels three years is long enough to get over someone. {Never say never!}

Juliet and James sleep. The phone rings, waking them. {Juliet naked. Sawyer NOT!} James answers the 'bat phone'. {lol!}
He tells the caller “No. Don’t bring em in. Just meet me in the North Valley.”
James hurries to put on his Dharma jumpsuit and glasses.
He tells Juliet Jin called, everything’s okay, but he’s gotta go.

James drives a blue jeep to meet Jin.
Jin pulls up in the blue VW van.
Out steps Hurley and guitar case and Jack.
There is a sense of “happy to see each other”.
James removes his glasses and sees Kate. They make eye contact.

LaFleur is a GREAT episode!!
Let's go back to Mr. John Locke-Jeremy Bentham for a minute.   I’ve mentioned many times the sensation that he, along with the rest of them, are in a state of learning, growing, evolving, maybe to reach enlightenment.   I didn’t take Bentham/Locke’s death literally.    I feel this with a few of our other "Island" residents too.  Maybe it’s more of a spiritual ending and rebirth.   I could be wrong about it.  But again for me, metaphoric hints to things seem to be a major part of the experience.   I also keep the "game" element close, while still wondering about the "merged reality" being a possible way they are experiencing things. There totally seems to be a connection to machines and them being high.

And just for the record I want to state that there are "issues" addressed in the episode with LaFleur that for me really feel like they're pointing to Jack and Christian.

Things to Note…Questions to ask…
* EYES. Glasses.
* 1974-1977
* “When” are Locke and the people on the Hydra Island?
* The people we know who’ve done bad things end up working Dharma Security.
* Egypt. Greek. Roman.
* Languages. Communication.
* Ankh- Life. Eternal life. Breath of life
* Pregnancy. Birth. Breeding. Create. Death.
* Remember. Forget. Head. Mind.
* Change identities. Integrate. Role changes.
* Disappear.  Appear.
* Mad scientist. Plato.
* The "Hostiles" broke the truce? Richard’s people have guns and walkies.
* Amy doesn't wear a Dharma jumpsuit, ever.
* Horace doesn’t drink, but is drunk.
* Horace was with Olivia the teacher when Ben was born.  She was Ben’s teacher.  How is she “associated” with Horace?
* Should young Ben be there yet?
* Turn it off.  A machine  that "looks like" (here it's the security fence).  Turn on-turn off.
* Gone-not gone.   Dead-Alive.
* Is "moving on" the same as "passing away?"   Or just removed from the playing field? Or just moving forward?
* The 70’s had some friggin ugly décor!
* Why didn’t Juliet or any of the other Lostie’s choose to leave on the sub? Ever.
* The head case, uh, I mean Dan- Emotional, like he was when we first met him.
* “Don’t get involved”  Is also said by Ben when he sent Goodwin and Ethan to infiltrate the survivors of Oceanic.
* “Who are you people?”...Michael has said this same line.
* Alcohol. Marijuana.  Things that make you high.
* UPSIDE DOWN!
* Here in the 70’s Sawyer wears glasses to see far and read. On the beach in 2004 he needs glasses only to read.   Hmm...the "Island" and healing...vision...eyes...
* The little girl waving to Daniel in 1974 should not be Charlotte.  Ben told us she was born in 1979. So how could this be?   Could Dan’s personal sense of time be skewed due to some sort of altered-mental state he may be in? Come on! He’s a friggin head case!
* Who is James... Really?

Vocabulary and Research...
* The Musion Eyeliner is a modern commercial variation of a stage illusion called Pepper’s ghost, using high definition video projection or LED screens to allow moving images to appear within a live stage setting.
* Motor pool is tied to Fleet vehicles. Those are groups of motor vehicles owned or leased by a business or government agency.
* Ankh- The Hindu meaning of the word Ankh is “EYE”.
* Ankh the Egyptian Symbol of key of life.  Eternal Life.  The gods are often seen holding an ankh to someone's lips his is considered to be an offering of "The Breath of Life".
* A Creole language, or simply a Creole, is a stable language that originates seemingly as a native pidgin. The term Creole comes from French Creole, from Spanish criollo, and from Portuguese crioulo, stemming from the verb criar ('to breed') from the Portuguese, or creare from Latin ('to produce, create'). The term was coined in the 16th century during the great expansion in European maritime power and trade and the establishment of European colonies in the Americas, Africa, and along the coast of South and Southeast Asia up to the Philippines, Indonesia, China, India, and in Oceania.
* Candida is a genus of yeasts.
* Tony Orlando and Dawn released the song Candida in 1970. Here's some lyrics.
The stars won't come out, If they know that you're about.Cause they couldn't match the glow of your eyes
And, oh, who am I? Just an ordinary guy, Trying hard to win me first prize
Oh my Candida, We could make it together,
The further from here girl the better
Where the air is fresh and clean
Oh my Candida, Just take my hand and I'll lead ya
I promise that life will be sweeter
'Cause it said so in my dreams.

* In 5th century BC Greece, Antiphon the Sophist, in a fragment preserved from his chief work On Truth held that: "Time is not a reality (hypostasis), but a concept (noêma) or a measure (metron)."

* Arrow of time, or time’s arrow, is a term coined in 1927 by British astronomer Arthur Eddington used to distinguish a direction of time on a four-dimensional relativistic map of the world.

* Altered States of Consciousness is sometimes characterized by a different estimation of time. Some psychoactive substances – such as entheogens – may also dramatically alter a person's temporal judgment. When viewed under the influence of such substances as LSD, psychedelic mushrooms and peyote, a clock may appear to be a strange reference point and a useless tool for measuring the passage of events, as it does not correlate with the user's experience. At higher doses, time may appear to slow down, stop, speed up, go backwards and even seem out of sequence. As the boundaries for experiencing time are removed, so is its relevance. Many users claim this unbounded timelessness feels like a glimpse into spiritual infinity. To imagine that one exists somewhere "outside" of time is one of the hallmark experiences of a psychedelic voyage. Marijuana, a milder psychedelic, may also distort the perception of time to a lesser degree.

The practice of meditation, central to all Buddhist traditions, takes as its goal the reflection of the mind back upon itself, thus altering the subjective experience of time; the so called, 'entering the now'.

* Clouding of consciousness is a global impairment in higher central nervous functioning. All aspects of cognitive functioning are affected. On mental status examination it is manifest by disorientation in time, place and person, memory difficulties caused by failure to register and recall, aphasia, dysphasia and agnosia.  Impaired perception functioning leads to illusions and hallucinations often in the visual sensory modality. This then causes agitation and distress and secondary delusions.

* Perception of time. Even in the presence of timepieces, different individuals may judge an identical length of time to be passing at different rate.

* Ego death is an experience that reveals the illusory aspect of the ego, sometimes undergone by Psychonauts, Mysticism, Shamans, Monks, Psychologists, and others interested in exploring the depths of the mind. The practice of ego death as a deliberately sought “mystical experience“ in some ways overlaps, but is nevertheless distinct from, traditional teachings concerning enlightenment/Nirvana (In Buddhism) or “Mosksha” (in Hinduism), which might perhaps be better understood as transcendence of the notion that one even has any actual, non-illusory “ego“ with which to experience "death" in the first place.
It should also be noted, within the context of this system, that ego death is not actual death itself, but rather a temporary state of mind, which can be stabilized and revertedThis can be done either by thought-source control for any who have achieved the state, as well as by de-intoxication for those who have reached the state using psychedelics.

The LaFleur episode seems to have hinted in a clearer way how "time" could be an "emotional issue" not a "time travel" issue, per say.   It is true; emotions play a part in "time" for everyone.  Believe me I have not counted out the possibility of adult Ben knowing everything about the crash and people of Oceanic, because of a "possible" “time travel” thingy going on.   If he was a kid when LaFleur and Juliet were there in the 70’s that would mean he would know Sawyer, Kate, Jack, Locke and everyone else in 2004.  But he would know James as LaFleur, not Ford or Sawyer. Hmmmm.
But if we’re seeing more about them running through "mind" exercises/journey, a game, then they all just may be nothing more than case studies.  Or who knows, maybe they even paid for this experience.
Why, oh why do I still feel we’re seeing issues regarding perception and altered states of consciousness. Again, I’m not trying to convince you that “all” of what we see is “Not Real”, but too many times I feel as if things are not real and are happening while in an altered state of consciousness.  We still see evidence of things possibly happening while they are in a sleep state.    We also see hints to hypnosis, brain washing, coercive persuasion, illusions, hallucinations, lucid dreams, drugs, sleep deprivation, mediation, and all the other Mind Fucks we see.  But it does all serve a purpose...so that there is learning and an awakening.

At this point all I can suggest is to go get yourself a wind up clock, listen to it tick.
Close your eyes and relax. Take a deep breath, and exhale slowly.
Concentrate on your breathing. Feel yourself breathe. With each breath you become more relaxed.
Imagine a brilliant bright light above you. Focus in on this light as it flows through your body. Allow yourself to relax and drift off you fall deeper and deeper into a more relaxed state of mind.
As I count back from 10 to 1 you will feel calm and at peace.
10 9 8 7 6... You will enter a safe place where nothing can hurt you... 5 4 3 2... If at any time you need to come back, all you have to do is open your eyes. 1.

Now, sleep, dream, recall a memory or imagine a new future with the new you.  Your mind can take you to some amazing places.
Oh, one more thought before I leave you…
Let's see…Christian speaks on Jacobs behalf…Sawyer speaks on Horace’s behalf…Horace builds the cabin for himself and the Mrs.…Hmmmmm.

Love to all who are “LOST”™

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right! The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either! You all know I hate spoilers! And I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me off my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode; we all know what they are. Understood? Let the fun begin! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance.
