Follow the Leader.

Let's talk about LOST! Follow the Leader.

Dan demands Richard tells him where the Hydrogen Bomb is, “The one I told your people to bury.” Richard wants Dan to lower his gun so they can talk, “Nobody has to get hurt here.”
Dan’s gonna give Richard three seconds… {Where’s Eloise? Where’s the bomb?}

Kate asks Jack what Dan’s doing in there, “Jack, he’s crazy.”
Jack- “Is he? What if this is why we’re here? What if this is our one chance to put things back the way they’re supposed to be?”
A shot rings out and Dan is down. Jack wants to run over to Dan but Kate fears Jack will get shot too; she tells him they have to get out of there now.

Charles Widmore comes galloping over and hits Jack with his rifle.   Another Other tells Kate, “Don’t move!”
Widmore kicks Jack and asks, “And just who the bloody hell may you be?” {This is bloody Jack. Lol}

Eloise crouches over dead Dan. She thumbs through the journal landing on the sentiment she left Dan on the first page.  Dead Dan just stares up. {Creepy} Charles enters the camp with his two prisoners and asks Eloise what happened.
Richard- “This man walked into camp and put a gun to my head and Eloise reacted.”
Widmore found his prisoners “crouched in the bushes, like rats.”
The two prisoners came there with Dan. Eloise tells them to, “Put them in my tent.”
Charles asks Eloise, “Do you care to tell me, Eloise, who he is and why The Dharma Initiative seems to have declared war on us?”
She tells him these people aren’t from The Dharma Initiative.
Charles-“Then where the hell are they from?”
Richard just observes.

Thirty Years Later:
(Click the pics!)

Richard, wearing his reading glasses, is building an old sailing vessel in a glass bottle. He is literally working with tweezers to hoist a sail. {Looks like the Black Rock}

A female member of the camp runs up to Richard to announce “He’s here.”
John Locke arrives carrying a dead boar over his shoulders and announces “I brought dinner.”    These campers are drying fish on a line. {Michael said the others ate dried fish.} Richard seems confused to see him, “John?”

John shakes his hand, “Hello Richard, It’s been a while.”
Richard chuckles and remarks it’s been three years. He asks what happened, “Where were you?”

John will explain on the way. John tells Richard it’s going to be night soon, “You and I have an errand to run and we don’t have a lot of time.”
Richard stares at John with confusion.
John-“What’s wrong?”
Richard feels there’s something different about him.
John agrees and smiles, “I have a purpose now.”
Then Richard sees beaten Ben and Sun walk into the beach camp. Richard wants to know what “he’s/Ben” doing there.
John- “He helped me get back.” {Did he know Ben would ‘kill’ him?}

Sun asks Ben why Locke said these were his people, “I thought they were yours?”
Ben explains when he left the island John stepped in, “He’s the leader now.”
Sun doesn’t know the man talking with John.
Ben shares this is Richard Alpert, “He’s a kind of…adviser. And he has had that job for a very, very long time.”
This triggers Sun to get out the photo {minus the frame} of the 1977 Dharma recruits she was shown by Christian and asks Richard if he was there in 1977.   She’s asks if he remembers any of them. {Watch John} Richard admits he was here 30 years ago and he remembers meeting these people very clearly because he watched them all die.

Sun sits staring at Jin's wedding ring.   John offers her a drink of water. Sun asks John if he thinks it’s true; that they’re all dead.
John- “I don’t think we went through all this for nothing, Sun.”
Richard’s ready. John asks him if he still has that compass he gave him and indeed Richard does still have the rusty compass; she can still find north.
John invites Ben to go along.
Ben sarcastically replies, “Why, John, don’t you trust me here with my former people? Afraid I’ll stage a coup.”
John isn’t afraid of anything Ben can do anymore. In that case Ben would love to go. John tells Sun to stay here, “We’ll be back in a couple of hours. I’ll see what I can find out. But whatever happens Sun, you have my word. If there’s a way for you and Jin to be together again, if there’s a way to save our people, I’ll find it."

Kate is getting roughed up by a Hostile.
Jack- “Take it easy on her!”
The Hostile kicks Jack in the face, “Don’t talk. Understand?”
Kate chats with bloody Jack. “You know, before we were caught, you said we needed to put things back the way they were supposed to be. What did you mean by that?”
Jack feels if they can do what Faraday said, then their plane never crashes, “Flight 815 lands in Los Angeles and everyone we lost since we got here…they’d all be alive.”
Kate -“And what about us? We just…go on living our life…because we never met.”
Jack seems fine with wiping away the all the misery, “…Wipe it clean. It never happened.”
Kate feels it wasn’t all misery.
Jack- “Enough of it was.” Eloise enters the tent asking about the man she shot, “What did he need the bomb for?”
Jack doesn’t think Eloise would believe the story.
Eloise shares, when she was “17 years old, I took a young man to the bomb. He proceeded to tell me that if we buried it underground, that things would work out splendidly. When I asked him how he could be so sure…he said that he was from the future. And then he disappeared, right in front of my bloody eyes. 10 minutes ago I shot that man in the back. And before he died…he told me that he…he said he was my son.”
She wants Jack to explain to her, and she gives her word she’ll believe him.

 Eloise shows Jack her handwriting in the journal but doesn’t remember writing it. Jack admits it’s because she hasn’t written it yet. Jack knows it’s hard for her to understand but what she just did was an accident but he thinks there’s a way for her to take it all back.

Jack goes on to say her son came back there because her son figured out a way to change things, “He doesn’t have to be dead. You don’t have to have killed him.” If they do what’s written in that journal, none of this will have happened. Eloise asks Kate if Jack knows what he’s talking about.
Kate, with tears in her eyes replies, “He thinks he does.”
Eloise will take them to the bomb but explains there’s a small issue. They secured it over 20 years ago underground, but since that time it appears that someone has built an entire village over it. The Dharma Initiative.
Eloise- “It appears that you two have been passing yourself off as members so, I suppose coming and going will be relatively simple.”
Jack thinks it might be a little more complicated than that.

In the Security station Radzinsky shows Jim the video tape with Kate and demands he reveal where she is. Jim wants his lawyer.
Radzinsky starts roughing up Jim {His way of getting answers} while cuffed red shirt Juliet watches. Horace, who is still in charge orders Radzinsky to stop, but fired up Radzinsky feels he’s the one in charge now. “If we’re gonna protect our people and all the work we’re doing here, you don’t have the stomach for what happens next.”
Radzinsky gives Jim one last chance to tell where Kate is or he will kill Jim.

Radzinsky continues beating up Jim, “You ready to talk now?”
Bloody Jim says,”Nope.”
Juliet is getting upset. Radzinsky is getting tired of this, but still demands to know “where your girlfriend took the boy. She bring him to the Hostiles? You know where they are?”
Juliet begs Radzinsky to stop beating on Jim, but he won’t stop. “Tell me what I want to know!”
Juliet pleads with him, “We have known each other for three years. We are not bad people. We are not here to hurt you.”
Jim, who’s on the ground tells Juliet “Don’t...Whatever you tell them...they aint gonna believe you. It’s only gonna get more people hurt.”
She looks heartbroken. Horace asks what they’re doing there because beating him is pointless, “He’s not gonna talk.”
Phil feels he can make Jim talk so Phil punches Juliet in the face. This pisses off Jim, “Son of a bitch! You’re a dead man, Phil! I’m gonna kill you.”
Mitch comes in to tell Mr. Radzinsky that there’s still no sign of Miles or Jin. “But the recruits from last week, I got their sub’s manifest from Amy there were three last minute add-ons. They were the two people that shot at you …Shephard and Austen, and one guy we can’t track down. He’s gotta be a part of this.”
Radzinsky- “Who the hell is Hugo Reyes?”
Phil- “He’s the fat guy.”

Hugo the Chef is in the Dharma food pantry packing heavily for his trek to the beach. The security alarm is buzzing in Dharmaville. Hugo, his filled food backpack and guitar case leave Dharmaville and head into the jungle. Dr. Cheng sees him from afar.

Hugo meets up with Miles and Jin, shows him his food stash and asks what the rescue plan is. Miles tells him there is no rescue plan because they’re headed to the beach; that’s why they sent him for food. Hugo’s concerned because, “But they got Sawyer and Juliet.”
Miles acknowledges there are 30 of them and they all have guns, “The only people we can rescue is ourselves.”
Hugo feels they gotta do something because he knows, “Sawyer would never leave us behind.”
They hear rustling in the grass; it’s Dr. Cheng. He wants to know what the boys are up to. Cheng walks right up to Miles, “Your friend Faraday said that you were from the future. I need to know if he was telling the truth.”
Hurley-“Dude, that’s ridiculous.”
Cheng starts questioning Hugo, “What years were you born?”
Hugo- “1931.” {Making him 46. lol}
Cheng- “So you fought in the Korean war?”
Hugo hesitates then forces out, “There’s no such thing.”
Hurley’s asked- “Who’s the president of the United States?”
Hurley, apparently not knowing the answer breaks down and admits they are from the future. Cheng walks up to Miles, with a bit of excitement in his eyes, and asks Miles if it’s true, “You are my son?”
Yep, it’s true.
Cheng reveals to Miles that his friend the physicist told him to evacuate everyone he could off the island because there will be a massive accident the Swan, “Now is that true?”
Miles thinks for a second and tells dad that “He’s been right about everything so far. If Faraday said get people off the island, I’d do it.”    {WHAT?! He’s been right about everything so far? Really?!}
Cheng- “Well, let’s hope he knows what he’s doing.”

Dead Dan stares at the sky. Charles crouches beside him and asks Richard why this man looks so familiar. Eloise walks over with a blanket to cover Dan’s body and tells Richard that he and Eric are going with her. She tells Richard to untie the prisoners and give her a moment with Dan. Eloise covers Dan and closes his eyes. She tells Charles she’s taking them to the bomb. Charles touches her stomach and you can hear him in whispers say, “Are you insane?…I‘m worried about you…Not in your condition.”
Jack asks Richard, “Who is he?”
Richard says the man he’s asking about is Charles Widmore, “He and Eloise are...Let’s just say love can be complicated.” {Does Richard carry a torch for her?}
Kate’s still teary eyed. Eloise and her group move out.

Richard carries a torch while John leads him and Ben through the jungle. Richard asks John if he’s ready to tell him where he’s been the last three years.

John looks a bit confused, “You really don’t know?”
Richard knows that the day that Ben here turned the wheel that he and John were sitting on a log, “there was a bright light and a loud noise and then you just…disappeared.”
Well Richard is about to see where John disappeared to. After they’re finished with that, John would like Richard to take him to see Jacob. Ben and Richard stop, stunned at by what John wants. Ben speaks with caution, “That’s...not how it works, John.”
John asks Richard if that’s true; is this gonna be a problem?
Richard, also seeming hesitant, “You just got back, John, there’s no reason to rush into...”
John- “I am the leader now. Right?”
Richard confirms he is.
Good.
Richard can take John to Jacob.
John- “Let’s keep moving. We’re almost to the plane.”
Concerned Ben asks, “What plane?”

They arrive at the beech craft; the one used to smuggle heroin; flew out of Nigeria and crashed here. John tells Richard to listen carefully, “because you’re only gonna have about three minutes get this right.”
“To get what right?” asks Richard.
John-“A man’s about to walk out of the jungle. He’s been shot in the leg. You’ll need this to get the bullet out.” {Gives him a satchel} Richard isn’t following/grasping.
John insists he listen, “This is the important part. You’re gonna need to tell him he has to bring everyone who left back the island. And when he asks how to do that, you tell him he’s gonna have to die.”
Just then they see a man walk out of the jungle.
Ben- “Who is that man John?”
John smiles, “Me.”
Flash/shot- John tourniquets his leg with his belt. He hears someone coming and draws his knife. It's Richard. John is surprised to see him, “What is happening?”
Richard tells him that what's happening is that he's bleeding to death...I need to get the bullet out.”
He breaks out a medical kit.
John-“How did you know there was a bullet my leg?”
Richard- “Because you told me there was, John.”
John-“No. No, I didn't.”
Richard- “Well, you will.”
Observing this scene is Ben and John.
Ben- “This must be quite the out of body experience.”
John-“Something like that.”
Ben remarks that his timing was impeccable, “How did you know when to be here?”
John- “The Island told me. Didn't it ever tell you things?”
Ben- “No, John and clearly it hasn’t told you where to find Jacob or you wouldn’t need Richard to show you.”
John accuses Ben of never having seen Jacob. A whoosh and thud can be heard. Richard in the visual playback with John is now alone.
Ben- “What just happened? Where did you go?” {Hugo}
John- “To give Richard his compass back.”
Richard walks over to John, “You want the bullet?” {Bullet is held by Richard's tweezers.}
John- “Keep it.”
John asks Richard if everything went okay.
Richard feels “Flash” John seemed pretty convinced, especially when he told John he’d have to die.
Richard’s certainly glad that didn’t have to happen.   John confesses it did.  He suggests they get back to camp. Ben and Richard share interesting eye communication.

Dr. Cheng heads down the stairs to the Security Station telling all they need to evacuate the island of all non essential personnel. He walked in on the bloody interrogation of LaFleur and Juliet. Cheng wants to know what’s going on.
Radzinsky- “Aren’t you supposed to be at the Swan right now, Chen? We’re supposed to break ground in less than 20 hours.”
Cheng explains they’re under imminent threat, “If we start drilling, there’s a high probability of a cataclysmic accident.”
Radzinsky insists they are drilling on schedule. Cheng turns to Horace, who he assumes is still in charge, for help.
Radzinski cuts him off announcing “He’s not in charge anymore. This is my decision. And it’s been made. We keep working” {Who the fuck is Radzinsky really?!}
Jim interjects by revealing Cheng is right; it aint safe. Put the woman and children on the sub, but he wants for him and Juliet to go on the sub also, in exchange for Intel on the whereabouts of the Hostiles. Jim asks “Sweetheart” if she’s okay with that. And yep, she is.
Radzinsky says if Jim wants on that sub, “Draw me a map. I wanna know exactly where the Hostiles are.”

At the stream Eloise asks if “You two know how to swim?”
Kate wonders why they just don’t go around it.
Eloise smirks, “No dear, we need to go in. We have to swim under the pond to get to the tunnels.”
Kate decides she’s not going, she’s gonna go back and find everyone else. She tells Jack she can’t go any further with him, not this time. Jack tells her she can’t go back there now, “they know about us. They tried to kill us.”
Kate- “And what are you trying to do?”
No answer.
Kate- “Bye, Jack.”   She runs off. Eric aims his rifle at Kate, “You’re not going anywhere.”
Jack gets protective of Kate.
Eloise- “We’re not in the habit of telling our secrets to strangers then just letting them saunter off. Kate, with her back to them, says she doesn’t care about their secrets she just wants to leave. Jack tells Eric to lower his gun, “If she wants to leave she can leave!”
Eric fires a shot and Kate actually stops in her tracks to see if she’s been hit. She has not. Sayid pops up from the bushes and fired the shot killing Eric.
Eloise and Richard put their hands up as if surrendering.

Richard asks Eloise what are we doing here, “That man just killed one of our own people and you’re acting like it doesn’t matter. Eloise feels if these people are right about what they’re about to do, it won’t matter.
Richard- “And what are they about to do?”

Sayid questions Jack, “So you’re telling me we’re going to erase the last three years of our lives?” Excited Jack feels they can change things.
Sayid doesn’t know if Jack’s aware of him already changing things, “I killed Benjamin Linus. And we’re all still here.”
Kate- “It’s because you didn’t kill him.”
She shares that she and Sawyer took Ben to the Others so that they could save him.
Sayid- “Why did you do that?”
Kate-"...Since when did shooting kids and blowing up Hydrogen Bombs become ok?”
Jack- “The three of us disappeared off that plane and ended up here, ended up now because this is our chance to change things.”
Kate-”And if you’re wrong then everyone on the Island dies. Do you understand that?”
Jack-“I’m not wrong, Kate! This is it. This is why we’re here….This is our destiny.”
Kate accuses him of sounding like Locke, the guy who Jack said was crazy.
Jack- “
Well, Maybe I was wrong.”
Kate- “No you were right.”
So she’s going back to find the rest of their people because if I can’t stop him then maybe they can. Kate heads off.

The PA system announces "The sub will part in 30 minutes. All evacuees please proceed to the dock."

Miles looks through binoculars at the people entering the sub. He sees young Charlotte and her mom get out of the van, then his dad, mom and infant self.   Miles observes his dad yelling at his mom {Lara} to leave now.

Hurley asks why the dads yelling at her. Miles realizes that’s the only way he can get her to get on the sub. Jin suggests they get moving. They wait a second because Miles sees Jim and Juliet heading toward the sub. Miles hands the binoculars to Hurley to witness as well.

Hurley tells him not to worry, everything’s gonna be OK, “Sawyer always has a plan, right?”
The cuffed couple is marched down the dock toward the sub.

Sawyer tells Juliet “We’ll buy Microsoft…and then we’ll bet the Cowboys in the 78 Superbowl. We’re gonna be rich.”   They’re amused.   He also says he’s sorry for not listening to her three years ago about her getting on the sub. Juliet is glad he talked her out of it. Red shirt Juliet heads into the sub first. Before Sawyer enters the sub he takes another look back at the Island and bids it “Good riddance.”
Down into the hatch he heads, but not without another last look.

Richard dives into the water.
Jack tells Sayid, “If I don’t see you on the other side, I won’t blame you.”
They shake hands.

Eloise tells Jack to “take a deep breath and follow Richard under. There’s an opening in the bottom of the rocks at the far side.”

Jack dives in.  He swims through the underwater tunnels and comes up the other side to Richard and ruins.  He tells Richard, “It was a lot further than I thought it was. Where are we?”
Richard replies {as if he can’t believe he’s say it} “The tunnels.”
Jack asks how they’re gonna get a bomb out of there.
Richard- “The same way we brought it in.”
Jack assumes he doesn’t mean through the pool.
Richard- “It’s a 12 foot long, 40,000 pound Hydrogen Bomb. No, not through the pool.”

Eloise emerges from the water and then Sayid. Jack is happy to see him.
Sayid feels if this works then Jack might just save them all and if it doesn’t, “At least you’ll put us out of our misery.”
Eloise- “ All right, let's get started.”

At night at the beach camp, John, Richard and Ben arrive. Sun looks at John awaiting an answer. John just nods yes at her. Richard will have a tent prepared for John and says they can get going first thing in the morning.
Eager John “Thought we could leave right now.”
This shocked Richard and Ben. Richard tells John “We can do whatever you want, but maybe the two of us should go to my tent and…” John cuts him off to ask if this is everyone.
Richard tells him there’s another group at the temple. John would like to talk to everyone here now. Richard, “Be my guest.”
John introduces himself to the group “I’ve been told that for some time you all have been accepting orders from a man named Jacob. And yet, oddly enough it seems that no one has actually seen him. Now, I’m sure there are very good reasons why his existence and whereabouts are a secret. I just don’t know what they are. And to be honest with all of you if there’s man telling us what to do, I want to know who he is.” Sun asks if this man Jacob can tell them how to bring Jin and the rest of their people back here.
John smiles, “Absolutely... Richard has agreed to show us where we need to go. So I’m gonna go and see Jacob…right now...And I’d like all of you to come with me.”
The camp is on board with this. Except for Richard and Ben who share a private moment where Richard admits he’s starting to think John Locke is going to be trouble.
Ben- “Why do you think I tried to kill him?”

The sub is still being loaded up. Mitch cuffs Juliet and tells them they’re shoving off in two minutes and he’d appreciate it if they didn’t cause them any trouble.
Jim- “Wouldn’t think of it, Nemo.”
Juliet asks Jim what they’re gonna do when they get to Ann Arbor. Jin says they’re not going to Ann Arbor, “These guys aint cops. They got no authority over us back in the real world. So once we dock wherever we dock, we’re free.”
Juliet- “Real world.
I don’t even know what that means anymore.”
Jim holds her hand and tells her “whatever happens, I got your back, remember?” They share I love you.
Phil {from topside} yells not to close the hatch because there’s another passenger about to board. “Horace wants her off the Island too. We’ll let Ann Arbor deal with them. I actually caught her coming back into town.”
Enter Kate. They cuff her with the others. {They sit Kate next to Juliet so the two women are in front of Sawyer. Juliet seems to know Kate will always be her competition, the thing that comes between her and James}

Juliet and James aren’t thrilled to see Kate.
In the subs control room we hear, ‘Clear the bridge. All personnel lay below on the double.’

Captain Bird-“We’re away. Engineering take your stations. Boat is clear for sea.”
Over the speakers- ‘All men to your stations. Prepare to dive.’ Engines start up, Red light glows.
Bird- “Stand by main vents.” V.O., , “Ship has been cleared for dive. Ship to dive. Test two and three.” Submerge! {It looked like a bunny for a second, didn’t it?}

Richard leads Eloise, Jack and Sayid through the tunnels.

Sayid whispers to Jack, “I’m sure it’s occurred to you this woman’s motivation in helping us detonate the hydrogen bomb is only to annihilate the Dharma Initiative.”

Jack knows but still trusts her. Sayid asks why. Jack, “Because 30 yeas from now she’s the one who’s gonna tell us how to get back to the Island.”
This makes him trust her. They arrive at the cavern that houses the bomb. Eloise removes the tarp, uncovering the Jughead.
Eloise-“Now what?”

Daylight:
There is an Exodus of Locke’s flock as they head out to find Jacob. John mentions to Ben it’s a beautiful day.
Ben- “Yes. So far.”
Ben goes on to confide that “Richard had some concerns…This pilgrimage to Jacob makes him uncomfortable...He’s expressed reservations about whether or not you know what the hell you are doing.”
John appreciates him bringing this to his attention. Ben knows they’ve had their differences in the past but Ben is there to follow him now. So if he needs Jacob to help John reunite his people then he’ll do whatever. John isn’t interested in being reunited with his people.
Ben asks why they are going to see Jacob.
John-“So I can kill him.”
This stops Ben in his tracks.

Follow the Leader is a GREAT EPISODE!  Was there only one leader here?  Richard is leading the way through the underwater tunnels and will lead John and the camp on their journey to Jacob.  It seems we see there are a few people in charge or in the lead.

Things to Note...Questions to ask...
* Eloise is pregnant.
* Miles finds closure to his daddy abandoning him issues. He sees the truth that dad’s actions were for love, although Miles is a contributor in these events.  If you can’t change the past, wouldn’t that mean Miles would have always been a contributor in these events?
* Hurley’s fear was being asked who the president is.  Sawyer tells him it’s not a ‘game show’ but maybe it’s a game nonetheless.
* The "Islands" "healing" power: It fixed young Ben but seems to have an aversion to fixing vision issues. If the “Island” doesn’t age Richard, why would his eyes age, requiring him to need reading glasses?

* Jack seems to be in a lot of emotional pain.  Hurt enough to want to erase everything. He should just friggin push the "DELETE" button!
* Microsoft. Add-ons. Log. Map. Plane.
* 2 John Locke’s.  2 Miles’.  Technically 2 Dan’s.  Richard in 2 time periods.
* Did you see the “Older woman” that looked like Older Juliet on the beach drying fish?
* The Jughead “leak” is in a different spot than we originally saw.
* The tunnels: how the Hostiles get around undetected.
* New logos.
* What and who is Richard advising?
* Wipe it clean. Start over. Erase. Tablua Rasa.
* Disappear. People disappear. The “Island” disappeared.
* Notice that a few of our Lostie's, including Miles, is getting more gray hair.
* As the sub with Sawyer and Juliet are submerging, Richard along with Jack, Sayid and Eloise are diving into the underwater tunnel. Down the fucking rabbit hole we all go.
* The “idea” to die didn’t come from Richard, it came from John himself.   This “Idea” would have to originate from somewhere.  Does/did John already know Ben will try to kill him on his trip to retrieve the people who left?  Unless of course, John is indeed talking to himself here.  Plus this scene reminded me of Back to the Future when Marty played the riff to Johnny B. Goode, and Marvin Berry called his cousin Chuck Berry to tell him about this new sound.
* The Looking Glass. They are underwater.  Ship.
* Eloise is willing to detonate this bomb. Does she not realize it would destroy the island and its people completely? Plus, this thing is supposedly leaking radiation and she’s right next to it! Ass!
* Jack is trying to change things.  Sayid thought he changed things but he didn’t.  Nothing has changed for Miles.  Desmond didn’t change things and thus far Dan hasn’t changed things.
* Real world as opposed to UN-REAL WORLD.
* Jack- “Because 30 years from now she’s the one who’s gonna tell us how to get back to the Island.” Isn’t the goal for “those future events” NOT to happen after the changes made after the bomb detonation? He speaks as if those events are still going to happen.
* Are events out of time order?
* We only get the Thirty Years Later cue once.

Vocabulary and Research...

 * Follow the Leader: A children’s game. First a leader or "head of the line" is chosen, and then the children all line up behind the leader. * Logos (Greek) is an important term in philosophy, analytical psychology, rhetoric and religion. In ordinary, non-technical Greek, logos had two overlapping meanings. One meaning referred to an instance of speaking: "sentence, saying, oration"; the other meaning was the antithesis of ergon ("action" or "work"), which was commonplace. It also means the inward intention underlying the speech act: "hypothesis, thought, grounds for belief or action." It derives from the verb lego "to count, tell, say, speak".

- Three minutes can refer to the original Doomsday Clock. (3 minutes to midnight)
- In the episode Three Minutes, the Michael centric that goes back and forth from "Today" to "13 Days Ago"; "11 Days Ago"; and "3 Days Ago"
* An out-of-body experience, (OBE) is an experience that typically involves a sensation of floating outside of one's body and, in some cases, perceiving one's physical body from a place outside one's body (autoscopy). AKA such as "astral projection” or "spirit walking". In some cases the phenomenon appears to occur spontaneously; in others it is associated with a physical or mental trauma, use of psychedelic drugs, dissociative drugs, or a dream-like state. Many techniques aiming to induce the experience deliberately have been developed, for example visualization while in a relaxed, meditative state. OBEs can be induced by direct brain stimulation. Some of those who experience OBEs claimed to have willed themselves out of their bodies, while others report having found themselves being pulled from their bodies (usually preceded by a feeling of paralysis.) Heautoscopy is a term used in psychiatry and neurology for the re duplicative hallucination of "seeing one's own body at a distance".   It can occur as a symptom in schizophrenia and epilepsy.

Self discovery.  Find yourself.    Here, John sees himself and gives himself instructions.  His next stop is Jacob.   Is there a part of John that is Jacob?  A part that he needs to see metaphorically put to death so he can move on?  Or does John need to end Jacob’s life the basis for something else, maybe to help someone else move forward perhaps.
Through out this episode I felt like I was in the middle of a video arcade game and comic book combo, especially when we went through the underwater tunnels.  That screamed Tomb Raider to me.   Other moments reminded me of other games and the Indiana Jones movies. Of course this element has been there since the very beginning, especially here with the "lead" and knowing that the "leader" does indeed change plus the quest taking them through underwater tunnels, caves, temples, stations and landmarks/places.

Maybe I’m the only one holding on to the metaphor of LOST, and have been since the beginning. I’m still seeing this aspect of the story and maybe this is why I cannot grab hold of the “time travel” element as I normally would since I’m a sci-fi fan.  I think things are more simple than that; there is an explanation for the "time" skipping {being more like a glitch.}
These people are lost and suffering.  Not just in their lives but also on this "Island" adventurous journey.  Their experiences are being lived out in their consciousness, maybe combined with a bit of technology. They really are trying to find themselves, who they are and where they belong. I’m sure they will eventually find themselves and only then will things be right in their universe and they can thrive in a “real world”.

The journey to enlightenment; streams of consciousness, learn from the past, fight your demons/temptations, close some doors, open new doors, make the right choices, let things go, dive in and make a change, find a new path.  If you don’t learn and grow, create a new path to a better you, find yourself and truly know who you are and then guess what?... You’re not going anywhere.
After all the “Dharma Initiative “translates to “The start of the eightfold path”.

Love to all who are “LOST” ™

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right. The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either. You all know I hate spoilers, and I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me off my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode, we all know what they are. Understood? Good. Let the fun begin! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance. It will get very exciting as we progress into the story.

March 22, 2009

Namaste.

Let's talk about LOST! Namaste.

Night on the Ajira flight that is in route to the “Island”.

Kate, Sun, Jack, Sayid {Sleeping Ilana}, Hurley, Caesar and Ben wait for the “event” that will "deliver" them to the "Island".
The co-pilot {Drinking coffee} asks Frank, “Wanna hear something crazy? Did you see the big guy, when we got on in L.A., sitting in 1st class, curly hair, guitar case?...He’s one of the Oceanic 6. The guy’s got nerves of steel, man. He survives a full on commercial airliner crash and now he’s back flying over the same South Pacific.”
Frank- “Maybe he doesn’t believe that lightening will strike twice in the same place.”
Turbulence shakes the drowsy passengers, getting their attention. Hurley, who is prepared with eye shades, looks up.
The co-pilot asks Frank if he’s all right.
Frank’s just fine. There's another big “shake”.
The co-pilot turns on fasten seatbelt/no smoking sign.
Jack looks a little excited.
Hurley suggests to Caesar, “You might wanna fasten your seatbelt”, and then he puts on his eye shades, holds on to the guitar case and relaxes his head back.
Concerned Frank says, “Oh no.”
The plane starts to shake, jump and makes noise.
In the cabin things are falling out of the overhead storage and passengers are getting tossed around. The co-pilot turns off “Auto Pilot” while Frank has the controls. A bright light is seen in the cabin. The plane seems to pitch and roll.

Now it's daylight and Frank says, "We’ve lost power!”
The system's/automated woman’s voice says- “Stall.”
The co-pilot affirms, “Restarting 1. Restarting 2. Altimeter reading 650.”
The plane is flying through clouds....
...The clouds clear to reveal the green mountains of the “Island.”
Frank pulls on the joystick and says, “Give me more power, I can pull us out of this!”
The co-pilot feels he’s gonna rip them apart.   Frank, holding on to the joystick  tells him to just do it! They see a convenient runway ahead and attempt a landing.   They have instrument failure, “We’re putting her down.”
The co-pilot of Ajira flight 3 1 6, “Mayday. Mayday.”
{You can hear …8 15 16…}
The nervous co-pilot feels Frank's coming in too steep.
Frank brings her in, “Reverse thrusters!”
They’re running out of runway.
Frank- “Hold on. Brace for impact.”
They’re sliding into home plate and hit the jungle greens.
Frank comes to; he’s bloody and his head hurts, right arm hurt, but he’s OK . The co-pilot isn’t so lucky; a tree speared him through the chest.   Frank exits the cockpit with a flashlight.
Caesar wakes up Ilana and in her haze she says to him, “Sarah/Jarrah.”
No, his name is Caesar. Ilana sees her prisoner is gone.
Frank stumbles into first class. Ilana is off balance too.
Sun calls out to Frank and asks, “What happened?” {Really?!}
Frank doesn’t know but he notices people are missing. “Where’s everyone else? Jack, Kate and Hurley. Where’d they go?” {Doesn’t wonder about Sayid.}
Ben announces from behind him, “They’re gone.”
Frank shines the light on Ben’s chest, even though there’s enough light in the cabin.
Frank-“Gone. Gone where?”
Ben-“How would I know.”

Thirty Years Earlier:
At the blue Dharma van  Jack, Hugo, guitar case, and Kate meet up with LaFleur on the day of their return. Jack smiles, seems happy to see the glasses wearing LaFleur.
Jack realizes LaFleur and Kate are seeing each other after a long absence.  Hugo drops the guitar case, walks over to La Fleur and says, “You’re alive.”
He's very happy and gives LaFleur a tight ape hug.
LaFleur is happy too, “Easy on the ribs there, Kong.”
Hugo actually missed the nicknames he used to be called by him.
LaFleur- “Missed you too, Hugo.”
Doc shakes Sawyer’s hand.
Kate and Sawyer hug, “It’s good to see you, Kate.”
Kate-“You too, James.”
LaFleur- “You’re really here. The son of a bitch actually did it! Locke said he was gonna bring you back. But...Where is he?”
Jack tells him John’s dead.
LaFleur is surprised, “Dead. How?”
Jack- “It doesn’t matter. He’s gone.” {It doesn't matter?! Why?}
No time for grieving, Hugo asks, “So, what’s up with you guys in the ol Dharma jumpsuits?”
Jin didn’t tell the ol gang about it. Jin, in great English, “No. I was waiting for you.”
LaFleur reveals, “We’re in the Dharma Initiative.”
Jack- “They came back to the Island?”
No, Jackass!
LaFleur-“No. We came back….And so did you. It’s 1977”
They are silent for a second, then…
Hugo-“Oh…What?”
Jack tries to wrap his mind around this reveal, “You’re telling me you’ve been here living here with the Dharma Initiative for the past three years.”
LaFleur- “That’s right. How longs it been for you since the chopper?”
Kate- “Three years.” {Same time elapsed.}
A voice is heard over Jin’s radio, “Hey Jin. This is Miles. Where are you? Over.”
Jin tells LaFleur if he doesn’t report in soon, they’ll send out a patrol. “What should we do with them?”
Hugo- “Dude. You’re English is awesome.”
LaFleur says they’ll bring them back into the barracks in Dharmaville. They can’t be wandering around the jungle with the Hostiles.
Kate-”The Hostiles?”
LaFleur-“The Others.”
Hugo asks about everyone else from the plane; they could still be out there.
Jin- “What do you mean everyone else?”
Jack reveals they didn’t come back alone. “Sayid was on the plane, Lapidus, and Sun.”
Jin jumps in the Dharma jeep and speeds off to see Radzinski. After all, if a plane landed on the Island, he would know.
LaFleur yells for Jin to hold up, “We gotta think about this!”
But Jin speeds off.
La Fleur tells them to stay put. “Don’t go nowhere. Don’t do nothing until I can figure out how the hell to explain where you came from.”
Kate asks him besides him and Jin, “Who else is still here?”

Juliet, in her blue Motor Pool jumpsuit, runs down the stairs to see Miles at the security station. She asks if he’s seen James. She looks in on the monitors. Miles hasn’t heard from him, “And he isn’t answering his walkie either.”
Juliet takes the cup of coffee off the desk and tells Miles about Jin calling James this morning and he just ran off without telling her what was going on.
Miles- “Well. Let's see what we’ve got.”
He bangs on a screen. {static} Now with a clearer picture, “There he is.”

LaFleur is rummaging through his closet gathering Dharma jumpsuits and extra clothes. Juliet comes in.
He asks her if she’s seen his baggy sweatshirt, the one with the bulldog on it. It’s in the laundry. She asks James what’s going on.
He tells her they’re back.
Who?
LaFleur-“Jack, Hurley, Kate.”
Juliet- “What?” {Open your friggin ears!}
LaFleur whispers, “They came back, Juliet.”
He tells her they are here now, at the North Point, “Waitin' for me to tell em what to do.”
She seems stunned, “How did they…?”
He’s not sure, they said they were on a plane. “I don’t understand it anymore than you do. But they’re here. And I gotta find a way to bring em in before somebody else finds em and they screw up everything we got here.”
Juliet tells him a sub is coming in this afternoon.

Jin pulls up at the Flame Station. Radzinski is building a model of the Swan Hatch. {Blue prints, diagrams.} Jin storms in.
Radzinski- “Hey. You understand the concept of knocking?”
Jin checks out black and white TV monitors, presses buttons.{Muppets, News, Alka seltzer commercial}
Radzinski scolds Jin when he grabs the computer printout. “Thought you learned English.”
“Hands off! No body handles any of the gear in this station except me! Understand?”
Jin needs to check the radar logs to see if a plane landed on the Island.
Radzinski- “If a plane landed, here? What? So you think if a plane landed on our Island I’d be over there just building my model. That I wouldn’t have called any one? That I wouldn’t have put out an alert?”
Jin- “May be you missed it. Can you check with the other stations?”
Annoyed Radzinski just told him...
Jin grabs him and throws him against the wall, “Just check with the other stations.”
Radzinski sits at the control board sends out a bulletin via microphone announcement.
“Attention all stations this is a system wide broadcast from Radzinski at the Flame. Checking in to see if anyone’s seen a airplane over the Island. No one else has seen a airplane. But if you have could you call in to me please? Over.”
He asks Kwon what he’s all hot and bothered about. “Why is this plane so damn important?”
Jin-“It just is.”

Sun opens her hand revealing Jin’s wedding ring. She is standing on the beach with the rest of the Ajira passengers. {Shot of the landed intact plane.}
Ilana notices Sun looking around and asks her if she lost someone.
Sun tells her no, she was traveling alone. Frank yells out a call to the passengers, “Can I get everybody’s attention?”
Frank has them listen up, “Here’s where we’re at. The radio’s dead. So I haven’t been able to call in our situation, but that’s all right. Soon as they figure out we’re not where we’re supposed to be they’ll come looking for us. So the best thing we could do right now is stick together. Stick together, hunker down and just wait till help gets here.”
Caesar-“Where is here? What is this place?”
Frank doesn’t know where here is because this Island isn’t in his charts. Really. Caesar announces to the people, “Because there are some buildings over there and animal cages. Down the beach you can see a big Island across the water. So maybe you should get some new charts.”
Ben sits quietly listening to Caesar’s announcement and then heads out.
Right now Frank is trying to keep everyone there safe. He wants them to gather firewood.
Sun follows Ben into the jungle.
Caesar’s fired up! He tells the people if Frank wants to wait, let him! He says they should search the buildings, maybe they have a radio or food, “Who wants to help me?”
Frank follows Sun following Ben.

Sun follows sling arm Ben through the jungle; She’s lost him.
Ben, standing in the trees asks, “Why are you following me?”
Sun wonders where he’s going.
Ben tells her back to their Island of course, “You wanna come?”

Juliet quietly walks over to sleeping non Dharma jumpsuit wearing Amy. {Blue bassinet} She’s sleeping in a hammock. Juliet inadvertently wakes Amy while gingerly lifting the clipboard with the sub manifest.  She didn’t mean to wake her.   Juliet doesn’t want Amy to be working today.
Juliet- “Full load?”
Almost.
Amy tells her two of the recruits dropped out in the 11th hour. “They didn’t want to take the sedative for the trip. Can you tell Pierre for me?”
Juliet picks up the infant. Amy reveals that she and Horace decided to name the baby Ethan. Juliet gives the baby to his mama. Amy asks when Juliet and Jim are “gonna have one of these?” {1 of these?!}
Juliet doesn’t know, “The times gotta be right.”
She smiles and leaves with the manifest.

Jack taps the face of his watch 3x {No sense of time now.} as they wait for LaFleur to return.
Hugo sits alone.
Kate asks Jack if the woman who told him how to come back mentioned it would be 30 years ago. Jack tells her no, “She left that part out.”
Kate asks what their supposed to do now. Jack’s not sure yet.
Hurley announces, “Sawyer’s back!” {Indeed he is.}
Sawyer gives the three blind mice clothes, “All right. Listen. You’re all gonna be the second batch of recruits coming in off the sub pulling into port right about now so we ain't got much time.”
Sawyer notes the Doc’s suit isn’t exactly Island wear and gives him something to try instead. Jack questions how is saying they came in off the sub’s gonna work. Sawyer explains that everyone gets knocked out before the trip so no one meets each other until they process them. Jack says they need to find the rest of the people from the plane.
Sawyer- “If there was a plane, Jin will find it. So we got about 10 minutes to intake or you’re all gonna be camping in the jungle for a long time. There ain't another batch of recruits due in for six months.”
Jack asks Kate, “What do you think?”
Kate thinks they should listen to Sawyer. Hurley votes for not camping.
Sawyer removes his spectacles, “Trust me. Do what I say and you’ll be fine.”
Jacks nods “OK.”
Sawyer- “Let's move.”
They begin their change.

Jin watches the monitors {The Puppet, uh I mean Muppet show is on amongst other interesting shows.} Radzinsky just heard from the Looking Glass, they were the last to check in. They got nothing but an incoming sub. He suggests Jin go home and he’ll call him if something happens. Beeping starts. {Red light}
Radzinski hurries to the monitors, pushes Jin out of the way, “Move. Move. Outta my way.” Checking out incoming info, “Those bastards!”
Jin- “What do you see?”
Radzinski- “Grid 3 2 5. The motion sensor alarm was tripped. We got a Hostile inside the perimeter.”
Jin grabs the rifle and runs out. {Water tower 4} Radzinski comes out with his rifle, looking around.
Running through the jungle Jin comes upon someone. “Stop right there!"
It’s Sayid.
They are happy to see each other. Sayid doesn’t know where Sun is. Radzinksi pops up behind Jin and Jin goes into security mode; acting as if Sayid is a Hostile. Jin makes Sayid get down on his knees, “Say another word and your dead.”

In the passenger seat of the Dharma Van Hugo chats with Sawyer, “OK. So it’s 1977…And you guys are all members of the Dharma Initiative.”
Yep.
Hugo- “You do realize those dudes get wiped out, right?”
Sawyer gives him a look.
Hurley tells him he saw the pit where all the bodies got dumped. “Aren’t you gonna warn them? Aren’t ya gonna stop it from happening?”
Sawyer’s not there to play Nostradamus to these people, “Besides, Faraday’s got some interesting theories on what we can and can’t do here.”
Jack seems excited at the mention of Faraday, “He’s here?”
Sawyer-“Not anymore.”

“Ride Captain Ride, Upon Your Mystery Ship" by the band Blues Image. By the way, the band was formed TAMPA. Music plays at the Dharmaville celebration for the arrival of the new recruits. They even have Dharma balloons! A big blue banner welcomes recruits.
Sawyer pulls up with his three new recruits. He welcomes them with leis of shells and flowers. He shares a smile with Kate. Sawyer quietly tells them to listen up, Juliet has it worked out so their names are on the list, “So when you get in there just watch the little meet and greet video, wait for em to call your name. When they do, smile, step up take your jumpsuits and work assignments.”
Sawyer’s got their work assignments covered. He tells them to remember to act a little doped up cause they “just woke up from the sub.”
Nervous Hugo’s concerned if they start asking them questions they can’t answer “like, who’s President in 1977.” {WTF? He doesn’t know this answer?!}
Sawyer-“It’s not a damn game show, Hugo. Besides I’m gonna be in there to get your backs. All right?”
All Right. “Let's move.”
They head in to the PROCESSING CENTER.
Miles pulls up in a Dharma van asks LaFleur, "Where you been? I’ve been trying to reach you on the walki?”
He sees familiar faces and quietly mumbles, ”What the hell are they doing here?”
They’re new inductees.
Sawyer tells Miles to stop staring, he’ll explain everything later, “Tell me what your damn problem is.”
Miles tells him it’s Jin, “There’s a 14J at the Flame.”
Sawyer talks on the walkie like it’s a phone. "
Jin. You there?”
Jin-“James we have a problem. We found a Hostile.”
He was wandering in the jungle. Radzinski puts Sayid in the food pantry. LaFleur asks what’s he’s doing in our territory, it’s a violation of the truce. Jin steps outside and quietly tells LaFleur it’s Sayid. Sawyer quietly, “Son of a bitch!...Was anyone else with him?”
Jin-“No. He was alone.”

Ben and Sun continue their trek. Ben’s moving very quickly and she’s trying to keep up.
Sun-“Wait!”
Ben’s sorry, but waiting doesn’t interest him much right now. “There are three outriggers near here. I’m gonna take one. So you can come alone and help me row…” {He removes his sling. He is fine!}…”Or you can stay here.
Frankly it makes no difference to me.”
Sun- “Why are you leaving?”
Ben-“Why are you staying?”
She asks if Jin is on the main Island.
Ben-“Honestly, I don’t know. But that’s where I’d start looking.” {Honestly. Ha!} Frank still holding his flashlight calls out for Sun. Ben says hello to Frank. Frank asks Sun if she’s ok; he got worried when he could find her. {WTF? Lies! He’s been following her since the beach.} Sun’s fine, by the way.
Frank-“I saw him leaving. What are you doing out here?”
Sun reveals that Ben knows where there’s a boat and their going back to the main Island.
Frank-“You don’t think you can really trust this guy, do you?”
Ben looks deep in to her eyes. She says she has to trust him. Ben is pleased and moves on. {Watch Sun here. She seems proud of what she just pulled off.}
Ben “on a mission” seems strong. He uncovers an outrigger.
Sun’s ready.
Frank wants her to think about this, “This guy is dangerous.” He goes on to remind her the boat he “came here on was filled with commandos whose only mission was to get him.”
Ben-“And how’d that work out for everyone?”
No answer.
Frank just tells Sun not to do it. Sun asks Frank to come with them. Frank declines because he has a group of people he’s gotta look after.
Ben walks up to Frank, “That’s right Frank, a captain’s first responsibility is to his passengers. But I have people I have to take care of too. There’s a small dock about a half a mile due south across the water that leads directly to a town where I used to live. There are resources there. So if anyone can help you and the rest of the plane get out of here safely then…”
Sun knocks out Ben with an oar!
Frank-“I thought you trusted this guy.”
Sun-“I lied.”

A Dharma dude on a bike, the good Dr. {Swan logo} instructs the new Island residents to remain inside the confines of their new living quarters. The barracks are surrounded by high frequency sonar fence. Jack and Kate are watching the welcome orientation video in the processing room. Kate looks uncomfortable. The video goes on to say “You are now a member of the Dharma Initiative.”
Kate asks Jack how are they gonna do this. Phil calls out for “Jack Shephard.”
Jack takes a seat at the uniforms table.

Pierre Cheng, looking through papers, “Of course it isn’t here.”
Jacks file.
Annoyed Cheng- “How can they be any more disorganized on the other side {Of what? The glass?} Cheng apologizes and shakes Jack’s hand, “Namaste.”
Introduces himself and welcomes him to the Dharma Initiative. He asks Jack how his ride in was, and who was his shuttle driver {from the sub}.
Jack-“That was, uh, uh, ummm, it was LaFleur.”
Cheng mentions LaFleur is a good man and runs a very tight operation. Cheng also apologizes for all the disorganization. “The woman who was supposed to be processing you in had a baby last night, I get pulled out of my lab…”
He pulls out Jack’s card from the card file and gives him his job assignment/uniform. Cheng tells Jack according to his aptitude test he’ll be working in the shed. Janitorial work. This amuses Jack.
{For a second, it looks like Kate is going to walk out the door, but doesn’t}
Phil says hello to her. They haven’t called her name yet. He looks through his list of names for Kate Austen, and notices she’s not on the list or the sub manifest either.
Phil-"Who’s your recruiter?” {Uncomfortable Kate is keeping her on Jack} As Kate tried to “think”, Juliet comes in just in time with the new list for Phil.
Phil-“All righty then. She’s all yours.”
The ladies smile and Juliet apologizes for the mix up. “I’m Juliet.”
Kate introduces herself, they shake hands.
Juliet-“Hi Kate. Welcome to the Island.”

At the Flame, Jin waits for LaFluer’s arrival. Jin tells LaFleur that Sayid just came walking out of the jungle in handcuffs, alone and he didn’t say anything about the plane because he couldn’t talk to him. Radzinski thinks he’s a Hostile and he won’t leave Jin and Sayid alone. LaFleur tells Jin, “I got this.”
Inside LaFleur asks Radzinski, “Where is he?”
Radzinski locked him the storage room {food storage.} LaFleur wants the key.
Radzinski- “You need to know, LaFleur, he saw the model of the Swan. And he could’ve seen the survey of where we’re building it.”
Radzinski feels he’s a spy, “This whole thing is an act and we either play into it or we don’t. We can end this right now.”
Radzinski suggests- “We shoot him.”
LaFleur appreciates Quick Draws input but he wants to talk to him first, “Give me the damn keys.”
Jin brings Sayid out from the pantry.
Sayid’s surprised to see Sawyer. “My name’s LaFleur. I’m head of security. I want you to listen to real carefully to what I’ve got to say. And if you do that, you’ll be fine. Understand?”
Sayid nods yes.
LaFleur starts simple, “Identify yourself as a Hostile. The terms of the truce say you gotta identify yourself as a Hostile or we got the right to shoot you.”
Sayid understands where he’s going with this, “We do not refer to ourselves as Hostile but yes, I am one of them.”
Radzinski is thrilled. Good, they can proceed like a couple of gentlemen. LaFleur is taking him in to the barracks. LaFleur and Jin take Sayid. Radzinski wants to go with them, “This is a horrible mistake. I’m gonna talk directly to Horace about this.”
LaFleur-“Fine! Talk away.”

Two Islands in the moonlight:
Frank and Sun pull up to the dock. Frank wants Sun to remind him why the hell they’re doing this. Sun tells him that Ben said if her husband was on the Island, “The best place to start looking for him his here.”
Frank-“Oh I see. That’s some advice you took before you whacked him in the head."
Sun, Frank and his flashlight head on their journey. The dock has lamp posts knocked over, things are rusted and old. They hear a noise. Trees rustle and snap; the clicking noises of the smoke monster. Sun isn’t really scared.
Frank-“Tell me you saw that.”
Sun-“Probably just an animal.”
They move on.
They come upon Dharmaville. It’s old, a mess and boarded up. You can hear the swinging Processing Center sign move in the breeze. Frank is sorry to say but he “Doesn’t think we’ll find your husband here. Maybe we autta head back.”
They hear whispers and a light goes on in one of the houses. The front door with Dharma sign on it opens. There stands Christian, “Hello.”
Frank- “Who the hell are you?”
“My name’s Christian.”
Sun tells him she’s looking for her husband, “His name is Jin Kwon. Do you know where he is?”
Christian- “Follow me.”
The door opens, the light of the flashlight and Christian guide them in to the Processing Center. Sun- “What is this place?”
Christian shines the light on photos hanging on the wall, “72. 76. 78. Ah, here we go. 77.”
He takes the class {recruits} picture off the wall and tells Sun her husband is with her friends.
Sun-“What are you talking about? What friends?”
He just smiles. The door creaks open and a smoky mist enters. Christian shows her the photo. {Hugo looks so sad}
Christian-“I’m sorry but you have a bit of a journey ahead of you.” {It looks like there is a person hiding in the corner}

(click to enlarge)
“Ok. Are you ready? Everybody say, Namaste.”   The photographer snaps the New Dharma Recruits class photo.
Hugo asks Kate, “Nam-a-what?”
Dharma Lady tune plays in the background.
Phil tells them they "have the day off to get acquainted with their security protocol handbooks waiting in their new digs. Some of it may seem a little scary, but he assures them they “are perfectly safe here.”
Phil tells them to make themselves at home. They have hamburgers and punch. LaFleur radios Phil to tell him he’s coming in with a 14J.
Phil- “Roger that, Mr. La Fleur.”
Jack watches Phil and the situation. Phil gets the party crowd to “hold back. We have a minor security situation. They escort Sayid. Overzealous Radzinski shoves Sayid, “Move!”
Kate looks nervous.
Hugo- “I guess we found Sayid.”

Heading down stairs bathed in red-orange color, Sayid is led through the security monitor room, through double doors into a cell.
LaFleur tells Sayid he gets to hang out there until they can figure out what to do with him.
Phil asks-“What are we gonna do with him?”
LaFleur-“Bring the man some damn food. We’re not savages.”
LaFleur shuts the cell door, and gives Sayid the “eyes”, {Letting him know it will be OK/I got his back.}
Sayid doesn’t say a word.

Night:
Jack stops Phil outside the barracks and asks where he “James LaFleur lives.”
Phil points out his house but advises Jack not to call him James; he hates it. {Did Phil pick up on something here?}
Jack knocks on the door 4x and Juliet answers. Jack’s a bit stunned. They hug hello. He wanted to say hello to her earlier when he saw her helping Kate.
Juliet-“We’re not supposed to know each other.”
Jack-“I was looking for Sawyer. I guess I came to the wrong house.”
Nope, it's the right house.
Sawyer is reading a book, “Evening Doc.”
Jack smiles; he seems a bit amazed at it all. Juliet gives them time to talk. Sawyer tells Jack to take a load off and offers him a beer but Jack declines the beer.
Sawyer-“What can I do for ya, Jack?”
Jack doesn’t know where to start, “How bout Sayid.”
Sawyer-“I had no choice. He was running around the jungle, got caught by my people. Seein' as how he can’t tell the truth about how he got here I had to improvise.”
Jack-“Improvise.”
Yep.
Sawyer tells him for now Sayid is safe, which is all that matters. Sawyer sips his beer.
Jack wonders, “So where do we go from here?”
Sawyer’s working on it.
Jack-“Really. Cause it looked to me like you were reading a book.” {Silly Jack!}
Sawyer tells Jack he heard once how Winston Churchill read a book every night, even during the Blitz, “Said it made him think better. That’s how I like to run things. I think. I’m sure that doesn’t mean that much to you cause back when you were callin' the shots you pretty much just reacted. See, you didn’t think, Jack. And as I recall a lot of people ended up dead.”
Cocky Jack replies, “I got us off the Island.”
Sawyer-“But here you are, right back where you started. {Literally! Jack started over in the same starting position as the other time.} So I’m gonna go back to readin' my book, and I'm gonna think. Cause that’s how I saved your ass today and that’s how I’m gonna save Sayid’s tomorrow. All you gotta do is go home and get a good night's rest. Let me do what I do.”
Sawyer leads him to the door, opens it and Jack steps outside.
Sawyer-"Now ain’t that a relief?”
Jack-”Yeah.”
Pissed off in control Sawyer practically burns a whole into Jack with his eyes. He follows Jack out the door. Sawyer sees Kate {Half in her Dharma jumpsuit-half out of it} gives her a little wave. He feels for her. She gives a little wave back.

At the dark security station a young boy tells Phil he’d just gonna go in there “and deliver him a sandwich.”
The young boy in glasses enters the cell area and closes the door. He says hello to Sayid. {Sayid was laying down. Eyes closed} The kid holds the bag through the bars, “I brought you a sandwich.”
Cuffed Sayid takes the bag. The kid didn’t put mustard on it, “But if you’d like some, I could get some.”
Sayid-“This will be fine. Thank you.”
The kid asks, “Are you a Hostile?”
Sayid-“Do you think I am?”  {Does he?}
The kid-“What’s your name?” {The red light from camera blinks behind him}
Sayid-“Sayid. What’s yours?”
The kid-“I’m Ben.”
Sayid-“It’s nice to meet you Ben.”

* Lyrics- “Ride Captain Ride”
Seventy-three men sailed up from the San Francisco Bay
Rolled off of their ship, and here's what they had to say
We're callin' everyone to ride along to another shore
We can laugh our lives away and be free once more
But no one heard them callin', no one came at all
Cause they were too busy watchin' those old raindrops fall
As a storm was blowin' out on the peaceful sea
Seventy-three men sailed off to history
Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip
Ride captain ride upon your mystery ship
On your way to a world that others might have missed
Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip.

Metaphorically, in all this chaos we still seeing people on a journey of self discovery; finding yourself and finding and feeling unconditional love.  With this layer of the story {of which there are many} we still have hints to thinking, learning, growth, journey, moving forward, testing, etc.. And we also see people having to start back from where they started from.   Here we know Jack has had to go back to the same starting position at least twice.   Kind of like when you play a video game and you have to start a level all over again.

So, let's stick to the episode at hand. A little reminder of the teachings of human growth and enlightenment.
Aids to thinking:
1. Use of models, symbols, diagrams and pictures.
2. Use of abstraction to simplify the effort of thinking.
3. Use of metasyntactic variables to simplify the effort of naming.
4. Use of iteration and recursion to converge on a concept.
5. Limitation of attention to aid concentration and focus on a concept. Use of peace and quiet to aid concentration.
6. Goal setting and goal revision. Simply letting the concept percolate in the subconscious, and waiting for the concept to re-surface.
7. Talking with like-minded people. Resorting to communication with others.
8. Working backward from the goal.
9. Desire for learning.
Pitfalls: 1. Prejudice can lead to flawed thinking 2. Self-delusions: inability to confront relevant issues {roadblocks}.

Dharma or Concepts. Four Noble Truths. Noble Eightfold Path. Three marks of existence. Dependent Origination. Samsara. Nirvana. Skandha. Cosmology. Karma. Rebirth.

I still feel a major war game element here.  How is it tying into the other elements I note?  Are things done with computers, programming and drugs, while they are sleeping or unconscious, in an altered state?  It's possible things are affecting their brainwaves or consciousness.  Is what we are seeing strictly a game or is it a journey of growth and enlightenment experienced under the guise of a game or some other experiments or exercise?

A little flashback to share with you is the video that Sayid watches with Inman in “One of Them”.  On the top of the screen it says EYES ONLY-TOP SECRET, then it has property of DIA...Then, REEL 23108-42.

Just as I’ve suggested in the past...Always been part of Dharma and Dharma part of them...at least here on this "Island".
If “Time Travel” is happening, then it was always happening. And if what ever happened, happened, then this already happened.  The new recruits in the photo would mean they were there. But really...what the hell do I know?

Keep this in mind...Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid literally Enter 7 7.   Remember Locke is the one that enters the 7 7 command in the computer.

Love to all who are “LOST” ™

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right! The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either! You all know I hate spoilers! And I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me off my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode; we all know what they are. Understood? Let the fun begin! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance.

Enter Seven Seven.

Let's talk about LOST!   Enter  7  7.

Sawyer walks the beach camp and talks to the Lostie’s who are moving a Ping Pong table. Hurley tells him Jin found it when he was out looking for firewood. They made legs and paddles for it and all they need now is a ball.
Sawyer-"Found it?"
Hurley-"It must have landed in the jungle when the hatch exploded."
Sawyer- "I thought the hatch collapsed." {What, not imploded?!  COME ON!}
All Hurley knows is the sky turned purple; after that he "don't ask questions. I just make myself a salad and move on."
Sawyer can see "That's working for ya."   Sawyer asks him if he's seen Kate.
Hurley-"She's not back yet? Hmm."
Hurley asks around to see if there's anything they can use for a ball.
Sawyer sees Paulo walking with the Guns and Ammo magazine that belongs to him. {Word ammo is shown in Paulo hand.}
Paulo says it was in the magazine stack, "We share things now." {Implying a different time, perhaps? Or Sawyer was gone so long they got to change the rules?}
Sawyer calls Paulo, Zorro. Sawyer knows it was in his stuff, “Stuff you all decided to have yourselves a little party with while you thought I was dead." {But clearly is not dead}
Paulo tells him if he wants it that bad, then take it. The magazine is wrapped and hiding toilet paper. Sawyer tells him to keep it.

Sayid, Kate, Locke and Danielle are on their trek. Sayid informs them they need to eat. Locke asks him if they're still on course.
Sayid checks the trusty compass, "We're still heading North on a bearing of 3 0 5. Yes."
Locke is sensing a lack of confidence.
Sayid-"We've been walking for two days following a compass bearing provided by the carvings on a stick."
Sayid questions him about chancing on where the Others are. {Eyes}
Locke-"My bearing is the only bearing we've got. {His bearing!? It is Eko's bearing!}
Sayid is going to find some fruit, "Then we're going to have a rational conversation regarding our next move."
While Sayid picks fruit he hears clanking and comes upon a cow, (Bell and all), grazing.    A person whistles, calling the cow.  Sayid follows the cow to a little blue farmhouse with a satellite dish on top and a pen containing cows; there is a horse too.   The man with the eye patch is there.

Nikki and Sun tie up the net for the Ping Pong table.
Sawyer asks them if "Looking for something like this?" {Yellow cat ball}
Hurley's excited because now they get to play.
Sawyer-"Ah-ah-ah. We need to do a little quid pro quo first. I know I've been gone a while, you all thought the general store was having a going out of business sale. But now I'm back and I want what's mine."
Nikki says it wasn't really yours to begin with.
Sawyer-" 'A', it was mine when I took it. 'B', who the hell are you? And 'C', because I'm fair, I'm going to let you play me for it."
Hurley-"Play Ping Pong?"
Sawyer calls him Avalanche and tells them to put up their best player; one game. And when he crushes them they all have to bring him back every piece of his stash. He aint gonna lose. If he does, he tells them to 'name it'. Sun and Jin converse in Korean. Sawyer thinks Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon got something good. {I guess Sun isn't going to only speak to Jin in Korean like she said in Tricia Tanaka is Dead.}
Sun comes up with, "No nicknames for anyone for a week."
Sawyer agrees. He wants them to pick their player, he'll be back in an hour, “Then let the slaughter begin."

Sayid is looking through binoculars at the little farmhouse. {We can see Speakers.}
Locke-"Are you sure it's completely isolated?"
Sayid has circled the house there's nothing but jungles surrounding it.
Locke checks out the satellite dish, "That dish still work?"
Sayid comments that a satellite dish of that size would have broadcasting capabilities of thousands of miles. He asks Danielle "You once mentioned a radio tower. Is this it?"
She says she's "never been here before."
Kate to Sayid, "The man in the house, you said you've seen him before."
Sayid- "On a video feed from the Pearl Station." They wonder who he is; there's only one way to find out. Sayid gives Kate his rifle and unarmed he will go visit the man; they will cover him from there.
Danielle decides to leave, "I have no interest in that man inside the house. I have survived on the Island precisely by avoiding these types of encounters. I'll wait for you by the stream, for those of you who survive."

Vegetables are being cut up while Arabic music plays. This is Najeev; a cook in a restaurant. Another man tells him in Arabic that there's a man outside who wants to speak to him. {Pic of some sort sea serpent on the wall.} He exits the kitchen and heads outside to the dining courtyard to meet the man.
They are in an Arabic restaurant in Paris.
The man/Sami asks him if he "cooked this?"
Najeev says yes. Sami compliments him and asks him where he's from. Najeev says he's Syrian. Sami calls him out on this.
Sami, in their native language tells him, "You are as much of an Iraqi as I am, young man."
Suspicious Najeev asks what he wants.  Sami thinks he's an excellent cook and offers him employ at his restaurant; at 2 times the pay.
Najeev questions the motive, "You're offering a stranger a job because of a single meal?"
Sami tells him he's offering it "because we are outsiders here." And because his chef just quit. {Yeah.}

Sayid, with both his hands up in 'look, I'm un-armed' {or 'surrender'} approaches the house.  Locke and Kate are armed and ready.  Sayid sees that the horse is saddled; He also notes a gray cat. {Red barrels.} He stops and looks at the cat, then one shot fired at Sayid; he's down.
Kate wants to run to his rescue but Locke stops her, "Not yet! Do you want to get shot too?"
Patch fired his rifle from a window.
He yells, "I didn't cross the line! We had a truce. This is my land. You said I can stay here."
Sayid-"No. I am not who you think I am! My name is Sayid Jarrah. I was on a plane that crashed here months ago...I'm unarmed. I swear!"   {There are 7 +2 horseshoes hanging on the wall outside. Faded red large urn/vessel.}
Patch comes come out and there's a shootout!
Locke tells him to "Drop the rifle! Drop it right now!...Back up. Back up."
Patch is wearing a Dharma jumpsuit with a Flame logo patch on it. He asks if they really crashed here.
Sayid confirms over 40 of us did. Locke heads inside first to make sure it's okay.
Kate-"Who are you?"
Patch-"My name is Mikhail Bakunin. And I am the last living member if the Dharma Initiative."
They enter through double doors. {Red everywhere. Red glow is a nice touch.}
Mikhail has experience treating gunshot wounds. He spent some time in Afghanistan; and he has experience with field medicine in the Soviet Army.   He asks Kate to bring the medical kit from the kitchen.
Kate looks at Sayid for approval; he tells her it's alright. {Lantern and candles on the coffee table} Mikhail takes a bottle of Dharma Swan vodka from a table {Note two Dharma Merlot bottles.}
Sayid asks him how she got there.
Mikhail doesn't know where to begin. Said tells him to begin with the Dharma Initiative.
Mikhail-"I grew up in Kiev and joined the Soviet Army. I was stationed at a listening post in Vladivostok. {In the meantime Locke is looking around the place. Lamps are lit all over. Kate is looking around the kitchen. Dharma food everywhere. Jars.}  After the cold war, after we lost the cold war, my unit was decommissioned. I was dismissed from my life in the military. And after years of conducting unpleasant actions against our enemies, {Locke finds the type written pages} I found myself wanting to do something good. So I replied to a newspaper advertisement, 'Would you like to save the world?' it read. That's how I met them. The Initiative {Kate open refrigerator -meat.} Very secretive. Very rich. And very smart."
He goes on to tell Sayid he came to the Island "11 years now. I liked computers, communications equipment, and being alone, like a lighthouse keeper. So they put me in this station. They called it the Flame. {Locke finds the computer equipment, parts, mother boards, etc.} He tells Sayid the purpose of the Flame is to communicate with the outside world {Of course! As if Sayid should know that.}

Locke comes across the computer with the chess game; a computer voice, READY TO PLAY? Y/N in a red box.
Locke notes a camera's blinking red light, watching him. He presses Y; he's ready to play!
The computer shows it's his move.
Sayid asks Mikhail what happened to the Dharma Initiative.
Mikhail- "They're all dead, of course. They foolishly initiated a war against the Hostiles. A purge, they called it."
He survived by not participating in it. {He sterilized his instrument.}
Sayid-"And the Hostiles allowed you to stay here?"
Mikhail continues his story- "After it was over four men appeared in the yard. They offered a truce. They said to imagine a line that extended all the way around the valley. As long as I did not cross it, I would be left alone. Then they took two cows and I never saw them again." {He puts on his glasses for his 1 eye}
Kate wonders why they weren't interested in the satellite dish in the yard. Mikhail says it hasn't functioned for years. Sayid asks who the Hostiles are. Mikhail doesn't know, "But they were here for a long time before we were. A very long time." {Pulls out the bullet he put into Sayid.}

Najeev walks down the street in Paris to the restaurant. {Another Arabic restaurant.} He meets Sami. Sami introduces Najeev to his wife who is in charge of the kitchen; her name is Amira. {A mirror. Clever! lol}
They shake hands. Amira's hands are badly scarred. Sami asks her if she's sure this is him. She says yes.
Najeev-"Look. I don't know who you think I am."
Then there's a fight and Sami kicks Najeev in the face/head, knocks him out.

The bloody bullet is removed and Sayid is stitched up. Mikhail scolds the cat in Russian; it’s pulling at the thread/yarn of the rug. He calls the cat Nadia. "I told Nadia to be polite because you are my guests." He says he named the cat Nadia, after Nadia Comaneci; the greatest Athlete the worlds ever known. They have the same birthday.  He finishes work on Sayid, speaks some Russian and offers them iced tea. Patch will check on their friend.

Locke is playing computer chess. He pushes X H 3 on the keyboard. CHECKMATE YOU LOSE.

Mikhail opens the door and tells Locke, "Ha. Don't waste your time. For 10 years I've tried to defeat that game. It was programmed by three Grand Masters. And it cheats."
Locke-"Hmm. Well I've played a lot of computers and I'm pretty sure they don't know how to cheat. That's what makes being human so distinctly wonderful."
The Computer indicates-“YOUR MOVE.”

Kate bandages up Sayid.
Mikhail heads into the kitchen.
Kate tells Sayid her concern, "It doesn't make any sense. Why would they let him stay here?" With all the stuff/equipment.
Sayid feels it makes perfect sense. The reason they let him stay there is because he is not Dharma, "He is one of them."
Kate-"He shot you and you just let him? Why are we still sitting here?"
Sayid tells her they are still sitting because he's certain 'he' is not alone.

Sawyer plays their one draft pick, Hurley. Are they playing with a mercy rule? If Hurley is up 11-0 then he automatically wins. "Either one of us."
Hurley asks Sawyer, “Do you want to volley for serve?"
Sawyer tells him to be his guest. Right away 1-0, Hurley.

Mikhail serves the iced tea off a silver platter; He grows the tea himself.
Sayid feels "Any tea is good tea."
It's been a long time since they've seen ice. {Mikhail can make ice cubes but not wash that disgusting jumpsuit? What is wrong with this picture?!}
Sayid asks about the series of thick wires as he walked around the station.
Mikhail-"This is the hub. But they go underground to various stations around the island."
He also admits that there are cables that go into the Ocean, "There is an underwater beacon that emits sonar pings to help guide in the vessels."
Sayid asks if he means submarines.
Mikhail says yes; The Initiative used one to bring them there. He imagines the Hostiles have either destroyed or commandeered it by now.
Sayid tells Kate, "That explains how they were able to get around my position and capture our sailboat."
Mikhail is surprised about their sailboat.
Sayid-"Until we lost it to your Hostiles."
Sayid shares that at least they were able to kill one of them.
Mikhail stops to ask outright, "Why are we continuing to playing this little game? When we all know it has moved to the next stage." {That means FIGHT! And SO MUCH MORE!}
Then Kate is there with the gun on Mikhail, then she kicks him in the face knocking him out.
Locke opens the door to see.
Sayid-"Get some rope."

Sayid is chained up, being held prisoner in the kitchen. He wakes up. The door opens; it's Sami with a black bag. He also brings Sayid a silver bowl with water.
Sami- "You were a torturer in the Republican Guard."
He goes on to question him about recognizing people he tortured. Does he recognize one of his victims; His wife?
Sayid says NO! Sami has confused him with someone else. Sami tells him Amira was arrested for harboring an enemy of the state. She was held for three months for questioning; her arms bear the scars of those questions, "So I assure you Najeev, I am not confused."
He says his name is not Najeev, “I'm Sayid Jarrah. I was in the Republican Guard and yes I was an interrogator... but I have never seen your wife."
He goes on to say maybe she saw him at the same facility.   Sayid says does not know her; he remembers every face of everyone he's interrogated.
Sami says Amira remembers your face, "She remembers it so well that she recognized it from a mere glimpse when we walked by the restaurant where you worked!"
Sayid shakes his head no. Sami wants him to admit what he did, and if he doesn't he will leave the room in that bag.

Kate, Locke and Sayid tie up knocked out Mikhail. Sayid informs them the horse outside is still saddled; the stirrups are set up for someone much shorter than Mikhail, proving someone else is there with him. Sayid says they sent someone out here to Mikhail because they lost communications.
Locke suggests, "Maybe when the sky turned purple."
That would also be Sayid's guess.
Locke says they must be hiding pretty good, as he checked every nook and cranny of this place.
Sayid pulls back the rug to reveal a hidden door/hatch,
"Not every nook and cranny, John." {I suddenly want an English muffin!}

Sayid is chained in the kitchen. Amira is escorted in by Sami. Sami asks if he's ready to tell the truth. He beats Sayid. Sayid swears he doesn't know her as he would never torture a woman.   Sayid won't confess to something he didn't do. Sami shares with him his wife confessed to something she didn't do, "When you poured a pan of boiling oil over her arms."
Sami beats him.
Amira stops the beating.

Kate and Sayid head down the trap door.

The chess game beckons Locke "YOUR MOVE".
Kate and Sayid see that the area is wired with C4.

Locke chooses to leave Mikhail and play some more.
Sayid enter another area where there are file boxes, binders-Food drops, Operations manuals.

Locke plays chess. CHECKMATE. YOU WIN! He's happy!

Then the computer shows...Manual over ride achieved. (On the screen is Marvin Candle with a fake left arm. Coffee cup, Dharma binders and files/file boxes.) He's instructing person/computer commands for Video: For pallet drop- enter 2-4. For station Uplink-enter 3-2. For mainland communication- enter 3-8. Locke seems overwhelmed. Locke pushes 3-8!
Candle-"The satellite dish is inoperable. Communications are down. For sonar access, enter 5-6. Locke pushes 5-6. Candle says Sonar is inoperable. Has there been an incursion on this station by the Hostiles? If so, enter 7-7."
Locke is about to push 7 7 and gets a knife put to his neck by Mikhail. He tells Locke, "Keep your voice low and your hands in front of you."

Kate holding her lantern comes upon the rack of Dharma jumpsuits.

She gets attacked and there is a FIGHT!
Sayid pulls the rifle on the attacker, it's Miss Klugh.
Kate recognizes her and punches her. " It's her!" she tells Sayid; she was there at the dock and she knows where Jack is. Sayid asks her if there are any more of them here.
Sayid yells, "John, we're coming up!"
Outside of the house Mikhail is holding a gun to John. Sayid and Kate walk their prisoner outside.
Mikhail deals-"This is simple. Send her over to me and I will release him. Then we all go our separate ways."
Locke tells them not to listen to him, If he wanted him dead he would have killed him already, "Do not let her go!"
Mikhail threatens to execute him. There is bickering!
Lock-"I'm the only thing keeping him alive.”    {OMG!!WHAT?!!!!!!}
Klugh and Mikhail converse in Russian.
John-"Don't let her talk to him!"
There's more bickering!!
Klugh-"Just do it Mikhail!"
So Mikhail shoots her. There is struggle for the gun and a fight. Sayid has the gun on Mikhail. Mikhail wants Sayid to finish it, "Kill me."
Nope!
Sawyer sits on his broken seat fixing a pair of glasses. Hurley beat him in their game. Sawyer feels hustled.
Hurley shares that "My mom had a table in her basement. I played a lot at the instit… this place I hung out for a while. I got kinda good."
Hurley continues, "It doesn't look like that last slam caused any long term damage to your forehead. And you got three points, better than zero."
Hurley returns three of his porn magazines, cause Sawyer's the kind of guy that needs stuff. Sawyer wonders if he's a shrink now. Hurley knows he's worried about Kate, "She'll be okay, dude."
Sawyer thanks him for the pep talk; just about calls him a nickname...Hurley, “It’s Hurley or Hugo, if you want."
Sawyer-"Get bent, Hugo."

Locke looks at the computer screen.
Kate grabs a box of Marshall Bullets and asks, "Are you ready to go Locke?"
He'll be there in a minute.
Locke watches the video feed.
Candle:"Has there been an incursion by the Hostiles? If so, Enter 7 7"

Now it is dark outside. Sayid is with a tied up Mikhail; he is calling for Danielle. {Watch Mikhail's face as Sayid calls out for Danielle. Wow!}
Sayid asks Mikhail if he ever was a member of the Dharma Initiative or was everything he said a lie. Mikhail tells him he was never a member, but everything else he told him was true; he tells him he moved into that Station after the Purge.
Sayid-"The purge. In which a group of scientist attacked your people."
Mikhail tells him to believe whatever he wants, but that's what happened.
Danielle comes up the rear with her gun pointed at Mikhail's back. She asked if he killed Sayid's friends. Sayid tells her no; they are collecting whatever maybe useful from the farmhouse, "And now we have our ticket to where the others live. Where we'll find your daughter and Jack. And finally perhaps, a way home."
{Again, when Danielle speaks from behind Mikhail, watch his face!}
Mikhail-“There is nothing you can do to me that would make me lead you there.”
Sayid-"I didn't say you were our ticket, Did I?"
Sayid takes out a map shows it to Mikhail. It shows electrical and data cabling running from the Flame to a place called the Barracks. We learn it's comprised of houses and dormitories with water and power large enough to accommodate an entire community. Sayid wants to visit this place.
Mikhail threatens, "There will come a time when your guard is down. And when it is I will not hesitate a moment before killing you. You should know this before..."
Danielle conveniently cuts off Mikhail in mid sentence! She tells Sayid he's making an excellent point, "You have a map. Why keep him alive?"
Mikhail smiles.

Sayid is chained to the kitchen. {He is on the ground with his silver bowl, looking very animal-like.}
Amira comes in with her gray cat. She tells Sayid the story of when she and hubby first arrived to Paris and she was afraid to leave her apartment.  She would stare out the window into the alley. She goes on to say how children trapped the cat in a box and how she rescued the cat from bad children who were lighting firecrackers and drop them in the box.  She heard the cat howl from three stories up.  Amira now had a reason to leave the apartment; she brought the cat home. The cat sits, sleeps, purrs with her.  Everyone once in a while the cat will bite or scratch her because he forgets that he is safe now. She forgives him for this. She knows what it's like to never feel safe. What she wants from Sayid "acknowledging what you did to me. That is was you who questioned me. That tortured me. That you remember me."
Sayid straightens up and proclaims, "I remember you. I remember your face. Your face has haunted me ever since I left Iraq. {He cries} I am sorry. I am so sorry for what I did to you."
They both cry and Amira forgives him. When her husband returns she will tell him that she made a terrible mistake; that it was not him and he will release him. Sayid asks her why she's letting him go. Amira tells him that we are all capable of doing what the children did to the cat. But she will not do that; she will not be that.

Danielle tells Sayid they should kill Mikhail because he will kill them.
Sayid- "No. He is my prisoner. I will decide his fate.”
Kate and Locke join them. Locke tells them he just played the chess game again.
He turns to Mikhail and says, "And now I realize why you didn't want me to beat it."
Sayid-"Meaning what?"
BOOM! The farm house blows up!
Locke looks surprised.
Sayid- "What have you done John? That place was our only hope of communication with the outside world."
John tells him that the computer said if there was an incursion by the Hostiles, I should enter 7 7. So I entered 7 7.
Sayid said they should go as the explosion may attract attention.
As they are walking away from the Flame Sayid sees the gray cat.

ENTER 7 7 is a friggin' GREAT AND IMPORTANT EPISODE!

I have to start with something I find REALLY BIG. You’re all going to call me crazy, but...Opening with Sawyer! He looks like he walked right out of the Flash for Every Man for Himself"!! Did he? His hair is long, top pony tail, blue button down shirt, scruffy. It's not exact. But very similar!    Of course he's missing the prisoner number on his shirt.  So that makes me ask...Why would this be, hmmm???  I just find the whole 'I just walked right out of my prison flash' look, fucking AMAZING!!!!! He had the same hair style in Exodus. I've said this before and I'll say it again... Events are blurred together.

The next big thing is LOCKE!  Is he a "Grand Master" or creator of a game?  I can't help but feel not only the game element here but also the literal "connection" to computers.

Things to Note...Questions to ask...
♜ They are all in a living, breathing, moving Chess game. Games. Computers are involved.   Have I been watching a frickin' video game play out?
♜ Nadia, the cat and the girlfriend- The world’s greatest athlete, Comaneci was born November 12, 1961. She won five gold medals in 1976, in Canada. The Russian name Nadia means Hope.
♜ The cat:  An image-prop to trigger an action? The cat's are eerily the same. Hint to people looking similar, yet are different? Or are they really the same?
♜ Mikhail:  What's the real story? How long is he really there? How old is he? He may be just a "bit" player.
♜ Three verbal different versions of the hatch incident:  Imploded, Exploded, Collapsed.
♜ Again, someone is surprised about the sailboat!
♜  Eye patches remind me of pirates.
♜  Ping Pong- The action of the ball being hit back and forth. Over and Over.

♜  Cheat is a loophole.
♜ Grandmasters. {Perhaps we saw them in this episode.} Games.
♜  Where's the beef? There must be livestock somewhere to have all that meat! Mikhail aint eatin boar! Maybe he's not eating at all. Or livestock as in...?
♜  Stations and Hatches with more access to go even further under/underground/underneath.
♜  Clue to the possibility of "A. B. C."
♜  I'm noting a few new clue words lately- ice, avalanche, cold. This raises new questions for me.
♜  Is Locke a Grand Master? After all, he beat the computer game.
♜  Locke enters 7 7 with the prompt of a Hostile incursion. Why? Who is the Hostile?
♜  In Star Wars there is an event called Great Jedi Purge WooooHooo!
♜  A group of scientist attacked Mikhail's people.  Is that an answer to the Hostile question? Because Mikhail said to Sayid he didn't know who the Hostiles were. It was Sayid who says "group of scientists"
♜"...with the outside world."   Telling us they are "inside"something.
♜ EYES- Again, why the eye color changes?   Now that I've gotten this far with the whole eye thing, we need to investigate a pattern (If any) on eye changes. Or point blank clue to look alike/replica, altered state of consciousness?
♜  Are we being clued in to the possibility that there are people who look the same, but are different?!  If so, how are they being separated from each other?  Are they on different "Islands"? If there are look a likes, it would be very easy to mistake someone for the other someone.   Maybe that wasn't really Miss. Klugh either. Maybe the images of certain people are cloned to fill in certain roles.
♜  When is the "Flash" from?   Sayid spends time in Paris, France and cannot understand Danielle's 16 year loop recording? Come on!!

Vocabulary and Research...

♦ Mikhail Alexandrovich Bakunin-was a well-known Russian revolutionary. He studied philosophy and frequented radical circles. Bakunin's political beliefs rejected governing systems in every name and shape, from the idea of God downwards, and every form of external authority. He wrote seminal work such as Statism and Anarchy and God and the State.
♦ Chess: is a recreational and competitive game played between 2 players. The tradition of organized competitive chess started in the 16th century.  One of the goals of early computer scientists was to create a chess-playing machine, and today's chess is deeply influenced by the abilities of current chess programs and by the possibility to play online. Chess is played on a square board of 8 rows (called ranks and denoted with numbers 1 to 8) and 8 columns (called files and denoted with letters a to h) of squares. The colors of the 64 squares alternate and are referred to as "light squares" and "dark squares". The chessboard is placed with the light squares at the players' right, and the pieces are set out as shown in the diagram, with each queen on its own color. The pieces are divided, by convention, into White and Black sets. Each player, referred to by the color of his pieces, begins the game with 16 pieces: these comprise one king, one queen, 2 rooks, 2 bishops, 2 knights and 8 pawns. White moves first. The colors are chosen either by a friendly agreement, by a game of chance or by a tournament director. The players alternate moving one piece at a time (with the exception of castling, when 2 pieces are moved simultaneously). Pieces are moved to either an unoccupied square, or one occupied by an opponent's piece, capturing it and removing it from play. With one exception (en passant), all pieces capture opponent's pieces by moving to the square that the opponent's piece occupies. Chess games do not have to end in checkmate — either player may resign if the situation looks hopeless. Besides casual games without exact timing, chess is also played with a time control, mostly by club and professional players. If a player's time runs out before the game is completed, he automatically loses. Games also may end in a draw (tie).
♦ HUB- The center of a wheel, normally incorporating a bearing.
 - Connecting computers.
♦  SEVEN-
 - The code for international direct dial phone calls to Russia and Kazakhstan.
 - "The Magical Number Seven, Plus or Minus Two: Some Limits on Our Capacity for Processing Information" is a 1956 paper by the cognitive psychologist George A. Miller. In it Miller showed a number of remarkable coincidences between the channel capacity of a number of human cognitive and perceptual tasks. Working memory is generally considered to have limited capacity. Example- In the novel Watership Down the rabbit characters use the word hrair to refer to any number too large to count. For rabbits, this is any number greater than four, whereas, for humans,hrair would be greater than 7 plus or minus 2.
In organization theory the limit has a similar meaning: the maximum number of projects that one can be involved in simultaneously before chaos starts to ensue.
- In The Dark Tower series by Stephen King there are 7 books.
- 7 Sages.
- 7 wonders of the ancient world.
- The legend of the Seven Sleepers of Ephesus tells of the falling asleep of seven young men in a cave, who wake up after a great deal of time has passed.

Synonyms-abolition, catharsis, clarification, cleaning, clean up, coup, wash.

The Flame is known as the Hub, so this must mean it is this the center of the blast door map; the "?"?

Sayid seems to have looked into "Amira" {a mirror}.  Has he faced the truth about something that has haunted him or something that motivates him?
"Because he forgets that he is safe now..." Is it possible that they have forgotten they are safe now? Shouldn't they feel safe being home?!

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right! The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either! You all know I hate spoilers! And I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me off my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode, we all know what they are. Understood? Good! Let the fun begin!I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance! It will get very exciting as we progress into the story.
