Let's talk about LOST! He's Our You.
A Chicken coop. Tikrit Iraq.
A man pulls a young boy out of the house in anger, “You are not a child anymore! Act like a man! You must kill one!”
The boy doesn’t want to.
The man says, “You must do as your father asks.”
He wants the boy to listen to what he’s telling him.
The man gives the boy a butcher’s clever and tells the boy, “You must kill one of them. You will stay outside until you do!”
The boy stands alone staring into the coop. A younger boy comes over and puts his hand on the shoulder of the other boy. He makes a trail with the seed bait, catches a chicken and breaks its neck. He gives the dead chicken to the older boy. The man praises the older boy, thinking he did the killing, “Good for you. You did it.”
The boy admits it wasn’t he who did it.
The disappointed man says, “Well, At least one of you will be a man.”
He looks into the eyes of the younger boy, “Well done, Sayid.”
Sayid stands in his cell; notes the camera and its blinking red light.
Phil sits in front of the video monitoring desk cleaning his gun. Young Ben comes in to bring Sayid another sandwich; chicken salad this time. Sayid hasn't been eating.
Phil doesn’t think it’s the menu, “He’s not eating. Save yourself the trouble kid.”
Ben-"But Horace told me to.”
Phil wonders, “Why does he care so much? The guy’s a Hostile.”
Ben- “That doesn’t mean he’s not hungry.”
Whatever. Phil okay’s the kid going in.
Young Ben enters the “Authorized Personnel Doors” into the cell area.
Ben tells Sayid he brought him a sandwich. Sayid takes the plate. Ben also gives him a book that he’s read twice already, “It's good.” {A Separate Reality}
Sayid-“Thank you.”
Ben asks if Richard sent him, “Richard. He’s your leader. Right.”
Sayid nods to note the camera that’s watching them.
Ben-“It’s just a camera. They can see, but they can’t hear. Four years ago I ran away into the jungle and Richard found me. I said I wanted to leave that I wanted to join you. So I’ve been patient. And if you’re patient too, I think I can help you.” {Making deals already?!}
Moscow.
A man carrying a paper bag hurries inside the hallway. He puts the bag down and runs into an apartment. {Through a few doors} He is running from someone. He chain locks the door and puts his ear to the door to listen. The man opens an armoire, tosses stuff out of the way to reveal a safe. He unlocks the safe by entering numbers on the keypad. {Daylight} Sayid enters and pulls a gun on the man. The man reveals a huge wad of money and offers it to Sayid. Sayid shoots him 2x. {Looks at his hand and head.}. Sayid heads down the stairs. {It's Daylight.}
Night. {Snow.}
Outside, Sayid dressed in black, enters large gates with monogrammed B on them.
He meets up with Ben. {Sayid passed that car on the street.} Sayid tells Ben the guy tried to bribe him, of course it didn’t work.
Sayid asks, “Where to now?”
Ben- “Nowhere. You’re done.”
Ben tells him “We’re done. Andropov was the last one. You’ve taken care of everyone who posed a threat to your friends.” {To his friends- Ben doesn't say "to you" or "to you and your friends"}
They look into each other's eyes.
Ben- “It’s been a pleasure working with you, Sayid.” And he walks away.
Sayid is angry and stunned, “So that’s it? I killed all those people for you, and now you’re just walking away.”
Ben- “You didn’t kill them for me, Sayid. You’re the one that asked for their names. There’s no one else in Widmore’s organization that we need to go after. Congratulations. Mission accomplished.”
Sayid asks sadly, almost sounding lost, “What do I do now?’”
Ben- "I supposed you should go live your life. You’re free, Sayid.”
Un-Free Sayid sits in his cell.
Radzinski unlocked the cell to let Horace the mathematician in. {Both men wear glasses} Horace, who’s packin tin snips, asks Sayid to, “Put out your hands.” After slight hesitation Sayid does. Horace snips off his plastic cuffs.
Sayid- “Thank you.”
Horace is happy to “hear” his voice, “I’m Horace. Now’s the part where you tell me your name.” Sayid doesn’t speak. Horace needs him to tell him what he was doing out in that jungle.
Radzinski interjects, “Ask him about the model.”
Horace tells Radzinski, “I got this.”
Horace continues “Those handcuffs. Are you having some kind of problem with your people? Because either you’re in some kind of disagreement, which makes me wanna help you, or you’re a spy trying to infiltrate us. So which is it?”
Sayid is silent.
Horace removes his glasses, “OK. I’m gonna give you an hour to decide whether you wanna talk to me. But if decide you don’t want to, then I’m gonna have to take this to the next level.”
They exit the cell.
Bacon {5 pieces-looks like a temple, "Asian or Buddhist character"} burns on the stove.
Juliet stares out the window.
LaFleur dressed in his Dharma jumpsuit removed the burning bacon that Juliet “forgot” about.
He asks her what’s on the TV.
They see from their window Kate and Jack across the way.
LaFleur- “Aahh.”
Juliet-“It's over, isn’t it?”
What’s over?
Juliet- “This. Us. Playing house. All of it. I never actually thought they’d come back.”
James feels “So they’re back. Nothin’s changed.”
Juliet-“What if Sayid tells them who he is.”
James- “Sayid aint sayin nothing.”
Juliet is worried. James tells her he has this under control. There's a knock at the door.
James answers it, “Morning H.” {Horace}
Horace shares with Jim he just spoke to the prisoner, “We have a problem.” Uh Oh!
The prisoner hasn’t said anything; which is what worries Horace. {Screw that! No news is good news! Lol} Horace needs to find out why he violated the truce, “Why the hell he would come into our territory. I’m just gonna have to have Oldham do his thing on em.”
Jim- “That psychopath! No way.”
Horace asks what choice does he have. Worried LaFleur wants to have a go at him, alone.
Horace-“Be my guest, but I’m telling ya man, he is not gonna talk.”
LaFleur feels, “Oh, he’ll talk to me.”
LaFleur heads down to Dharma Security. He passes by Phil at the monitor desk and tells him to take his lunch.
Phil- “You going in there alone?”
LaFleur- “Take your lunch, Phil.”
Yes sir.
Sawyer sees Sayid standing against the cell wall. He asks him how he’s doing.
Sayid shares with him, “A 12 year old Ben Linus brought me a chicken salad sandwich. How do you think I’m doing?”
Sawyer-“Sweet kid, huh?”
Sayid wonders, “How can you live with him here?"
Sawyer- “Cause I aint got a choice.”
Sayid-“Is that so?”
Sawyer- “Let’s see how you feel after three years of living in the 70’s. Lucky for you I spent that time getting myself in a position to save your ass.” {So, Sawyer knew this was coming?} Sawyer picks the key to unlock the cell. Sawyer tells Sayid he’s sorry and head butts him. This is to make “them” believe that Sayid didn’t give up his confession easily.
Sayid-“What confession?”
Sawyer makes up a story that Sayid was trying to defect, “You were gonna offer some Intel on the Others in exchange for living with us.”
Sayid asks him why would he want to do that.
Sawyer- “What the hell else am I supposed to do with you?”
Sayid- “Let me go.” Sawyer can’t just let him go because these people trust him. He shares with Sayid he’s built a pretty good life here. If lets him go, “All that goes away. So you got yourself a choice, Chief. Either you cooperate and join the party in Dharmaville or you’re on your own.”
Sayid- “Then I guess I’m on my own.”
Hurley delivers some fresh off the griddle breakfast food to Jack and Kate’s table. He tells them not to forget trying the dippin sauces they really bring out the ham. {Kate is half in/Half out of her Dharma jumpsuit again.}
Hurley asks what’s going on with Sayid. Jack doesn’t know anything yet. Kate gets a bit anxious because she knew he was at Sawyers last night.
Jack- “He told me to leave him alone and let him do his job.”
Hurley-“And you’re going to?”
Yep.
Kate says she’ll talk to Juliet; see what she can tell her. Hurley questions if Sawyer didn’t tell her anything why would Juliet. He feels Juliet wouldn’t say anything because she lives together with Sawyer, not as roommates, “You know, together like you guys were. I thought it was kinda obvious. Who couldn’t see that coming?” {Who?} Hurley leaves to go make more waffles.
Kate asks Jack if he knew.
Yep, he did.
Sayid relaxes in his cell. Keys jingle.
Roger Linus enters the area to mop up.
Roger talks to Sayid. “You know what I can’t figure out…is how the hell you got caught. You Hostiles are supposed to be the kings of the jungle. How dumb are you that you got captured by these idiots. Hahaha.”
Sayid still relaxing on the cot, “And yet you’re the one who mops up after them.”
Roger changes his tune, “Yeah well, we’ll see how cute you are when Oldham gets done with you, Pal.”
Young Ben enters carrying a tray. He is obviously frightened by his father. Roger asks the boy what the hell he’s doing there.
Young Ben replies nervously, “I was bringing you a sandwich.”
Roger scoffs that Ben never made him a sandwich in his life. Ben nervously stumbles over his words trying to tell his dad that he made one for himself and he’d bring dad one. Sayid watches. Roger tells the boy not to lie then he grabs Ben and throws him up against the bars of the cell. Ben admits to making the sandwich for “him” {Sayid} Nobody told him to do that.
Young Ben cries, “I just thought that…”
Roger tells Ben to “go home….I’ll tell you what to think.”
Ben leaves.
Roger tosses the tray and leaves, locking the door behind him.
Sayid in his yellow tee shirt continues to build a better world. He is working construction in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Sayid hears someone behind him. It’s Ben.
Sayid asks Ben how he found him.
Ben- “I looked.”
Ben reveals to him John Locke is dead.
Sayid looks surprised.
Ben- “I think he was murdered.” {Really?!}
Sayid- “Why would anyone kill him?”
Ben- “I’d say it was retribution for the work you and I have been doing.”
Ben tells Sayid he’s in danger. After all if Ben can find him so can the people that found Locke. “The same people who, even as we speak are sitting outside Hugo’s Mental Institution.”
Sayid- “They’re watching him?”
Yep. A man in a sedan had been there all week just waiting, presumably waiting for Sayid or Ben to show their faces. Sayid figures Ben came all that way to suggest to him that he kill this man.
Ben-“You don’t want to?”
Sayid- “What makes you think I want to?”
Ben shares, to put it simply, “You’re capable of things most other men aren’t. Every choice you’ve made in your life, whether it was to murder or to torture, it hasn’t really been a choice at all has it? It’s in your nature. It’s what you are! You’re a killer, Sayid.”
Sayid looks right in Ben’s eyes and says, “I’m not what you think I am. I don’t like killing.”
In that case, Ben apologizes, “I was mistaken about you.”
Ben walks away.
Sayid is in his cell. LaFleur, Radzinski, Phil and security guys enter the cell. Le Fleur tells Sayid it’s his last chance, “You got anything to say?”
Apparently he's got nothing to say so LaFleur zaps him with the zapper!
LaFleur tells security to take him to Oldham; they cuff Sayid. You can see LaFleur’s troubled.
A Dharma van pulls up to a tee-pee.{Sweat lodge} an old Victrola plays a 78rpm record. {‘I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, baby’ is the song.} Prayer flags are hung.
Horace calls out to Oldham and asks if “we’re” ready.
Sayid whispers to LaFleur, “Who is that man?”
LaFleur informs him, “He’s our you.”
Oldham uses an eye dropper to drop the liquid drug onto a sugar cube. {Is Sayid a horse?! Lol} Sayid won’t open his mouth to ingest the sugar drug so Oldham has security put him in the restraints. Sayid puts up a fight but is restrained by being chained/strapped to a tree. {Yep, Horse. Lol. BTW, they remove his cuffs.}
LaFleur looks concerned.
Oldham tells Sayid not to worry, “They’re for your protection. There are side effects to what I’m giving you.”
Oldham tells the guys to “Open his mouth.”
Phil and Radzinski pry open Sayid’s mouth and force him to ingest the sugar drug. Oldham peacefully tells Sayid, “Don’t be afraid. Just turn your mind off. Let it take effect.”
Sayid tries to break free.
Oldham- “It’s beyond your control. So fighting it is a poor use of your energies. You see, whether you struggle or not one thing’s for sure, friend, you will tell us the truth.”
It's night on the dock. {Note boat named Illusion. I friggin LOVE that!} This is the night Ben tells gun toting Sun about a woman who going to tell them how to get back to the island. Kate says this is insane, calls them crazy, yada, yada, yada… Sayid walks away. Ben asks where he’s going.
Sayid-“I don’t want any part of this. And if I see you again, it will be extremely unpleasant for us both.
Sayid sits at a bar drinking MacCutheon whiskey.
Ilana all dressed up sits next to Sayid. She asks him how much a glass of that scotch runs him. Sayid, catching a buzz, feels whatever it is, it’s worth it. Flirty Ilana doesn’t understand why someone would pay for 120 bucks for a glass of anything. She reads the menu.
Sayid- “If you knew what my drink costs, why did you ask me?”
She tells him it’s the same reason she’s eating her dinner there instead of a table. She orders the rib-eye, bloody. {Vampire?! Lol}
Sayid asks the seductress if she’s a professional.
Ilana-“A professional what?” {Really?!} “You think I’m a prostitute?”
She’s not a professional anything; she just thought he looked sad, “I like sad men.” {She’s an ass!} Sayid’s sorry to hear that. Ilana moves over to the seat next to him and asks him other than drinking alone at bars, “What do you do? For a living.” Sayid shares he’s between jobs at the moment.
Miss Nosey asks, “What did you do?”
Sayid- “The only thing I was ever good at.”
She wants to know why he quit.
Sayid- “I’m trying to change
She now knows why he is sad, “When you’re that good at something there are always going to be people who tempt you into staying the same.” {That’s a fact.} Sayid asks how she knows so much about temptation.
Ilana- “Buy me a glass of that scotch and I’ll tell you.”
Looking up at the spinning trees, Sayid is somewhere else but seems content. Oldham and the men wait. Horace walks up to restrained Sayid, “Hello there.”
Sayid seems to clear his thoughts and focus.
Horace waves his hand in front of Sayid as if to say ‘look over here’.
Oldham tells Sayid he’s going to ask him a few questions; he wants him to relax and answer them truthfully “Not that you’ll have any choice about it. What is your name?”
In his happy altered state Sayid replies, “Sayid Jarrah.”
This pleases Horace.
Oldham- Why were you in handcuffs when we found you?"
Very sad Sayid reveals, “Because…Because I am a bad man.”
Oldham asks if he was running away from his people.
Oldham- “The Hostiles.”
Sayid proclaims, “I am not a Hostile.”
Radzinski rolls his eyes at this.
Horace asks, “Then where did you come from, Sayid?”
Sayid looks up, “I came on a plane.”
The men are confused, what plane?
Happy and high Sayid, “Ajira flight 3 1 6. And that’s how I returned to the Island.”
Oldham- “Returned? You’ve been here before?”
Sayid- “Oh yes. The first time I was on Oceanic flight 8 1 5. Crashed. I was here for 100 days. Then I left. Ask Sawyer.”
They wonder who Sawyer is,, except for Radzinski who doesn’t care, as none of this matters, “Ask him about the Flame.”
Horace tells Radzinski to be quiet.
Oldham asks Sayid what he knows about “our stations here.”
Sayid reveals, “I know the flame was a communications station. The Pearl was to observe other stations. The Swan was to study electromagnetism. But of course that was before the incident.”
Radzinski’s upset, “The Swan! How could he know what we were gonna name it? We haven’t even built it yet. I told you, he saw the model! You see, he is a spy. I knew it!”
Horace isn’t gonna tell the fired up Radzinski again to “Cool it.”
Sayid {Reminds me of a scene from Linda Blair/exorcist } “You’re all going to die, you know… You’re going to be killed.”
Upset Sawyer rolls his eyes.
Horace- “How exactly would you know this, Sayid?”
Sayid- “Because I am from the future.”
Oldham second guesses himself and suggests maybe he should’ve used half a dropper,“Oops.”
Sayid gets a fantastic case of the giggles, “You used exactly enough.”
"Bench grinder, lube equipment, drill press over here. Plugs, bearings, sockets, ratchets here. How are you with a flat 4 engine?”
Juliet shows Kate around the garage. Kate has no idea what Juliet’s talking about. She switches gear asks Kate, “Jack told you about us.”
Kate shares "No", it was actually Hurley who spilled the obvious beans. Juliet feels it’s a relief, actually. She wasn’t sure quite how to do it without it sounding like she wanted Kate to stay away. Apparently it’s fine with Kate.
The ladies watch Horace and the security team bring in cuffed Sayid.
Sayid sees that Juliet and Kate are there. Sawyer stops to make eye contact with the girls. Juliet looks worried; watch Kate!
Horace heads a meeting about what to do with Sayid. Amy stands in the room with her infant. Radzinski suggests they kill him.
LaFleur tells them to hold on a second, “We’re not killin anyone.Right?”
Horace states he violated the truce, “What do you think they would do if they caught one of us?”
LaFleur- “Since when did we start acting like them? We’re civilized.”
Horace agrees, “We have a rule of law. And we’ve given him every opportunity to defend himself.”
Fidgety Radzinski reminds Horace that this man’s “seen things. He knows things. There’s nothing to talk about. He’s a spy.”
LaFleur asks Stu if he’s sure about that. He tried to escape from the Hostiles; he obviously has problems with his people. Radzinski feels sharing their secrets is the quickest way for him/Sayid to solve those problems. Horace is going to need a little more time to consider.
Radzinski scoffs, “The longer he’s among us, the more danger we’re in.”
LaFleur can talk to him, he just needs more time.
Radzinski snaps at La Fleur that he had his chance.
LaFleur- “Why are we on your clock, Radzinski?”
Radzinski suggests they call for a vote, “Either we make a decision or I call Ann Arbor. And they make it for us.”
Amy feels Radzinski is right. She pleads with Horace, “I can’t sleep with one eye open. We have a baby now. We have to think about Ethan….We have to think about all the children here. How are we going to feel safe with this man around? I don’t know what he’s up to, but we can’t keep him here.”
This really troubles La Fleur. Amy says they have no choice. Horace puts it to a vote, “All in favor of Radzinski's solution raise your hand.” Everyone raises their hands except LaFleur.
Horace turns to LaFleur, “I would really like to say its unanimous.”
LaFleur concedes.
Sayid carries Ilana into the room. {Kissing up a storm.} She tells him just for the record, she really was just having dinner. On the bed, Ilana tells Sayid to remove her boot. He starts to unzip the boot and she kicks him in the face! Bamm! Powww! Ilana pulls out her gun and warns him, “You so much as flinch and you’re dead.”
Sayid- “So who are you?”
She reveals she’s a professional hired by the family of Peter Avellino to bring him to Guam. The man he killed in cold blood last year on a golf course in The Seychelles. She’s a Bounty Hunter.
Ilana- “It doesn’t matter what I am. You’re going to answer for what you’ve done.”
LaFleur enters Sayid’s cell, “Hit me in the face.”
He feels Sayid owes him one any way, “So make it a good one.”
LaFleur lays out a plan to make it look like Sayid took the keys out of his pocket and “Let yourself out.” He also mentions the guard outside is Phil, the dimwit.
Sayid could most likely get his gun before he even realizes he’s out, “Just promise me you won’t shoot em.”
Content Sayid appreciates the offer, but he’s fine right “here.”
LaFleur tells him their gonna kill you, “They just took a vote. Even the new mom wants you dead.”
Sayid calmly replies, “I’m going to stay here, James.”
James wonders why he would change his mind from this morning especially after Sayid begged to be let go.
Sayid-“Because… when I woke up in the jungle...and I realized I was back on this island, I felt there was no purpose to it. But now I know exactly why I’m here.”
James-“To get shot! Then what? You’re out of your mind.”
James leaves.
LaFleur heads home. On the porch he looks over to {Kate’s/Jack’s. Is he going to ask Jack for help with the Sayid situation or just to talk to Kate?} porch. Acting upon emotion he knocks on that door; {4x} Kate answers. She closes the door behind her so the person in the house can’t hear them talk. Sawyer asks her why she came back. {Watch Kate’s face. She’s nervous.} He’s upset because Sayid just filled his ear with some crap about his damn purpose, “and I wanna know...why’d ya’ll come back?...Why Kate?”
Kate doesn’t know why everyone else came back, she only knows why she did.
Just then a driverless flaming Dharma van drives through Dharmaville and crashes into a house!
LaFleur-“What the hell?”
Siren can be heard while people break a window to escape the burning house.
Sawyer gets residents involved in getting the hoses going. {Grab a wrench, opening valves, grab the fire gear} Kate’s pulling people out of the burning house. Explosion!
Jack comes running out to see the chaos and asks Le Fleur what happened.
LaFleur-“Three years no burning buses. Ya’ll are back for one day...”
He tells Jack, “Get on that hose!”
Juliet comes running out. Jack’s trying to put out a fire. LaFleur radio’s all security to inform them they have a fire, “Everyone get to building 15 now!”
Phil, in the security monitor room, “Roger that. I’m on my way.”
He grabs a rifle and heads up the stairs.
Hooded young Ben hides in the dark waiting for Phil to leave. He enters the cell area where Sayid appears to have been waiting. Sayid asks Ben what happened to his {broken/taped} glasses. Apparently his father did it for bringing Sayid a sandwich.
Sayid understands this as his father was a hard man as well.
Ben cries, ”I really hate it here…If I let you out, will you take me with you?...To your people”
Sayid- “Yes, Ben, I will. That’s why I’m here”
At the airport we hear the announcement for Ajira flight 3 1 6 to Honolulu and Guam.
Ilana escorts her cuffed prisoner.
Sayid observes Hurley at ticket counter and then Jack, Sun and Kate. He realizes something is up.
Sayid asks Ilana, “Are you sure we’re going to Guam?”
Ilana-“Where else would we be going?”
Sayid nervously asks her for a favor, “Can we get the next plane?”
He tells her he’s very superstitious when it comes to flying.
Ilana offers to buy him a rabbit’s foot at the gift shop, “This is the plane we’re taking.”
On the plane Sayid looks/sees Sun via the view from between the seats. He seems very worried.
Ilana apologizes to him about the handcuffs, “But at least we’re in business.” We hear Ben tell the stewardess to wait and he thanks her for not closing it. Ben boards the plane. Beat up Ben and Sayid share an awkward moment.
Jack tells Hurley if he wants to get back this is how it’s gonna have to be.”
Sayid asks Ilana if she’s working for Benjamin Linus.
Ilana- “Who’s Benjamin Linus?” {If she’s not working for Widmore maybe Ben used one of his aliases.}
Sayid states, “He’s a liar. A manipulator. A man who allowed his own daughter to be murdered to save himself. A monster responsible for nothing short of genocide.”
Ilana asks why would she work for somebody like that.
Sayid-“I did.”
Hooded Ben unlocks the cell, releasing Sayid.
The two run through the jungle.
They come upon a path where a Dharma van is coming. Ben falls down. Sayid tells Ben to hide. The van pulls over.
Sayid tells Ben to “Shhhh.”
Jin gets out with his flashlight and gun.
Sayid approaches Jin. Jin asks what he’s doing there, “how did you get out?”
Sayid lies and tells him, “Sawyer let me go. They were going to kill me.”
What? Jin looks confused.
Jin’s radio announces, “Attention the prisoner escaped. The Hostile is no longer in custody. Be on the lookout. He could be armed.”
Sayid tells Jin, “They don’t know he released me. Please Jin. I need to keep moving.”
Jin says okay, but wants to talk to him first so he radio’s LaFleur. Sayid knocks out Jin.
Ben sees this and impressed asks Sayid, “Where’d you learn to do that? Come on. We better He called LaFleur."
Ben starts to walk away. Sayid takes Jin’s gun and quietly says, “You were right about me.”
Ben- “What?”
Sayid- “I am a killer.”
Sayid shoots young Ben in the chest with one shot.
They boy falls to the ground.
Sayid cries and then runs away.
He’s Our You is a GREAT EPISODE!!! Again the Shaman/guide role is brought up as well as altering the mind..consciousness. While this may be done for the purpose of learning, growth, enlightenment or even getting to the truth, we must remember manipulating the mind can cause the blurring of reality.
Let the episode magic, uh, I mean journey begin!
Things to note…Questions to ask...
* The man in the opening scene with the two boys holds his hands in a Buddhist Mudra gesture: Dhyana- This is the absolute balance of meditation.
* Cheng is wearing the Swan logo in the welcome/orientation video at the processing center, yet we're to believe the Swan isn't built yet. And apparently naming it wasn't known 'publicly'. So why have patches with a Swan on it already?
* Choice. Change. Purpose.
* Menu. Exit. Communication.
* Watch.
* Who sent the flaming Dharma bus, young Ben? Does Juliet play a part?
* Lineage. Royalty. Special.
* We have seen Sayid in moments of meditation and prayer.
* In Greatest Hits, Charlie mentions his band got their start at the Night and Day Bar on Oldham Street.
* Things are indeed happening within their heads/ minds.
* Santa Rosa. Psychopath. Crazy. Insane. Pharmaceuticals. Drug trip. Open your mind. Sweat Lodge. Meditation. Awakening. ALTERED STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS!
* Illusion.
* Geronimo Jackson. Alice in Wonderland. Down the rabbit hole.
* A few lyrics from the 78 record…”Dream a while. Scheme a while.”
* Horace knows.
* Radzinski likes control.
* Temple.
* Learn. Listen/hear-Look/see
* Kate and her half in/half out of the jumpsuit bit… What? She can’t decide which side to be on? Or is she preparing to run? Does she know what’s coming too?
* Ann Arbor= DeGroots?
* Ilana knows about MacCutcheon whiskey.
* Le Fleur, “Since when did we start acting like them? We’re civilized.” In season 1 Sawyer tells Jack “He’s in the wild.”
* The scene on the dock- Here we see Sayid walk away: Ben asks where he’s going.
Sayid- “I don’t want any part of this. And if I see you again, it will be extremely unpleasant for us both." BUT in the episode This Place is Death, that scene on the dock is different:
Especially the part when Sayid walks away. He wants no part of this. If he sees Jack or Ben again, “it will be extremely unpleasant for all of us.”
*In the episode DAVE, Sayid threatens to kill "Henry Gale" and actually pulls the trigger!
Vocabulary and Research...
* Carlos Castaneda author.The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge, A Separate Reality and Journey to Ixtlan. The book The separate reality: Further conversations with Don Juan is in 2 parts. Part 1 The preliminaries of seeing. Part 2-The task of seeing.
He also wrote a series of books that describe his purported training in traditional Mesoamerican shamanism. In Castaneda’s book, The Art of Dreaming, he describes an encounter during a lucid dreaming session with a supposed conscious entity that was trapped by other inorganic beings. The trapped entity was named the Blue Scout because its "energy" appeared blue-ish and it was an energetic scout (meaning it was outside of its original realm).
The Art of Dreaming is said to describe the steps needed to master control and consciousness of dreams. The Toltecs of Don Juan Matus' lineage believed that there are seven barriers to awareness, which they termed The seven Gates of Dreaming. In The Art of Dreaming Castaneda describes extensively how a state called Total Awareness can be achieved by means of dreaming.
* Shaman: The functions of a shaman may include leading a sacrifice, preserving the tradition by storytelling and songs; fortune telling, either guiding to their proper abode the souls of the dead (which may be guided either one-at-a-time or in a cumulative group, depending on culture), and/or curing (healing) of ailments. The ailments may be either purely physical afflictions -- such as disease, which may be cured by flattering, threatening, or wrestling the disease-spirit (sometimes trying all these, sequentially), and which may be completed by displaying some supposedly extracted token of the disease-spirit (displaying this, even if "fraudulent", is supposed to impress the disease-spirit that it has been, or is in the process of being, defeated, so that it will retreat and stay out of the patient's body), or else mental (including psychosomatic) afflictions - such as persistent terror (on account of some frightening experience), which may be likewise cured by similar methods. Usually in most languages a different term other than the one translated "shaman" is applied to a religious official leading sacrificial rites ("priest"), or to a raconteur ("sage") of traditional lore; there may be more of an overlap in functions (with that of a shaman), however, in the case of an interpreter of omens or of dreams.
On the island of Papua New Guinea, indigenous tribes believe that illness and calamity are caused by dark spirits, or masalai, which cling to a person's body and "poison" them. Shamans are summoned in order to "purge" the unwholesome spirits from a person.
A rite of passage for shamans-to-be, commonly involving physical illness and/or psychological crisis.
The shaman plays the role of healer in shamanic societies; shamans gain knowledge and power by traversing the axis mundi and bringing back knowledge from the heavens. Even in western society, this ancient practice of healing is referenced by the use of the caduceus as the symbol of medicine.
Generally, the shaman traverses the axis mundi and enters the spirit world by effecting a transition of consciousness, entering into an ecstatic trance, either auto-hypnotically or through the use of entheogens. The methods employed are diverse, and are often used together. Some of the methods for effecting such trance states: Tobacco, Drumming, Dancing, Singing, Listening to music. Icaros/medicine songs, Vigils, Fasting, Sweat Lodge, Vision Quests, Mariri, Sword fighting/Bladesmithing, Power or “master” plants used as incense or consumed to heal or attain altered states.
* Prayer flag is a colorful panel or rectangular cloth often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas to bless the surrounding countryside or for other purposes. Unknown in other branches of Buddhism, prayer flags are believed to have originated with Bön, which predated Buddhism in Tibet. Traditionally they are woodblock print. Traditionally, prayer flags come in sets of five, one in each of five colors. The five colors represent the elements, and the Five Pure Lights and are arranged from left to right in a specific order. Different elements are associated with different colors for specific traditions, purposes and sadhana:
Blue (symbolizing sky/space)
White (symbolizing air/wind)
Red (symbolizing fire)
Green (symbolizing water)
Yellow (symbolizing earth)
The center of a prayer flag traditionally features a “Ta” (powerful or strong horse) bearing three flaming jewels (specifically ratna) on its back. The Ta is a symbol of speed and the transformation of bad fortune to good fortune. The three flaming jewels symbolize the Buddha, the Dharma (Buddhist teachings), and the Sangha (Buddhist community), the three cornerstones of Tibetan philosophical tradition.
Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The flags do not carry prayers to 'gods,' a common misconception, rather the Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all pervading space. Therefore, prayer flags are thought to bring benefit to all.
By hanging flags in high places the "Wind Horse" will carry the blessings depicted on the flags to all beings. The prayers of a flag become a permanent part of the universe as the images fade from exposure to the elements. Just as life moves on and is replaced by new life, This act symbolizes a welcoming of life changes and an acknowledgment that all beings are part of a greater ongoing cycle.

Long time readers of my notes are not strangers to me reminding them to not only watch the show but to “really look so you can see, don't just hear things, really listen and feel the experience.” I know that sounds very bizarre, but we have been told to do this many, many times over the past five years. We’re supposed to be opening our minds.
"Careful observation is the only key to true and complete awareness."
Haven't you ever felt like you needed an escape from things to try to figure out who you are or who you want to be?
Maybe even to reflect upon whom you are now, how you became this person and maybe find the change you need to become a new you? Don't you wish it was as easy as someone just giving you the answer? Unfortunately that answer can only come from our self, our own heart. All I can tell you is, if you're feeling lost and need to reconnect or you're searching for an answer or a change, get away to find yourself. The island cures what ails you.
Experience the unexpected!
Don't be a stranger... Come Back!
My Mantra…Has been and continues to be, WAKE UP!
Love to all who are "LOST"™
Disclaimer: I never claim to know everything about the show and my thoughts by no means make me right! The things I share here are my views and/or opinions. I don't claim to catch every single detail either! You all know I hate spoilers! And I stand clear of reading certain sites as to not take me off my own course of research. The one thing I don't need to do here is rehash all of the obvious clues from an episode; we all know what they are. Understood? Let the fun begin! I'll only note things that I know come up as clues later, but need to be noted when they first show up and things I find that will be of importance.
The scene on the dock-Here we see Sayid walk away. Ben asks where he’s going. Sayid, “I don’t want any part of this. And if I see you again, it will be extremely unpleasant for us both. BUT in the episode This Place is Death, in the scene on the dock, Sayid walks away. He wants no part of this. If he sees Jack or Ben again, “it will be extremely unpleasant for all of us.
ReplyDeleteNice catch, I noticed this too and I think it's a huge clue. First I noticed the word "Illusion" on the side of a boat, and then I noticed the dialogue in the whole scene was a bit altered. Not only the things Sayid says but also Kate's lines: in 5x05 Kate says "This is insame, you guys are crazy!", and in 5x10 she says "This is insane you are ALL crazy".
Veery interesting. Looking forward hearing what you got to say in the podcast of this episode. :)
Things like that make me very nervous. Definiately hating where the show is right now. There hasn't been one episode yet this season that justifies me buying it on blu-ray.
