THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME.

Let's talk about LOST! The Shape of Things to Come.

Kate is on the beach washing up; She smiles over at Jack. {2 bottles}

Inside Jack's tent, he goes through a mega suitcase of meds. Kate asks if he has a prescription for that.
Jack-"Yeah, I wrote it myself."
{Note this RX bottle is a pop top bottle, not child proof top!}
Kate tells him he looks terrible. {Heard that before!} Jack explains he's taking antibiotic for a stomach bug.  Kate suggests he eat some crackers as they always make her feel better. {Pregnant perhaps?!}
Kate wonders why "they aren't back from the boat yet, Jack?"
Jack explains Sayid said the engines are down, "My guess is their trying to fix it, wondering why the hell they can't get in touch with us."But he's not worried; his gut says "We're getting off this Island."
Kate jokes about his sick gut.
Vincent barks.
Bernard calls out for help as Vincent frantically barks {No collar}.
Dr. Ray's body washes up on shore.
Bernard tells Jack and Kate that the dog was barking, "I didn't see him."
Dr. Ray, complete with sewn up left cheek, has a slit throat!
Daniel, Charlotte, Juliet, Sun and Jin run over to see what's going on.
Jack asks Daniel if he knows who this is.  Dan knows this is the boat's Doctor.

"We're all gonna die" Hugo proclaims, as he holds Aaron.
They're hanging out in Ben's house, where he, Sawyer and Locke are involved in a game of Risk!
Sawyer tells "Chicken little" to calm down, "The sky aint falling just yet."
Hugo-"This is exactly what he wants, for us to fight amongst ourselves. You're making a big mistake, Dude."
Locke-"It's his mistake to make, Hugo"
Sawyer states that he's "attacking Siberia."
Sawyer and Hugo roll the 5 die/dice.
Sawyer RED- 6-5-2 (13).
Hugo WHITE 3-2 (5)
Sawyer's happy with the roll.
Hugo-"I can't believe your just giving him Australia. AUSTRALIA'S THE KEY TO THE WHOLE GAME."
Sawyer-"Says you."
Sawyer rolls the 3 red dice 6-6-2 {Orange juice, coffee. Also note-All dice rolls happen in the NORTH section of the board. Greenland, etc.}

Alex, black blindfold and cuffed, is hostage of the tiny army.    Her captor removes the blindfold and demands she turn off the security fence.  Alex begs for them to be aware of a baby with them.  He doesn't give a shit and holds a gun to her head.  She disarms using the 1623 code.

In Ben's house the RISK game is interrupted by the black phone ringing. {Not Bat Phone.} John answers it.  A woman's recorded voice repeats CODE 14 J.
John automatically decides it must be for Ben.

Ben is playing piano; much like Jack did in this house. He is playing a very ominous tune.
The three amigos enter and Ben turns initially happy to see them.
John asks about that code.
Ben freaks asking where he heard that. Ben gets into protection mode, grabs a weapon from the piano bench and hands it to Sawyer and instructs the men to get over to the other house, "it's easier to fortify and we'll have better position on the tree lines."
John wants to know what he's talking about.
Ben- "They're here."
Ben's eyes are closed and he's shaking; opens eyes!

Laying on the dry/packed sand of the Sahara Desert. {No footprints around} He's wearing a Dharma parker belonging to Halliwax. Vapor escapes from him; he pukes. His right arm is injured.
He hears horses. {Horse's wearing pretty black and white decoration} Two men approach him with guns.
In their native language they appear to be commenting and questioning on how this man got there as they note there are no footprints. Ben asks if they speak English, but he speaks Arabic/Turkish to them. (I think Turkish)
One man searches Ben and finds something in Ben's pocket; it's a baton/night stick.
Ben clubs one guy, acquires his rifle and then shoots the one on the horse. The other man says he surrenders.
Ben-"Oh, so you do speak English."
Ben knocks him out with the rifle. In Indian Jones style, Ben mounts the horse and heads off, triumphant!

Laundry hangs on the line. (Remember Ben gave Juliet a washer and dryer.) Sawyer guesses code 14 J aint for the pizza boy.
Ben explains it's the early warning system; somebody tripped the panic switch at the security fence. He also knows one of his people's been captured.
Ben's also upset they debated 5 minutes before getting him. So much for their head start.
Inside Ben's house they prepare for protection.
Sawyer wants to go grab Frenchy and the kids if their gonna hunker down. Ben tells him not to bother as he's sent them away to somewhere safe. Sawyer wants to get sleeping Claire.
Ben feels there's no time for that, but Sawyer will make time.
Everyone is armed.
Ben informs John it's very important that he survives what's about to happen here, "I need you to stay close to me." {Why? No. really…why?}
Ben explains the people that are coming won't risk hurting him. If John wants to live Ben's his best chance.

Jack covers Dr Rays body/head, "His throat was slit. Know anything about that?"
Miles- "No, he was fine when I last saw him."
Jack asks when.
Dan-"When? When" is kind of a relative term."
Of course they don't know anything about it. No luck fixing the sat phone either; the 'mic/mike' was smashed. Best case scenario they'd only be able to broadcast tone squelch "Beeps and Boops."
Bernard comments that it still can be used as some sort of a telegraph. Dan feels if he had some strips of ferrous metal, a 9 volt battery clip and some wiring maybe he can set it up, so Kate lets him know about the salvage from the plane.
Dan and his mullet leave with Kate.
Jack asks Bernard if he's got a second.

Ben and John hunker down, blocking entrances into the house. John asks Ben if he's scared of these people.
Ben-"That's right John, I am."
Hugo enters the room holding Aaron. John warns him to stay away from the window. Hugo is very concerned about Sawyer getting back in.
Ben-"He's not."

Sawyer runs into Doug on his search for Claire.
Doug carries firewood and questions Sawyer about him having a gun. Sawyer tells him to get back inside and wait… Doug is shot! Two more Lostie's come out to look and they are shot!
Sawyer ends up in a shootout!  He takes cover behind a picnic table and yells out for Claire.  He makes a run for it {And doesn't fucking get hit!} The house is blown up!

Ben arrives nonchalant at a lovely hotel in Tunisia. He's dusty and dirty. He rings the desk bell. The counter clerk named Narjiss. We learn this is not his first time in Tunisia, but it's been a while. She asks his name.
Ben-"I'm actually a preferred guest, it should be under Dean Moriarity."
He shows a passport. She checks her ledger and then looks at Ben with prudence.
Ben-"Today's date is?"
Narjiss-"October the 24th Sir." {10-24}
Ben jokingly comments verifying it's "2005".
She confirms, 2005.
Ben takes the keys and on his way up the stairs he sees Sayid on the news. Sayid is surrounded by press. Sayid's wife had been killed.

Aaron is crying. Hugo looks out the window at the destroyed house.  In the other room John demands that Ben tell him what's going on. Ben tells him the technical term is "Shock and Awe."
They are trying to frighten Ben into surrendering.
John asks why they stopped shooting.
Hugo asks if that is Claire's house {He doesn't know?}
John again tells him to get the baby away from the window.
Hugo brings Aaron in the back room.
Ben tells John he needs to survive this because there is only one person who can help them now; Jacob. And they have to go to him together. John reveals he doesn't know where the cabin in.
Ben-"I know. But Hurley does."

Sawyer rummages through the wreckage searching for Claire.  There she is under a tarp/blanket, relatively unharmed but knocked out.
Sawyer picks her up she says "Charlie? Where's Aaron?"
{Was she just with Charlie?}
Sawyer carries her back to Ben's house.
Hurley prepares a laundry basket as a crib for Aaron. He hears Sawyer yell for them to open the front door but Ben won't open the door. So Hurley breaks open a window to let him in with Claire.
Sawyer tells John "She got her bell rung, but she's gonna be all right."
Hurley carries Claire off.
John closes the black out curtains. Sawyer asks Ben why "They" started shooting not saying what they want.

Ben-"Those people were murdered to make you angry, James. So you'd be more likely to come storming in here and throw me to the wolves."
James grabs Ben and tells him that sounds like a great plan.
Conveniently the doorbell rings and they all look to the door.
Ben loudly states, "I wouldn't if I were you."
They cautiously let Miles in.
Sawyer-"Who the hell let you out?"
The guilty people are those who gave him a walki talki. They have a hostage and they wan to talk.

A funeral procession in Tikrit, Iraq. Mourners are holding framed photos of Nadia. This area is guarded by American soldiers. A jeep with the word "PRESS" written on it pulls up.It's Ben, outfitted with a fancy camera and groovy hat! He makes his way up stairs to a roof area where he photographs a man across the street drinking, and snaps shots of the procession. He photographs Sayid, who is 2nd on the right side line of the casket carriers. Sayid conveniently turns his head and sees Ben. Ben realizes he's been spotted so he tries to get away quickly and is tackled by Sayid.

Sayid-"You vultures. You follow me to Tikrit, you spy on me!"
He sees it's Ben!
Ben tells him he's there "to find the man who murdered your wife."
Sayid-"How did you get here?"
Ben tells him he came across the Syrian border.
Sayid wants to know how he got off the island.
Ben-"Your friend Desmond had a boat. Remember, the Elizabeth. I followed a heading to Fiji. Then I chartered a plane."
Sayid-"Why now?"
Ben-"You remember the name Charles Widmore, don't ya? The man who tried to convince the world that your plane was on the bottom of the ocean."
Sayid wants to know what that has to do with him and Nadia.
Ben goes on to say there was a man at her procession who goes by the name of Ishmael Bakir, one of Widmore's men. Ben shows him a photo of this man behind the wheel at a traffic light. Bakia was last seen five days ago in L.A., caught by a traffic camera, speeding away from the corner of La Brea and Santa Monica. That's three blocks from where Nadia was killed.
Sayid is heartbroken, "Why would these people want to murder her?"
Ben doesn't know, but they did. Sayid crumbles the photo as Ben watched Sayid to see if he's "taken the bait".

Sawyer pats down Miles.
John asks Miles how many of them are there. Miles thinks maybe six but he's not sure. Sawyer asks how he's not sure, he came over on the same boat with them.
Miles-"They told me they were just security."
Security for Ben; once they got him to escort him to the mainland.
Ben-"Well Miles. Sounds like you're not gonna collect your 3.2 million dollars."
Miles tells him to take it (walki).
Ben refuses to talk to them.
Miles reveals they have a hostage. Ben informs him "they've badly miscalculated. Because every single one of his people is prepared to die in service to this island."
Miles admits they have his daughter.
Ben takes the walki, says "Hello."
The voice on the other end confirms he's speaking with Benjamin Linus. This is Martin Keamy, an employee of Charles Widmore.
Sawyer asks "Who's Charles Widmore?" {Sawyer seems to never know who anyone is!}
John-"Later."
Keamy instructs Ben to look out his east window so they can talk about this face to face.
At the window, Ben is told to look to the left.
Ben sees Keamy.
Keamy explains his terms, "You're gonna step out the front door, put your hands above your head, you're gonna walk straight to me. Once I have you in my custody, and I promise you that no one else in that house will be harmed."
They both know that once they have Ben there's nothing to stop them from killing everyone on this island. After all Ben knows what kind of guy Keamy is.
Ben-"Martin Christopher Keamy, former first Sergeant United States Marine Corp. Served with distinction from 1996-2001 but since then you've worked with a number of mercenary organizations, specifically in Uganda. So I know exactly what kind of man you are Mr. Keamy. And we can dispense with the formalities."
Keamy whistles to have cuffed Alex brought out.
Frightened Alex kneels on the ground with his gun pointed to her head.
Keamy tells Ben to get his ass out there right now or "I'm gonna kill your daughter."
Ben wants to present a counter proposal. To have Keamy and his friends turn around, walk back to their helicopter and fly away, forget they ever heard of this island.
Keamy isn't budging, he gives Alex the walki so she can say goodbye to her daddy.
Alex cries, tells Ben they are serious mentioning they killed Karl and her mother.
Ben assures her he has this under control and that everything is gonna be okay.
Keamy takes the walki back and gives Ben 10 seconds!
During this countdown Ben exclaims she is not his daughter, that he stole her as a baby from an insane woman, "She's a pawn, nothing more. She means nothing to me. I'm not coming out of this house. So if you want to kill her, go ahead and do it…"       Without hesitation Alex is shot!
Ben is shocked!

Sawyer looks out the window, he "doesn't see him.    He just left her body there and disappeared into the jungle."
Locke knows they won't be gone long, "it'll be dark in 20 minutes and then they're gonna come for him."
Sawyer suggests they just hand Ben over to them. John feels that still would keep them from getting killed. James aint got no intention of dying.
Ben is still stunned and in a bit of shock, "HE CHANGED THE RULES."
John wonders Who?! What Rules?!
Sawyer tells John he knows he's right, their best chance is to toss Ben out and fend for themselves.
Stunned Ben walks to the bookcase and reveals the hidden room/closet. He closes himself in.

There's Sawyer again yelling for someone to "Open this damn door!"

Hidden behind the hanging clothes, Ben reveals another fake wall/panel that opened, reveals an ancient door with hieroglyphics.
Ben heads through that entrance.

Ben in a Tea/Coffee house. {Mirror over the bar.} Ben is drinking tea/coffee while keeping his eye on Ishmael. Ishmael leaves so Ben follows him through a crowded market area.
In a back alley Ishmael sneaks up behind Ben, pulls a gun and tells him to "walk." He wants to know who he is and why is he following him. {He doesn't know this is Ben?} Ben introduces himself and informs Ishmael he needs him to take a message to Mr. Widmore. Ishmael gets shot from behind by Sayid! Sayid empties his gun w/silencer into the man!
Ben tells Sayid they are finished there, that he should turn around, walk away, "Morn your loss, get on with your life."
Ben tells him to go home. Once you let your grief become anger it will never go away, "I speak from experience."
Sayid tells him he spent the last eight years of his life searching for the woman he loves. He finally found and married her, then he buried her yesterday, "So don't tell me this is not my war. Benjamin. Who's next?"
Ben lets Sayid know he will be in touch.

Sawyer still bangs on the door, telling Ben to open it.
Claire, Aaron and Hugo come out from the back room. Claire's a bit wobbly, "But I'll live."
Miles-"I wouldn't be too sure about that."
Ben re-emerges from the hidden lair covered in black soot. Ben takes the walki and instructs the rest that in a minute they have to run from the house as fast as they can, when he gives the order he wants them to head straight for the tree line. They want to be as far away from the guys with guns as possible. Rumbling begins! The orange juice glass shakes! {Very familiar! Hmmm!}
Outside a huge aggressive train-like version of the black smoke comes from behind the house.
Ben instructs them to get outside.
Through the Flashing of the smoke monster we see it grab the soldiers.
Hugo-"You just call that thing?"
Ben just has them to head for the trees and he'll catch up; he's going to say goodbye to his daughter.

At her body, Ben cries.

Back at the beach Dan sends a message via Morse code to the freighter.They might actually have a signal... "What happened to the doctor?"
A reply in Morse code comes back.
Dan looks troubled and tells them that the freighter didn't exactly say what happened to the doctor, your friends are fine and the helicopters coming back in the morning.
Jack looks to Bernard for translating the code.
Bernard tells him Dan's lying. The message said "What are you talking about? The doctor is fine."
Yes, Bernard knows Morse code.
Doctor Jack asks what does that mean, the doctor is fine. Jack wants to know what's with the lies. He grabs Dan and asks, "Were you ever gonna take us off this Island?"
Dan- "No."
Juliet has no reaction.
Jack starts to get pains. Our doctor is sick.

Lighting up their torches, Sawyer tells Miles which direction his chopper buddies went and if he wants to catch up. Miles wants to stay with them for now. Ben joins them.
John-"Sorry about your daughter."
Ben thanks him.
John continues about Ben lying to him, "You told me you didn't know what the smoke monster was." {Not really}
Ben tells him he can ask Jacob all about it when they get to the cabin.
Sawyer-"Jacob? Who the hell's Jacob?"{Really?!}
He the man who's gonna tell them what to do next.
Sawyer is frustrated and proclaims he's done with all of this he should have never followed these wackos in the first place. They all decide to leave Locke and head back to the beach; Hurley too.
Locke pulls a gun on James.
Sawyer wonders-"Have you lost your mind?"
John tells him Hugo stays with them. Sawyer pulls a gun on John, "Not a chance!"     Hurley reluctantly will go with them to find the cabin. Upset Hurley wants them to put their guns down.
Sawyer-"You don't have to do this."
Hurley-"You guys go back to the beach. I will catch up sooner or later."
Sawyer- to John, "You harm so much as one hair on his curly head, I'll kill you."
John- "Fair enough."
John hands Ben a torch and asks "Which way?"
Ben-"Follow me."

A taxi pulls up to a fancy building in London, England. {Taxi license R838VLW. Parked car LLO4BAV} Ben is dressed very sharp, all in black, tells the doorman that he is there to see Mr. and Mrs. Kendrick in 4E. They're expecting him, even at this hour, "Feel free to call up."
Ben has his trusty baton with him. The doorman doesn't call up and just lets Ben go on.
In the elevator he removes his black gloves and uses a key to get him to the penthouse suite.
He enters Charles Widmore's bedroom,"Wake up Charles."
Charles- "I wondered when you were gonna show up. I see you've been getting more sun."
Ben-"Iraq is lovely this time of year." {Although it sounds like he says your rock. lol.  Note Ben stands in the complete dark of the room, NOT in the lit area of the doorway. We have half light-half dark}
Ben asks when he started sleeping with a bottle of scotch by the bed. {MacCutheons}
Charles admits, "When the nightmares started."
He pours a drink and asks if Ben is there to kill him.
Ben-"We both know I can't do that."
Ben his there because "You murdered my daughter."
Charles-"Don't stand there and look at me with those horrible eyes of yours. And lay the blame for the death of that poor girl on me. When we both know very well I didn't murder her at all, Benjamin. You did."
Ben-"No. that's not true."
Charles-"Yes, Benjamin. It is. You creep into my bedroom in the dead of night, like a rat, and have the audacity to pretend that you're the victim. I know who you are, Boy. What you are. I know that everything you have, you took from me. So, once again I ask you, why are you here?"
Ben-"I'm going to kill your daughter. Penelope, is it? And once she's gone, once she's dead, then you'll understand how I feel. And you'll wish you hadn't changed the rules."
Charles says he'll never find her, "That Island's mine, Benjamin. It always was. It will be again."
Ben-"But you'll never find it."
Charles "Then I suppose the hunt is on for both of us."
Ben tells him to sleep tight and closes the door behind him.

The Shape of Things to Come is a GREAT EPISODE!

Things to note…Questions to ask…
* "AUSTRALIA'S THE KEY TO THE WHOLE GAME." Who visits Australia often?! CHRISTIAN.  Jack.
* Here we see the "game" element/layer.
"HE CHANGED THE RULES."   You know I LOVE that this is a living-breathing CHESS game!  A gentleman's game, complete with gentlemen rules and guidelines! They are AWARE of what they are involved in. That means the parties involved all had an "understanding" in how to engage in this " War game" (so to speak).
* How many times has this "game" been played? Is the "prize" this Island?  Has it changed hands according to who wins the war? Is this how Ben acquired it? Widmore claims it was his before and it will be again. Or does that have nothing to do with who "Has" the Island?
* Who is Ben a preferred guest of?
* Do they have DeLorean cars in Iraq?
* Could Kate be pregnant? I'm just asking!
* What is Ben? Really…
* Ben wears a scarf thingy around his neck in the Flashes.
* How often has Jack been hitting the "prescription suitcase"?   The drug suitcase could be bottomless!
* Vincent is always around to draw attention to the "Issue" at hand. Convenient, huh?! Nope!
* There's NO delay in the Morse code transmission, just as there was no delay in the radio transmission previously.
* I'm not so sure this is the exact passport of Ben's that Sayid finds in the Economist.
* Sayid is part of the casket carriers. Do husbands carry the casket there?
* Freighter soldiers have walki's not Sat-phones.
* New DHARMA LOGO. {Cone? Spiral?} Is it connected to the Airport we saw when Juliet left Miami? HALLIWAX  JACKET. Cold.
* All of a sudden Ben NEEDS John and Hugo to go to the cabin.   Is Ben to 'deliver' John and Hugo to Jacob? Are they brothers/related?
* Of the remaining Locke camp, they all choose to abandon his side.  Reluctantly Hugo stays to help them find the cabin.
* I have the urge for a cup of tea.
* Ben heads into yet another secret underground area that is closed off by a door with hieroglyphics on it. {Timer in Hatch} ANCIENT. How/Why does he have access to it?
* The title is also the title of H.G. Wells book.
* No Footprints. How did Ben appear in the desert?
* The traffic light photo is in the same area Hurley was having is run in/chase with the police.
* What's with the $3.2 million mention again? Code for something? Morse Code.
* Along with 14J, could 4E be a code too?  A chess game move, maybe? Game codes.
* The reason for pushing the button every 108 minutes was to deal with the electromagnetic build up. Since there is NO button to push is maintaining this build up not an issue anymore?  Was the 108 minutes really a timer for something else?  Does it have anything to do with the Smoke Monster or just the game?
* "Time Issues" …Ben tells Widmore he'll never find the Island.  Ben's daughter has been killed by Widmore's side, if Widmore got his "pawns" to the Island he obviously knows where it is.   So when is this Flash from? If this is after Alex is killed, as we see it, depending on how fast Ben got to Widmore, there are no holiday decorations in the lobby of Widmore's building. So how long could Ben have waited to see Charles? Is this a different time?
* Sayid tells Danielle when he is her prisoner that Nadia was dead.
* Why is Ben so intent on calling Alex his daughter?
* The word PRESS on Ben's car in Iraq.  Press what? The button?
* The freighter people=Security?  Nope, Just MORE PAWNS/soldiers.
* Could Charlie have been removed from the playing field because he could be considered a "Hanging Pawn"?
* Mental health.  Carriers of emotional pain.
* Head
* Why did the smoke monster toss Eko around the jungle? Why did Eko need to be removed?
* Narjiss anagram- Jar Sins-Jars Sin- Jars Ins. That was fun.
* "Dharma" food drops have always been made.  Widmore products are also delivered to the "Island".  Of course you need to keep rations/sundries, etc., supplied to your soldiers.
* Could the smoke monster have anything to do with removal of people from the playing field or transporting them somewhere else?  What is the purpose of it? What is it protecting/securing?  It could just a metaphor.

I loved this episode. To hear things I've been hinting at from the clues was very exciting. Ben is very talented at manipulating people into doing things by making them thinks it's their idea. He is the ultimate Con Man.

Ben has killed people but it seems he is not be able to kill certain people so he gets others to do the actual killing of someone for him.  Now Sayid is "hooked" and committed to eliminating Widmore's pawns.   This bit of convincing others to kill for him includes getting Locke to kill Anthony Cooper.  But remember, in that case Locke couldn't kill Anthony either.  So Richard cleverly shows Locke a "loophole" or a "cheat" to get the task done. Locke gets Sawyer to do it.
Good vs. evil. Light vs. dark.  Who are the Good Guys and who are the Bad?  I think it was finally made more clear to everyone in this episode.

Remember the Karen mantra, People (and things)aren't who/what you think, so be careful which side you are picking!

The shape of things to come. The shape of the "Island" or the shape of those who can/will transform? Hmmm.

Love to all who are "LOST"™

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right! Things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either. I hate spoilers! I stand clear of reading certain sites, as to not take me off my own research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode, we all know what they are. I'll only note things that I feel "could be" clues in bold.

TABULA RASA

Let's talk about LOST!  Tabula Rasa.

Claire and the survivors are on the beach going through luggage.

The Marshal tells Jack "Don't trust her. She's dangerous."
Jack- "Try not to move, man."
The Marshal keeps saying they/he have to find her, they/he have to bring her back.
Jack-"Every time I ask you who you have to bring back, you pass out on me again.  Since your fever is running pretty high, I'm guessing you have no idea who the hell you're talking about."
The Marshal, who now seems lucid, wants to know where his handcuffs are. He has Jack get something from his jacket pocket. It is a mug shot flyer. Again he tells Jack she's dangerous. Jack looks troubled.
Kate and the transceiver group trek back to the beach. Kate looks sad and troubled.
Boone comments that it's getting dark.
Sawyer -"Then pick up the pace."
Boone calls him a name {dick, I think}.
Sawyer-"A little louder."
Sayid suggests they make camp there. Sawyer doesn't want to stop so Sayid tells him to have a nice walk through the jungle in the dark.
Sawyer- "Ooooh. Afraid the tress are gonna get us?"
Sayid- "No. What is knocking down the trees will get you."
Maybe Sawyer should have the clip for the gun back. Kate tells him to put the gun back in his pants.
Kate confirms, "Sayid's right, you keep walking, you're not gonna make it to the beach."
Why, does she know something?
Kate-"Trust me."

Night:
Sayid uses a rock (to represent Australia) and a torch (to represent them/us) as visual aids,"This is Australia. This is us."
Sawyer-"Nice stick."
Sayid continues- "Two days ago we take off from Sydney.   We fly along the same north east route every commercial airliner bound for Los Angeles does."
Kate confirms the pilot says he lost communication with the ground six hours in; he turned around and headed for Fiji.   No one knew they changed course. The turbulence hit, "We know the rest."
Kate-"The pilot said we were 1,000 miles off course."
Charlie feels they'll find us, "They have satellites in space that can take pictures of your license plate."
Sayid- "If only we were all wearing license plates." Basic photography, point and shoot. Satellites can shoot, but must be told where to point.
Charlie- "Oh. Bullocks."
Sawyer-"Okay. Really enjoyed the puppet show. Fantastic...we're stuck in the middle of damn nowhere. How 'bout we talk about that other thing."
He refers to the transmission Abdul picked up on the radio with the French chick that said "They're all dead."  The 16 year loop. "Let's talk about that."
No one says anything about that.
Boone- "Well. We have to tell the others when they get back." But tell them what; they don't know what they heard after all Shannon's not a stupid translator.
Sayid suggests they don't say anything, "To relay what we heard, without fully understanding it, will cause a panic. If we tell them what we know, we take away their hope. And hope is a very dangerous thing to lose."
Kate-"So we lie."

Hurley asks Jack "Was it a dinosaur?"
Jack says it wasn't.
Hurley-"You say you didn't see it."
Jack- "I didn't."
They are busy making a tent to shelter the Marshal. Jack educates Hurley about knowing it wasn't a dinosaur because they are extinct.
Hurley-"Oh. Yeah."
Hurley asks what the Marshal's story is; he looks kind of...dying, and yellow.
Jack says he's not going to die.   His wound is infected; the antibiotics will fight it off.   If not, his body will shut down, one piece at a time. His abdomen goes rigid then..."
Hurley-" He looks like he's in pain."
Hurley picks up Kate's mug shot and wonders what she did; she looks pretty hard core.
Jack doesn't know; it's none of his business.

All of the transceiver group is sleeping except for Boone. He steals the clip from Sayid. Sayid wakes up.
Boone claims he's standing guard, "You heard what they said's out there."
Boone also took the gun from Sawyer.
Shannon is upset because Boone has never held a gun, doesn't believe in guns, "He goes on marches."
Boone-"I don't go on marches."
There's an argument about Sawyer's misuse of the word Aljazeera {the network}.
Shannon suggests Kate hold the gun. They all agree.
{Flash Whoosh}
...A rifle is pulled on "Kate" in Australia as she sleeps in Ray Mullens sheep pen. {Ray hold rifle in left hand. There are lockers on the back wall.}  She says she walked from the nearest town; 15 kilometers.
She tells Ray her name is Annie.
Ray feeds her bacon, eggs and coffee and he asks her why she's trespassing on his property. She says she's from Canada and she ran out of money. She graduated from college and wanted to see the world; Australia was tops on her list so she hoped a flight to Melbourne.    She doesn't know anybody "here", so she figured she'd walk for a while.
Ray states that "Melbourne's a hundred kilometers from here."
She likes walking and she likes farms too; knows how to work one. Ray's wife died 8 months earlier. {He still wears wedding ring} He offers her a fair wage and a place to stay if she helps with the chores. She agrees to the "Deal."
She wants to "Shake" on it, but Ray shows he has a prosthetic right arm. He's a lefty.
(Check out the arms!)
Hurley runs to tell Jack, who is still tending to the marshal, that they're back.

Sayid gathers the survivors around to recap the trek, "As you and the others know, I hiked up the mountain in an attempt to help the rescue team locate us. The transceiver failed to pick up a signal. We weren't able to send out a call for help."  They won't give up.  He has everyone gather up all their electronic equipment, he can boost the signal and try again.    It may take time so he gives instructions to ration remaining food and gather rain water.   He needs to organize three separate groups; each group should have a leader. 1 group for water. {He'll organize that}
Sayid asks, "Who's going to organize electronics?" {Why not Sayid? That's fucked up!}
Jack is relieved to see Kate.
Kate needs to tell him something. She tells them about the blocking signal preventing them from sending a signal.
Kate- "It was a distress call from a French woman. She said that the others were dead. That something had killed them all. She was alone on the Island. It's been playing for 16 years, Jack."
She felt she wanted to tell him.
Jack asks if there's anything else she wants to tell him.  Kate looks back at the tent housing the Marshal and asks how he is, "He wake up?"
Jack-"Just for a few seconds during the surgery."
He lies to Kate and says the Marshal didn't say anything.

As Hurley and Jack are moving two plane seats, Hurley wants to know what Kate said; since they know about the mug shot, the cuffs and that guy keeps saying she's dangerous.
Jack tells him again, "I don't know anything." It's not his business, it's not his problem.
Hurley- "Yeah, you're right. We'll let Johnny Fever take care of her when he gets better."
Only he's not getting better, he needs stronger antibiotics.
The stuff Hurley gave him was for ear infections and foot fungus; apparently they went through everything. Jack asks about the luggage in the overhead compartments.  Hurley won't go in there with the dead bodies.    Hurley will keep an eye on...Jack will handle it.

Jack with a flashlight, looks for meds in the dark fuselage. Jack hears a noise.
"Boo." It's Sawyer trick or treating.
Jack calls it looting. He wants to know what's in Sawyers bag.
Sawyer has Booze, smokes and a couple of Playboy, "What's in yours?"
Jack-"Medicine."
Jack wonders if this what he does back home too, "Steal from the dead?"
Sawyer- "Brother. You gotta wake up... Rescue aint coming."
Sawyer feels Jack's wasting his time trying to save that guy. He also asks how many of those pills is he going to use to fix him up.
Sawyer says to Jack, "YOU'RE JUST NOT LOOKING AT THE BIG PICTURE, Doc. You're still in civilization." And he's in the wild.

On the beach Charlie uses the wheelchair to cart luggage. He helps Claire. Charlie comments about the wheelchair, "Well, look on the bright side. Whose ever this was is probably better off than we are."

Sun thinks she found Jin's bag.   Jin checks it but it's not his. He tells Sun she looks filthy, she needs to wash up. As she walks way he says "I love you." She forces a smile back.

Charlie asks Claire how the baby is and discovers there is no man in her life.   That's very modern of her. Claire makes a comment about those guys hiking up the mountain for nothing.

Hurley runs out of the tent carrying three empty water bottles, right into Kate. He nervously tells her he was going to get water. They haven't met before; Kate introduces herself. She was looking for Jack. Jack went to get medicine from the fuselage. Kate has a gun sticking out of her pants back waist band. This makes Hurley even more nervous. He pretty much runs away from her. {He looks back when he runs}

Rain hits the beach and everyone tries to take cover and gather rain water.
Kate enters the Marshal's tent.
As she leans over him {Apparently check if he's conscious} he appears to be out....{FLASH}.... Annie hides her wages in the pantry behind the wall in a tin can. {Pear jars dated 2003 and 2004} She's on the run again. Ray turns on the light and catches her. He would have held on to the money for her but she has trust issues.
Annie wrote Ray a note in place of saying goodbye.   She's been with Ray almost three months. Every time Ray asks her questions about herself she gets that look in her eye.
Ray convinces her to stay 1 more night; offers to drive her to the train station in the morning.
Ray-"I get it you. Everyone deserves a fresh start."……The marshal wakes up and chokes Kate. Jack breaks it up.
Jack asks Kate "What did you do?"
She was just checking him.
Jack gives the Marshal water and explains that he's not responding to antibiotics, he's bleeding internally, his fever is pushing 104 and his abdomen is ridged. Jack leaves to get him more water.

Outside the tent Kate asks Jack "What are you going to do about it?" {About him} She asks if he'll suffer and will it be quick.
Jack explains it won't be quick; it could take 2, 3 may be 4 days, and he'll feel it.    Kate wants Jack to put him out of his misery.
Jack admits he saw her mug shot.
Jack–"I am NOT A MURDERER."

{Flash}
Annie rides passenger in Ray's old red truck. If You've Got Leaving on Your Mind, by Patsy Cline plays on the radio. Rays cutely asks if they listen to Patsy Cline in Canada. She tells him they listen to Patsy Cline everywhere. He offers her a burger she declines saying she'll eat on the train. She notices Ray keeps checking the rear view mirror.   She asks what he's looking for.  She sees in the side view mirror a big black SUV approaching fast. She now realizes Ray "knows".    He admits to knowing for a couple of days. He saw her picture in the post office, "I guess they knew you were down under"   Ray needs the reward money, $23,000 to pay for the mortgage. She confesses her name's not Annie. {Ray still wears wedding ring} The Marshal pulls right next to Kate's side of the truck opens the window and does the ol pulls the make believe gun/trigger gesture at her………

Kate stands in the rain on the beach.
Walt plays with three white rocks and a plane part. {Makes a slide-like game} Michael and Walt talk about the bald guy Mr. Locke. Michael asks if Mr. Locke "got any kids?"
He didn't say.
Michael wants to know what he said.
Walt tells him "Some of its secret."
Michael-"Did he tell you not to tell me?"
No, he didn't. Michael pushes to know the secret.
Walt says that Mr. Locke said, "A miracle happened to him."
{BUT DOES NOT SAY WHAT THE MIRACLE WAS OR REVEAL ANYTHING!}
Michael tosses up miracle to the fact it's a miracle they all survived a plane crash. Michael wants Walt to stop hanging around with Locke but Walt feels that Locke's his friend.
Michael- "I'm your friend too."
Walt with attitude says, "If you were my friend you'd find Vincent."
Michael- "I haven't given up on your dog. I'm gonna do everything I can to find him."
Walt gets confrontational telling Michael he won't find the dog, he doesn't care about Vincent. Michael-"I'm gonna get your dog back.   As soon as it stops raining.  Listen to me. I'm gonna get your dog back."
And just like that THE RAIN STOPS.

Michael {Red leash} walks through the jungle talking to himself, mocking the coincidence about looking for Vincent "when it stops raining...I'm gonna find your dog. I'm just gonna go walking through the haunted damn jungle, looking for your..."
He hears something. "Vincent!?"
He hears grunts and growls. "Hey Vincent, that you, Buddy?" More growls. Michael runs away as if something is chasing him.   He runs until he comes upon Sun who is topless, washing up. Uncomfortable, he tries to explain to her in English that something was chasing him. He doesn't hear it now. He warns her she should probably head back. He picks up her top and hands it to her. {Why?} "I didn't see anything."
As he walks away he says again "If you're worried about it, I didn't see anything."
She looks back, watches him walk away.

The Marshal is suffering; he's yelling/crying out in pain.  Everyone hears  him.

Charlie sits by Locke who is whittling a dog whistle. {Because he's Walt's REAL friend}
Charlie tells him he used some tribal flutes once in a recording session. He's in a band.
Locke doesn't acknowledge him.

Anxious Shannon tells Boone she wishes he {the Marshal} would just die already.

Sayid offers assistance to Jack.
He whispers to Jack, "The others are getting upset. They want to know what's going on inside the tent."
Jack- "I'm trying to save his life."
Sayid- "Rumor has it, you can't." {WTF?! Who started this rumor? Who would know Jack can't?}

Night:
The Marshal still yells out, suffering in agony.  Kate, about to light a fire, discovers no matches. Sawyer, on cue, offers her a light. {He has a lighter.} He came by to thank her for taking that gun away from him. She says she didn't take it away from him.
Sawyer-"It's stickin' out of your denims, aint it?"
He's glad he's not the one with the gun right now. With the poor boy screaming all night, he knows what's got to be done, "The only one that can do it, it the one with that gun."
He tells her not to act so surprised, "I heard you tell the hero the same thing…. Hell, there's only one bullet left. It'd be damn near poetic."
Jack is still tending to the dying Marshal. The marshal wants Jack to listen to him, "No matter what she does, no matter how she makes you feel, don't trust a word that she says. She will do anything to get away."
Jack asks what she did.
The Marshal doesn't say what it was; he wants to talk to her, alone. Jack doesn't respond.
The Marshal notes, "She got to you too."
Outside Kate just stares at the marshal's tent....
{FLASH}...The Marshal gives her the make believe gun/trigger gesture. Ray sees another car headed for them. The Marshal drops back behind them. Once clear from the passing car, the chase is on. Kate spins the truck out causing it to rollover and down a hill. She saves Ray from the fiery crash, pulling his prosthetic arm from his shirt. The marshal apprehends Kate. At the top of the road, a truck honks by and Ray wakes up. The Marshal pulls a gun on Kate.
Kate talks with the Marshal in his tent. He wonders what the favor was she was going to ask him for when they were on the plane... {FLASH}...Kate and the Marshal on the plane during the turbulence. {Again watch the marshals face with the turbulence.} She has one favor to ask. The plane starts its break up, etc.
Kate wanted to be sure Ray Mullen got his 23 grand; Yeah,  the guy who ratted her out.
The Marshal-"You really are one of a kind."
He goes on to say she would have got away if she didn't save him.
Kate- "In case you didn't notice, I did get away."
Marshal- "You don't look free to me….Kate, I'm gonna die, right?"

Hurley asks Jack "Where's the fugitive?"
Jack informs him "In the tent. What's she gonna do, she's 120lbs soaking wet".
Hurley reveals that she has a gun. Concerned Jack runs toward the tent to make sure Kate wasn't going to kill the Marshal. He's relieved to see Kate walk out of the tent. A shot rings out! It's Sawyer who leaves the tent having done the deed. He shot the Marshal in the chest; trying to hit his heart but it doesn't kill him.
Sawyer tells Jack the Marshal wanted it, "Hell, he asked me."

Inside the tent Jack tells Sawyer he perforated his lung, it will take the Marshal hours bleed out. Sawyer missed shooting him in the heart; He only had one bullet. Jack kicks Sawyer out.
Sawyer tries to smoke but his cigarette won't light.
After a minute we don't hear anything coming from the Marshal. Jack walks out of the tent with blood on his hands. Jack is upset, he doesn't say a word.

Daylight on the beach:
Locke sits on the beach facing the jungle. He blows into the whistle he made four times. He hears something. It's Vincent! {Collar on. Blue dog tag}
Locke walks through the wreckage to where Michael and Walt are sleeping in the sun.
Locke wakes up Michael, "Shhh. I found your sons dog. Vincent. I tethered him to a tree just over there."
Locke tells him he knows Walt lost his mom so he thought it would be best Michael should be the one to bring his dog back to him. {Wink.}

Jack sits on the beach looking out to the water.
Kate joins him; she wants to confess what she did and why he was after her.
Jack -"I don't wanna know. It doesn't matter, Kate, who we were, what we did before this, before the crash. It doesn't really...Three days ago we all died. We should all be able to start over."
Okay. {WTF? Is he giving up on rescue already?}

Hurley dumps sand out of his sneaker while listening to Wash Away on the CD player. The survivors are going about their new lives on the beach.
Jin wipes his hands, checks on sleeping Sun; tenderly touches/moves her hair.
Boone gives Shannon a fixed pair of sunglasses.
Sayid tosses fruit to Sawyer.
Charlie puts new tape on his fingers. {Permanent marker}
Claire sits and talks to her tummy.
Michael brings Vincent back to Walt. Walt is very happy.
Locke sits very quietly watching....watching them! Then...as the last note rings out on Wash Away into the LOST music, and that last note rings out, listen to the sounds very carefully. {With headphones if necessary} As the camera pans around from behind Locke to the front of Locke... Monster sounds.... Interesting, huh?! Hmmmmmmmm. Yeah!

Thing to note...Questions to ask...
  • Kate says she's from Canada. What is Kate's role, really? Dangerous, how? Where's page 1 of her mug shot flyer? She's cunning and clever. Is she capable of crashing a plane to get away?
  • Kate/Annie likes orange shirts. Lol
  • The Dahli Lama wears orange. (And red)
  • Alias. {Names}
  • Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, Charlie, Boone and Shannon agree to lie. Hmmm. Standing guard.
  • Could the Castaways be tracked?
  • Marches. March. Mars.
  • Fever. Fire. Lighter. Light.
  • Pace.
  • Chicken/eggs. Pear/pair.
  • Mirror. Rear view mirror.
  • Boone steals the bullet clip from Sayid. Sawyer steals the clip on badge from the Marshal.
  • The passenger and driver seats in Rays truck are opposite from the way they are the States.
  • Down. Under. Slide down.
  • In the wild"...as opposed to being in cages or domesticated?
  • Parts of the body will shut down one at a time.
  • Walk. Walking.
  • Michael seems troubled regarding Walt and Mr. Locke.
  • Michael and Sun. I think they have a connection.
  • Locke gives Walt the illusion that Michael found the dog.
  • Charlie's taped fingers- FATE...LATE...what next?...KATE?
  • Sayid is the one who talks to the group about organizing and helping to contribute to their Island survival.
  • Keep your eye on Locke at all times. With what I saw with him here I believe there's more to Mr. Locke.

Tabula Rasa is a Great episode! We have our Lostie's arriving on the "Island" and are able to leave behind "everything", getting a clean slate.
More to it, I think so. What do you think?
For example, Jack may have added something very interesting to his CLEAN SLATE....ironic isn't it?
You'll hear the Lostie's say things like..."In a former life I was..." or "In the real world I did..."
Pay attention to things like that.

The story gets told to us through metaphors, word play, using subliminal  and  lesser simpler situations to make us "real into" what the bigger picture really is.  Our clues will come from not only what we are seeing in the scene, but VERY much from the dialogue.    The words and phrases that are used are huge clues.  So many things are right in front of our eyes. So don't just look at the show, really see what's there. Look deeper!

A "Clean slate", a "New beginning", a "New life", "Start over" and a "Do-Over". I point this out because of my thoughts of the survivors doing just that, re-living things over.

Good! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues in bold.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION. MISSING PIECES 9.

Let's talk about LOST! Missing Pieces 9: Tropical Depression.

{Arzt is chasing a bug with a jar. He is wearing his neckerchief type thingy around his neck.}

ARZT-"I have my eyes on you. You have your eyes on me ... HA!" {He bends down and traps a bug in a glass jar} "HaHaHa!"

{Michael approaches. He has a backpack}

MICHAEL-"Doctor Arzt! Yo! Doctor Arzt! Hey. What's the weather going to be like for tomorrow?"

ARZT-"Uh, tomorrow, ummm ... I don't know"

MICHAEL- "What?"

ARZT- " I'm not a meteorologist. I'm just a high school science teacher.  All that stuff I said about monsoon season, I made it up."

MICHAEL- "What do you mean you made it up?"  {Michael wants to get up, but reluctantly stays to hear Arzt's story}

ARZT-"I fell in love with a woman from Australia. I met her on the Internet.  We chatted with each other for about a year.  I saved all my and I flew down to Sydney. I shouldn't have used my buddy Nick's picture okay, I admit that. I said that. I said that I was sorry. I thought we were beyond that, so it made no difference. That we were really connected."

MICHAEL- "Mmm" {Michael being polite}

ARZT- "So I get to Sydney, and I see her and she looks so beautiful.  I took her out to the nicest restaurant I could find.  We order the lobster. Then she friggen disappeared.   Never came back to the table. They wouldn't even let me give the lobster back! {Michael wants to get up and leave, but Arzt continues his story and Michael stays}

ARZT- "That's not the worst part. Not the worst part. The worst part is, I could have just hung out. Sydney. Doin the bar scene? You know what I did? I booked an early flight out. Oceanic flight 815."

MICHAEL- "You know what? I- I would really love to feel sorry for you and all. But you know, take a look around. Everybody on this beach has got a story just like yours. Do you think any of us wanna to be here?"

ARZT- "I know nobody does. I'm really sorry that I lied about the weather."

MICHAEL- "It's okay. The raft is finished.  We're getting out of here. We're going to bring back help."

ARZT- "You are! I know you are! I know you are! And I am going to be the first one on the beach waving 'hello' when you get there."

MICHAEL- " Okay, man, take care." {Michael walks away}.

GREAT MOBISODE!
* I thought Arzt was frickin' married!!
* Arzt saying he lied... Did he? Or does he play games like the Others; speaking Bull Shit, but somewhere in there is the truth?  Was Arzt's role to have the raft depart when it was supposed to?
* Everybody on the "Island" does indeed have a similar story. The how and why they are "connected" to the "Island".
* "No Worries" is a term familiar with people who live in the Islands. Island life.
* When Arzt says, "And I am going to be the first one on the beach waving 'hello' when you get there." Go back and re-read that line! Is Arzt going to be at another/different beach waving at Michael????
* Could the word depression be giving us a clue, a tie if you will, to Santa Rosa? Or a clue to something being below/sunken, etc.
* I'm sure we'll need to find out the importance of "jars".

Let's explore! Let's learn. Weeeeeeeee!!
Living in Florida and having lived through a few major hurricanes, I can tell you this...A tropical depression is a system that develops an eye in the center.  The depression can grow into a much greater storm. The eye develops due to the low atmospheric pressure.  If the system grows, the eye remaining in the center, and the system swirling around it, you get a 'cone' effect. There's another clue I think will come into play, "Cone".
The storm is in full force all around the eye, leaving the eye clear of clouds, rain, thunder, major winds, etc.
Tropical depressions that progress into a GREAT storm are known as Hurricanes here on the east coast. Other parts of the world call them Typhoons, Cyclones, Monsoons. There are also time of the year factors that contribute to the forming of such storms.

Arzt uses the word monsoon. The English name Monsoon, was derived from the Arabic word mausim meaning seasons.
* Depression in geology is a land form sunken or depressed below the surrounding area. Depressions may be formed by various mechanisms, and may be referred to by a variety of technical terms. An impact crater is a depression created by an impact such as a meteorite crater. * Depression in physiology and medicine refers to a lowering, in particular a reduction in a particular biological variable or the function of an organ. It is in contrast to elevation.
* Depression of the central nervous system of an animal may be expressed as drowsiness or sleep, lack of coordination and unconsciousness.
* Bug: Hemiptera is an order of insects, comprising around 80,000 species of cicadas, aphids, plant hoppers, shied bugs, and others.
* BUG: A covert listening device, more commonly known as a bug, is usually a combination of a mini radio transmitter with a microphone. The use of bugs, is a common technique in espionage.
* The Volkswagen Type 1, more commonly known as the Beetle, is an economy car produced by the German auto maker Volkswagen from 1938 until 2003.
* A bug in poker is a limited form of wild card.
* A computer BUG.
* A pathogen (Greek pathos (suffering/emotion) and gene (to give birth to)) or infectious agent is a biological agent that causes disease or illness to its host.
* The Arachnids (known as Bugs) are a fictional alien race from the movie Starship Troopers. Note that the bugs in the movie differ considerably from those in the novel on which it is based.
* The butterfly effect is a phrase that encapsulates the more technical notion of sensitive dependence on initial conditions in chaos theory. Small variations of the initial condition of a nonlinear dynamical system may produce large variations in the long term behavior of the system. So this is sometimes presented as esoteric behavior, but can be exhibited by very simple systems. The phrase refers to the idea that a butterfly's wings might create tiny changes in the atmosphere that ultimately cause a tornado to appear (or prevent a tornado from appearing). The flapping wing represents a small change in the initial condition of the system, which causes a chain of events leading to large-scale phenomena. Had the butterfly not flapped its wings, the trajectory of the system might have been vastly different.

You're wondering why I gave a description of the butterfly effect here with this Mobisode. I know it must seem really out of context, but you all know I never let go of a clue unless it is proved it does not pertain to our story. So this clue word stays….for now.

Eye of the storm and cone of the storm. Tropical storm...is it only telling us about Arzt's inability to predict the weather?  Maybe this Mobisode could possibly be showing us that there is an event about to happen that will cause changes in other events on the "Island".
A storm is coming, indeed!

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right! The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either! You all know I hate spoilers! And I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me off my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode, we all know what they are. Understood? Good! Let the fun begin! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance! It will get very exciting as we progress into the story.
