The Candidate

Let's talk about LOST!   The Candidate.
Dr. Jack Shephard wakes up Mr. Locke from his surgery.   Locke's eyes slowly open to blurry vision and then clarity.
Jack-"Mr. Locke, can you hear me? {Jack smiles} Welcome back."
Locke, who is on oxygen, realizes he knows him. Jack replays them being on the same flight from Sydney and how Locke lost his knives.  He explains to Locke that he was rundown by a car and just came out of surgery {Dural sac ruptured) but he thinks he got everything back where it belongs.  Jack uses his penlight to look at Locke's pupils and also reveals that while was operating he got a look at the initial injury to his spine and put him in a wheelchair.  Jack was hoping Locke could tell him how that happened because he feels he's a candidate for a new surgical procedure they're developing and if it works it could restore feeling to his legs, in fact he may even walk again. Jack seems pleased.
Jack-"If you'll give me a shot, Mr. Locke, I think that, that I can fix you."
Locke thinks about it for a few seconds and declines the offer. This response stuns the good doctor and he goes on to explain that there's minimal risk and the benefit...Locke cuts him off, "I said no." {He smiles.}
Helen barges into the room relieved to see John. This is the first time they let her see him. Indeed they are relieved to see each other. Very happy Helen thanks Dr. Shephard for saving him. {She kisses Jack on the cheek and hugs him tight} Locke smiles at this.
{Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
Jack opens his eyes/wakes up. He is in the outrigger.
Kneeling Sayid {working on a gun} welcomes him to Hydra Island. Jack is a bit confused.
Sayid-"At least you didn't have to paddle."

Over at the cages the Widmore team is setting up the pylons. Seamus and goons lead James, Frank, Hugo, Claire, Kate, Sun and Jin. Seamus demands James get in the cage but James there's no way he's going back in there, so he grabs dough boys rifle and a shot rings out a few feet away indicating Widmore's arrival. Widmore threatens Kate's life if James doesn't drop the gun. James feels Widmore isn't going to kill them because he's throwing them in the cages.
Widmore-"I have a list of names. Ford. You're on it. As are Reyes and the Kwon's. Kate Austen she's not.  It doesn't matter to me if she lives or dies."
Nervous Kate doesn't want James to listen to Widmore. James relinquishes the gun to Seamus and in return Seamus hits James with the rifle and throws him in the cage.
Widmore tells James, "You may not believe it but I'm doing this for your own good."
James-"You're right. I don't believe it."
Widmore asks one of his goons if the fence is "live" yet. He's told it will be in about an hour. Widmore doesn't have an hour and tells them to work faster.   Seamus looks nervous.
Widmore-"He's coming."
Bernard is crafting/working/drilling on a set of fake teeth.  He is so into his grinding away at the mold/impression that he doesn't hear Jack say "Hello" a few times.   Jack heard the drill, walked in and asks if the man knows where he can find Dr. Nadler.   Bernard removes his glasses and mask. {He doesn't have his doctor name on his white Dr. shirt.}
Bernard-"Well, you can find him right here. And if you're not a patient, you can call me Bernard."
Jack introduces himself as a surgeon at St. Sebastian and is hoping to get a look at one of Bernard's patient files.
Jack-"His name's John Locke. And our records said that you had done some emergency oral surgery on him about three years back."
Bernard-"And what are you looking for exactly?"
Jack-"I wanna know how he was hurt."
Bernard asks Jack why he's so interested in Mr. Locke. {He has a peace about him while waiting for Jack to answer.}
Jack explains he met Locke a week ago on the same flight back from Australia.
Bernard-"Oceanic 815.  I sat across the aisle from you. Memory serves you were flirting with my wife Rose when I was in the bathroom. It's pretty weird, huh?"
Jack is curiously stunned, "Yeah."
Bernard-"Maybe you're on to something here. Now I can't break patient confidentiality and tell you something I shouldn't. But I can tell you that when I treated Mr. Locke there was another man in the same accident with him." {Bernard writes something on a notepad.}
Jack-"Like that was three years ago, you just remember that?"
Bernard-"Of  course I do, Jack."
He hands Jack the paper and wishes him good luck, "I hope you find what you're looking for."
{Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
Disoriented and confused Jack is still sitting in the outrigger asks Sayid what happened. Sayid informs him Widmore's people fired a mortar attack on them. "Locke saved you."
Sayid shares some water with Jack from his canteen. The rest of Sayid's group who weren't killed scattered into the jungle, "It's just the three of us now."
Jack-"Why did he bring me here?"
Locke appears and tells Jack it's because Jack's friends got themselves captured and now they're going to have to rescue them.
Jack-"Rescue them from what?"
Locke explains Widmore has them in a cage about a half a mile inland.   Jack tries to ask a question but Locke cuts him off, "You know I would ask him, except I don't think he's gonna give me a straight answer. But I can't imagine that his intentions are good. If we move right now we can break your people out run for the plane and be off this island before Widmore knows what hit him."
Locke arms up Jack and readies him for the mission.
Jack-"They're not my people. And I'm not leaving the Island."
Locke-"Well, Jack, I'm hoping you still change your mind about that. But your friends do want to leave, and since they just ran away from me, on my own boat, I'm gonna need your help convincing them they can trust me."
Jack-"Why should I trust you?"
Locke looks right in his eyes and reveals, "Because I can kill you, Jack. Right here, right now. And I can kill every single one of your friends and there's not a thing that you can do to stop me. But instead of killing you I saved your life, and now I wanna save them too. So will you help me?"
Jack contemplates while looking over at smirking Sayid and back at Locke.

James and Kate pace in the cage. James asks her, "Feel like we're running in circles back in these cages? 'Cept last time the gun was to my head." {And yes you fucking are!}
Kate insists he wouldn't have killed me.   James comes clean about the cave he told her about, the one where all the names were written.  "Your name was there too...but it was crossed out. He doesn't need you, Kate."
Jin and Sun chat about the baby who is with Sun's mother. Jin tells her about Widmore's people finding her camera on the plane and he showed Jin the pictures.  Jin thinks their daughter is so beautiful. Sun presents Jin with his wedding ring and places it on his finger.
The power is cut to the Hydra cage area where the lights and pylons were energized.  Seamus and goons find somebody cut the power and Seamus instructs a team to the generator now.  The monster sounds, breeze is heard.
Hurley-"And we're dead."
Smokey arrives and in its classic mechanical tic tack, clinking manor, takes out Seamus and the goons, all the while the Lostie's watch from the cages. Smokey even knocks over one of the travel sized pylons.
Kate struggles through the bars to reach the keys that are conveniently hanging out of Seamus' pocket. Hurley tells her to hurry because he feels, "When that thing's done with them he's coming for us."
Anxious Frank isn't waiting so he kicks at the door to his cage.
Kate still can't reach, but it doesn't matter because Jack shows up to help them all out.
Kate asks Jack what he's doing here.
Jack-"I'm with him." {Nodding in the direction of the mechanical smoke sounds}

Frank is leading the group to the plane; which is about a 1/4 mile just over the ridge. Kate seems a little excited as she asks Jack, "So you're coming with us now..."
Jack lets her know he's taking them to the plane but he's not getting on it, "I'm sorry Kate, I'm not meant to go."
Kate looks sad. James thanks the Doc for coming back for them. Everyone readies with their weapons when they hear something approaching. It's just Sayid.
Jack lets them know it's okay, "Sayid's with us. He's the one who turned off the generators."
James feels the more the merrier. They need to go because Locke's waiting.
{Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
The woman at the desk is asking Jack if he's a relative of Mr. Cooper and what  the nature of his visit is. This is the SUN PALMS NURSING HOME.  Helen happens by with a tulip plant.  He confesses to her that he's there to see Anthony Cooper about the accident he was in with Mr. Locke. Jack asks if she knows him. This makes Helen curious and worried. She pulls him to the side and asks him to please go.   Jack tries to explain he's there to help "him".    John told Helen about the operation and he doesn't want it and  Jack wonders why.   Helen wants him to leave this alone, "You saved his life. Why can't that be enough?"
Jack replies with a bit of desperation in his voice,"Because it's not."
Helen leads Jack into a cafeteria with patients, while Housekeeping is being paged to call 23.
Jack seems surprised when Helen wheels over a catatonic Anthony Cooper; John's father. {He just stares and drools.}
{Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
Locke marches strongly over to the grounded Ajira plane.  The guards fire at Locke but their bullets have no effect on him.  He breaks the neck of one and shoots the other.  He takes the digital watch from one of the dead men and heads up the "Gilligan's Island" made steps into the plane.
On board he follows a set of Red, White and Black wires that connect to something.
Frank is happy when he arrives with the group to the plane and wonders what it will take to get this baby to fly.   James is first to see a dead guy.  Sayid examines the first body and determined his neck's been broken.  Locke walks out of the plane and admits he broke it. "If it's any consolation, Widmore knew that I would kill these men."  He goes on to explain they were only guarding the plane for show. If Charles had really wanted to keep Locke from actually getting on board he wouldn't have moved his little fences.
Hugo is puzzled, "Woah... wait, now he wants us to leave the Island?"
Locke-"No, Hugo. He wants to get us all in the same place at the same time... a nice confined space we have no hope of getting out of... and then he wants to kill us."
Apparently kill them with {He presents 4 bricks of C-4 from the backpack}.
Locke-"I found them in one of the overhead compartments, wired to the electrical system of the plane. If we would've turned it on... boom."
Jin-"So what now?"
Locke-"We can't be sure he didn't put more explosives on the plane. It's not safe. If we're gonna leave the Island, I think we have to take the submarine."
That's what James has been saying all along. Concerned Hugo states that "He's not supposed to leave the Island. I mean, Alpert said..."
James-"Screw Alpert. He ain't here. {says to Locke}That's twice you've saved our asses. Guess I was wrong about you."
Locke smiles and thanks him. "That submarine is gonna be heavily defended. We're gonna need everyone."
Jack will help him but he's not going with him. Locke feels that's fair enough.

Claire runs over to Locke and tries to apologize. Locke tells her its alright and he understands why she went with them.
Sawyer very quietly tells Jack,"Hey doc, listen up... you don't wanna leave this Island, that's your own damn business. But I'm gonna ask you for one last favor. I don't trust that thing one bit, so here's what I need you to do... once we get to the dock you make sure it doesn't get on the sub."
Jack-"How am I supposed to do that? You saw what it did back there."
Sawyer-"Just get it in the water I'll take care of the rest."
Over the PA we hear "CT test to Trauma 3. CT test to Trauma 3."
Jack is literally standing over Locke.
Jack-"Mr. Locke, are you awake?"
Locke  is sleeping but speaks, "Push the button."
Jack looks confused, "Mr. Locke, can you hear me?
Locke, still sleeping says, "I wish you had believed me."
In the distance Jack hears Claire's voice. She's in the hallway.  Jack leaves sleeping Locke and walks over to Claire.
Claire was just looking for Jack; the lawyer told her he worked there.
In a little break room Jack buys an Apollo bar from a vending machine.  He offers it to Claire but she declines.   Jack apologizes for having to run out of the will reading the other day, as he had an emergency.  Claire doesn't mind and notes this is as awkward for her as it is for him.  She tells Jack, "Never even met this man."   She has a white box.
Claire-"Anyway, the, uh, lawyer gave me this. She said, uh, there’d be more stuff to come, but that my father especially wanted me to have this."
She presents a pretty wooden box from the white cardboard box that is roughly the size and shape of a shoe box. {Box within a Box!} "Do you know why or what it's supposed to mean?"
Jack doesn't have any idea, "But, then…I, I didn't know about you either."
Claire asks how their father died.
Jack-"He was found in an alley outside a bar in Sydney. He drank himself to death. I flew down to bring his body back…but then, uh… the airline lost it."
Claire:-"I just flew in from Sydney a few days ago."    Yeah, last Wednesday; Oceanic flight 815, they're both puzzled.  Jack takes a look at the wooden music box that plays "Catch a Falling Star".
Jack-"I’m sorry. I...I wish I knew why he wanted you to have this."
Claire-Yeah, me, too. {puts it back into the white box} Well, um. It was nice seeing you again. Thanks for trying to help."
Jack- Where are you staying?
Claire-Uh, just down the road…a motel."
Jack-Why don't you come stay with me?"
Claire- "Stay with you? I mean, we're…we're strangers."
Jack- "No, we're not strangers. We're...we're family."
{Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
Locke and his little armed group are staking out the sub. Locke puts the backpack down. {I only see one backpack}
James feels just ‘cause there ain’t any goons on the dock, doesn’t mean they ain’t on the sub so he calls the play. "We’re goin’ in hard. Got it? Lapidus, Hugo, Jin, Sun, you’re with me. The rest of you wait 30 seconds, head down the dock behind us. {to Jack and Locke} You think you two can get our backs?"
Jack-"Absolutely."
James-"All right. Let’s go home."
He heads down into the sub hatch and the rest follow.
Over the intercom in the sub we hear "After engine room, power the bilges. After engine room, power the bilges, please."
James and Frank burst into a room demanding to know where the captain is.  They are led to the captain where Frank knocks out the guy who led them there.
Threatening James tells "Hoss" to get ready to fire this thing up.  Frank will guard the captain while James retrieves the rest of the group.
Locke hands Jack one of two backpacks and they head toward the sub.  Locke asks Jack if he's sure he won’t reconsider.   Jack is sure.
Locke-"Whoever told you, you needed to stay had no idea what they were talking about."
Jack-"John Locke told me I needed to stay."
Jack pushes Locke into the water.
Kate-"What happened?"
A shot is fired and Kate is hit in her left shoulder!  This makes Jack snap! He automatically flips into angry commando mode! {Just like at Dharmaville before the "Hydrogen bomb incident"}
There's a shootout.  Jack fires a rifle, then a handgun!
Sayid covers Jack while he carries Kate down into the sub.   Sayid calls out for Claire {who shoots a man out of a tree}
Sawyer hears the shootout.
Locke climbs out of the water onto the dock with his backpack and he is pissed off!  He's got some constitution!  He fires back at Widmore's men just like Jack did!   Claire is surprised.
Inside the sub Jack tells James Widmore’s people shot Kate and he tells Hurley  he needs a first aid kit.  James heads up top to get Claire who is still involved in the shootout.
James-"Claire!"
Locke turns and calls out, "James!" {turns and shoots an approaching bad guy} He seems concerned as he runs toward James.   James gives Locke the ol evil eye, abandons Locke and Claire on the dock, closing the hatch on them.
Inside the sub James yells out to Lapidus, "If you can hear me…DIVE! DIVE!"
Lapidus tells the Captain, "Let’s go!"    The sub starts moving out.
Claire sees the sub leaving, drops her gun and runs after the sub telling them to wait.  Locke stops her.
Down in the sub shocked Jack asks James what he's doing.
James-"What we came here to do…leaving."

Locke tells upset Claire it’s alright.
Claire-"No! They’re leaving us."
Locke-"No, trust me. You don’t want to be on that sub." {He mischievously grins a bit like the Cheshire cat and watches the sub move out.}

Inside the descending sub, bleeding Kate is upset Claire is still up there and has been left behind.
James is concerned about Kate, "Is she gonna be okay?"
Hurley can't find the first aid kit. This troubles Jack. {Yet it is right next to Frank's head! Is that kit written in black?}
Jack has Jin get his pack so he can get a shirt out of it to use for pressure.  Jack tells Kate to relax, everything will be OK. He thinks the bullet went straight through.  Jack reaches into the backpack and reveals a bomb with a digital watch for the timer, counting down; 3:54
Hurley-"Dude, where did that come from?"
Jack-"Locke…We did exactly what he wanted."
As the sub continues its descent Jack says they have to get to the surface.    Jin radios Frank to tell him to take them up.
Frank yells, "We're diving!"
Sayid has the bomb while Jack tends to Kate.
Hurley-"Dude, how'd that get on the sub?" {Are you fucking kidding me?! He just heard from Jack he said "Locke"}
Jack-"Locke put it in my pack!"
Jin wonders why he would do that when he wanted to go with them.
James-"Damn right he did, that's why I shut his ass out!"
Jack-"He wanted you to shut him out!"
He asks Sayid how that thing works, "Can we shut it off?"
Sayid explains it's Jury rigged to the battery which detonates the explosives. It's at least five minutes until they're up, according to Frank.
James-"We ain’t got five minutes. What’s it gonna be Sayid?"
Sayid-"These wires...they’re leads from the watch. If we disconnect them from the battery, technically speaking, the bomb should be inert."
But you need to pull them out simultaneously and he's not sure...James moves him aside.
2:46 on timer.   Jack tells James to wait and not pull the wires out because he feels nothing is going to happen.
James feels if he doesn't pull the wires that Locke's gonna blow them to kingdom come.
Jack-"No, he’s not! Locke can’t kill us....This is what he wanted. {2:27} This is what he’s been waiting for.  Everything that he has done has been to get us here.  He wanted to get us all in the same place, at the same time, a nice, enclosed space where we had no hopes of getting out of."
Jin doesn't understand.
Jack-"Locke said that he can’t leave the Island without us. I think that he can’t leave the Island unless we’re all dead. He told me that he could kill anyone of us whenever he wanted. So, what if he hasn’t because he’s…he’s not allowed to. What if he’s trying to get us to kill each other?"
James-"Stay out of my way, doc."   {1:54}
Jack-"Now if he wanted that thing to blow up, why would he put a timer in it?  Why not just throw it inside?"
James doesn't care and Jack still feels nothing is going to happen.  But James feels it's not Jack's decision to make.
Jack insists "He can't kill us!"
James isn't going to stand there and do nothing.  Jack looks James in the eye wanting James to trust him that they're gonna be okay.  {1:35}
James-"Sorry, doc, I don’t."
James pulls all the wires from the timer and it pauses at 1:31 and then countdown runs faster.
Sayid needs for Jack to listen carefully. "There’s a well on the main island, half mile south from the camp we just left.   Desmond’s inside it.  Locke wants him dead, which means you’re going to need him. Do you understand me?"  {Technically they just left Hydra Island. lol}
Jack-"Why are you telling me this?
Sayid-"Because it’s going to be you, Jack."
Sayid grabs the bomb, runs down the hall and into another compartment and the bomb explodes!  The alarms sound.
The sub starts filling up with water.   Lapidus checks out what happened and is knocked down with a door that bursts off its hinges.
Sun is pinned against the wall with what looks like a metal box with wires poking out of it.   Jin tries to free her!  Sawyer tries to help him.  Jack instructs Hurley to get Kate out of there while he takes care of everyone else.   He gives Hurley an oxygen tank.
Hurley-"I have to go after Sayid?"
Jack-"There is no Sayid!…Listen to me. Take this tank and buddy-breathe and swim out where the blast hole is, okay? Hurley, you can do this, okay?'
Hurley listens.   Jack joins in trying to free Sun while the sub is sinking.
James-"Push!"
Jin-"One three."   1...2...3!    They remove the giant metal box but Sun is still trapped and James gets knocked out by a large piece that fell on his head.  Jack pulls him from the water.  The sub creaks and moans.
Jin works hard to free Sun but she wants him to go save himself.   Jin won't leave her at all, "I’m going to get you out of here."  He tells Jack to save unconscious James out of there and he'll get Sun free.
Jack gives Jin an oxygen tank because he feels he can get James out of there without it. {WTF?!}
Jin-"No, you can’t Jack….Just go!"
Jack knows he's "leaving them" and swims with Sawyer out through the blast hole up from the depths.
Jin tries to catch his breath while trying to free his wife and she begs him to go.
Jin holds her face," I won’t leave you....I’m gonna get you out of here."
Sun still begs him to go.
Jin says something in Korean and knows they're doomed, "I won’t leave you. I will never leave you again…{in English} I love you, Sun."  They kiss and hold each other.
Sun is crying, "I love you." {And add to that the heart wrenching music that has me crying like a damn baby!}

An orderly is pushing Locke down the hospital hall and wonders if someone is meeting him.  Locke confirms his fiancée, Helen. "She’s, um…{he sees Jin with white roses and does a double take at him. You see Jin get let into the room behind Locke}…probably stuck in traffic….Hey, I’ll take it from here. I’m pretty good at this."
The orderly wishes him the best of luck and Locke thanks him.
Jack is happy he caught Locke, "I hadn’t have a chance to say goodbye yet."
Locke-"Well, goodbye…and thanks again, Dr. Shepherd." {Shake hands.}
Jack confesses he went to see his father. Locke is shocked.
Jack-"When you didn’t want the surgery, I felt like I had to understand why…and, uh, I thought that if I could find out why you’re in this chair, that maybe…"
Locke-"I was in a plane crash. I had my, my private pilot’s license for a week, and, uh, I begged my father to be my first official passenger. He was terrified of flying.  But, I looked him right in the eye...I told him that he could trust me.  And we barely got off the ground. I still don’t re...I don’t remember what I did wrong, but it was my fault. It was my fault. This man, who I loved more than anything, will never walk, or talk or…"
Jack-"You know, the first time you and I met, uh, back at the at the airport…you told me that my father was gone...and, uh, it hurt to hear that, but I knew you were right. Your father’s gone, too, Mr. Locke."
Locke-"Uh, no, no, he’s not.
Jack-"Yes, he he is, and you can punish yourself as much as you want and that’s never gonna bring him back…What happened, happened…and…you can let it go."
Locke-"What makes you think letting go is so easy?
Jack-"It’s not. In fact, I don’t really know how to do it myself. And, that’s why I was hoping that…maybe you could go first."
Locke laughs through his tears, "Goodbye, Dr. Shephard."
Jack calls out to him, "I can help you, John…I wished you believed me."
Locke stops, seeming to let that register and then wheels off.
{Air plane engine/sounds-rumble}
Jack pulls James to the beach and is relieved when James breathes.
Kate-"Jack…I couldn’t find you. I couldn‘t find you."   They hug.
Hurley asks if James is okay and Jack tells him he got hit pretty hard, but he’s breathing.
Kate-"What about Jin and Sun."
Jack shakes his head indicating they didn't make it.
Kate and Hurley cry hard from this loss.
Jack walks away from them and stands at the water's edge and cries.

Locke is standing on the dock looking out to the water, he tells Claire, "It sunk." {He sounds a bit sad}
Claire-"What, the submarine? They…they were all on it, everyone…What? They’re…they’re all dead?"
Locke- "Not all of them."   Now he seems angry; he takes his backpack and rifle.
Claire-"Wait. Wh, where are you going?"
Locke-"To finish what I started."   This man on a mission walks away.

The Candidate is a GREAT episode!!!
What is going on in Locke's head and what is he seeing in his sleeping mind?
Locke is punishing himself from guilt and holding on to all that pain. He feels he obligated to stay paralyzed not only physically but emotionally.
I was very sad to see a few of our Lostie's move on but I expected it and expect even more loss.  In the off "Island" info of last week the Kwon's found what they were looking for and Sayid did too with his closure with Nadia, so he sacrificed himself in the game/journey.  In my opinion it's when those types of things happen, i.e. they find what they're looking for (love, closure, healing, forgiveness, letting go, over addiction, enlightenment, etc.) or in other instances a person is getting to close to unseating the leader or they aren't needed in the game/on the "Island"  any longer they are removed from the playing field and move on.   If one still doesn't find what they have lost then it seems you have to start all over from the beginning.

Things to Note...Questions to ask...
* Locke is indeed emotionally "paralyzed"
* Family. Relative.
* Same accident.
* Wires. CT scan. Head. Dreams. Subconscious.
* Mental and physical disabilities.
* Lapidus isn't on Widmore's list.
* Hurley can't find the first aid kit yet it is in the control room right next to Frank.
* We learned earlier this season that unconscious people can't hold their breath yet we see they are led to the surface from some very deep water.
* It was Sawyer's free will decision to call the shots on the sub mission and to pull the wires on the bomb. {Even if Locke knew he would do that.}
* Sawyer was wrong about getting that thing/Locke in the water.
* Alcoholics-Desmond, Christian, Jack.
* Locke doesn't seem threatened by the pylons and being in the water isn't a factor with anything.
* Does Locke have a thing for blowing up submarines?  He took C-4 from the Flame Station.
* There's always a way to go "further down below".    "The depths."
* In the "Pilot episode, part 1"  Jack admits to Kate to taking flying lessons but it wasn't for him.
* Could part or the entire adventure be part of a world of make believe, subconscious and/or altered state.

Willy Wonka:
Hold your breath. Make a wish. Count to three
Come with me, and you'll be, in a world of pure imagination.
Take a look, and you'll see into your imagination
We'll begin, with a spin, traveling in, the world of my creation.
What we'll see, will defy explanation
If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it
Anything you want to, do it. Wanta change the world? There's nothing to it.
There is no life I know, to compare with pure imagination
Living there, you'll be free... if you truly wish to be.

Vocabulary and Research...
* Dental impression: Accurate representation of a person's dentition and other areas of the mouth. From an imprint of a person's teeth and gums in wax or plaster, a dental impression forms a "negative" of those teeth and gums, which can then be used to make a cast or model. This may be used for the fabrication of dentures, crowns or other prostheses. Common materials used for dental impressions are sodium alginate, polyether and silicones - both condensation-cured silicones and addition-cured silicones, such as polyvinyl siloxane.
- A crown is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant and is typically bonded to the tooth using a dental cement.
* Tulips: is a poem by American poet Sylvia Plath about her experiences in a mental hospital. The poem was written in 1961 and included in the collection Ariel published in 1965.
- TULIP: Calvinism is a theological system and an approach to the Christian life. Calvinist theology is sometimes identified with the five points of Calvinism, also called the doctrines of grace.
- Tulip: is an information visualization framework dedicated to the analysis and visualization of relational data.

I don't know how else I can illustrate to you the metaphors and subliminal information that is displayed within the story. We are still shown the Castaways' journey to "this place" is necessary to heal their emotional and psychological  pain.   The "Island" adventure's challenges blur with "outside world" issues and events in an effort to reach some sort of resolve.

Not everything we see is totally black and white, nor are people and things always what we think they are.  The goal, besides one person being the victor of the "Island" journey and game, is for "balance" not only on the "Island" but within each "person".

One thing we can bank on is the game element.   Jacob and MIB is each other's adversary. Both of their aim is to prevent the other from achieving their goal.
Locke neatly sets it all up for us in Deux Ex Machina when describing a game he played with his brother.  It's wonderful when he explains the concept and goal of the game Mouse Trap that directly connects to what we've seen on the island.
Yes, of course the concept of chess is being played out, incidentally after all these years I really need to see who the Queen is in all of this.
I find it important to go back to the first game reference we were shown, Backgammon.
In the game of Backgammon the pieces are known as checkers, stones, men, counters, pawns, or chips.  It's interesting that the objective is to remove (bear off) all of one's own checkers from the board before one's opponent can do the same.

Even though I always question if things are real or not, and give many examples and use descriptive analogy, it still is important to mention that until we know what the "Island" actually is, we're in the dark.  Ultimately it may be that the "Island" will represent different things to all of us.

Jack does see himself in Locke. This episode is one that I'll use as an example of an instance when Jack and John seem to be talking at themselves and not necessarily to each other.
Exploring the psychology of seeing the yin and yang of particular beings, i.e. Jacob and the MIB and also Jack and Locke, is part of the LOST story.  They do indeed at times have that intense opposition while maintaining such closeness.

Locke is doing whatever he needs to do to win the game and to go home/leave.  I can totally see Locke doing some terrible maneuvers in this battle, but is there a chance at all that he is doing it to free as many of them as possible and in turn freeing himself?   Or is it all just evil, to kill for the sake of killing?
Is the greater good to end the game, to leave, or just replace the two main players?   Jacob feels it only ends once and I guess that will be when we see who will be the last one standing.

Locke and Jack know that letting go isn't easy.  Locke is ready to go home/leave- as a matter of fact Dr. Shepherd gives him permission to let go as he himself cannot "let go" just yet.    At this point Jack feels his destiny is the "Island" just as Locke once did.
It's going to be Jack.
Will Jack learn to let go over the next few hours or will he be the one destined to stay bound to the "Island" to relive his misery over again...or worse?

Love to all who are "LOST"™

It's VERY important to revisit:
The Man from Tallahassee  {Locke and his issues with depression and Anthony Cooper. Plus he blows up the sub.}

Orientation

There's no place like HOME.

Through the Looking Glass    {Sayid tells Jack he's willing to sacrifice himself}

Born to Run  {We see the MRI Magnetic Resonance Imagining sign}

Maternity Leave  {Sun mentions that a mother should never leave her child}

Some Like it Hoth

This image rang a bell with me when I saw the bandage on  Locke's head and visited Dentist Bernard.

Two for the Road.

Let's talk about LOST!   Two for the Road.

”Michael!”   In the jungle Kate tries to wake up Michael, but to no avail.
Jack looks around and suggests, "Maybe they just let him go."
Kate insists "Let him go?! He's alone! They didn’t just push him out into the jungle, Jack! He’s alone.”
Super Jack literally carries unconscious Michael back to camp.

In the hatch Ana Lucia is cutting up fruit. {wears a ring} She looks over to see that Locke is sleeping/snoring on the bottom bunk. Deep sleep. {Crutches.}
We get a shot of the armory door combination lock.
{Flash Whoosh}
A shot of police cars on a rooftop parking lot. {The code/numbers on the roofs of the cars. Ana is in a car with a number on top.}
Ana Lucia's mom, The Captain/Theresa tells Ana she looks tired.
The Captain asks about her whereabouts last night.  Ana tells Captain mom that she was home, cooked some dinner and watched TV. {You hear helicopters fly overhead.}
Suspicious mom asks, “What did you watch?”
Ana doesn’t answer. Mom suggests they go for a drive.

At the morgue is the dead body of Jason McCormick.
Mom-“Remember Jason McCormick.”
He was executed. He was found in a parking lot just after 3 am; he was dead an hour before anyone saw him. {He was killed at 2 am.} Crime scene pulled a gun from the dumpster. The registration was filed off, no prints, no witnesses.

Captain Mom feels Ana did it. "This man confesses to shooting you in cold blood and you refuse to ID him, so we had to cut him loose. A week later he shows up with five bullets in his chest because someone shot him in cold blood.”
Ana's reply is that she should get herself a lawyer.
Captain Mom tells Ana that they both know it's going to be a dead end investigation, so if Ana did this she has to let mom help her.
Ana thanks her, but doesn't need any help.
Captain mom- "You don't want my help, you're gonna have to get it from somewhere else. You're a police officer, Ana. If you don't respect me, at least respect that!"
Ana hands her badge to Captain mom and says, “Then I quit.”   She opens the door to leave.
{Flash Whoosh}
Ana opens the armory door and enters, “Hey Henry. What do ya say?”
She brings Henry fresh fruit. We see that he hasn't eaten the last serving of fruit.  Ana wonders how long he’s going to keep up the hunger strike.   Ana tells Henry the story about her being a cop, mentioning how she’s been around a lot of killers in her life.    She says she's surprised mostly by how much killers love to talk. She fells Henry is different; quiet.
Henry mumbles something and smirks. {Ana is the one doing all the talking. Fake Henry hasn't talked in days.}
Ana gets in close and tells him to speak up and Henry attacks and chokes her.
Henry- "You killed two of us. Good people who were leaving you alone."
Ana fights back but Henry chokes her again and says "You're the killer Ana Lucia."
Locke knocks out Henry with his crutch.
Locke-"I guess he decided to start talking, huh?!"

Bored Ana is wand-ing people in the airport. {Important! She wands a guy with a lovely plaid shirt. The signs over her head are Priority checkpoint, bars and restaurants, departure gates}
Ana appears very displeased with her current "job".

In the airport bar Ana orders a tequila and tonic from Mike the bartender.
Christian is there, drinking. He turns to Ana and says "Long day, huh? Good to see you again. You, uh, wanded me at security." {When?} He orders another drink and asks her "So how does one get into wand-ing?"
Ana-"One stops being a cop."
Christian- "What a coincidence. I just stopped being a doctor."
He didn't quit.  His son ratted him out for drinking on the job; he lost his license.
Ana chuckles and shares with him she doesn’t believe that parents and their kids should work together; too many issues. {Yet this seems to be the case with some Castaways.}
Christian will drink to that. Christian is headed to Sydney, Australia. He asks her if she wants to go with him.
Christian- "Maybe fate has thrown the two of us together, you know, like two drinks in an airport bar.”
Ana wonders, “Why would fate do that?”
Christian- “Oh. The same reason fate does anything. So that we can help each other out. You do need help, right?...Unless you don’t."
He goes on to tell her what he’s doing down there can be a little dangerous and he needs someone to protect him; a “bodyguard'.   It’s perfect for someone who stopped being a cop.
Ana-“I don’t even know your name.”
Christian-“Oooh. Let’s not use real names.”
They’ll pick made up names for each other. Ana thinks he looks like a Tom and Christian feels she should be a Sarah. {He says the name with some affection. Reading body language. Ana could appear to seem like 'what have I gotten myself into?' I know, I'm over analyzing again.}

At the beach, Ana is looking into a mirror. {Yes a mirror. We also see Libby's reflection.} She has to stitch herself up.
Ana tells Libby that she cut herself shaving then reveals, "The guy in the hatch tried to kill me."
Libby asks if she's okay.

Ana replies she’s fine, "But he won't be."

Libby advises her not to do anything stupid. {Why would she say that? What do both of these chicks know? They know things.}

Locke is inspecting the blast doors. He heads over to the armory, uses the combination and opens the door.
Henry is sitting in total darkness. Henry forgives John for hitting him with his crutch, “I’m so glad my head didn’t break it.”
Locke turns the lights on and asks Henry why he tried to hurt Ana Lucia but not him. “I was trapped under that blast door, helpless. You could’ve crushed my skull but you didn’t do a thing. Why didn’t ya?”
Henry-"Because you're one of the good ones, John."
John-“What? Good...what?”
Henry tells him that none of this matters; he's dead anyway. "Doctor's gone to make a trade. We both know he'll come back empty handed and then I've lost my value."
Either way he'll end up dead.
Locke wonders why his own people would want to kill him.
Henry-"Because the man in charge. He's a great man, John. A brilliant man. But he's not a forgiving man. He'll kill me because I failed, John. I failed my mission."
John- "What mission?"
Henry-"When that woman caught me in her trap. I was on my way here, John. I was coming for you."
Locke looks uneasy.   Distant voices are calling out for Locke to come out here.  Kate and Jack hurry in carrying Michael.  Locke closes the door on Henry.

Hot Sawyer is by the creek picking fruit.   Here comes bitch Ana, touching his mango's!   Sawyer’s been knocking those things down for 20 minutes.   The Bitch tells him she needs a gun.  Sawyer suggests she go to her buddy Jack; he’s got a gun.  But Jack is still traipsing around the jungle with Kate.
Ana-“If you got a problem cause he’s making time with your girlfriend, don’t take it out on me, man. How bout you just give me a gun.”
Sawyer tries to chase Ana off like he would a dog.  Ana turns and leaves.
{Flash Whoosh}
In a hotel room in Sydney, Ana can’t sleep. {Clock- 3 5 1} She grabs some liquor and looks out the window. {We see her reflection.}
Rough and tired looking Christian knocks on the door, "Sarah. Open the damn door.”
Ana answers.
Christian- "Good. You’re up. It's time. Protection duty. Come on. Let’s go."
Ana- "After four days of drinking and doing nothing, now, in the middle of the night you're ready to go."
That’s exactly right.
Christian- "Fate's calling, Sarah."

In the pouring rain they drive to a small home. {'Walking after midnight' plays.} Christian tells her to pull over, takes another shot and instructs Ana to stay in the car. He knocks on the door.   {Blue jeep in the driveway} A blond woman answers. They argue. You can hear Christian yell “She's my daughter and I have every right to see her!"
The blond woman says he doesn't have a right. This angers him and he physically tried to barge into the home.  Apparently he wants to see his daughter; and he pays the mortgage, etc."
Ana sees this and gets out, restrains and removes him from the house. As the woman yells “You need help.”
She and Ana share a look.

Back at camp Sayid is digging a hole. Hurley talks to Sayid about the radio they made.   He would like it to play some music for Libby.   Sayid tells him it only worked once and only for a minute, he’s tried several times since and only gotten static.
Hurley feels "Even that would be good."    He also feels he’ll score major points, “Especially when she sees me holding it over my head.” {Hurley likes static? LOL} Very Romantic! Sayid asks why he would hold a static generating radio over his head.
Hurley sounds amazed, "They didn't have 'Say Anything' in Baghdad?”
He explains how in the movie the dude holds the boom box over his head, outside this chick’s window and it plays this Peter Gabriel song, for her and BAM, the girl is his, after her dad goes to jail {The song is called 'In Your Eyes'.}
Sayid drinks water from a DHARMA water bottle, not an Oceanic bottle.   Hurley suggests Sayid check it out sometime, “I mean, if we ever get off this Island.”
Sayid suggests the romantic beach 3 kilometers from there. He took Shannon there once.

In the hatch, Jack examines Michael He's not waking up. {Jack’s actually forcing open his eye lids.}
Locke comes in and assumes for a moment that the “deal, the tradeworked.    Jack says they didn't give us anything. Locke asks if it was a coincidence that Michael came wondering out of the jungle. Jack says he was shouting and Michael heard his voice. Locke looks confused.
Jack- "What? They just let Michael go, hoping we'd keep our end of the bargain? You think they're on the honor system?" {WTF?! Jack wondered the same thing in the jungle.}
Nurse Kate enters.

Sawyer is walking by a beautiful stream; he hears a twig snap, “Come out, come out whoever you are! I know you’re there. Don’t make me come in after you.”
Guess who appears? Ana Lucia.
Armed Sawyer says, “Well, well, well. What do we got here? Is Little Red Riding Hood gonna follow the Big Bad Wolf back to his stash o’guns?”
Ana, with her arms crossed suggests he give her that one.
Sawyer-"I ain't gonna give me you nothing."
She starts to approach adorable Sawyer and he says, “We’ve been through this Lucy
She tackles him and they wrestle. {I'm cracking up!}
Ana kisses/seduces/whatever Sawyer. {WTF? I'm just sick right now.}

Ana is driving the car down by the docksDrunk Christian is with her.  Christian needs some damn music in here.  Ana asks who the woman is.
Christian-“Who is who?.. She is a very long story, Sarah."
{He's very comfortable with the name Sarah; even when drunk and his head bothering him.}

Ana tells him her real name, but he's still Tom. {He apparently needs to keep his identity a secret.}
They stop outside the 'The Last Call' bar.
Ana-“Why are you here?”
Pathetic Christian tells her "I’m here because I can't apologize to my son. He tried to help me, so I thanked him by cutting him off, I thanked him by hating him. You came here for the same reason I did, kiddo. You ran away."
Christian suggests they go in, where fate has delivered them, and have a drink or 10 and be pathetic together.
Ana declines.
Christian- "That's your call."
Christian opens the car door and hits Sawyer with it! {He appears to be walking away from the bar area, not to it. But what do I know.}
Ana tries to talk Christian into leaving.
Ana - "Lets just get the hell out of Sydney.   Let’s just go.  Let’s Go Back."
Christian- "I can’t ever go back….See ya, Kiddo." {What are the two of them really involved in here?}
Christian heads to the bar.

In the jungle, Sawyer asks Ana, “Don’t ya want my phone number?"
Ana threatens him "You tell anyone about this, and I'll kill you." {BITCH!}

At the beach food pantry Hurley is packing a big picnic for Libby.   Libby thinks the food is for him. Busted Hurley tells her, “This isn’t what it looks like...It looks like something...that...it’s not.
Libby’s not there to tell him how to act around food.   He tells her about the surprise picnic 'date'.

In the hatch Jack is cleaning the medical instruments/tools.
Locke is sitting behind him reading a book.
Ana walks in says to Jack "Hey. You're back...So the Others, they didn’t show up."
She is very surprised to see that Michael is back. {What does she know?}
Jack asked Ana how she got hurt on her head.
Locke makes up a story of how she got hurt. “My fault. I left the tap on in the bathroom sink and Ana wiped out and hit her head on the counter. And I’m sorry, again.” apologizing to Ana.

Michael tells the story about finding the others. "I found them. After I left ...I hiked North, back to where we were (referring to Ana).  Hiked to the beach, followed the shoreline, a day later... I saw one...{Locke asks what did he look like}.... Dirty, worn clothing, no shoes, simple. Just like the rest of um…Yeah, his people, The Others. I followed him back to his camp. They live in tents, canvas tents, and teepees. They eat dried fish. They're worse off than we are."   He counted 22  of them.
Jack asks about the boat .{The boat.}
Michael didn't see it. Jack asks him if he saw Waaaaaaaaaaalt?
Michael- “No. But I know he’s there. {How?}
Ana asks about everyone else they took; Cindy, any other kids?
He says no. He thinks they're in the same place as his boy.   Michael goes on to mention they have a hatch, “There’s a set of metal doors leading underground. What else could it be?... They keep it guarded 24/7.  Two guards two guns. And two guns is all I saw.   They're barely armed. Most of them are old and half of them are women. {Ana looks troubled}
Mike’s getting emo, he tells them “I couldn't save him. So I came back to tell you. Tell you that we can take them.” {Yeah! Let’s rumble!}
As soon as Michael gets his strength back he's gonna take them back there and they are gonna get his boy back. {WOW! Michael sure can tell a tale! Also, Kate told Jack about the costumes she found in the medical hatch. Why didn't they mention that to Michael?}

Locke is at the computer, drawing/writing.
Jack tells Locke that he was right about Henry.  He shouldn't have gotten in his and Sayid's way.
Locke-"You did what you thought was right at the time that you thought it, Jack." {Important statement.}

Locke hopes the next time Jack decides to do something, that it includes him. And something tells him it's going to be soon. {Again, Important statement!}
Jack says Michael said they can take them.
Locke says that their friend with the beard told them not to cross the line. {But Jack crossed the line already}
Jack says they're all liars; why should they take their word on anything. Locke agrees.

Locke and Jack are "Going to get our guns back from Sawyer."
Kate is filling up water bottles. Jack tells Kate they will need her to help convince Sawyer to give up the guns. {Why would Kate be a help with that?}
Ana will stay and take care of Michael. She passes along a message to Jack, "Give Sawyer my best."
Jack- “Alright. We’ll be back soon.”
Ana looks at the armory door. {Ana, Michael and Henry are left in the hatch! YEP. Plus, which one is going to push the button?}

Hurley and Libby are on their way to the secret beach.
Hurley advises Libby to watch her head, “We’re almost there.” {THIS IS IMPORTANT!}
Libby asks him if he ever watched the Flintstones. He says he watched all the time when he was in the hospital... when he broke his hip. {A cover story.}
Libby-"You ever notice how Fred would run by the same thing over and over again. Third time past this tree."
She points to a specific tree.
Hurley says that’s a different tree.  Exhausted Libby tells him its okay if he’s lost but Hurley insists he’s not lost.
They arrive at the secret beach.
Hurley-“Surprise!”
Libby-"Hurley. This is our beach. There's Jin.”
Indeed he is there cleaning a fish.    Libby suggests they have the picnic there and asks for the blankets. But  Hurley forgot the blankets and the drinks.   Libby will go get the blankets.
Hurley is to find Rose and Bernard for wine they pulled from the pallet.   Hurley says if he gets drunk enough "Maybe I can remember where I know you from." {She knows him. He still has to fully recall her!}
Jin gives Hurley the thumbs up.

Sawyer is reading the manuscript for 'Bad Twin'. {Groovy glasses.} Jack wants him to put the book down. Sawyer tells Jack he's going to be the "First and only guy to find out who done it. I think I got it figured out. So cool your damn jets and walk around the coconuts trees, I got like 10 pages left."
Jack throws the manuscript into the fire. “It’s time to give us the guns back.”
Sawyer-“You burn the ending of my book and now you wan…”
Kate tells Sawyer to stop playing around.
Sawyer-“What, you bring her around for a sympathy vote.  She aint in my head, Doc. So why don’t you two go play in the jungle.”
Jack pulls a gun on Sawyer.
Sawyer realizes that the BITCH stole his gun! “Son of a bitch.” {She's a thief and a killer.}

Locke seems to “see/think”. {Image of Ana taking a gun out from under a pant leg and opening the armory door.} He needs to tell Jack something.

Ana slides a pocket knife across the floor to Henry, “Pick it up...cut yourself loose.
Henry seems confused.
Ana tells him "You know why."
As Henry is cutting himself loose he shares with her that Goodwin told them all about her. That she was misunderstood. Goodwin thought she was worthy; about how he can change her; but he was wrong and it cost him his life. Once free, Henry puts down the knife.
Ana states, “He was gonna kill me.”
Henry -"Was he?"
{So Henry had contact with Goodwin all along. Or was this information he had prior?}
Ana asks if he’s done. Yes he is done. Ana aims the gun at Henry.
Henry-“So, this is it, huh?”
Yep.

At the airport check in counter Jack is talking to Chrissy.  He’s in the same suit he’s wearing to his father’s funeral and he’s asking her a favor. We see Jin {listening}
We see Ana in a line, listening.   Wearing her Brown leather jacket, white shirt with a large round circle in it, 2 necklaces, ring on left hand. {IN ANOTHER 48 DAYS WHEN SHE POPS OUT OF THE WATER IN THE OPENING SCENE SHE IS WEARING HER BLACK TOP, BROWN JACKET, NO NECKLACES!}
Jack’s dialogue goes on to say that he can’t take his time with it because, “I need it to be done. I need it to be over.”
Ana hears all this and makes a phone call while standing in the cue.
No longer in a line, we hear Ana’s end of the call. "That was an airplane...No. I’m not at work. I’m in Sydney...That’s right, Australia...I...I don’t know...I made a mistake, mom. You knew, so I got as far away from you as I could. But now, I want to come home."
Captain Mom tells her to come home.
Ana says she's on Oceanic flight 815. Mom will be there when she lands.
{Flash Whoosh}

In the hatch, Ana is on the couch with the gun. She seems worn out and melancholy.
Michael asks where everyone is.
Ana informs him what he said got everyone worked up, they went to get all the guns back from Sawyer.
Michael seems surprised Sawyer has all the guns, “At least he didn’t get that one.”
Too bad she can’t use it, “We caught one of them. The Others. He's locked in there.” For over a week.

Michael asks if she’s taking care of him.
Ana-“He tried to kill me today. So I wanted him dead.”
But she couldn't do it. "I couldn’t even kill him. I looked at him and he…I can't do this anymore."
Michael offers to do it. He's seen these people and they are animals.
Ana gives him the combination. 18 right, 1 left, 31 right.
Michael says, “I’m sorry.” and shoots Ana!!!! {I'm doing the happy dance right now!!}
Libby enters with the blankets and  he fires two shots into her.
Michael opens the armory door, looks directly at Henry and shoots himself in the left arm.

Two for the Road is a great episode! It is very important.
We have been seeing not just connections but also parallels, repetitive situations, and "time issues".  Not to mention trades, missions, scoring major points and the loss of value! What is this...a friggin' video game?!
Plus...damn are these people tired!!

Things to note...Questions to ask...
I'm jumping up on my soapbox again...I still feel "Flashes" are not in time order! They are not linear.  They jump around and are blurred together.  I don't think they're what we're led to believe they are.
How much time passed between Ana quitting her cop job then working security at an airport to when she hooks up with Christian?
♟  Ana doesn't accept help from her mother. Why?
Ana wearing two different outfit's the day of the "flight"?   Are all "flights" to the "Island" called Oceanic 8 1 5? LOL!!!    Are they showing us different trips/times to the "Island"? Maybe Ana was not on the "plane". The Tailies are never seen on the "plane".  They make mention that they are, but we never see them (up to this point anyway).   Does that mean anything? What the hell do I know? LOL!!!   I just find it pretty important that we see Ana popping up out of the water in different clothes in another episode!
Ana's role/job is a police officer, although she ends up working security. Is Ana security for the "Island"? Security or a killer? Both?
♟ Bodyguard.
Bad Twin did get made in to a book and published.
I always felt that Christian makes MANY trips to Australia over many, many years. Does Christian have a role with the island too? He is a rich doctor. In addition to that could he be a head hunter for the "Island"?
Ana wands Christian at the airport
Ben wands Jack at the airport in Locke's vision in "Further Instructions".
Ana meets Christian in an airport bar. Ana meets Jack in an airport bar. Coincidence? Not! What is Christian's meeting Ana, and then Ana's meeting Jack in the similar airport bar situation.
Jack throws the manuscript into the fire.
Michael throws the comic book into the fire.
Jack and Ana have to go to a morgue to ID someone.
I.D. (identity) NO I.D..  Making up names and changes jobs and roles.
Manuscript/script.
Mission. Worth. Value. Cost. Strength. Points.
Color of this episode-Red.
Who is “Fate”?
10
♟ Static.
Just for laughs, I'll mention that Peter Gabriel was in the band Genesis at one time. Genesis=Beginning

Vocabulary and Research...
Wand- 1) A long slender stick used by a magician, conjurer or diviner. 2) A rod carried as a emblem of one's office or authority. 3) Music conductors baton. Or a hand held electronic device, use for security purposes.
The name Henry: origins German. Meaning “The ruler of the house.”
Counter- In board games a small object, often a flat disk, used to mark a player's position or to keep score.
- A device/someone that counts.
-Return a punch
- Moving away from attacking linemen in football.
- End of a ship’s stern.
- To say something that contradicts or opposes what somebody has said. Opposition to what somebody else is doing, so as to make it less effective.

Here Ana outright says she 'can't do this anymore'; she's done and also that she wants to go home and low and behold she's out of the adventure/journey/game (level).  Interesting huh?

Jack and Christian's issues are all over this episode too.  Jack has some major healing to do. We have come back to Jack at the Oceanic counter a couple of times, all painfully pleading that he can’t take his time with it {burying Christian}, because, “I need it to be done. I need it to be over.”

BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK!!!!!!!
Libby's Flintstones comment! WOW! That's fucking important!! A clue to them reliving or redoing the same thing over and over.   Is this a clue to them returning back to the "Island" or just having to start over or both.  If they are part of a study or experiment or just playing things over, have they been back 10 times? Or just once before and this is the sequel?

Coincidence or Fate? Are all the situations in this episode just coincidences or has "Fate" stepped in to be sure these people and situations play out?  There's got to be more than coincidence at play here.

Two for the road...Who is leading who down this road?  Does Christian lead Ana? Does Ana lead Jack? What about Henry, Locke and Hurley?

For everyone  all roads lead to the "Island".
Are the two for the road Ana Lucia and Libby, or is it two ....?

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right. The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either. You all know I hate spoilers, and I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me off my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode, we all know what they are. Understood? Good. Let the fun begin!I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance. It will get very exciting as we progress into the story.

Collision.

Let's talk about LOST! Collision.

(Click the pics!)

Ana Lucia is at the firing range. She's a great shot and very intense. She removes her headphone type ear protection and eyeglass protection.

Ana is sitting "as the patient" in a psychologist office. She shares an update that the family with the screaming baby moved but she feels it’s too quiet now.   Ana drums her fingers on the armrest of her chair.
The psychologist asks if she and Danny are still trying work things out.    Ana feels there’s nothing to work out, “He left.”
When asked if she’s okay with that, Ana guesses she’s one of those people who are better off alone. The psychologist asks her how was the firing range and how did it feel to hold a gun again.
Ana- "Very good." {Like she's enjoying a piece of chocolate! Bitch!}

The psychologist/counselor-"All these steps count, Ana. You’ve come a long way since we met four months ago."
Ana inquires if “She say...when I can come back to work?"
The psychologist informs Ana, “She left the final determination up to me.”
Ana- “Right.”
He asks her if she thinks she’s ready.
Ana- “What do you think?”
He gives her back her badge and welcomes her back to the force.
{Flash Whoosh}
Ana Lucia is standing in the pouring rain, having just shot Shannon among the whispers. Sayid pulls out a gun and aggressively walks over to armed Ana.   Mr. Eko tackles Sayid. {Listen to the voices in the background!}
Libby is yelling, “Eko!” {What the hell is she yelling?} And we hear Michael say “He’s one of us!”
Jin says something.
Sayid and Eko fight; trying to get a gun.   Eko knocks Sayid out and Ana grabs a gun, “Don’t move! Nobody move!”
It stopped raining.
She holds the gun on all of them and wants Eko to see if unconscious Sayid has anything else on him.
Eko-“What?”
Ana-“He just had a gun to your neck, check to see if he has anything else on him.”
Michael wants her to put the gun down; she wants him to stop.
Michael asks if she’s crazy, “Don’t point that at me.” {He rocks when he says it!} Michael wonders what her problem is.
Ana demands he stop and fires the gun to scare them. Everyone is shocked!
Ana yells for them to get back, “Both of you!” {Michael and Jin}
Michael-“Are...Are you crazy?”
Libby keeps saying “Ana”, trying to break her focus.     Ana tells Eko they need to tie him up. But Eko is not tying him up.
Ana uses the “He tried to kill you” card, but Eko’s answer is “No.” {He tried to kill Ana!}
She demands that Libby tie him, using the vines from the stretcher.
Michael’s concerned “If they take that thing apart we won’t be...”
Bitch Ana tells him to shut up.     Libby informs Ana that Sawyer needs a Doctor or he’ll die.”
Ana points the gun at Libby and declares, “I know what I’m doing.” {Although I think that it's at this point Ana is realizing her role is falling apart.}
{Flash Whoosh}
Uniformed Officer Ana Lucia Cortez strolls down the hallway to the doorway of an office. {Room 315. Captain}   The Captain is Ana’s mother.
Her mother gives her a new assignment in "Evidence".
Ana-“You’re putting me behind a desk?”
But Ana wants patrol; in a car!   Her mother doesn’t care what she wants and reminds her she was in an officer involved shooting and says no.   All of a sudden Ana decides to speak in Spanish and wants to know if this decision was made because she's her mother or captain. {Why change language for one question?}
Mom- "Both."
Ana insists she needs to be back on the street.
Mom is worried that if she puts Ana back in a car “it will look like she pulled strings. You don’t want me to treat you like my daughter, don’t ask me for favors."
Ana requests a transfer. With that one sentence her annoyed mom takes the assignment paper and signs it, telling her she doesn’t get the transfer, "But I’ll give you the car...Happy?” {Apparently Ana needs to always be watched!}
Detective Raggs comes to the door and tells Ana “There’s a call for you in the bullpen, they say it’s real important.”
Mom blurts out they got Ana a cake, “Try and act surprised.” {Mom just ruined the surprise!}
{Flash Whoosh}
Jack is filling up a water bottle from the beach camp trough.
Rose feels it’s good to see him out of the hatch, “You can use more sunshine.”
He’ll take that under advisement. {That line is from the book Pet Semetary. Lol}
Rose offers him fruit, “It’s good for the constitution. At least that’s what they say.”
Jack takes a piece from the bowl and seems impressed with the taste of the fruit and asks her where she got them. She never answers the question. {Could there be some special fruit on the Island. Actually, let’s keep that in mind.}
A golf ball drops into the trough. Rose and Jack wonder where it fell from.

Charlie stands next to Hurley as they watch Kate putt.
Hurley-“Past the hanging tree, double or nothing.”
He feels there’s no way Kate’s hitting the ball that far.
Charlie-“Hurley, the woman’s on bloody steroids.” {Injections. Growth hormone.}
Kate remarks to Hurley that double’s 10, 000 bucks. Charlie feels that’s nothing to someone who’s worth 150 million dollars, “He’ll build you your own course if you’d like.”
Kate wonders what Charlie’s talking about, Hurley just tells her to ignore him; he’s an idiot.
Kate swings!
The boys seem impressed, but Jack, who is walking over, claims she hooked it. “Try keeping your left arm straight.”
Confident Kate asks, “You giving me tips?”
Jack-“Kate...I’m...I’m a Doctor.” {Now that’s fucking funny!}
Kate wonders if that means he can do better. Jack feels anyone can hit a ball, that’s not golf. “Golf is accuracy.”
Cocky and amused Kate suggests they play a few holes to see which one of them is more accurate. “Three holes, no handicap, we play for bragging rights.

In the jungle Eko gives weakening Sawyer some water.
Libby
is trying to talk Ana into getting to the Castaway’s camp.   She tells Ana that it was an accident, they will understand.
Ana-"I killed one of them."
Sayid is tied to a tree and is waking up.   Ana tells Libby, “If those two move, shout.”, and she walks over to tied up Sayid. He demands to be untied!
Eko picks up Sawyer and tells Ana he’s taking him back to his camp.
Ana begs him not to leave, “If that were you he’d let you die.”
Eko-“I’m not doing it for him I’m doing it for me.”   And literally carries Sawyer off.
{So maybe at this point, Eko wants change his role or is trying to correct wrongs or even penance for past ‘sins’. Hmmm}

Ana sits in the passenger seat of a patrol car with her partner/Big Mike.  Mike asks if "that shrink gave you any good drugs?" {Reference to being in psychiatric care and taking drugs.}
Ana laughs-"Not that kind of shrink."
Ana missed mustached Big Mike.
Mike heard about her and Danny and offers to go kick his ass for her.  Ana declines the offer, feeling its better this way. {Ana likes 2 pens in her chest pocket.}
All of a sudden Ana is pissed she wonders what they’re doing in Westwood.
Mike-“Thought a change of scenery would be nice.   Nice safe neighborhood for your first day back.“
Ana realizes this was her/captain’s idea.
A call comes in over the radio about a domestic dispute. “809, please respond to a domestic disturbance call at 22 10 South Veteran.” {Ana wears the ring}
Ana-“This is 8 Adam-16.”
Big Mike says it’s not their call.
Radio-“Go ahead Adam-16.”
Ana-“We're just 3 blocks from away from that call on Veteran. We got it.”
Radio-“Copy that, 8 Adam-16.”
The siren goes on and they turn and take off.
Where are you going?! What are you doing?!”

A woman is yelling to her man while she holds a baby.  He/Travis takes the TV that he bought with his money.   She calls Travis a liar! The cops pull up.
Travis-“Do something useless, Shauna! Shut your trap!”
They are shouting over each other. Shauna wants him arrested for stealing her TV.
Travis-“She hit me. She hit me!
Big Mike-“Hey, enough, all of you! Both of you!”
The baby is stressed out and screaming.
Ana snaps, pulling her gun out “Put your hands where I can see them! Get down on the ground!”
Big Mike-“Officer Cortez!
Ana wants the lady to take the baby up stairs and demands Travis to the ground. Big Mike commands Ana Lucia to holster her weapon; he is down. {Big Mike’s rank = Police Officer III}
{Flash Whoosh}
Ana Lucia sits stressing and obviously lost.   Sayid is bound to the tree. Libby tries to convince Ana to let Sayid go.   Ana says no, as she fears he will go after her.
Libby-“You don’t know that.”
Sounding awfully satanic Ana says, "I killed someone he loves."
Michael gets up and walks over to Sayid and Ana demands he sit down. Michael doesn’t give a shit about her, he is bringing Sayid water, “You gonna shoot me...Shoot me.”
Of course she doesn’t shoot Michael.
Ana-“Don’t even think of untying him.”
Sayid asks Michael "Who is that woman?"
Michael-"Her name is Ana Lucia. She was on the plane, tail section, they all were. We were bringing them back." {Bringing them back! Is he talking about from the other side of the island or bringing them back to the "Island" on the "plane"? Hmmm?}
Sayid-"Where is Walt?"
Michael-"They took him, the Others."
Sayid is confused, "What do you mean they took him?"
Michael-"The raft, the night we left."
Sayid realized something huge, struggles to get free but can’t. {But why the hell doesn't he say 'I saw Walt?'}
Michael-"Hey, we're going to get out of this, man.” {Ana is trying to keep control of things, to keep it together. Not just with the group, but the entire situation. We can see her losing her control.}

Jack tosses a red tee to determine the starter of the match. Lucky Kate is first.
Happy Jack-“You know the lady's tee at my golf club back home is about 10 feet closer so if...”
Kate tells him to shut up; she swings. Jack calls her shot, nice.
Jack’s up; he swings and it goes right into the jungle. {Where it was supposed to go!} This amuses Kate but seems to trouble and confuse Jack. {Is he not really a Doctor?}
Jack uses the small stepping stones on the creek to get to his ball.
Kate-“We have more balls; you could always just take a drop.”
Jack’s got it. He moves the rocks away from the ball to prepare his shot. Kate sees something behind Jack and looks nervous.
Jack- “You may want to move. {see the look on her face} What?”
There is Eko carrying unconscious Sawyer.   Jack prepares to defend himself with the golf club.
Eko-“Where is the doctor?”

 Locke is in the Hatch working on a crossword puzzle in pencil.
42 down: Enkidu's friend. Locke fills in Gilgamesh.

Jack and Kate hurry by with Sawyer.
Kate asks Jack,”Where are we headed?"
Jack directs her to the bathroom. “He's burning up. We've got to get him in the shower, bring his fever down.”
Jack has her go through the medical stash where there’s a bottle of Ofloxacin; little white pills. “Bring the alcohol and some gauze patches, and strip that bed and make sure it has clean sheets on it.”
Kate stares at Sawyer worried for him. Jack snaps her out of it.
Kate leaves and Jack tends to Sawyer's wound.
Locke wanders over and asks Jack what happened. The beeping on the countdown started. {Does he not hear it?}
Jack- “John, the button.”
Locke leaves to tend to the button.
Jack turns the shower on Sawyer.

Eko touches the Swan logo on the power box.
The timer resets.
Locke steps forward, “Hello.”
Eko-“Hello.”

Ana is still pondering her next move. {If you listen very, very carefully you can hear Michael tell Jin in the background "You can sit tight, she aint gonna do nothing" Michael knows she's not going to do anything! And Jin understands English!}
Bernard asks, “What are we doing here” Their camp has to be close; he just wants to get back to his wife. All Ana cares about is how long she kept him alive out there. She wants them to cut her some slack. {Was it Ana's job to protect and keep Bernard safe?}
Libby wants to know what Ana's plan is.
Sayid- "She has no plan! She only has her guilt… and a gun."
Cocky Ana asks if he has supplies back at his camp.   He admits to having a couple of boxes (ammo).
Ana-“Alright, I want it...at least half. And I'll need a pack, a big one. A blanket, some medicine, clothes... jeans and socks {What is with the feet? LOL}...you getting all this?!”
Of course Michael doesn’t have to have her repeat it or write it down because he’s got it. If he brings all that stuff back to Ana, she’ll let his friend go. {Trade}
Michael doesn’t want to leave his friends, but Libby encourages him to go.   As their all talking in English, Jin responds to the situation, tells Michael to go {apparently he does understand English} Jin says something to Michael in Korean and he friggin understands him! {How long have I been saying they understand each other?}
Michael-“I’ll be back, man.”
Libby asks broken Ana what she’s doing, “You can’t live out here alone.”
Ana-“I’m already alone.”
Sayid observes Ana.

Ana and Big Mike park their squad car on a level 6 of a multi leveled parking garage of the station.
Mike’s going to sign them out.
Ana-“What? You talking to me now?”
Big Mike-“I just wanna go home A.L.” {Uh...American League? Lol}
Ana defends her earlier decision about ordering that guy to stop twice.
Big Mike-“So does that mean every time we run into some yo-yo with a TV in his hands, you're going to draw down?”
Raggs appears to inform Ana that they got her guy.

A man sits quietly on the other side of a two way mirror.   Ana, her mother, Raggs, a black detective and a man sitting at the desk with the two video monitors, mics and equipment.
Capt-“His name is Jason McCormick. We picked him up on an assault on an elderly woman in Echo Park. His fingerprints matched a partial from your crime scene. We questioned him and he confessed. The D.A. is ready to file charges. All he needs is for you to I.D. him.”
Mom asks for privacy to talk to her stupid ass daughter.
She asks Ana, “Why are you doing this?
Ana-“ Because it's not him.
Captain-“He put 4 bullets into you… hollow points through your vest...he tried to kill you. You want a list of his priors? You want to put this guy back out on the street?”
Ana-“It's not him.”
{Flash Whoosh}
Ana walks over to Shannon’s body.

Eko is looking into the stocked armory. {Ping Pong table, paddles.}
Locke asks Eko "What happened? Out there, what happened?"
Eko-"It was an accident.”
Locke-“What kind of accident?”
Eko-“A girl what shot and killed."
Locke-“What did she look like?”
Eko-“She was tall...with blond hair...There was an Arab man...”
Locke realizes it was Shannon.
Locke says "You said there were 5 of you from the tail section?"
Eko-"4" {Not sure of number of people, even now!}
Locke-“4. Why didn't the rest of them come back with you? And Michael, Jin?”
Eko-“They cannot come back right now."
Locke-“Can you take me to them?”
Eko sees the guns and says no.

Jack works on Sawyer.
Concerned Kate asks why Sawyer’s shaking.
Jack explains he’s septic. “The infection's gotten into the blood stream. If the antibiotics don't bring the fever down he'll go into shock. Hold him up.”
Kate-“Okay, I've got him.”
Jack tries to get the pill and water into Sawyer mouth but he coughs it out. Kate will try to give it to him but Jack insists he’s got it.
Kate-“I can do it. {to Sawyer} Sawyer? Hey, you have to listen to me, okay? The only way that you are going to get better is if you take this pill. So I want you to swallow it, okay? Okay, here we go. {puts the pill in his mouth holds the water for him to drink} Now swallow, swallow. Good, good.”
Jack seemed a little uncomfortable with how tender she is with Sawyer. “Nice job. I never learned the whole whisper-in-the-ear thing in med school.”
Kate lovingly holds Sawyer.

Back in the jungle Bernard informs Ana, "I don't want to be a part of this, I know everything you've done for us. I know I wouldn't even be alive if it weren't for yo...but I'm going."
He picks up his stuff and big stick and heads off to see his wife.
Judging Libby will leave too. After all she doesn't think Ana "is the best judge of character. I was with you when you put Nathan in the pit."
Ana releases them; including Jin.
Jin looks over at Sayid for an indication of what to do and Sayid nods his “go ahead and leave” nod. Jin doesn’t really want to leave Sayid.
They all move on leaving Sayid the torturer alone with Ana Lucia.

Michael runs through the jungle {stopping for a moment to get his bearings and direction} and comes upon Sun in her garden. She is shocked to see him.
Out of breath Michael manages to tell her "It's alright. Jin is okay."
Sun wants to know where he is and what happened, but Michael {touching her} doesn't answer because he'll explain later; he needs to find Jack. {What is up with these two?!!!}

Jack is in the hatch interrogating silent Eko; He wants to know where they are.
Jack is fired up over Shannon's death and wants Eko to bring him back out there to the Tailies.
Locke-"This man isn't the problem. He brought Sawyer back."
Jack-"Half-dead with a bullet hole in his shoulder, John! {to Eko} Are you going to talk to me or are you just going to sit there?"
Eko calmly replies-"Anything I say will only make you angry. So, yes, I will sit here."
Sun calls out for Jack from the corridor. {That lava lamp is always on! lol}
Jack is relieved to see Michael and they hug. Michael informs Jack they have a problem. Jack gets all cocky as he walks by Eko!

In the armory Jack asks Michael if he remembers how to get out there. Michael thinks so. They get GUNS! Locke thinks they should stop and think about this.
Jack asks Michael if he remembers how to get out there and Michael thinks so. They arm up with a couple of guns. Locke thinks they should stop and think about this.
Jack-"Think about what, John? Shannon's dead. Sayid's being held at gunpoint. You want to sit and hope that situation resolves itself, be my guest. {gives Michael a gun} You know how to use this?"
Michael says yes.
Eko yells for them to "STOP! Please. What do you want?"
Jack-"Excuse me?"
Eko-"Peace? Revenge? Justice? And you are going out with all these guns? What do you want?"
Jack-"I want all of our people back here safely. Your friend murdered..."
Eko-"Ana Lucia made a mistake."
Jack asks what he just said.
Eko repeats, "Ana Lucia made a mistake." {WOW! Another fucking person Jack recognizes!}
Eko will take only Jack there, and no guns! Ha! Jack hands the rifle over to Locke.
Jack-"Let's go."

Ana plays with the clip of her gun as she questions Sayid. He doesn't answer right away but then shares he's from Iraq and he has no children. He's un-impressed with her questions and wonders if she's going to kill him; he knows that's what she's thinking about.
Ana-"Should I?"
Sayid- "Almost 40 days ago on this very island... I tied a man to a tree and tortured him. I tortured him as I've tortured many men. Men whose voices I still hear at the night. Should you kill me? Maybe you should. Maybe you were meant to." {Like it's scripted out!}
Gun toting Ana {w/scratches on her right upper cheek} decides to share, "I'm a cop. Well, I was a cop. One night my partner and I responded to a burglary call. We were the first ones there. I covered the front and he went around the back. I was there a minute... and then this kid comes right through the front door... I tell him to put his hands up... and he's says I'm making a mistake... that he's a student.... and he wants to show me his I.D. I believed him. I just...I let him reach. All I remember was a pop. {Not 4 of them?!}  By the time I hit the ground I thought I was dead. I feel dead."
Sayid-"What happened to him? The man who shot you."
{Flash Whoosh}
Angry Ana sits in a bar. {You can hear the dialogue of a game being played in the back ground, "Who's up next?" And a song plays, "I'm on the outside"}
Ana sees her target; a young man with a huge cross on his shirt w/1969.
She downs a shot and follows him outside."Hey...Jason."

The buzzed dude wonders, "I know you?"
Ana-"...I was pregnant."
She fires 6 bullets {2 sets of 3} in to the dude.
{Tiny Flash Whoosh} "What happened to him?" Sayid asks.
Ana-"Nothin. They never found him."
Ana frees Sayid and drops her weapons at his feet, "Go ahead. Pick it up. I deserve it."
Sayid looks into her eyes, "What good would it be to kill you, if we're both already dead?"
He picks up Shannon, holds her close and carries her back to camp. {I cried, it's very heartbreaking. After all, they fell in love very quickly!}
At the hatch, Kate tells shivering Sawyer, "You're gonna be okay, you're home." {Yes! Damn it, they are HOME!}

Michael and happy Vincent {Has collar/leash} reunite.
Charlie is strumming his guitar and sees Jin, Libby and Bernard. Everyone surrounds them.
Rose and Bernard reunite!
Sun, {wringing out laundry and has to do a double take to see him} reunites with Jin! {I'm a romantic, it is all so beautiful!}

Unarmed Eko and Jack come across Sayid carrying Shannon...followed by Ana. Jack and Ana just look at each other.

Collision is a Great episode!
Collision, crash, conflict. Could it be about all those things? Maybe. We could be seeing a collision of interests and the "crashing" together of both sides/people of the Island in the literal sense of the word.
We need to understand the game and puzzle part of the story because this game definitely has players, rules, trades, turns, and leaders.

Vocabulary and Research...
♦  In physics, the word collision is a brief event in which two or more bodies come together.   The collision of the particles result in an exchange and a change of direction or transformation of energy.
♦  Puzzle- a type of mental challenge.
- A puzzle is a problem/enigma that tests the ingenuity of the solver. One is intended to piece together objects (puzzle pieces) in a logical way in order to come up with the desired solution. Puzzles are often contrived as a form of entertainment. Solutions to puzzles may require recognizing patterns and creating a particular order. People with a high inductive reasoning aptitude may be better at solving these puzzles than others. Puzzles based on the process of inquiry and discovery to complete may be solved faster by those with good deduction skills.
-Types of puzzles: Chess, Knights Tour, 8 Queens, Rubik’s cube, picture puzzles, jig saw puzzle, word puzzles, anagrams, ciphers, crossword puzzle, connect the dots, spot the difference, Tangram, Tower of Hanoi, construction puzzles, stick puzzles, tiling puzzles, transport puzzles, disentanglement puzzles, lock puzzles, folding puzzles, combination puzzles, mechanical puzzles, tour puzzles- maze, puzzle video games like Tetris, riddles.
-A meta-puzzle: a puzzle which unites or incorporates elements of other puzzles. It is often found in puzzle hunts.
♦  Tabletop games; Board games, card games, dice games, miniature games, paper and pencil games, tile based games(Mahjong, dominoes), role playing games.
Terms to describe concepts applicable to basic game mechanics and attributes common to nearly all board games:
-Game board —the(usually quadrilateral) surface on which one plays a board game; the namesake of the board game. Most games use a standardized and unchanging board (Chess, Go, and backgammon all have such a board), but many games use a modular board whose component tiles or cards can assume varying layouts from one session to another, or even as the game is played.
- Game piece
(or counter or token or bit or mover or pawn)—a player's representative on the game board. Each player may control one or more game pieces. In some games that involve commanding multiple game pieces, such as chess, certain pieces have unique designations and capabilities within the parameters of the game; in others, such as Go, all pieces controlled by a player have the same essential capabilities. In some modern board games, such as Clue, there are other pieces that are not a player's representative, i.e. weapons. In some games, pieces may not represent or belong to a particular player.
Jump—to bypass one or more game pieces and/or spaces. Depending on the context, may also involve capturing or conquering an opponent's game piece. jumping
♦  Space (or square)—a physical unit of progress on a gameboard delimited by a distinct border. Alternately, a unique, atomic position on the board on which a game piece may be located while in play (in Go, for example, the pieces are placed on intersections of lines on the grid, not in the areas bounded by the grid lines as is seen in chess).
♦  Hex—in hexagon-based board games, this is the common term for a standard space on the board. This is most often used in war gaming, though some abstract strategy games such as Abalone use hexagonal layouts.
♦  Card—a piece of cardboard on which instructions are given
♦  Deck—a stack of cards
♦  Capture—a method in which one removes another players game piece from the board, for example: in checkers if you jump another player's piece, that piece is captured.
Parts, pieces, and tools used for playing tabletop games: Coins, stopwatch, clock, egg timer, counter, pawn/playing piece, dice, (gambling) chips, (Play money), game board, game box/container, marker/peg for keeping score/tally, miniature figures, pencil, pad of paper, playing cards, collectible cards, rules/manual, ruler/measuring device, score board or pad, tiles, modeling clay.
♦  A refereed game could also include various aids to play, including scenario packs and computer game aids.
♦  Role-playing games can include campaign settings and various supplementary manuals and notes.
♦  A live action role-playing game (LARP) is a form of role playing game where the participants physically act out their characters' actions. The players pursue goals within a fictional setting represented by the real world, while interacting with each other in character.

We will explore video games, video simulation/simulators, magic and tricks again soon!
I used the term "Puppet Master" with this episode as to show you there has to be someone orchestrating all these things.    I called them the "powers that be" but maybe "Puppet Master" or "Maestro" would be a better term from now on.
You’re going to get very sick of hearing me bring up that there’s a blurring of “Island”, "Flashes" and “Outside world” images, words, people, items and scenarios.   What does this mean in terms of what we are seeing?    Couldn't it be that’s it’s all part of the same adventure/journey.

It is possible that the Tailies know things about why they are there on the Island and what their roles/jobs are.    Maybe Ana doesn't want this role anymore.    If Ana's role was protector, we see that role start to fall apart.
Was there one "collision" in the Tailies/Ana's 48 days or many?

Ana wants to go back to the role/job of patrolling in the "outside world" but ends up a killer.   Did Ana get a new assignment on the "Island"?   Ana could be in charge of patrolling the "Island", guarding it and/or it's people of importance, but still ends up being a killer.
I believe at this point she is unable to change her role because she isn't "getting" what the objective of the lesson is; she is stuck.   Ana doesn't know where she's going!  I can't ignore she wants a "transfer".  What can that mean in the scheme of the game...she must want out of her current situation.

Sayid the torturer is a emotionally tortured man and Ana is an emotional tortured woman.  Will either of these people conquer their pain and move forward or will one of them quit?   Maybe by the time Ana shoots Shannon she realizes that she cannot "do this anymore", maybe she can't be a protector because she will always be a killer.
Maybe she's still lost.

Love to all who are "LOST"™

Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right. The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either. You all know I hate spoilers, and I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me off my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode, we all know what they are. Understood? Good. Let the fun begin! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance. It will get very exciting as we progress into the story.
